Wow, that is a low combat rating against palpy. I have trouble taking palpy on with characters with over a 200 combat rating Was her leadership high? That might explain things

KOTOR-La forge's Plastic Surgery: Bastila
Krytos replied to Lord_La_forge's topic in General Discussion
Nice LLF, very suttle. The skin is less pale, the eye's a different colour and different shape. Different shape eyebrows as well. Mouth colour looks simular, though shape is very different (though I'm not sure how much of that is in the model (did the characters speak in KOTOR?)). All in all, it makes her look a lot friendlier. . . I might have to ask you to do some of my terxtures for me -
I doubt I can answer - though just for some clarity for those who might be able to help, what country do you live in and what kind of things did you do (maybe just the nature: bad, not too bad, nothing special, drunk etc.)?

Well, I might as well throw in my 2 cents into this conversation. First off - to the original topic: I've never really had Leia that powerful in any of my games, with the exception of her diplomacy reaching several hundred. So, I can't really say she's that powerful. But, considering the game and the way it’s made (ie. there's a lot of chance with characters) anything's possible. I'd be more worried if one of the really minor characters became that powerful - say one of those little Sullust guys Also, I have to agree with what ATA (AdmiralToguroAni) said. We have no idea at all how the mission was done; maybe she uses her diplomatic skills to convince half the planet to attack Palpy? Second - the off topic . . . topic: Well, there's no doubt that SW is a good guys must win sort of story (even with the newer series, such as the NJO). Though, it's never without their losses - such as in Empire Strikes Back, where they suffered a massive defeat. Something I've hated with the EU is the way they treat this. In effect, the Rebels are all powerful against the Empire, who appears to be absolutely useless in every way. Storm Troopers have been given this false identity that they're practically walking targets that can't hit the side of a Sand Crawler (get the pun - if not, watch Episode IV). This isn't really shown in the movies, with exception of Episode VI, though that's also a bit debatable due to being outnumbered by a guerrilla style enemy. As for the attack on the Death Star's shield gen, I also buy it. Let's not forget that most of the Rebel's Elite troops (like Crix Madine) were formally Elite Imperials, who would have a lot of training and know how the enemy worked (because they use to be the enemy). And whilst the Rebellion was "rag tag" compared to the Empire, they were able to muster large fleets as well as learn to survive against the Empire. Back to Endor - I think Palpy was just boasting about the troops that were stationed there being Elite, in an attempt to make Luke turn faster. That being said, they were able to ambush and capture these elite Rebel troops (who could be considered in par with the real world SAS, KSK and Navy SEALs etc) - so they weren't dunces. They only lost because of those pesky little Ewoks - who outnumbered the Imperials significantly, maybe even 10 - 1, though who can say the exact numbers. And, as history shows (such as America's history), "inferior" natives can be very deadly to an unsuspecting and over confident enemy. Though again, even with the help of the annoying Ewoks, the Rebels started loosing until Chewie captured an AT-ST and was able to turn the tide (as shown in the movie, the Imperials didn't know that that AT-ST had been taken over as it flanked another ST and was used to break into the bunker). So, I do think it was possible - though mainly due to a lot of luck, and coincidences. Well, that's my contention anyway.

Just a bit of a bump for this thread Here's that Christmas pic I did - plus a few modifications: with a new stocking and some wood lining around the fireplace. http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/5043/christmas28pc.th.jpg Yay! Hmm, well I've been working on it a little bit, though after getting started on some of the Rebellion models I kind of forgot So, I'll try to work on it again . . . I think last time I got stumped on the ship's aft and just how exactly it went together. Still, I'll give it a whirl Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm not the best (ok, I lied - I'm pretty dismal, and Scath can correct my spelling here) at materials. I could have done it extremely reflective and chrome like, though I thought that looked pretty bad and was going for a dull metal look (which didn't really work either). ***** EDIT: I dug up what I've done on your ship Fishy, the body is getting there - though it lacks detail at the moment, and is far from finished. I think I might need some schematical drawings to finish it off - mainly for the aft and underbelly of the ship. http://img473.imageshack.us/img473/8017/afc023xa.th.jpg You can see that a lot of the basic elements of the ship is missing still

Ship Request: Yuuzhan Vong Cruisers
Krytos replied to Defender_16's topic in Rebellion Model Editing
Did the exact same thing when I was looking for the program For some reason, I just couldn't find the bmp converter. That's one reason why I only do my rebediting on one computer now - because I know I'll be having problems trying to get it all going on another computer Oh, I might also try my hand at modifying my Matalok to make it look like that drawing of yours D16. The models kind of highly optimised, so I'm not sure how easy that will be -
All aboard, Ranger gunship leaving the station! Buy your tickets at the booth for $8.45. One way ticket, buy them here. Get 'em while they last

Here, here! Great post Cain - I'll be trying this out very soon! !

Ta Mad, but I think (fingers crossed) all is good. I tried it in game, and apart from the textures being a lot greyer than I wanted (and they are in the correct pallete), everything seems fine! Size wise, I've decided to officially abonden my true scale policy - because ships of this size are simply to small So, this is around 40% of the length of my majestic model. Size Comparison - Zoomed in - medium range http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/7291/ranger021zn.jpghttp://img268.imageshack.us/img268/8680/ranger011ti.jpghttp://img268.imageshack.us/img268/7897/ranger036un.jpg

Wow, that's a lot of positive feedback Glad to see everyone is liknig it. Lets just hope the model looks good ingame Lust update to it, the little radar dish. Tomorrow I'll throw it in game and cross my fingers http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/4551/ranger02a21la.th.jpg And an actual Cell Shaded version http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/8278/ranger02a33up.th.jpg

Welcome aboard Sure, if you have any questions - about practically anything - just ask away

Yes, definetely! ! I'm far from a good texturer, though I've got a lot of the basics down so should be able to start doing that soonish. I "might" be able to make textures for the Eclipse, though it really depends on the author and asking their permission Well, here some more updates - this time with textures done. I think they came out well and suited the original art. That being said, once the model is released I'll work on some other textures with the classic whitey/grey and red. http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/7784/ranger01a2eo.th.jpghttp://img530.imageshack.us/img530/2037/ranger02a0vm.th.jpg http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/4826/ranger03a7qz.th.jpghttp://img530.imageshack.us/img530/7550/ranger04a2wv.th.jpg http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/4397/ranger05a8ua.th.jpg Now there's the radar dish to do and putting in the game and that;s hopefully it. . . ok, there's proof testing as well - but I'm obviously not the best at that.

Oh, I just remembered someone that went by the name of Lila (I think, though she was a she) who use to post in the Warlords area during the time of version 0.35. There's another notch to the wall Trej

Happy New Year everyone I'll say it now, because tomorrow I'll be trying to remember tonight

Welcome to the forum Carrie. I hope you enjoy the forums. Take your time to look around.

Afraid not. Whilst we know of it, and use it as an excuse to have another day off - the true reasons behind boxing day eludes me, and all those I've ever asked. Granted, I've only asked a few people over the years - as over the years it merely seemed as another day that I figured everyone knew of. Anyway, after some delving into the topic - it appears that there are many "reasons" for boxing day. However, this seems to be the most appropriate: Apart from that, there's the boxing day Cricket match

Welcome to the forums tg92 Have a look around, see what areas you like. Apart from Rebellion, and other Star Wars stuff, the forum has an Outside Interest area, mod areas as well as modelling areas. Have fun
-
Sure . . . .That'll work I've been thinking about releasing a few texture packs for some of the models I've done/doing. Like a striped Ranger (Not exactly the same as this, but kind of simular) a red Battle Dragon (apparently they're red ) And for others I've done with coloured striping, different strip patterns and different colours.

Thanks all, I'm glad that my first model is still liked Though, I have to agree with D16. I never found the Majestic to be that attractive let alone Majestic. So, I was hoping my new version made it look better. Though only thing that doesn't seem to flow as well anymore is the nose. That being said, the old version has grown on me and I'm tempted to use it as something else . . . not sure what though For now I'll just leave it alone and work on the newer version. Weird Good to hear that it works now. I have a bad feeling that where I've been uploading my models isn't working anymore Two days in a row with no responce

Hmm, that is a strange error. I've just tried downloading it with IE6 without fault. Perhaps you have a firewall causing the problem You'll problaby need to PM Evaders99 in order to figure out the problem. Though, if you have a software firewall, try turning it off for the download. Also, here's the link to RebEd download: http://www.swrebellion.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=1

I know that ImageReady can be used for the task, it's just the Director is far better for the job. Though, in the end all of this talk depends on one thing: What Toguro can get his hands on

Unfortunately, the DAC is basically a stripped out version of a Majestic with an additional fighter squadron and basically little to no offensive weapons. It was meant to be one of the main fighter carrier for the Republic, so it's got better shielding than the Majestic, though only a handful of defensive lasers. That being said, it would be very cheap, and a replacement for the Escort Carrier in Rebellion. A little history The New Republic's navy was based around fighter's and their carriers. The carriers would stay away from the battle, while being escorted by small suport vessels as well as the occational larger warships, and allow the NR's superior fighters and bombers to attack the enemy. This strategy seemed to change after the Black Fleet incedent, where they decided it was best to merge that stategy with utilising larger warships to take the fight to the enemy at the same time (Such as the current Majestic, RSD, MC90 and fututre DSD). A carrier group would probably consist of a variety of carriers, with something like the Defender taking point due to it's powerful shields, manouvrebility and speed (which appears to be why it's called an Assault Carrier as opposed to a normal carrier. Because, it definetely has nothing to do with it's weapons ). It's name also implies, that it can be or was intended for assaulting planets, enemy formations etc., allowing it's increased shielding to take full effect. I could picture a few dropping out of hyperspace under a barrage of fire while deploying fighter squadrons to rip appart some Imperials. And as the Republic would generally take the defensive stance in a conflict, this gave them a carrier that had a mission role intended for counter-attacks or pre-emptive strikes. But, in the end - it's still a carrier and has little need for offensive firepower when it's primary role is to house fighters. That's why it's armed with only 20 Laser Cannons (I personally also keep the 8 Assault Concussion missiles from the Majestic). The Majestic on the other hand was meant to be the gaurdian of these carrier groups, or take the fight to the enemy. 20 ion cannons, 20 laser cannons, 30 heavy turbolasers (that apparently significantly outrange an ISDs guns) and 8 Assault Concussion Missiles make up it's impressive weaponary - and as mentioned before it's armour and shielding matches that of an ISDs. Confusingly, the Majestic carries 5 fighters squadrons, making it far better than a DAC - though more expensive to build and maintain. Not to mention that both warships take completely different roles. Also something of note, though not of much point in Rebellion, is that the NR would load the carriers and larger warships with better fighters like E-Wings, A-Wing, X-Wings, B-Wings and K-Wings for attacking. The smaller escorting vessels, such as a Sacheen light cruiser, would carry highly manouvrable, close range Defender starfighters (What? A 3rd New Republic unit with the name defender! And all from the Cracken Threat Dossier, what great thinking ) and X-Wings that would stay with the fleet to help gaurd it.

Hmm, ImageReady isn't really suited for to creating movies - it's meant for doing web graphics and small gif style animations. It would be pain-stacking to have to animate that kind of thing through ImageReady Director is meant for this exact style of animation - using bitmap style graphics in animations by moving them, scaling them and more. You can add an image to keyframe 1 move it to the next position on the timeline, keyframe it and then add a tween that will fill in the movement for you. The timeline is divided into layers, so adding effects over or under images is easy. You can add sound to the animation etc. There are plenty of tutorials on the web for it as well, and it's a pretty simple program to get use to (probably not as easy as Image Ready). It is better suited to the task. Given that you have the images ready, with masks, the animation should take around an hour roughly if you havn't much experience or you're finiky. I could "probably" do it in half in hour - though I dont remember that much of Director after using Flash.
