New web-based SW MMOG... calling all developers!
Krytos replied to ElevenThirtyOne's topic in Rebellion 2 Ideas
Haha, umm like J said - better watch your language and not just in this thread As for CS2 - well, my uni uses CS and the art's lecturer insisted we all aquire a working version, and that Photoshop 7 wouldn't cut it (don't know what was with that part, as CS is better though it's hardly revolutionary or THAT special let alone different ) . . . as such, all I could "find" (in the manor which best suits BS) was CS2. So it didn't really cost me anything I'm going to have to play with its HD image functions now, my brother's already looking for a good still image to use his 20D on just to try out the new function -
It explains everything bar one - if you're 12, how can you get a job? At least in Australia when you're that age you can only get a job like a paperboy or something like that (Which is getting phased out as well ). Any other jobs that fall under part time, casual or full time aren't allowed until you're . . . well I can't remember I think it's 15+ I can only assume that it's different for you, which brings me to my next question - what is this high paying job?

I'd love to help, but I'm pretty much flat out with Uni. And in my spare time I either do some modelling, drive or work on the Reloaded project. Still, if help is ever needed I've got skills in: 3d Modelling - Primarily 3D Studio Max, though also Maya if need be Photoshop - just got CS2, could use an excuse to try it out and Flash - mainly drawing and basic animations I'm learning Java, but DON'T ask me about it OOP is way over my head Yup, Eville is an awesome . . . well everything He's currently working on a mod for Homeworld 2 called Warlords, check it out here: http://warlords.swrebellion.com Check out his gallery, he's got a lot of images from the mod - ingame, devolopment etc. and non-related. Hell, if you've got HW2 get the mod - it's absolutely awesome (even if prosesor hundry and over a hundred meg to download). It's even won an award: Mod of the Month at ModDB -

stupid q's from a total beginner

Chances are once you've taken over the planet it's support will still be heavily on your opponents side. To fix this, send some characters on a diplomatic mission to the planet to bring up your support. Also, if the planet had very high support for the enemy, they might uprise when you take over the planet - you'll need to quell the uprise before any facilities on planet can be used. Once again, send characters to quell the uprising, Guerillas can help for the alliance and there's one for the Imperial specops as well, I think it's their commandos. Also, send troops to the planet to help quell the uprising, and some orbiting ships will stop any smuggling that might go on. -
Look at all the Imperial logos, they also share the same characteristic quality as the landing bay -35

I agree with Jahled. He doesn't know GL, and really believe anyone thinks he does. Most of the crap he posts is to be contrivursol(sp?) to some degree just to get attension. I mean, as s oon as he put that link to his "girl friend" was an obvious ploy for more views. From the very little (and intentially little) I've read of his site, it has little if any substance. -36

I think SM would be interested in that, though I'm not exactly what you'd call a fan of ST . . . more of the oposite. That's why I didn't vote, too bias -37

Well, it's been a long . . . ok, VERY long time coming (just look when this thread was started ). Though after pushing through RL, uni and helping out with Reloaded I've finished texturing the Majestic Yes, every couple o' weeks I'd do a little more and this morning I finally figured enough was enough and finished it. Now, with the textures done I just have to look over it to see if it's all satisfactory then attempt to get them working Rebellion . . . which will undoubtably be a few more weeks . . . ah, months . . . years? http://img101.echo.cx/img101/4636/maj012vg.jpg http://img101.echo.cx/img101/9585/maj025gm.th.jpghttp://img101.echo.cx/img101/2711/maj065ct.th.jpghttp://img101.echo.cx/img101/783/maj047pc.th.jpg http://img101.echo.cx/img101/5169/maj030le.jpg http://img133.echo.cx/img133/9269/maj055ok.jpg And, in the words of the Mask . . . -39

Karn's heart began to pound heavier and heavier as the got closer to the nav point. "Alright Ulic, you've had enough punishment for now - bring your ship into the hangar so we can jump out of . . . " "Sir, an Imperial cruiser has dropped out of hyperspace infront of us." Karn turned to the sensor pannel to see what the new contact was, and when he did - his heart stopped all together. Looming infront of them was a new Star Destroyer - though this was not an Imperial class, nor a Victory. For Karn right now, it was far worse - and Immobiliser Cruiser. It's 4 gravity well generators were already powered and would stay powered until the ship was taken out. And with those 4 gravity well generators up and running, anyship in its field would be pulled out of hyperspace - or stoppped from jumping into hyperspace at all. "Helm, chance course immediately and begin evasive manouvres. Things have just got a whole lot worse." ***** Kre'nel stood at the front of the bridge constantly giving course corrections to keep the Immobilisers fire off them. "Sirs, the ISD is now in range to fire." "Exellent, at least that has worked out well. Get the techinicians down to the cargo hold to prep the equipment down there." Karn ordered. Kre'nel turned to him down founded, "What?" "Well, you know all that jamming gear we're haulling around for the Rebellion? Well, there's more than enough to screw up the targetting systems of both those Imp ships. If we continue manouvring between their fields of fire, they'll have to take the risk of hitting each other - which will hopefully make them think twice about letting go with all their firepower." Kre'nel nodded, and also hoped it would work. The low manouvrebility of the Imperials vessels compared to the frigate's would allow them to keep positioning themselves between the enemy ships for a long peroid of time. Though that would only be delaying the enivitable. "Currently the Rebel fighters are holding off their Imperial counterparts and aren't sustaining damage. At the same token, they're not inflicting damage. "Unless something upsets the balance soon we wont be able to do much except get ripped apart by that ISD or the Imobiliser." Karn closed his eyes for his relpy, a sign Kre'nel knew wasn't good. "Keep as much distance between us and those cruisers so we can survive. We need to draw the Imperial fighters away from our own so we can engage them. "With out the Imperial fighters, we can get the X and Y-wings to take out that Inderdictor. Oh, and Kre'nel, you might want to inform Ulic of what's just happened." "At once."

IC: (1138) The clones marched up the ships ramp, with 1138 and one of the other clones hugging the side of the ship as they came up. The third clone was foolish however, as he ran straight up the ramp he was cut down by a turreted that had lowered from the roof. 1138 quicjly dived across the ramp as he threw a grenade at the turret. In a flash, the turret was reduced to a smoldering slag heap. 1138 and the other clone got ready to move in, though it was too late - the dark jedi was running up the ramp with his light saber swing around. 1138 dived off the ramp, as did the other clone. Though the other clone wasn't as lucky as 1138, as a lightsaber collected with his leg, cutting it off at the knee. OOC: Kaja, do you want to be rescued?

Don't worry mate, I think we've all had that rant. And if there's something that can be done, it will be done . . . hopefully.

The problem appears to be Rebellion's 3D engine and they way it works. It's kidna hard to pin point what the fault is, sometimes it's as if it identify which faces are in front of each other and renders the rear ones - which would be a depth buffer problem. Other times, and what I'm thinking it is at the moment, is a Z-Buffer issue where the other face fight with each other and turn on and off. I'd assume Rebellion has a very small Z-Buffer, which results in this problem. Now, there's no real point diagnosing the problem - 'cause we can't fix it, not easliy at least. I've a few theories - though they require my free time and my brother's free time as well. I don't see it ever getting fixed unfortunately, because even if my theory pans out it would involve a lot of effort by someone who can program very well

Surprised about RedBacks? I've known to stay away from those little guys since . . . since I can remember. There use to be a nest of them at my first house, never got close to them, they're extremely deadly and I've heard enough stories to convince me. For example, my brothers mate works as a removalist and was taking some furniture out from under some old ladies house when he noticed that his vein in his arm was a deep purple, and there was a bite mark on his wrist as well as a Red Back. He got rushed to hosptial (thank god it was only a few minutes drive away). By the time he got there, the veins leading to his heart were all purple . . . he showed me a photo of it once that his mate took while they were in the Ambo, not sure if I can fidn it though There are also white tail spiders in Australia - perhaps they have another name though, because they sounded like Recluse or Fiddleback with that flesh eating virus. My mates beach house usually has a few of those hanging around (makes it hard to get to sleep) and one time his friend's mum got bitten by one. She got rushed to the hospital, though she still has a scar on her hand from where the flesh was rotting. There was also a house last year with a backyard full of Mouse Spiders. Every night they'd emerge, so eventually some science team (From CSIRO probably) came and collected them for studying (they only got like 80 out of over a hundred). They still don't know what attracted them there, though are glad to get the sampels as they're a rarish species. Still, all my life I've never been bitten by a spider. Even though I've had a Huntsman run up my seatbelt once, wake up to see a Wolf Spider on my window nearly every month and always find a few of the buggers hanging around something outside. Also on that not, I heard that Daddy long leg spiders are one of the most venomous - though are unable to penetrate your skin with their bites. And for all you aracnaphobes - apparently you eat about 8 spiders in your sleep in your entire life . . . yummy

In the space scenes apparently (even officialy mentioned) there are purpose bloopers, such as a potato in Episode Vs Asteroid scene and a shoe replacing a Star Destroyer in ROTJ battle above Endor. In the an Episode II documentry, they say that they replaced an asteroid in the ango vs. Obi Wan space scene with one of those Cow things Anikan rode on Naboo

That was awesome!!!!

OOC: Ok, I'll get onto posting tomorrow - my brain has frozen when it comes to RPing after those other two posts. Back to work then . . .

OOC: Sorry for the tardeness with posting in the RPs but busy, busy, busy as a bee - my life story at the moment. Though, there's no time like the present to post it up IC: Rantar tired eyes were forced open as he led Afton into the small assembly hall. He'd gotten together a group of some of his best men and women. All of them would soon be taken under the wing of Afton to learn how to fight, how to think and how to win. "Good to see you all here bright and earlier - a little too early for my likings, though todays a special exception. "I'm here to introduce you to your new commanding officer, Afton. She will be teaching you everything you need to know, and a little more, for us to win here. "She'd a strong warrior, and I know you'll treat her with the upmost respect and commitment - because you all know what's at stake here, not just our lives but our enitre planet as well. "Without further ranting, Afton they're all yours." OOC: I was going to say: This is afton, destroyer of worlds and conqueror of empires. Fear her, and tremble at her name or face the wrath that is sure to come yourway . . . that I think that was over the top

Listening to the conversation of hand to hand combat, Karn decided to throw in his two credits. "Well, hand to hand combat is a necisity - even with the many advancements made in armour and weaponary. Even an E-11 with a fully charged cell will run out of ammo after around 250 blasts. "If you were to be jumped while reloading - you'd be in a lot of trouble." Karn took a long, refreshing drink of the bottle of water that now replaced the usual Corellian alcohol. "Now, that ain't the half of it. Blasters and the sort have their limitations when it comes to point blank fighting. A good fighter, like one of these Echi guys, would close ranks fast enough to deflect the blaster itself and ruining your shot and at the same time giving him or her ample time to . . . well kill you. "That's why I always carry a good 'ol vibroblade with me as well - not to mention I've been known for my martial abilities." Karn was almost surprised by the dry faces he got after saying his last remark. "No, really - I am . . . just, not when I've been drinking . . . "

IC: (1138) The rush tactic had failed almost completely. The tactic would have been sound at giving the Jedi and the clones an advantage over the ship - except the dark figure that had been in the cave turned out to be a Dark Jedi. The Dark Jedi had badly injurred the squad, though was now focused on the Jedi Master he now faced. Better now then never. Waving two squad mates who were still uninjurred like himself, 1138 moved into the open transport and began the search for the Jedi brat. OOC: Yes, very slowly

Got it, yet to listen to it . . . hmm, there's an idea EDIT: Just listened too it, 'tis quiet good

The EU explanation keeps with the original Star Wars mystique - that someone so powerful in the dark side of the force actually gets deformed from there own power. Being scared by force lightning is a pretty poor excuse, though I havn't read up on Episode III yet (and nor will I before the movie) so the way he gets scared mightn't be too bad. Still, I like the Dark Side idea more
-
No, nor have I seen the shoe or digital cow thing (in Episode II) - let alone know half the things mentioned so far. Man, I'm really out the "fact" loop in Star Wars
