  1. I don't think skirmish will happen at the galactic map. You will be playing on a ground map or a space battle with pre-set forces or a base to build things like a conventional RTS.
  2. There will be something of a mission choice during the single player. I think it is more linear for some of those as well.
  3. I am not a moderator so I have no ability to remove posts that are not contributing to the thread so if a moderator is ok with this idea, I entreat your help. We need to list the things that we know for a fact and in the case of some abiguity, please provide an explanation or supporting quote. I would imagine the most relevant things to be based off of the posts from Delphi-PG so far in these boards. Please follow the numbering scheme I am starting with, and reserve discussion for a different thread. 1. The timeline for EAW is post Episode III to the end of Episode IV. (This refers mainly to the single player campaign and the technology in the game.) 2. In tactical mode the game will pause, but during Galactic, everything is in motion. 3. Players will have the option to fight out the tactical battle or have it Auto-Resolved. (this refers to single player at this point, no word has been given as to whether there is a way to do this in multiplayer) 4. Hero death is not permanent, you will be able to regain your heros for a price (credits or time or both). 5. Currently fighters are assigned to squads in groups of 5. (can change due to balance) The next poster should start at number 6 and so on. Lets make this a strong collection of information that may be able to be confirmed for an updated FAQ or something.
  4. Meh, I am calm. It is just that some of our newer posters give me the feeling that I am reading the LEC forums sometimes. No real offense intended, but I do enjoy thoughtful, intelligent posts as the majority, rather than the minority of posts that I read.
  5. That is correct from what I can tell, but in the game I bet you the Home One will be able to take out an ISD head to head. Fix it in XML I will.
  6. I must say, Dorkthehunter, you appear to be striving to be true to your signature quite energetically.
  7. Their respawning.
  8. erm, I bet he has work with him at home.
  9. Did you mean to say: "mod in as many planets as you want." ? If not, that doesn't answer my question. I am talking about adding additional planets to the galactic map.
  10. Well, the real question I want to know is if it is possible for us to add planets in. This may be a bit more complicated than adding in new units and the like, but I am wondering if the moddability of this game includes the planets too.
  11. Delphi, where are the answers to our interview questions? Can you try to see if they can be done by thursday? We would really like to make the chat on friday as productive as possible. Pretty please with yoda on top?
  12. They have said that they are making the game very moddable, and they haven't gone and changed their tune on that one point, YET. So I think that until that happens, we can be relatively secure in knowing that this game can be modded to the point that it resembles the game that most of us expected.
  13. Page, if its the same page as in the books, is the leader of a rebel commando squad Which page are you refering to? Dang it, I couldn't stop myself.
  14. I find that a horrid thought to be honest. You don't just change a thing just to fit the part. You either create a new thing, or you use an existing design as it is that would fit the part. Not take something that doesn't fit and change it into something it isn't. At least you hope that you don't. We don't really know just yet. I want to keep my faith in the Petro guys, but I still feel that the game most of us want to play is a mod or two away from what Petroglyph will release.
  15. Doesn't this undermine the persistency feel they were going for? I think that they should die permanently, but difficultly. Your heroes are someone you should protect fiercly but be able to use them to good potential. Loosing Luke or Wedge to a run on the Death Star would be a worth-while gamble if they could die, but now it is a sure fire thing that if you have a Death Star, then you will have every hero ship that exists hunting it down, because they can always come back and at a much cheaper cost comparitively I would wager.
  16. Hmmm, this sounds like it will work alot like the way that Rebellion did, the only difference being that the time flows more smoothly, rather than in day clicks. So if you had 5 fleets converging on a particular planet, each fleet would have its own battle until the enemy was beaten and then from that point on, they just all arrive to reinforce. Since the galactic map is real-time, the ability to time your fleets' arrival in a system to coincide on the same day will be lost. It will become more important to assemble your fleets in a system near your target before launching your attack. I also take from this similarity the probability that reinforcements will not be arriving while the battle is ongoing. This doesn't suprise me, but I am slightly dissapointed too. I was hoping there was a way that Petroglyph could have worked it out, but the statement that Delphi had made earlier where he said something like if you think the galactic map is going to be like a map of command and conquer, you are wrong, supports this news.
  17. Methinks this game will be a little more "gamey" than most of us want. We still have to have faith in the promise of an extremely moddable game though, so we can fix this kind of thing.
  18. Rebel special units could indicate sabotage units or indirect fire units. A function like fast calvary, to flank the enemy quickly and take out the more specialized troops in the back or some such.
  19. We don't even get Tie Interceptors and you are wanting Deathseeds?
  20. I think there will be a generic orbital base that you can customize by the addons you purchase and build for it. Like, do I add more turrets on this side, or do I put in a hanger bay for fighters, and that kind of thing.
  21. But will it in this game, I wonder. Methinks the modding community is going to need to put together a EAW "realism" patch.
  22. This sounds like something that could be modable like that. There will be costs and time limits on respawning them most likely, you just make it to where the cost and or time limit is unreachable. You know there will be a cheat or mod to make them instantly respawnable soon after release.
  23. Ah, I thought of another three: 28. If you attack a system and win the space battle, but do not proceed to attack the ground, just blockade, can the enemy continue to fire on your ships if they have planetary batteries operational? 29. Can you build multiple planetary ION or Turbolaser cannons, or are you restricted to a certain amount? 30. Do heros have their powers when you obtain them, or do they have to accumulate experience points (for lack of a better term) to upgrade like in Warcraft III? Please continue to add more thoughtful questions for the chat and for possibly a kind answer post by Delphi-PG.
  24. I am pretty sure they said that this is not possible.
  25. Very unlikely that that will happen as the position of power on the planet will be the base.
