  1. Guys guys guys. Leia is not as strong as Luke is. She might have Jedi potential but she isnt up to Luke's level. I am pretty sure that its canon fact that Luke is arguably the strongest Jedi to ever come in existence. Its been strongly hinted at in most novels (with the exception of Kevin J Anderson because for whatever reason he created Kyp Duron). At any rate, Vader can read minds, he read Luke's mind in ROTJ in case anyone forgot. He also mentioned in ANH that "her resistance to the mind probe is considerable. It will take some time to extract anything useful" or something like that. Vader can read minds. Most of you I think are forgetting that using the Force is a conscious endeavor. Anakin was undoubtedly wrapped up into too much emotion and rage that he didnt bother to focus on the children that Padme was carrying. Much like how Palpatine didnt sense Yoda till he knocked the Imperial Royal Guards over in that one scene in RoTS. A Force user has to be consciously using the Force and draw on it to use its power. Not all the time do they draw on it. Think about Palpatine, had he been constantly drawing on the Force why didnt the Jedi detect him then? We see in AOTC that he has conferences with Jedi in his very own office. It goes without saying then that had he started drawing on the force in their presence they would have noticed it. Much like reading minds, its something that requires a conscious effort. Otherwise again, why didnt the Jedi detect that Palpatine was a Sith Lord?
  2. I am hoping it will mostly be a single player game with some kind of missions or something to propel the story along. I enjoy doing skirmish games against the computer as much as the next guy but I do like to follow a story of some sort too.
  3. Well, very true. Like I said though, I just dont want to get my hopes up. I have gotten my hopes up for a lot of games and I ended up being 'heartbroken'. However, it is nice to see a game developer taking into account ideas like mods and so on which will undoubtedly let the game live longer. Thats one of the reasons why Half Life kept selling as long as it did. Many people were buying Half Life for the Counter-Strike mod.
  4. LOL. Well as it was mentioned before, we wont really know for certain till Lucas clears this up, either by an update on the Star Wars databank website OR through an EU story.
  5. Personally, the Wachowski brothers are the biggest screw-ups at least in my opinion. They took a cool idea like the Matrix and somehow went off on this weird well whatever it was. I dont know how to describe Reloaded or Revolutions really. As for Star Wars...well the originals which to me are Star Wars I consider those awesome..yes even ROTJ. As for the prequels...I dont put them in the same category. I know it doesnt seem logical really but I consider them to more or less sort of be its own series instead. Maybe thats how I rationalize it.
  6. Well, I mean I think EaW looks cool and all its just I dont want to hype it up too much in my mind. I listened to the hype for Battle for Middle Earth and that game was at least to me a huge disappointment. Its common Cain for people to not get too excited about a game when others have come out before it that promised a lot and delivered little. I hope the space battles will last longer and that it will be more than a simple thing of 'who has the most ships in space' affair. As it is I think the game looks very cool and hopefully it will live up to expectations...but we will see.
  7. And let us try to forget the name of that game..may it forever be banished from my memory.
  8. It goes without saying that the community as a whole wasnt responsible for the attacks, however, the community as a whole DOES NOT do much to rout out those responsible. I mean lets be realists here yes? There are a lot of prayer services, shoot even over here in Virginia I remember reading an article about this one muslim imam or prayer guy who is constantly doing nothing but railing against the west. When you have a guy who preaches on about the so-called evils of the west for hours on end and no one tells this guy to stop, it becomes easy to start brain-washing people to perform terrorist acts. Anyone remember the dutch fellow who got stabbed? He was a movie director or something and made a movie that was critical of muslims and supposedly some of the extremists got pissed off and one of them stabbed him. Terrorists forget something which should be reminded to them. Attacks on civilians simply piss people off more and it can be a rallying cry. Most Americans before the 9/11 incident really didnt give 2 cents of thought on what goes on in say Afghanistan. By killing so many people with those airplanes and doing it so suddenly it rallied the nation. I wont go into the politics of whether the US should invade another country or not. All I will say though is this, any country worth its name and credibility has a DUTY to its CITIZENS to protect them from attack. The whole point of a government is to serve its people, not make its people serve them. Letting people get away with attacking your citizens is the surest way for the politician to get voted out of office real quick. Another thing, it doesnt help when these tragedies occur for others to dance on the graves and say it was good. I recall reading a few days ago how some of the extremists on different forums were saying that the London attacks were a good thing and they got what they deserved. When you or I go around to different websites and read such trash it gets us mad and rightly so. I remember on 9/11 how I saw images of people in the West Bank dancing in the streets and burning American flags. How do you think I felt when I saw that? Anyway I wont go on about that. At any rate I am glad that it seems our resident british members here werent hurt by the attacks and hopefully no more attacks will occur.
  9. Actually, it was stated by Lucas or Nic Gillard (the stunt coordinator who choreographed the fights) that Anakin was more along the lines of being on par with Yoda and Mace Windu in terms of lightsaber ability. At this point, Anakin realized he was in fact the Chosen One and that if he wanted to in his mind, no one could beat him. Obi Wan didnt beat Anakin through superior swordsmanship, if anything go and re-watch the duel. Obi Wan was virtually ALWAYS on the defensive. The only reason he didnt die is because he knew how Anakin would fight. He wisely gave up ground to his former apprentice in the hopes of finding a better advatnage (such as terrain). His moment came when he leaped off that weird lava platform thing and Anakin tried to follow, which I am sure Obi Wan knew he would do. Anakin's own impatience was what got him done in at the end of the movie. Throughout the fight though he was never beating Anakin. There were actually a few moments where Anakin had him and should have won but didnt.
  10. He directed / co-directed Return of the Jedi. I think anyway. Not 100% sure on that. Much like Gary Kurtz directed Empire Strikes Back (or maybe that was Irvin Kirshner). Anyway the point that was trying to be made is that Lucas cant direct worth a damn and that he should have had another director there to help him out.
  11. Terrorists really are the scum of the earth. I am glad that the death toll wasnt as high as it could have been. Thank goodness they found a few of the bombs and deactivated them.
  12. That's the biggest failure of EIII, there's too much going on and too little time, so most of the scenes seem too hasty and compressed. Yes. Thats actually one of the best summations I have heard about why Ep3 wasnt as good as it could have been.
  13. Well it goes without saying that Dooku died way way too easily/badly in RoTS. Lucas had a perfect chance in my opinion to more or less re-create the final duel between Vader and Luke but this time with Anakin and Dooku. It would have been great to have Palpatine taunt Anakin and for Dooku to sort of have the edge. Finally, Palpatine cracks Anakin's armor and he gives himself to the darkside and destroys Dooku. For me if it had been implemented like that it would have been a great parallel. The father fails where his son eventually succeeds. The way it was done in the film...ugh. It was done too quickly and too fast. Also, Dooku like everyone said here, he defeats Obi at the beginning but then later on Anakin (who annihilated Dooku very easily) cant beat Obi? Just a little too weird for me.
  14. I hope our resident British members here werent hurt at all in the bombings that happened today in London.
  15. The problem with this of course is then who orders the Clone Army? While I think that Palpatine didnt plan on Maul dying at Naboo, even if Maul had survived Anakin was still found. This means that in the end Maul would only serve as a stop-gap measure till Palpatine could get rid of him. We have seen that Palpatine has been always on the look out for a stronger apprentice, which fits in with Sith ideology since there are supposed to only be two and lets face it. If you as a sith master want your legacy to continue you want a strong apprentice who can eventually take your place and continue the sith legacy. At any rate I think it worked out better with Maul dying. Tyranus was a far better Sith Lord who can control the Separatists due to his more independent nature. One thing I think your overall analysis is not taking into account is that Maul was used to only following orders from Palpatine. Maul would not have been suitable to be the leader of the Separatists in my opinion given how dependent he was on Palpatine for direction.
  16. I'm struggling to think when this last happened. Yep! More than fine! These are overpaid, over rated by and largely worthless pieces of addition to society whose 'cred' is created by crap hype and journalism the masses' absorb and give adulation to. Good acting and good bearing has eluded this idiot. I never said that acid had happened before, but yet again you didnt listen to what I said and PUT YOURSELF in Tom Cruise's place. It doesnt matter if he is overpaid, has a huge ego or whatever. What gives you the right or anyone else the right to go up to him and squirt him with water? Hmm? There are certain standards of decency and a certain societal decorum that is expected to be maintained. We are not barbarians after all. The point I am trying to make which seems lost on you is that it doesnt matter who Tom Cruise is, the point is why is it ok in your view for someone to run up to him and squirt him with water? Clearly you havent thought this one through and realized what I said before. You cant go around squirting people with water, I dare you to leave London and go to Southeast DC over here in the US and run around squirting people with water. If you dont get shot by a 'gangsta' I will be surprised. A lot of people dont have a lot of tolerance for such nonsense. I fail to see why people expect stars to have some kind of ethereal above-human powers and that we should pester them constantly. Am I a fan of Tom Cruise? No. But I dont think it was ok for him to get squirted with water. Again put yourself in his place, you are walking around cameras going off and the next thing you know some guy brings up a bottle or some other device and proceeds to spray you with a liquid. As I said before you have NO IDEA what it is that this random person is squirting you with. In my opinion Tom Cruise SHOULD HAVE pressed charges. I would have. We are supposed to be civilized humans, not little infantile brats who do what we please. Dont interpret my post as a flame, its not. I just find it odd that you seem to support this prankster more so than Tom Cruise.
  17. I think though you should put Batman 1 in there though. The Joker is supposed to be insane...and he did go around killing people. I can cite the Joker gassing the Gotham museum in order to talk to Vicki Vale. He also killed the one guy who opposed him at the conference table with some sort of super electric shocker thing on his hand. Not to mention he killed Bob in cold blood cuz Bob didnt warn the Joker about Batman having an airplane.
  18. Well despite his 'large and unwarranted ego' Tom Cruise is still a person and put yourself in his spot, do you want some random guy squirting you with something? What if it had been acid? As it is, those kinds of antics are just dumb and infantile really. We all learned (or hopefully learned) that doing that kind of dumb stuff back in school be it kindergarten or middle school or whatever, that the behavior of that prankster is a good way to get your ass kicked. But because its for tv its ok
  19. Andrew Lloyd Weber - Music of the Night
  20. I realize this is slightly off topic but lets face it, how would YOU feel if some random joe came up to you and squirted you with water. In Tom Cruise's position the guy could very well have sprayed him with say semen, or urine or acid. I think the way he handled that was good, had it been me I would have punched the guy in the face. At any rate, Tom Cruise is by no means the best actor ever but I think for most roles he tends to a good job.
  21. I hear that. They strongly hinted at a possible sequel at the end of this movie and well, its going to be tough to find a guy who can play The Joker the same way Nicholson did. Jack Nicholson is a great actor, and anyone who says otherwise needs their head examined. He has been great in everything from The Shining to A Few Good Men. His performance as Joker in Batman which came out in the late 80s was just perfect. It was really spot on. Anyway, if they do make a sequel I pray that they hopefully get an actor who can at least TRY to match the same sort of caliber performance that Nicholson gave us.
  22. The Order 66 part is something I wish Lucas had made more clear because its so ambiguous. I hear ya though, well hopefully either an EU story will come out which fleshes out the whole Sifo Dyas character and we find out what is what. Or, hopefully Lucas makes something more clear on the official databank at SW.com.
  23. I am sorry but I find that highly unlikely. I am not calling you a liar or anything dont take what I say in that way. I am just saying I think your mistaken. For instance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darth_Plagueis There is no mention of Plagueis being Sifo Dyas. Also http://www.answers.com/topic/darth-plagueis which also mentions that Plagueis was Palpatine's master. The official Star Wars databank hasnt been updated yet to reflect some of the new info we learned in Ep3, but I have a feeling it will be reflected from what was written on these sites. The problem with your assertion that Plagueis = Sifo Dyas and ordered the clone army, is that this must have happened shortly after or before Palpatine ordered the Trade Federation to occupy Naboo. The problem is continuity, how then was Darth Maul a Sith Lord? I find it highly unlikely Plagueis would have allowed Palpatine to take on apprentice since this violates the rule of two that the Sith had been following. For your version to work, the rule of two has to be violated as well as now we are forced to somehow think up a way that Palpatine trained Maul. Its been officially listed that Maul had been trained from a very young age by Palpatine to become a Sith Lord. To me that indicates that Palpatine had done away with Plagueis long long long before the events of The Phantom Menace.
  24. Um..what is the name of the book? Also, I have never ever heard of this before. I dont recall Lucas even saying this in an interview so I am highly skeptical. As it stands to me, Plagueis is/was Palpatine's master who had mastered the midichlorians and then Palpatine killed him in his sleep. Palpatine later found out that his master had achieved this power and from then on kept trying to find it out for himself. Thats what I am thinking anyway.
