  1. Well Tolkien did spend a lot of time developing his universe. He even created the languages used and so on. Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed reading the Hobbit and the Lord of the Ring series. In terms of movies that are based on books, the LOTR movies are the best done no doubt.
  2. The Ssi-Ruuvi as a threat? HAHAHAHA. They had what, one star system or something. That hardly constitutes a threat. Even if they had gotten Bakura it wouldnt have meant anything if the Emperor was still alive and the Empire intact.
  3. That and Galaxies from what I heard sucks. Anyway, lets hope that they change their image like what Grand Admiral Thrawn said and they are gonna stop this whole cookie-cutter factory gaming thing they been doing lately.
  4. I dont know who you are but welcome back regardless
  5. Cool. Thats more or less the conclusion I arrived. As a bit of a philosophical idea regarding the government of the SW galaxy...does anyone think that the Empire was better for the galaxy than the Vong? In my opinion despite it being an 'Empire' it did in fact bring for the most part peace. The Empire stopped many of the injustices that the Old Republic had allowed. I know some would argue that Palpatine orchestrated the whole thing but it has been mentioned in novels and so on that the Republic was very corrupt and that the Senators, the vast majority of them had been only interested in their own power base. I think in the case of the SW galaxy that the Empire was needed to maintain the peace. There literally was just way way too many systems/planets/etc for them to all be governed by a body of elected representatives. One thing everyone should keep in mind is that in a democracy there is a lot of talk that goes on before making decisions...in a galaxy of millions of systems where time is of great importance one cant afford to be debating about raising taxes in a sector when you have a whole galaxy to govern. I think overall the Empire was a needed 'evil' and as the Vong have shown us had the Empire been in existence then Ithor and Coruscant for example would not have been devastated, not including the other worlds the Vong destroyed.
  6. Cool deal. Reminds me when I found this site many many years ago. Most of the people here are newcomers who I dont know. Igor, Evader and Stratus and Paul as well as Grand Admiral Thrawn are the names coming to my mind who were members back when I was before it switched to this new layout. Even though my thing says I joined in 2002 I actually was a member long before like back in 1999. Anyway, I found this site when I was looking around for this editor, RebEd, and I decided to join up to see about any new ways of modding Rebellion and making it play better and that sort of thing. In any event its good to see new members. I just hope some of you newbies will stick around and not vanish after all the excitement caused by Revenge of the Sith and some of the new games coming out dies down.
  7. Actually that 'shield' generator wasnt a shield generator for the ship as a whole. It was a simple atmosphere shield generator for the hangar bay. The Invisible Hand (Grievous' ship) according to the novel had been in a heavy engagement with Republic Venerators so its possible that during a broadside or something the rest of the shields were knocked down allowing Anakin and Obi Wan to shoot the atmospheric shield generator. That point didnt bother me, it was just some of the other special effects crap that Lucas had thrown in which substituted from the story and didnt add anything, yes nice eyecandy. Oh well.
  8. I recall reading in one of Zahn's books how it was mentioned that the rebels were fortunate they had never encountered the full might of the Empire. Supposedly the Empire's vast fleet was in fact having to patrol and maintain order. Something that the New Republic would not realize until they had dissolved to the point of nothing militarily and planets and other systems started feuding with one another.
  9. Actually since you mentioned the good guys thing, I wanted to add this idea. It is clear that Palpatine is evil yes, but is he even more evil than the Vong? I mean really, if the Empire had been allowed to stay in existence would as many planets and people have been killed off under the empire than had happened under the Vong?
  10. I definitely agree with the part about the author.
  11. Thats true Zsing was mentioned more in the X-wing books but nevertheless he made for a more interesting character than Daala did. All Daala accomplished was losing the Maw Installation, losing all of her Star Destroyers (in darksaber it was mentioned she lost her last ship) and in general being an incompetent leader. I hate KJA's books with a passion.
  12. Do not mention his name... It brings dark times Dark times..before the Empire. Sorry couldnt resist hehe
  13. I am assuming thats techno. As for my song, Giorgio Moroder - Tony's Theme (yes its from Scarface, the theme song that played throughout the movie)
  14. hum hum... well if I was you, I wouldn't count on it toooooooo much...
  15. Personally I didnt find Daala all that exciting. If anything maybe they should have expanded some more on Warlord Zsinj. I didnt like the way he died at Dathomir.
  16. The Offspring - Gotta Keep Them Separated
  17. There are simply just way way way too many novels for me to pick from in order to choose the worst one. Hmmmmm.... In the end I think the Black Fleet Crisis. We have Luke on a search for his mom which never concludes, instead he meets someone else and this weird current thing. I think Lando is also chasing some weird ship around too.
  18. Go to google and type in Sun Java or something like that. You should get a ton of hits.
  19. Lets hope they stay around for a while too. Always nice to see fresh faces.

    Book

Dont read the Kevin J Anderson series. I think it was Jedi Academy or something. I have so many gripes with his work. I dont like how he created a Jedi that is supposedly stronger than Luke (Kyp Durron). Way too many super weapons and dumbing down of ship firepower. (Suncrusher) and the stupid Darksaber. Ugh I hated those books.
  21. That is a nice lightsaber. I wish my photoshop skills etc were good but alas I suck.
  22. I agree with most of the points brought up. I want to just vent something that in my opinion is why the original A New Hope was so good even though Lucas directed it etc... The reason why it was good is that Lucas didnt substitute special effects for story and character development etc. In the prequels...Lucas has in my opinion allowed the 'story' to be substituted for the special effects. I will admit, the prequels have some amazing special effects. Really superb special effects, but special effects should be used to 'enhance' a story not be the story itself. I think Lucas has forgotten that and so we have the end result which are the prequels -- stories with too much special effects and not enough character.
  23. Good luck and I hope you have fun with the game. I havent actually played Rebellion in years sadly. Its hard to find the time to play it when I had college going on and now graduate school and the search for a full time job continues etc.
  24. Hahahaha hurling a teddy bear at each other. Oh my stomach.
  25. Hahahahahahaha.
