  1. IC: (1138) The retreat further into the cave was stopped by dreaded sound of Droidekas grew louder. The clones quickly found defendable positions in a vein attempt to hold off against the Destryoer Droids. Though with their numbers thinned so much, and at such a disadvantage 1138 doubted they could keep the fight going for long. From behind his cover, 1138 peered towards the entrance of the cave and where the droid army was. The circular battledroids were easy to see form the clouds of dust htey were kicking up as the moved along, though further back behind the droidekas and eary black figure began to move towards the clone forces. What is that?
  2. Rather surprising, no? But, that's why I created some battlemech cards to replace some of the troops in Rebellion. Haven't used 'em for awhile, though... Funny that, the other day I was thinking about modding Rebellion to make it Battletech - with the Empire as the IS and Rebs as Clan. Though considering that BT's warship fleets are extremely small, and generally rely on dropships, I doubt a decent mod could be done. What's even worse is that they could have won the case, given that they had legal right to use the images, but they didn't have the cash to go to trial. I was hoping Microsoft would have revisited the issue when they bought FASA out, but no dice. I wasn't really that surprised at Microsoft's lack of responce. It has always struck me as curious, however, that shortly after MS bought out FASA, FASA shut down I liked the campaign editor feature, too. I toyed around with it some, and it could have been a bit more user-friendly, but there were some people who worked wonders with it. I think if you'd been able to mod the 'Mechs themselves, it would have really taken off... I played with it a bit too, though I wasn't really into modding when I played both, and not having any modelling skills back then never bothered to see if there was a way to add more 'mechs. If I get time (so next year probably ) I might look into it. Hmm, maybe some old school Sucession Wars or anything that involves the Combine Yeah, I ran across that program awhile ago. Trouble is finding time for it, Rebellion, et al. Yeah, that's half the reason I've never completed a BT game - I'd start and finish it for the day and then never get time to finish it. MegaMek at least is faster to play. Hmm...I'll have to keep that in mind should I start playing it in earnest. Another game I wouldn't mind modding - nothing special, fairer costs, a higher unit limit and more skirmish/multiplayer maps. Four maps is just not enough
  3. Nice work Elvis! ! Oh, and it was a very "humble" opinion
  4. This is wrong. SImply wrong. That's the ultimate proof that money makes you stupid. On the other hand if you guys can come up with $15000, I will change my name to swrebellion.com... Weird foodstuff... Verydisturbing. Hmm, I missed that post. Sadly, there was a lady in Australia who did a simular thing over ebay. She sold the right to choosing the name of her unborn child to some corporation. I feel sorry for the kid, who will most likely grow up with a stupid name chosen by a corporation.
  5. They'd make exellent pets
  6. Karn saw Afton out of the corner of his eye drop to the floor. Spinning around, Karn instinctivally yelled out. "Afton!" Quickly running to her side, Karn checked her pulse still alive, thank the force. With his mind racing, Karn jumped to the closest communit to call for help. "Medic to the bridge, personal down!" Karn quickly returned to check on Afton and tried to talk to her, "Afton, Afton can you hear me? What happened?" Though Karn didn't get the chance to wait for a responce as the bridge's lights dimmed to an eary red and the warning klaxons began to blare again. "A pair of bombers are launching torpedoes. We've got incoming." Getting back to his feet, Karn prayed that his gunners would be able to knock out most of the torpedos before they hit . . .
  7. Rantar's eyes slowly opened as he emerged from thought as Afton spoke. Rantar let the silence last a little longer, and savoured what was certain to end. With the distant sounds of people awakening in the base, Rantar finally turned to Afton. "Sure, lets get something to eat." ********************************************************** It took a few minutes to reach the Resistances equivalent of a Mess Hall. Deep in the makeshift base, the mess hall was what use to be a basement. The site was originally set up by the a detachemnt of the original colonist to Vathonir, though over the years its location and existance had become a myth to most. Now it was worn down after so many years of decay. The ferocrete was breaking apart, and entire sections of the ceilings had collapsed all over the base making it hard to navigate. The only food the resistance could serve in quantity was a grey slop, that was reminisent of the decaying ferocrete. Sitting down at one of the many tables with Afton, Rantar began to wonder how the resistance was able to recruit anyone with this type of horrid food. As Afton pondered her own breakfast, Rantar slid across the table a datapad. "That contains the files of the people you were asking for. And, don't worry about the food - no-one knows you on planet yet, so you can go to a "real" food joint. "Consider it recon, for food." With thaqt, Rantar pushed his bowl of goo away as he no longer felt hungry.
  8. Welcome back Jess The whole gangs practically back now, awesome!!! !!! Let the RPing begin . . . ah, continue Sounds good Jess, we'll just need to think of a way to link up. We need to drag his squadron into the war . . . hmm, maybe they miss jump and get stranded around Vath and decide to fight for us? The local militia/security force would probably attack them, though Phytho's squad should be able to deal with them, while taking a single catiaulty allowing you to fill in the spot until you form your own fighter squadron?
  9. Oh, and I was about to have lunch Very, very disturbing
  10. LOVED playing tabletop Battletech. I have many fond memories of head-shots with my favorite Warhammer 'Mech...those were the days. Mechwarrior always frustrated me. Being a Star Wars fan and having played the heck outta X-Wing, et al, I was disappointed in not being able to truly fight in three dimensions (i.e., I wasn't flying). I kept getting my butt handed to me. However, it was tons of fun playing multiplayer. The Mechcommander series was more my speed. To this day I don't know why it more widely accepted than it was. Mechcommander 1 was pretty good, but 2 was simply awesome! The only thing that would have mede it better would have been for you to create your own 'mech designs or to have the ability to mod the game to include the 'unseen' 'Mechs. I want my Warhammer, dang-it! But I digress. Re: Force Commander - I actually like the game, from what I've seen of the tutorial. So many of the RTS games are "build units; swarm enemy" type of strategy. Warcraft III kinda broke that model due to the 'governor' of resource maintenence, but for some reason I get kind of the same feeling from Force Commander. Woo, I think you're the first person on the forum who has also liked Battletech (and not just the PC games like Mechwarrior). Warhammer is a classic, and a shame that FASA got sued over it. More of a shame is the "reseen" version of the Warhammer The new Classic Battletech is good, though it has it's flaws (Like the upcoming Jihad and Dark Ages era). I was a fan of most Mechwarrior games, starting from the MW1, 2 and my favourite 3 (Even if there was no difference between a Battlemech and Omnimech). MW4 was a real let down, even the latest "Mercenaries" wasn't that good. The Mechcommander series was great, though there was something about number 2 that was lacking . . . I think they needed more movies to set the theme at the start of each campaign. Still, graphics, game play and story were awesome. If you're still into Battletech, there's a game out called Megmek which is a simulation the board game. It's unofficial and allows a lot of adding on. It's only 2D ggraphics, and uses Java - so don't except anything flash. Still, it's the next best thing to the boardgame (unless you wont all level 3 rules) and it allows multiplayer over the net. There was also a game my brother started making years ago with some others called Mech War 3D. He dropped out due to Year 12 and never got back into it, though I think it's still floating around somewhere . . . Back on topic . . . ish . . . FoCom's unit limit (not on the Command points, thoguh also you could only have 60 units at once) meant that you needed stategy, even if the game limited it, though also meant you didn't get to call in many "cheap" units like Infantry which made most things annoying - especially for us Rebels who had too face down AT-ATs with T-3 Attacks Tanks.
  11. Se7en (or Seven) is a thriller with Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey, very dark. It's about a serial killer that picks his targets and murders by the seven deadly sins. It's not a "who done it?" style of movie where you try to figure out the murder, just a thriller. Though it's one of my favourite movies - even if it's dark. I recently bought the special edition DVD, though I'm yet to watch it Now I just need The Usual Suspects and Dark City, and I've got nearly all my favourite movies I'm not a fan of the comic book movies either. Spiderman was crappy, the Hulk was . . . not even worth a mention, so far I've only liked X-Men 1 and 2 and the Punisher, mainly because they stear clear of trying to make it feel like a comic book - and give it a more mature edge. It's no where near as crap as Red Devil or any of those other ones, well at least in my opinion.
  12. Awesome movie, did you see Se7en? Oh, and I just saw Punisher a day or two ago. Not bad, could've used a better ending though
  13. Hey Scath! Havn't seen you around here for ages! How've you been?
  14. Am I the only one who enjoyed Force Commander? I mean, sure it had it's bad points. AI was far from exiting, and you can't build up large armies. And there are a few bugs. Though that's about it. I thoroughly enjoyed the single player campaign, skirmish was alirght even if it had AI that resembled Red Alert (shudders at the thought of Red Alert and how it tarnished the original Command and Conquer). Graphics were great for the time it came out, and it was a fully 3D RTS. I think it's biggest down fall was the command point concept, which I liked though I thought it needed to be refined due to the simple fact you couldn't build up large enoguh armies. On the same note, that appears to be only due to system limits in those days, now the specs required for that game are laughable . . . relatively speaking of course I still play FoCom every now and again and enjoy it. I've played XvT and X-Wing Alliance, though felt that it was hard to get engulfed in those games. Played the original X-Wing, though all I remember of it was flying a Y-Wing in the training area and enjoying Ion cannons. Hey, I was very young back then - if anyone remembers the story line of X-Wing, could you post it? I'm interested in what it was like. Never played TIE Fighter, though watched a mate play it a lot. Looked really good, though once again I was young then and didn't play it 'cause the Empire was evil (Yeah I know, stupid right ) Dark Forces was cool, though the graphics actually made me feel sick Jedi Knight was alright, though it lacked the Star Wars feel. Jedi Outcast was good, even if it still lacked a real Star Wars feel, it was still an awesome game. Jedi Academy was just as good in my opinion, except that there wasn't "much" of a story line. It felt more like an old school FPS where it was more about killing crap then achieving an objective, still I play it more than Outcast - go figure Played KotOR and loved it, though never really got into playing it a second time round. Yet to try the second, and bought Neverwinter Nights . . . yeah, should install that some day. On that note, loved Diablo I, though didn't like Diablo II as much. Battlegrounds was a real let down anyway you look at it. Graphics feel cartoonish, there's little game play. Teams are practically identicle. It's pointless to play without the epansion pack, which adds more unique units. Played Rogue Squadron on PC and loved it then, to arcade in my opinion now. Dito for that later ones, to arcade - still want to play them though, got a Game Cube emulator for PC yet never found the actual game in the format for one of the emulators No idea what Masters of Tera Kasi Want to try Republic Command, even if I'm not that huge a fan of prequel era. I'm hoping, though not expecting, something from the EU in Battlefront 2. I'm a big fan of the EU, while it doesn't have the feel of the original saga, it still has a pretty good overall story. Something set in the NJO would be awesome @TF: MechCommander 2 aye? Are you a fan of the Mechwarrior and Battletech games?

  19. OOC: Here we go, the beginning of the end . . . IC: Before Karn could send his gaurds off to find Afton, warning klaxons blared throughout the ship. "Inbound ships! Multiple contacts dropping out of hyperspace behind us,"the sensor tech yelled in paniced voice. "Confirming targets . . . 2 ISD Mk IIs, no support vessels though they're beginning to deploy fighters." "Well, so much for our plans. At least the locals havn't picked us up yet." As always, Karn spoke too soon as two comm channels came to life on the ships bridge. "This is Captian Nizer of the Imperial Star Destroyer Impervious, powerdown your vessel and you shall be spared." "What fool dare challenges the power of the Chasnier Pirates? You wont live to regret this." Karn rolled his eyes, as he spoke. "Oh great, so now we not only have those Imps baring down on us, though we've managed too tick off the local pirates as well. What next? We manage to find the mythical Katarna fleet as well!" Quickly moving to the centre of the bridge, Karn began to order his crew to respond to the threats. "Shields up, engine's full foward. I want to get as much distance between us and those Destroyers, those we can out run - the fighters is another story." The orders carried across the bridge, and the ship lurched forwards in space. Karn continued to watch the sensor board, as more and more contacts began to light up both in front and behind them. From the current speed, the Imperial fighters would be on them in less than a minute, though the pirate fighters and Corvettes would take significantlly longer. Good, at least we will only need to focus on the Imperials for now. Karn's focus was brought back to the Imperial side of the sensor screen as an entire wing of Imperial fighters closed into firing range. "Helm, break to starboard and bring all guns unline - give them a broadside to breakup the fighter screen and then we'll pick the remainders apart." Silence was the only reply that Karn got as the ship began to bank. The high manouvrablity of the frigate allowed it to bring it's starboard guns to bare before the fighters had a chance to open fire with an effective salvo. Batteries of lasers and turbolasers opened fire at the incoming Imperial fighters. The high powered energy bolts tore apart the weakly armoured fighters before the had a chance to avoid the incoming fire, though that would be the last time that tactic would work effectively. Now the fighters began to break formation, keeping with a wingmate, while attempting to open fire on the frigate. In smaller groups, the highly manouvrable TIEs were nearly impossible for his gunners to hit unless they came in at a constant vector. While the TIE Fighters were only armed with blasters designed to fight other fighters, there were more than enough of them to inflict heavy damage on the frigate's shields if they had the chance to open fire for long enough. Karn wouldn't allow it. "Helm, begin manouvres, start shacking those TIEs up. Set all guns to fire at will, supression fire - we're not interested in kills. And prep the rear warhead launchers with mines, that should keep the TIEs away from our engines at least." As the 200 metre long frigate began to manouvre, the sensor officer called out again. "Sir, new contacts from the ISDs. Sensors are painting them as an equal mix of fighters and bombers." "Crap," was the only responce that Karn gave. "Ah, sir, that's not all - there's an advanced fighter screen coming from the Pirate position. Approximately 2 squadrons worth of fighters, warbook designates them a mixture of Z-95s, Starchasers and an unknonw - most likely an ugly." Sweat rolled down Karn's face, and the headache he'd picked up earlier in the day came back. Is that all you've got? "Continue manouvres and course heading. Concentrate on the Imperial fighters, if we're lucky the pirate's will take the opputunity up to tackle the Imps first while they're at the disadvantage. Oh, and activate our Rebel transponder, it might aid them in picking us as nuetral." Karn guessed right about not engaging the pirates first. In their first pass, they didn't break formation while plwing through any fighters that got in their way. The second wave didn't work out to well for them though, the devided their forces up and sent half on an attack run on the Wreckless Wonderer and the rest to deal with the fighters. Though now the Imperials were more than ready, they broke off a squadron of fighters to deal with the pirate threat. In a single pass, the pirate advanced fighters were cut in half, and never got a chance to engage Karn's frigate. Now the TIEs were breaking off and to engage the prirates. "Good, some breathing space. Shields, angle the deflector shields towards the Bombers when the fire. Weapons primary targets are now set to warheads and fighters are now secondary, and start to deploy those mines and prep the forward launchers with high yield warheads. After the bombers make their first pass, we'll launch some missiles up their flank. "Sensors, give me an update." "Sir, the ISDs aren't chasing us, there vector has them lined up for the planet. All Imperial fighters are headed for us, as well as a small flotilla of Pirate vessels. The majority of the pirate units are staying at the planet to defend against the pirates - they wont last long. Other than that . . . wait, long range sensors just picked up fighters . . . two squadrons jsut dropped out of hyperspace. They're hailing us sir!" Karn looked at the sensor officer with a confused face. "Ah . . . k" "Wreckless Wonderer, this is Leutenant Reece of the Rebel Alliace, looks like you guys could use a hand." "Thank the force . . . any help would be appreciated, just get us to that jump zone!" "Will do." Karn quickly swung around to Ulic, "Looks like we've got a fighting chance now - wanna take the Nova Dream out and give those Rebel fighters a hand?" Karn waited for Ulic's responce as the Rebel X-Wings and Y-Wings plotted an intercept course on the Imperial bombers.
  20. Nice, and they come with instructions . . . hmm, I might need to dig out my lego and build that E-Wing
  21. Wow, nice work there Fishy, that looks like another masterpeice underway ummm . . . . me . . . ah (rumages through hard drive) . . . ah, I've been playing with a few things, there's that easter egg picture I posted in the Easter thread I made while playing with Mental Ray in 3DS Here's the end product: http://img211.exs.cx/img211/9800/eastereggs048wv.jpg And there's this engine I've been playing around with using normal 3DS paramters with the exception of Radiosity. http://img222.exs.cx/img222/4273/engine021iq.th.jpghttp://img222.exs.cx/img222/6448/engine031zy.th.jpg http://img222.exs.cx/img222/6595/engine054bh.th.jpghttp://img222.exs.cx/img222/1778/engine079pm.th.jpg Yeah, that's pretty much all
  22. OOC: Ah, I missed your last post T'Char! Sorry about that IC: Karn smirked at the question, "Out? Well, lets see . . . it was roughly an hour, or two or possibly three. Well, you get the point." Stretching his arms, Karn stood up from the table. "Well, I'm not sure about you - though I need a fresh drink." Karn quikly left for the bar to order another drink for himself and the others still "awake" at the table. Mere moments later the bar tender handed Karn a tray with the drinks and Karn headed back. "Here you go, and for T'Char - a little pick me up. So, considering these drinks have killed half my brain cells let alone my memory, what were we talking about?"
  23. OOC: OK, it's been over a month, I think we should rap this up. Your thoughts?
  24. IC: (1138) The droids brought forth another onsaulght against the clone lines, the Scarab fighter's high powered lasers easily blasted through both rubble and Clone Trooper. There defence had failed, even with a lucky shot by the Jedi bratt, the Scarab fighter was still a functional war machine. The call for retreat was sounding all throughout the clone ranks, and slowly they all began too fall back further into the cave. IC: (3099) 3099 hunched over the difigured body of one of his troops. The clone trooepr had been hit in the head by the Scarab fighter as the droid's weapons had come online. There had been no chance of the clone survivng such a powerful blast. Though there was no time to mourn, others were laying dead on the battlefield, and 3099 himself had been injured by shrapnel. "Retreat!" 3099 repeated the order to those near by. Clutching his injured arm, 3099 began to fall back further into the cave. As he was running back he saw that A-23 and the Jedi master still holding their ground.
  25. !!!HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!! http://img211.exs.cx/img211/9800/eastereggs048wv.jpg
