Sorry to hear that Tofu. Though, from experience it's better to drift away then a messy breakup - those can be painful. Besides, with most drifts you can at least remain friends ... assuming you want to. Well you should have quite a few. I'll bet you've got even more that aren't Star Wars related.

My brother sent me the link, so I've got no back story on it what so ever. @E99: You said something about scanning them? I was under the impression that it was digital image from a satellite was a simple digital transfer. @D16: Never heard of Tank Police @Mitth: That is a deadly Teady Bear I want two EDIT: http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/09/28/1517229&from=rss

I do a mixture depending on what I'm modelling Mad. Spline is best for cured surfaces. But poly's are quicker and easier - and some times better at getting details. In the case of that head model, it was poly with a NURMs subdivisional polysmooth to give the end result after building up the model. I'm finiky over what I model with, if I start with spline I'll end with spline. Some things work better with spline, basically anything that's a curved edge - simply because to make a curved edge work with poly it involves a bit of work to set it up and then a meshsmooth, and there's only so much control. A lot of my rescent game models were made with spline - my Ranger gunship for example was 100% spline . . or close to that. I've also got a Strident Star Defender model on hold, that was made primarily with spline, converted to mesh and optimised in mesh.

Congrats SOCL! ! Glad to hear it's all over, and with exception of paying the court costs, everything seems to have come out fantastically! Welcome Home friend

Wow, a thread of mine that's actually lasted more than one page Umm, yes - nice respoces as well It's nice to see that there's still a very strong force in building your own computers as well. @JH: Out of curiosity - do you have a job that needs that sort of computer, or is it just because you can have it? Oh, and it looks bloody awesome
-
Wrong! That's just bloody wrong! You staple your nuts to your leg, you don't deserve nuts. Oh, and I'm not seeing it
-
Glad everyone liked it. It's my very first attempt of modelling a face . . non-human of course Ok, my VERY first lasted 10 minutes, an involved extruding a sphere ... not cool ... not cool at all. Still, this turned out great by my books - could use a lot more work, but for a first it's fantastic. The material uses mental ray/Max's Sub Surface Scattering Skin material - very cool. Here's an earlier version of the material as I worked on it: http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/9013/thefreakrubber01tq0.th.jpg Rubber man! Ah, rubber thing? Rubber freak *mumble mumble*

Good luck Tofu !!! Wow, that was spammy

OH .... MY ... GOD!! We're under attack by aliens! http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&t=k&q=Germany&ie=UTF8&z=18&ll=48.857699,10.205451&spn=0.002404,0.006738&om=1 *I hope this link works - if it doesn't I'll post a screeny* Now, besides the obvious that it's an optical illusion (not a photoshop), and isn't actually an Alien - the questions remains: Why is it in focus, and why is it so large in that photo considering that the photo was taken by a satellite One answer is that it died in the satellite (hence its size, placement and lack of shadow) and was just in front of the lens - but why is it in focus then? Do you have an answer?

A test I did for class - a mixture of advanced texturing materials and new modelling techniques (Well for me). Works for both Maya and Max, the final output was done in MAX. Work in Progress. http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/5134/thefreak01bt1.th.jpg

I'm on J's side or the argument here. Sure, there are the times that I loath some murderer so much I want them dead - but that doesn't make it the right thing to do. You're lowering yourself to their level, at the very least, wishing someone be put to death - even if it's for a "legitament" reason. What's the point in wasting another life? Especially, in J's point, if they find out they're innocent later down the track. Let them rot in jail, and suffer with their own kind. I can't say I have remorse for murderers, rapists etc. But at the same time, I'd like to see myself as a more civilised person, beyond the need of killing someone for their crimes, beyond the need for killing someone for any reason. But that's just me. Oh, and here's a quote that kind of suits this thread

Nice D16 - I loved the Scrubs one (great show btw)

Good luck, SOCL mate. Hopefully you wont need it. Remember, the SWR community is here for you - through thick and thin. And don't worry about not showing up for a while, it's more than understandable. Again, good luck mate

/Off-topic: Australia still has some Leapord I's. But rescently, there was a large ster up about Australia buying some new tanks - M1 Abrams. Apart from us not really needing them, the smart buy would have been some Leopard II A5's. There's nothing wrong with the Abrams - but, most military experts will agree that the L II is one of, if not the, best MBT to date. And for Australia it's especially good. Lighter than most other MBT's, yet with better performance, a good engine that is "fuel efficient" in tank terms . . yeah that exists . . and most importantly the high degree and simplisity of the modular design incorporated within the A5 and on wards (A6 and A6 S). There were no downsides to the LII, and I still can't see why Australia bought them. Oh well, that's politics. /off-topic

I was feeling the same way

Like I said not for all The cars sound like that for a host of reasons - the main being that they produce 400+ HP, some a lot more. A lot of it comes from over fueling the engine to keep it reving higher and allowing you to get optimum power without having to go through your rev range. It works a treat for turbocharged cars, you bypass a lot of the turbo lag you get from the larger turbos by keeping the car running lean, and with an idle so high that the turbo is constantly spooling. Also, a side note on Group B rallying. It's banned now, mainly because of too many deaths - drivers and most of all those annoying people standing at the side of the track, and especially those who ran onto the track. Happened a lot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_B One stupid salesman
-
Well, seeing as we've dropped to a new low - here's some real smutt! Unadulterated, Thrilling, mind blowing, gut wrenching, painful, blistering Group B Rallying - One and a half hours of sinful bliss Not for all people But car lovers, car enthusiasts . . hell, most people are mesmerised by it

What makes your PC personal to you? 9 out of 10 people modify their computer in various ways (and make up statistics) - the most notable and abundant being some peice of software to augment your computing experience, from a new and cool looking theme for Windows, new cursors, new sounds to small little add-ons to your browser. Here you can share your experience. What do you suggest people use, what shouldn't they use - what would you like to see? What makes your computer personal to you? Go wild, but on topic I'll start - The idea of this thread came to me a day ago when I was screwing around with Windows, after getting a little tired of the same old desktop staring back at me. So I went in search for something that would automatically change the backdrop image of my computer. I know Macs have this ability, and rather like it, especially if you're desktop oriented. A 5 minute search resulted in this Power Toy: http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/312 <- Contains a review of the powertool, the download link is towards the bottom before the comments section. It's not exceptionally good, actually apart from doing what I asked for (changing the backdrop) it's rather plane - with limited control. But, it'll do until I find a replacement. It's an official Power Toy as well - so stable, and no side effects like spyware. My brother sent me this one, basically a spiffy and very attractive graphics update for XP: http://xpero.msfn.org/ <- There's a link with screenshots on the site to see what it looks like. You don't loose or alter XP basic look, a lot of graphics are replaced and makes XP feel nicer and upto date. Being a partial graphics designer, 3d modeller and even tangling with coding here and there I still feel having an attractive OS interface is vital to keeping a good work place. A bland and boring looking computer just doesn't inspire you to work as much as in a flashy looking environment - this one I strongly back, and suggest downloading. It also comes with a very nice task witching utility (ALT Tabing) that allows you to set up how the alt tabbing works. Very spiffy I suggest you download the Guide first before installing

Very nice Mad, just one question: Does the dog head fetch? Ahhhh . . . yeah, I'm tired and it shows
-
Nice Tofu! That last strip was really good - I like how you're adding some minor . . ok, minor for paint, subtleties for added humour with the T-Shirts. Keep up the good work - now all you need is Photoshop, a Tablet and the ability to draw and you can rival CAD!

I like pretty much anything with the work metal in it But, I'm also partial to some classical, and a variety of techno/electronica (or whatever the hell it's called these days ) music - to a very limited extent. And, I'll second what BS said - but add R 'n B to it

With a violent thud, the escape pod leapt free of the shuttle. “Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!â€

Ok, I'm going to have to debate that I found Silent Hill really boring, and poorly thought out - maybe I needed to play the game first, but it was pretty bland and almost boring in my opinion. I liked where it was headed - and had hoped that the movie Doom was more like that (instead of the crap heap it became - why couldn't it have been based on Doom 3? That was a fantastic, scary as Hell game!), with the dark hellish themes and pretty good direction. But, other than that I felt the story lacked ... well, I'm yet to put my finger on it. Story? Consistency? Bah, maybe it's just me

Spoken like a true australian. Spoken like a true australian. hahaha.. thats exactly what i thought when i read it... just didnt want to be the one to say it.. lol It was? .... righto then . . ah . . How? I'm just a little perplexed at what sounds Australian in that
