  1. 3 Death Stars in the same fleet..nice.
  2. Well, I will complain if I feel that the control set up sucks. As I said before, for a first-person shooter game I shouldnt have to go out and BUY a whole other control system (like a joystick) and plug it in. If the game in question was originally a simulator game such as Flight Simulator or Mechwarrior then thats a different story. The point being though that this game markets itself as a first-person shooter game with squad combat and tactics etc...yet if you want to use all of the cool vehicles and actually fly them / operate them in a proficient manner you need a fricking joystick. Anyway, on a whole whenever I played Battlefield 2 as you pointed out the server browsing sucks and for whatever reason there is a ton of lag associated with large maps with a large number of people playing.
  3. Linkin Park - P5hng Me Awy
  4. Well, I tried flying a heli with my mouse in the demo and that didnt work very well. Same thing with a jet. I dont know how people could turn as fast and sharp as they did without a joystick. At any rate, most people I know who have the game said they like it better with a joystick for flying.
  5. Yeah, even then China...their future is not as bright as everyone has been hyping. China was once this huge magnet for cheaper labor for manufacturing centers to be set up. Guess what, the Chinese government has been tightening the environmental laws as well as raising the minimum wage. The effect this has had wont be quite noticeable yet but a lot of manufacturers which were originally planning on expanding operations in China are now considering moving to a country which has cheaper wage rates like Vietnam. As for the source, its not one I found online but I read it in the Wall Street Journal a few months ago. China's economy will in my opinion slow down very drastically in the next few years. One of the prime tenets of economic success is that workers tend to demand higher wages and better working conditions. Also, governments and the people (citizens) also want better environmental protection. The problem is that the Chinese government was so anxious to get people to invest there for business that they didnt realize that a lot of their growth cannot be sustained indefinitely. Why does this happen? The bottom-line. Bottom-line is a term used in accounting, it means profits or losses. A company that is assembling shoes does NOT WANT to pay say 3 dollars an hr to a worker if they could get the same shoe assembled for maybe 1 dollar an hr in a country where the wage rate is lower. Its just common business sense, the management wants to increase profits and lower the cost of production. One thing that irks me is how a lot of people keep referring to the US economy as though it was still a manufacturing economy. It isnt. The US economy now is primarily a service economy. More money is generated by service businesses than by manufacturing businesses.
  6. You need to use the program known as RebEd which is located on this site in the downloads section.
  7. The funny thing is, some of that so-called 'organic' food still uses pesticides and other chemicals.
  8. I was gonna say I played the demo as well. The game itself is cool but I do agree that it weighs way way way too much towards the use of vehicles. Specifically the heavy vehicles. I have had players camp the vehicle spawning points waiting for a tank to players using jets to bomb the spawn points to kill people respawning. I realize that yes its part of the game, but the whole point of a game is for it to be FUN. If a game is not fun then it stops being a game and becomes WORK. For me Battlefield 2 started becoming work and I dont want to 'work' when I am having or rather trying to have fun. My other pet peeve with this game (at least from what I had seen in the demo) is that if you really want to use an air vehicle (helicopter/jet) you really need a joystick. For me its pretty sad for a first-person shooter game for you to have to hop in this vehicle and then break out with a different controlling mechanism other than my mouse. I guess what I mean is that if I wanted to fly planes with a joystick I would play a flight simulator game, not a first person shooter. For a first person shooter game I want to be able to use just about anything with my keyboard and mouse. I should not have to go out and get a joystick for such a game, unless its a flight simulator game.
  9. Roman themes from the Rome Total War game.
  10. I read that book too. It sounds very much like the Black Fleet Crisis where Luke become a wimp and didnt want to use his Force powers or something.
  11. Hahaahahahaha. That post made me laugh and yes I agree. Despite my whining about the ewoks, they were far more tolerable than most of what the prequels had. As for some of the other points people mentioned. The clones were NOT inherently evil. Your trying to blame someone/some people for something that they cannot control. The Order 66 that Palpatine issues is obviously a command that was buried in the psyche of the clones. We actually see onscreen how the clones got along with their Jedi commanders. One of them, forgot his name, even gave Obi Wan back his lightsaber. The thing is though is that from the time they were 'born' they were conditioned. Part of the conditioning as we saw was this Order 66 command. At that moment in the movie we now understand WHY they used clones. Had it have been regular conscripts they could have balked at the order. The clones though could not. They had to obey the order. Also, if the clones were 'evil' then the Jedi should have detected that. The fact they did not and fought with the clones for over 4 yrs leading them in battles and so on indicates a certain amount of trust. At the end of RoTS it is clear what the Clone Wars was all about. It was nothing more than a way for Palpatine to do two things. The first one was for him to gain power legitimately. The second thing was for him to have the Jedi destroyed. He masterfully accomplished those two goals. The Clone Wars was a conflict that in the SW had not taken place in thousands of years. The sad thing is, it was so destructive YET its only purpose was a way for Palpatine to whittle down the numbers of the Jedi. With the end of the war more or less in sight that was when Palpatine issued the infamous Order 66 which eliminated MOST of the Jedi. Obviously not all Jedi were with clones or in battles at the time but it did effectively help the Emperor to get rid of the most powerful. The Clone overall are actually tragic in the sense that their sole purpose in life is to fight. They were genetically engineered to obey and for them to fight to the death.
  12. Yeah that fleet is ridiculous. Hopefully you had a fast computer to run all of that. However, a battle at that scale would be a LOT OF FUN at least I think so anyway. Hehe.
  13. The one woman, forgot her name but the one that was helping out the Stargate team..she was very hot.
  14. It could be that Palpatine doesnt need a lightsaber. I mean really who can get him now? After Yoda failed to kill him in RoTS no one can touch him now. Security will be too tight and its impossible. Also, I could counter and say that Palpatine has progressed beyond the need to have a lightsaber. Palpatine over the next 20 some odd yrs has undoubtedly expanded his knowledge of the Force. We already know from canon novel source (the ROTJ novel) that Palpatine could use battle meditation subconsciously to drive the Imperial military. At any rate, I am inclined to not bother arguing this point anymore. As I said before, its up to our interpretation. What you see in the movie is different than what I see.
  15. I agree with Darth Tex. I think many of you are simply comparing the Prequels and the Originals without using some logic. When Lucas made those Originals HE COULDNT DO ALL OF THAT FLIPPING CRAP we see a lot of the Jedi doing. It was impossible. He didnt have the budget. Also many of you seem to think that being fast like that and flashy is a good thing. A true master, be it in Martial Arts or Sword fighting knows that one should dispatch his opponent with as minimal effort as possible. To conserve energy and so on. I will not buy into the idea that Obi Wan and the others 'got weaker' as time went on. That doesnt make any sense. If we followed that logic was Dooku then so powerful despite him being old? To be perfectly blunt, its a problem Lucas created with inconsistencies and there wont be much of a way to resolve unless we use what we, 'ourselves', think of the movies. As for me, I believe they got more powerful as time went on and dropped the need for all of those flashy moves because they didnt have to use them anymore. As I said before, Anakin in AOTC was literally using the Force against Dooku to slow him down. Many people said that Vader was weaker in the Originals..I somehow fail to see how. He choked Ozzel from a very long distance away, remember he did via hologram/comm display. Vader could have been KILOMETERS away. In ESB he rips large devices off of walls and throws them at Luke. In ROTS all he did after being in the suit was smash what appeared mostly hollow stuff in. Believe me, its not hard to smash hollow stuff in. Ripping devices that were mounted into a wall as we saw in ESB is much harder. Did anyone notice that Vader fought with one hand usually? I have already explained to most of you that he WAS NOT TRYING to kill Luke. He wanted to turn Luke. If Vader had gotten so weak after being put in the suit why didnt the Emperor get a new apprentice? We know from canon sources that he has Hands and other force trained operatives. The reason is simple, even with his suit on, Vader is still the most powerful Jedi.
  16. Yes that was Luke Skywalker, not a mere Padawan. Luke is, next to Vader, arguably the most powerful Jedi ever. Being the Son of the Chosen One has a lot of benefits. Tell me, if Obi and Yoda thought Vader was so weak why did they stay in hiding for so long?
  17. Well, you have to remember that Vader had been a loyal servant for a good number of years. Plus the Emperor underestimated his apprentice. As we saw in RoTS Palpatine likes to lie to him. When Vader was watching his son die that was what brought him back from the darkside and he redeemed himself. Anyway as for some of the other points. Granted in the originals they didnt have the special effects capabilities that we do today but using the movies as a sign of saying that Jedi get weaker with age is a little silly. Yoda for example is ridiculously old yet he has a lot of speed still. Vader in the Originals, at least the way I looked at it, he was simply so powerful he didnt NEED to flip around be super fast. Its been supported in the novels for instance like in AOTC that as a padawan Anakin was using the Force to slow down Dooku etc and Dooku was surprised that a mere padawan was able to display such skill with use of the Force. Look at ESB, during the fight with Luke we see Vader ripping out of walls various devices and flinging them at Luke. Since when in the prequels do we see someone simultaneously attacking with a lightsaber AND flinging things. We dont, not even the Emperor in RoTS was flinging things at the same time he was using his lightsaber. This almost opens up the debate of "could Luke beat Vader" etc. Well one thing you have to remember is that Vader NEVER wanted to kill his son. Its been stated throughout the novels and indeed we see it in the movies where he simply wants to turn Luke. Luke is his last connection to his wife. He isnt interested in his only (at least from what he knew before reading his son's mind) that Luke was his last living relation here in the galaxy. One thing I hate about midichlorians is that it makes it seem like the more you have the more powerful you are in the Force. I liked it better when the originals described it as a simple mysterious energy field created by life and a Jedi learns how to tap into this etc.
  18. Well I do have to agree with Igor that Lucas did take one huge piss on the Expanded Universe and flushed it all down the toilet. Seriously, after Episode 1 came out I stopped buying Star Wars books. Lucas created more inconsistencies by running off with his own ideas and totally ignoring the EU..the same EU that brought Star Wars back into the mainstream again and he pissed it all away. For example, the Thrawn Trilogy. Zahn hinted that the Clone Wars was some kind of massive war where the clones went insane and attacked everyone. Instead, Lucas decided to piss on that and create his own version of the Clone Wars. Very sad really. So yeah I see Igor's point and agree.
  19. Hahahaha that was so silly. The part about Bevel was funny too.
  20. I dont like never ending battles. It gets boring very fast and then you are just sitting there wondering what is left to do.
  21. Uh..what? Yes he was in the dark side when he found out about the twins, that was in ROTJ in the Emperor's Throne Room. He was trying to seduce Luke to the darkside and he read Luke's mind and goes "So..you have a twin sister. Obi Wan was wise to hide her from me. Now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the darkside then perhaps she will" and Luke just attacked Vader practically turning to the darkside himself. As for your other point about Yoda, it could be possible that he did use the Force to mask himself. The thing is that is relying on the EU. I was trying to make a point straight from the movie. We know from logic that Palpatine has Jedi in his office all the time. Since the Jedi never detected that he was a Sith or read his mind, it follows that it has to be a conscious effort on behalf of a Jedi to read someone's mind. Or, maybe Palpatine was using the Force to shield his mind. The problem with that again is that Palpatine is drawing on the Force to do something and a Jedi should be able to detect something like that. Think about it too from this perspective. A Jedi cannot function on a huge city-world like Coruscant if IF they read minds without effort. On Coruscant there are countless beings that live there. Trillions is just the tip of the iceberg. With so many minds thinking about whatever a Jedi would go crazy from being bombarded by all the thoughts people were having. More than likely a Jedi's mind reading ability is dependent on their desire to actually expend some degree of 'effort' to do so. Much like any Force skill, the Force user has to consciously be drawing on the Force to for example levitate themselves or jump super high etc.
  22. Hahahaaha I see that Cain got Igor to post there finally. I am almost tempted to join up too...we will see.

  24. I agree. Here in the US, specifically VA there was this one fellow whose name escapes me, but anyway he runs a mosque I think over in Alexandria and his sermons are nothing more than talking about how the West deserves to be bathed in fire or something. I agree that its startling and I also agree with your other point that the community itself needs to do something. I dont think muslims can afford to be a silent majority and let these fanatics do what they want. If this continues we will eventually go into a culture war I am sure. That is, a war with no real economic reason behind it (which most wars are) but rather one based on different cultural values that are in a clash against one another. Condemning the attacks is fine, but more needs to be done. Advocating people to go and kill themselves for Allah or whoever is just wrong.
  25. I never said the renders were bad, I think they are quite good. I just wasnt impressed with FoCom. Sigh.
