  1. OOC: Been to busy latey to try anything IC: (1138) The droidekas had taken their time to get into position, though once they had the battle reached its peak. Blaster bolts rang throughout the caves, making the cave as bright as day. Running from cover to cover, 1138 and his squad mates were attempting to flank the droids in an attempt to draw fire so heavy weapons could eliminate them. And it was working, a little too well. Looking as if he were hugging the ground, 1138 could barely move a muscle without being hit by the droidekas fire. "1102, call in support. NOW!!" "Yes, sir" A breif moment later, and the squad was answered by a deafining explosion. Pearing around what little cover he had, 1138 inspected the damage. The exposed Destroyer Droids had been hit by anti-armour missiles, not even the droids shields could protect them from that kind of firepower. Now, 4 destroyer droids lay wasted and the rest spread out further to cover the gape created by the explosion. "Form up on me!" 1138 ran out from his cover, under heavy fire. Though now he had room to move, and dodge. Closing ground fast, 1138 layed down continuous fire from his DC-15 sending arcs of energy bouncing over the shields of the droids and sending static into their sensors. Now his sqaud was well within grenade range, and without hesitation three of the men in his squad threw their thermal detonators at the droid. A bright flash darkened the clones viser for a second, and when it his vision returned, there was one less droid. 1138 didn't want to take his chances on a second droid with the same tactic. If there was a living commander viewing this battle, they wouldn't let the same tactic work twice. Though, 1138 didn't get a chance to get his squad into formation. 3099 had already taken advantage of the lack of Droidekas focusing on them. Using heavy blasters, 3099 caved a section of the roof in and crushed one of two droidekas still firing on 1138 and his squad. With only one droid for them to worry about now, as well as over a squad of Clone Troopers manouvering around the droid, he knew it would fall soon. That left an entire flank of destroyer droids to fight, and they had a much better firing position. During the heat of the battle, 1138s eyes drifted over to a few droids, a dark man and Comet, the Jedi brat. To 1138's surprise he felt his heart drop as he saw Comet being carried away by the droids, outside the cave. "They're taking prisoners!" 1138 jumped to his feet and began chasing after the retreating force, on his heels was the rest of their squad. You might be a brat, though I'm letting you get taken by those Sith spitters
  2. Headlight fluid????? Haha, listen to the MP3 GAT posted.
  3. Happy birthday mate! !
  4. Beside you in Time by Nine Inch Nails
  5. Heard it before, though it never gets tired Reminds me of a guy at high school, who went to work at a Nissan dealership for work experience. Well, no-one liked him there (if you new the guy, you'd hate him too) so they played a joke on him. Next to the Nissan joint was a Holden dealership, so they decided to play a joke on him. The Nissan guys gave him a wheel that they needed to balance and told him that Holden had the weights that they needed and he needed to take the wheel over there to get it balanced - though he would need to hold the wheel perfectly level, otherwise he'd have to bring it back to Nissan for them to prep it again. And guess what, he did. Walking about 100 metres from the Nissan garage to the Holden, he held the tyre perfectly level all the way. Took him over 20 minutes to get the tyre to Holden, just for them to tell him that they had given the weight back to Nissan Ah, some people are so gullable . . . Speaking of which - I havn't topped up my headlight fluid lately
  6. For Trej, And now I was attacked by Vorlord, who stole $440,000 from me Everytime I get enough money to get into a decent postion I'm attacked!!!! EDIT: My minor revenge:
  7. It is just a cut scene, so you'd have to replace the movie with new ones. I'm pretty sure you can do it, though you'd first need to create a new movie and then figure out how to get it into the game - probably using resource hacker or something like that.
  8. To dig up an old thread, I found this in my newspaper today: Sounds interesting
  9. Yeah, the current pull down menu can get annoying when trying to select a different pull down menu. Most of the time I accidently scroll over the main pull down and then can't get to the Forums menu. And yeah, a site that works on all browsers would be neat - though I use IE so I have no qualms
  10. A classic it is indeed. "Sir, we've been jammed!" "Strawberry jam, I only know of one person who used Strawberry jam. Lonestar." I use to watch it as much as Star Wars a few years back, right up until the tape died and I lost it One of these days I'll get the DVD, one of these days "I see your swartz is as big as mine!"
  11. They do that when the graphics suck, it's similar to blurring a picture when a person isn't good looking (and trying to hide it). Though the glow effect has been added to quite a few games coming up in an effort to "pretty" it up. A bit like the upcoming Morrowind, though BFII is just over baord. I fail to see the enthusiasm, seems pretty obvious for a 3D game. Would seem obvious, though the last few 3d rts I've played don't allow you to zoom out all that much. Look at Generals, Warcraft III and even FoCom (yeah, not new - but in the same field) didn't zoom out that much. Lately, the engines are more designed around soley being able to zoom in and see all the detail they've put into their models. Which is all good, and can be useful in some battles - though as I've found with Generals it becomes extremely annoying when you're trying to fight on a large front. Of course, I'm yet to try any of the Total War series and judging form what you and GAT have said about those games I doubt they're plagued with the problem. While I agree that would be cool I can't spot the place where the SD is actually breaking apart. Can you tell me where exactly the SD is falling apart? It looks all in one piece exception for that fire on the tip. Well, the VSD is loosing its nose, and there's a screeny earlier on with an ISD breaking completely apart, which is it obviously being completely destroyed. The rest was more or less hopeful expectation that it wasn't beeing destroyed in that shot, just badly damaged. There's also a sequence showing an ISD getting ripped apart by some fighter: http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swempireatwar/images/screenshots/45.jpg to http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swempireatwar/images/screenshots/42.jpg Which makes it look as if ISDs aren't that strong Then again it could have been fighting a MC80 before hand for all we know . . . and hope Hmm, but I'm sure even XWA had it, they just put blaster marks textures on it, it's not very hard :-\. Tones of games have decal damage effects, and XWA had ship breaking apart once they were completely destroyed. EaW seems to have both, which once more just a graphical feature - though I'd assume it would mean that they'd need more time for repairs and they'd loose more systems/weapon implacements or something apart from a big 'ol chunk of metal Maybe for their sequel they'll make it more like Rebellion . Wishful thinking I guess I'm more or less trying not to write this game out like the most of the other SW games to have came out lately. This is probably the only one I'm looking forward to, and it seems it's just going to be a change of pace.
  12. "May the swartz be with yooooooou," Call now and you will get a free Star Destroyer of your choosing as well as a Yogurt! Strawberry yogurt? No, just plain old yogurt. But wait, there's more: Swartz in a can! Conditions may apply, no Black Helmets allowed
  13. OOC: Yeah, for the last few posts I've been in the same mood GL was in when he put lines like: "Why do I have the feeling you'll be the death of me Anakin" into Episode II IC: Bewildered by his own responce, Karn attempted to answer the question. "Echidna? It's this little, ball creature thingy, with spikes and . . .ah with . . . anyway, what was it that you said then?"
  14. OOC: Hey, it's sci-fi, the "new" alcohol: it's effects last only momentarily IC: Karn's eye's. "Wow, Boba Fett . . . "the" Boba Fett had a dad!?! I thought that guy was made out of the remenants of an Imperial Star Destroyer, and you're trying to tell me he's a mere man and he had a father?!?" Scratching his 5 o'clock shadow, Karn continued his intoxicated rant, "Well, some things never cease to amaze. So what's the Echidna thing you guys are talking about?"
  15. On the 25th of April, 1915 - Only 15 years after the federation of Australia - the newly formed Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) entered the first World War at the Gallipoli peninsula. That day, over 8,000 Australian soldiers were killed on the shores of Gallipoli and many more were to die before they were ordered to pull out. Now, every April 25th Australians and New Zealanders remember those who have fallen in the battles over the years fighting for the ultimate freedom, for their country, for their friends and for their family. Lest We Forget
  16. Hahaha Thanks mate, I guess he wont mess with us much anymore I've just spent most of my money getting my defence up to 20,480 - which I hope is enough to keep enemies a way whilst I build up my attack past my current 12,568 and then I'll start dealing out some damage. I think I'll start working on my spies soon as well. @Tchar: Bugger mate, that sucks. We definetly need to get this SWR Alliance up so we can "deal" with these annoyances
  17. Wow, I hope she's a clone So, where can I enlist?
  18. No problems mate, sounded like it was a good one! I found that the best movie in the game was when the Rebels take Coruscant. Well, that was my favourite at least.
  19. Well, I was just browsing around Lucasarts site, looking at BF II and thinking does everything have to glow now? Anyway, I "stumbled" into the EaW section, and found a few interesting screenies up: http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swempireatwar/images/screenshots/62.jpg http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swempireatwar/images/screenshots/70.jpg These shot gave me great excitement at seeing the distance you can zoom out on the battlefield, after all we've already seen numerous times that you can zoom up to infantry, though now you can zoom right out to get a great look of the battlefield. http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swempireatwar/images/screenshots/68.jpg Not the first shot showing an SD breaking apart. What's interesting is that they're not going to have the ships just going "kaboom", but maybe fall apart in the process. This shot also makes it look like this VSD has suffered serious damage and is still fighting. So, the game still looks promising, and less like the usual Lucasart cop-out games of late (Battleground, battlefront anyone?).
  20. Strange, from what I've read in books and different soruces (Like RPG sources) state that the EV wasn't armend with the ISD mk II's normal weapons. Hmm, I'll have to find the stats. EDIT: Found them in the NJO source book. It's got 10 turbolasers, 10 ioncannons, 2 tractor beams and its shields are only half strength. Other than, there's little difference.
  21. Strange, I've never had that problem - and being an Alliance man, they're the first I edit. Does it crash as soon as the game loads or due to an event ingame?
  22. Probably, though not when it comes out straight away - only due to Uni commitments. Judging from the graphics of the game, my gig of RAM, Radeon 9800 pro and AMD 64-bit 3000+ wont be able to go all out with my usual 100+ fleets. Oh well, I could always go buy some Alienware system with dual Hyperthreaded P4s, 3 gig of RAM, PCI Express and a quad set up of GeForce 6800 Ultras . . . but then again, that's only a dream
  23. Not to my knolledge, in my latest game I've put the price of everything to a quater of what it use to be - so I've got 6 fleets with over 100 ships each, and several hundred fighter squadrons. My largest is something like 250+ ships and 500 or so fighter squadrons. Not to mention that everyone of my planets has at least 6 regiments as garrison, and I control half the core worlds as well as several rim sectors. The game engine does, however, experience lag once fleets start to reach these numbers. You'll find you send a fleet to a planet and nothing will happen for a few seconds, and then it'll move by itself
  24. Karn heard the words, though his intoxicated mind conjured up a strange holodrama. Clones!!! Attack of the clones!!! Shacking his head, is vision blurred though is mind cleared. "Ah . . . wait, wait. Hold on . . . yeah, clones . . . the clone war. Right oh, I'm with it now. "Umm, from what I've heard down the 'net - and from what the Empire has gotten rid of - I'm pretty sure they were clean slate clones. So any training was what ever the Empire gave them. "And from the way that war went, I doubt there was much above basic training. The few holos I've seen of their battles makes me think that the clones were only marginally better than the droids - they could hit better, and dodge quicker! "Still, they had their commando units, and something called ARE . . . ARS . . . ARC? I don't know, something like that. Which implies they could train them with a high degree of skill. "Oh yeah, the question . . . I'd say they only specialised in weaponary - if that." Knocking back another shot, Karn cleared his throat and continued. "Oh yeah, that hang over will last about a year."
  25. "Been spendin' most our lives, living in an Amish paradise . . . " Listening to the awesome music of a 3.6 litre Boxster 6 in a Porsche GT3 I wish I had that car
