Research Over Time or Research with Characters?
Skynxnex replied to Jacen_Fel's question in Questions from Newbies
Hmmm...I hope your right. Just means next time I fire up a game of Rebellion that I need to use RebEd and give my research guys larger bonuses. -
Good question. I decided to not PM you this because others might have a similar question. First of all, at the top of the webpage is the Forums blue (blue on my computer anyway) link...if you move your mouse over it a little window should pop up and have some choices. One of them is profile. In profile, you can add to your signature and Avatar (avatar appears under your name). I use imageshack I believe to host those gifs that you see associated with my name here. Like the Sidious lightning and the Anakin temple march. If you want something similar, you need to upload an image to a hosting service or something. Once you have done so in Profile, you use the following html command ---> link%20to%20picture%20here where the 'link to picture' is where you paste in the hyperlink. So for example lets say my Sidious gif link is http://www.sidioiuskicksbutt I take this link and do it like so --> http://www.sidioiuskicksbutt and there you have it. If you need any help send me a PM * I had to put spaces in the link thing otherwise it wouldnt show..normally you dont allow any spaces.

So wait a minute...did you get the AI to move more into the outer rim? I find in most of my games that the AI just stays for the most part in the Core and thats it. Since I am imperial usually...I trounce the AI somewhat fast. But it would be great if the AI actually colonized the outer rim.

Um, your not trying to uh get it illegally are you?

Research Over Time or Research with Characters?
Skynxnex replied to Jacen_Fel's question in Questions from Newbies
Honestly, I have no idea if the 'researcher' helps speed things along or not. All I know is in some of my games I was getting schooled because I couldnt build enough Lancers to destroy the rebel fighters. My regular TIE Fighters were not quite up to par for the task. -
I dont recommend putting Palpatine on the Death Star. When he is on Coruscant you get that massive leadership bonus to all imperial officers (and by officers I mean characters acting as a general, admiral or commander). Maybe Vader or someone else on the Death Star sure, but dont put Palps there.

I am not sure how we are trying to measure what exactly is the best fighter. If its from the TIE Fighter games, then the TIE Defender is the best. It has more maneuverability than anything else. Powerful shields, more guns (ion guns) and a hypderdrive. The X-wing and so on cant take on a TIE Defender in an 'even' match and expect to win. Heck the TIE Avenger/Avanced is even better.

Planet: Bilbringi Rebel Occupied It was another day, another day in the civil war that was engulfing the galaxy. Admiral Ackbar looked out on the bridge of his mon calamari cruiser inspecting the various ships that were assembled there. Bilbringi had become a key planet that helped to provide the Rebellion with resources, and most importantly ships which were needed to combat the Empire. Ackbar was expecting a typical routine day. He was wrong. Alarm klaxons sounded. "Admiral!," shouted one of his Aides. "We have Imperial ships coming out of Hyperspace." "What are the types and the number?" "Sir, so far an Imperial fleet of 6 Imperial-class and a larger number of Victory's...alright the last Victory has appeared. Count is at 14 Victory IIs." Ackbar had a grimace on his face. This fleet would not be easy to destroy. His fleet consisted of the smaller calamari cruisers, only 6 plus numerous smaller support ships such as Carracks. "Admiral....sithspawn! Interdictor cruisers have just emerged. Gravity wells are now in operation," said his aide. Immediately a huge white flash went off which stunned the officers on Ackbar's flagship. "Status?" queried Ackbar. "Um..sir. It appears the Interdictors are here for a reason. Death Star is now on approach." --------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope that little bit was entertaining to any of you who read through it. Apart from the point of view from Ackbar's perspective this was a battle I fought as the Empire. I hyperspaced in a large fleet that had a Death Star in it. I had finally found a major shipyard production planet that the Alliance was using. This was also one of my first times using the Death Star. After I destroyed the fleet and captured Ackbar I ordered my Death Star to destroy Bilbringi since it had twin shields and I couldnt invade it. Well, after Bilbringi became an asteroid field a huge wave of uprisings went on throughout the Core. I learned that sometimes using the Death Star's planet destruction capabilities is not wise. But anyway, I wanted to write a short short short story thing to open up my Death Star uprising segment here.

LOL Imperial Cigs..oh my.

Guys...its not really cheating. If the Empire can make the Death Star II in like 6 months (ROTJ novelization) then it should be perfectly feasible to make a smaller ship in less than 250 days. I didnt know about the mass edit feature that GAT talked about though. Usually when I do it..I have to manually edit those settings one at a time per ship.

I find that the AI in general doesnt build very big fleets even if I lower the production numbers and the maintenance costs. As a result I dont build massive fleets like the ones listed here. My largest fleet consisted of: 8-10 Strike Cruisers 6-8 Imperial StarDestroyers II 1-Super Star Destroyer 15-Lancer frigates 14-16 Victory StarDestroyer IIs Ful compliment of fighters (usually TIE Defenders) To me thats a big fleet. Does anyone know how to make the AI build bigger fleets anyway?

I was reading some more about this game on their main page. I will admit...the game looks to be more exciting and fun than I originally thought it would be. I still dont necessarily think it will be as grand as Rebellion to some extent. But, if what I read is true about their being something like 60-80 planets and with 2 areas of battles to happen the game could be much grander and epic than I originally thought.

Personally I dont like iTunes much. I think Winamp has much better options for playing music and creating different sound effects for them than iTunes. Its unfortunate that Apple in its desire to be more like Microsoft forces you to use their iTunes software in order to use one of their products (iPod). To me thats almost something you would expect of Microsoft not Apple. Ah well.

Kaja did you get my last PM to you about the parts and so on? You never replied after I sent it.

Linkin Park - By Myself

I have gotten a natural disaster before too. I hate how after it happens you cant get anymore of those stupid energy slots.

Winamp. It really whips the llama's ass.

I read something like that in the novel as well. It really only makes sense that the use of the normal Palpatine appearance was for a much more...hmm public friendlier image than the true nature of Palpatine. Dont get me wrong, it is still possible that Palpatine was in fact being consumed by the darkside, but I think his appearance now is how it has always been. For instance during the duel between Mace and Palpy, I think the novel makes it clear that Palpy was winning. Mace really stood no chance at all and if you watch the scene again all Palpy is doing is using up time before Anakin gets there. One thing that we do know from this film is that Palpatine has an incredible power at seeing the future and he knows how to use this knowledge to further his own ends. For instance its clear that Palpatine knew that if he appointed Anakin to the Jedi Council, he knew they wouldnt like it and refuse to make Anakin a master.
-
Actually he has no reason to go back to his illusion. The Jedi are now more or less destroyed and his 'mask' succeeded in getting Anakin to turn to the darkside. Plus as we saw in his speech, he uses the 'transformation' as a Jedi trick saying that they scarred him and deformed him. Now that he is the Emperor it doesnt matter anymore.

Hahahaaha I saw that one too actually, very funny I agree!

Ok I just saw the movie myself. Now there are some spoilers that follow so if you havent seen the movie..HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE DONT CONTINUE READING MY POST. Ahem. I felt that the movie was...cut...very weirdly. It seemed to jump around which left me wondering..wtf? Haha. Anyway, George seemed to cut this movie in a very odd way. He still had cheesy lines going on...ugh. Another nitpick of mine..he seemed to make it almost more kiddy in my opinion. Dammit. This movie got a pg-13 rating and now the fricking droid fighters in space got voices? So dumb. The battledroids also had dumb voices too. Thankfully Jar Jar was more or less non-existent. Also Lucas seemed to get Ian Mcdiarmid ( the emperor) some stupid lines like when Dooku is fighting Anakin. Also the saber battle was not long enough between these two. Lucas really really should have tried to copy Return of the Jedi and have Dooku taunt him more and that sort of thing. Then Anakin finally breaks free with his anger and then win. I sort of had that pictured in my mind. There were so many elements of that from Return that I dont see why he didnt try to imitate that more. With that said, some things were kind of cool. I thought seeing Anakin become more dark and so on was cool. To me it was clear that Palpy could have beaten Mace. He gave in way too easily and I know the reason why was to have him convert Anakin over. Lets see, the fight between Yoda and the emperor should have been better done in my opinion. To me it seemed like an almost stalemate. Yet in the novel it made it more or less clear that Yoda knew he couldnt win. Oh well. It was fun to watch but I will admit overall I was disappointed. I was hoping some of the cheesiness had been lost.

HAHAHAHAHA That made me laugh. lol

I have read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings series almost 10 times if not more. Dont get me wrong, his universe is pretty cool but I guess I like the D&D setting better which seems to have more magical stuff going on. At least in my opinion.

GOOD NEWS or Bad news ?! (Empire at War - E3)
Skynxnex replied to Cain's topic in General Discussion
Man I still think your getting way way way too excited about this Cain. I do admit that its nice they are upping the planets..20 seemed to little and if the Death Star destroys worlds then 20 would mean one easy game once the Imperial side got the Death Star. Anyway, the videos looked good and I have no doubt the game will be fun...but I dont think the game will be anything like Rebellion. -
You have to understand, Lucas has set that movies rank the highest followed by novels in terms of the canon hierarchy. Since the movie didnt violate what was written in the novel it is safe to assume that that is the reason why Yoda left. Also, one should keep in mind that the Emperor had been using a 'shroud of the darkside' that seemed to limit the jedi abilities. This is in reference to certain quotes from AOTC.
