  1. Not too bad, almost had a 3d modelling job. But that didn't work out (they just wanted too much in a very short time frame). Apart from that, I'm just playing around with IE7 beta 2 and doing uni work mainly . . . and still hunting down my illusive next car Oh, also I'm still waiting for this laptop I'm using to get swapped for a better one (it's leased) so I can start doing some of my own 3d stuff and get back into Rebellion Yup, I've become a bit of a lurker lately too, with only a post here and there It's kind of fun - like being a stealthy Ninja! . . . or not I've only had time to look at the site once, and for a short peroid of time. But . . . Wow, they're good . . . reallllllllllly good. And apparently the members look good too
  2. That's so bad it's funny!! Nice find J-Man
  3. Krytos

    Maul

Nice find Scath. The blue screen will help with cutting it out, it's a shame that there's a lot of artifacts from the compression though. Have fun with it Tex
  4. Well I played Morrow Wind on the Xbox (Gah! What a fool I was!). It wasn't bad, though I never really got into it. But I've heard a lot of good things about Morrow Wind, and a lot of hype towards Oblivion. So I'm going to wait and see what Oblvion is like before I buy the game. So when you get it GAT, be sure to tell us the details
  5. Long time no see Fishy! Hope to see you around here more often, oh I also sumbled upon your Deviant Art page - very, very nice work there (also followed through some of the links to that concept art website you mentioned in some of your art posts)
  6. Enjoy your freedom Tofu And I'll enjoy my new holiday
  7. In addition: 1. If you have a character (or group of characters) that is constantly failing - you may have a traitor. Send them on a mission with a Jedi to find out for sure. 2. and 3. Game wise, they also turn traitor if they're left just sitting around doing nothing for along time - however, giving the character a rank apparently stops this. If you have a traitor, I don't think there is a way to convert them back - so the best bet is to retire them to make sure they don't cause problems anymore. If traitors are to much of a nother for you, and you want to remove them from the game (which I don't suggest, it's a nice dynamic element to the game) use RebEd. Every minor character has a "cannot betray team" check box, you can guess what to do there
  8. Ok, before this gets out of hand I'll step in and give a whirl at expanding your view. Ok, so these scientist guys are using new technology - so new, they're the one's developing it. So, as a developer you'll get to stages where you need to test the product - in this case test your theories and work on a creating something in nano. Now, I think it's safe to assume that this technology is very experimental, so we're not about to see them building a small robot or something that would impact on society (you'd hate to have some experimental nanotech blocking a cracked artery for it to fail because there hadn't been enough research into it). Instead they will use the technology to develop something feasible, and as a test. Now, they could create a host of static objects. A perfect cube for instance. However, by creating something more challenging in shape (that being said I'm not sure how easy a "perfect" cube would be to make in nano) to test the full extents of the technologies you're working on. Then there's a second thing to keep in mind, how often do we hear about this type of research? How do these researchers get interest to the public and other communities? Well, the answer is what they did. By using the technology to create something the every day Joe will find amusing, thus increasing interest in the project (very important for any type of product), while at the same time testing the technology. Granted a nano-guitar and glasses for a fly are useless (at the moment ) for anything. But creating those item did at least two things. Helped prove an experimental technology by creating difficult objects, and increase interest in the area - which could mean more research grants, more University students wanting to get into the field etc. So, it wasn't a waste of money - it was a "showcase", a bit like a game engine in early development (if you've seen anything on the new Unreal Engine, you can put it into context with that. They're developing this engine - but why release a demo so early on? Why put hours into creating maps, model, textures and shaders when they're going to waste? Better yet, why are you watching it, drooling and waiting for the game to come out?). Of course, I can see your point of view as well - that money could have been spent on something better and more useful for the present.
  9. Perhaps you meant 'fault' Krytos? Correct. If you look at your keyboard you will notice that the 't' key and the 'y' key are right next to each other, and the wrong key is prone to being pressed by accident when typing fast. Also, I think the excessive BEAKing has gone on a little too long now - there's nothing wrong with correcting grammar and spelling when it occurs (or better yet, when it's needed), but now that it's beginning to occurs in every thread it's beginning to get annoying. Especially when it's for mistakes that don't warrent a BEAK - such as a quick typo versus an obvious mistake. Don't stop the BEAK, just try to limit it to when it's more critical.
  10. I got a 34 after doing it a second time and noticing two names (Wicket and Calista) that I just skimmed over.
  11. Krytos

    Emm...

Well, it's been a while since I've had to define them, high school I think - so here's what I remember (feel free to BEAK away). The Interenet vs. Web: The Internet is the medium, a world wide network, containing varying protocols on transferring data across the world from system to system. The Web is just one thing we use the internet for. It's what we the use the most, or at least recognise on the internet (webpages and that lot) However, the web isn't the only thing that the Internet can be used for - after all, it is in effect a WAN - think email, and chatting programs. An Intranet is a large, internal network used within large office buldings and other work places that is simular to the internet in use, and in protocols. But, as stated, it's internal and can't be accessed outside of the business (well, that would have changed now with the availability of wireless connections ) You know, it would be easier just to google or wiki this So: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intranet I'll read these later
  12. Wow, that is impressive! ! Shame they don't say anymore in regaurds to how this "special laser technology" allowed them to put on the glasses or how they created the glasses that small (I assume including lenses).
  13. Her acting in Episode I through III were rather lack luster, but I think that was mainly a fauly of directing. I think her other movies shows she can act quiet well when needed. . . . And yes, she's hot But that's only a bonus Oh, and Jahled! Keep your drunk teddy bears away from guns! I've never felt so unsafe before! Now, let me go outside and give a random koala an Assault Rifle
  14. Not a gif . . . but just as fun How Episode IV should have ended - Imperial style: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1339845368759861864&q=star+wars+iv (Google video) Find more here http://howitshouldhaveended.com/movie%20list.html
  15. Good luck with that Mad. I'm seriously thinking of not taking the job anymore after having the interview and finding out what they really wanted. Basically, they'd give me a number of hours, say four hours to make a chair, to make a high detailed, "photo-realistic" model - which was fine, simple and plauseable. Until they told me they wanted 100 models made and textured in 5 weeks I don't have that kind of time free, so it looks like I'll be giving it a miss.
  16. Finally saw it all! Very nive work Mad The only thing that I could think of changing is some of the timing I've got to ask how you did the planet collision effect/explosion, and the water at the end (that water was awesome!)
  17. You too!!! What a coincidence Really?!? Awesome! What's your 3D job about? Mine's pretty basic, I'm modelling products (primarily office furniture I think, wont be hard at all) for a cataloge . . . if I get the job that is Apparently it's a minimum comittment of 3 months as well, so that'll be good.
  18. Still waiting for it to finish downloading, I had a bit downloaded last night. Though hadn't realised that it was with Window's default downloader so it didn't pause it when I shut down the computer Back to the drawing board . . . ah, downloading board I had a look at some. Doesn't seem like an easy thing to make but i always have a belief in the miracles of particles. I thought of something that might work for this. You could try having the two partilce systems moving towards each other. In between the two, put a gravity space warp with a negative strength, some decay and make it spherical instead of planar as well as linked to both particle systems - that'll pull the particles together. Then, in each particle activate interparticle collisions and you'd also probably have to have a Deflector of some sort for both particle systems (probably a UDynaFlect). That should have the effect of drawing them into a sort of gravitational overlap, as well as allow the particles to bounce off one another (with some tinkering)- it will probably be processor intensive, so try it with a handful of particle first And if the single gravity spacewarp doesn't give a good effect, you could create two spherical gravity spacewarps and place them inside each particle system, though have them only effecting the other particle system to drag them together. . . I might have to try this myself in my spare time EDIT: Ok, make that a positive gravity And a lot of tinkering (a 10 minute trial didn't go so well . . . maybe if the particle emitters were also linked to a solid object for the gravity spacewarp to pull on, otherwise only the particles get pulled towards it and are limited by both their life and the emitter's position)
  19. No, it was a suggestion as motorbikes (or at least most) use less fuel than a low fuel consumption car. I'm not much of a motorbike person though, so I'm sticking to my fast cars Hold on, gaming as in video games, or gaming as in AD&D, V:tM, Rifts, and all the classic PnD games? You have to be carefull, as when I see the word 'gaming', I think PnD, not computer and console games. . . . computer/video gaming (Some Need for Speed Porsche, and some CSS fixed me today. I'll probably play some Tiberium Sun tonight as well). Though I have had a few games of Battletech, once again not for a long time though, and the computer version of Vampire: The Masquerade years ago. Not sure what the others are though Actually, the opposite - they never come back
  20. Also, the hot key for this is holding down alt and pressing either the '+' or '-' key, which speeds up and slows down the game respectively.
  21. Well . . . it was funny, I'll give it that much
  22. Oooooh, you finished the movie Mad! ! I'll have to download it when I get back from uni today
  23. I live in Australia (G'day mate, crickey and all that ), and I'm 20 turning 21. Currently I study at university and have a REALLY crap job at a fish n' chips joint. However, that might be changing very soon - just have to see how my interview goes, and I may be doing 3d models for a living My hobbies involve 3d Modelling, designing, anything car related, practically any metal music or industrial, gaming (elbeit, I havn't played a game in well over a month - I'll change that today!) and that's all I can think of at the moment Oh, and I'm looking for a new car to replace my old series 2 RX-7 . . . just need to find an Audi 90 with descent kms
  24. Awesome work J That looks awesome, the holographic text came out terrific!
  25. Welcome Ciccembai This area, however, is meant for general Star Wars stuff. You'd get more help posting in the Warlord's area, in particular this thread setup for people who can't get the mod running. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy EvilleJedi's excellent mod
