  1. Actually, given the info that an official trailer is likely to give us, I would prefer a press release, batch of previews, etc over a trailer. I want more information, not hype. The hype value of this game is gone for me, they blew that up when they made it look like we were going to go through Ep VI with their videos and lines and it turned out that was false.
  2. The view and the fantastic city grahics(SP?) But it is sad to see those poor AT AT's like that.........Those rebel scum will pay dearly oh yes very dealy indeed. Don't worry. This is clearly a very poorly put together piece of Rebel propoganda holovid.
  3. Stick to the empire not the rebel scum. The benefits of having double agents implanted in the Rebel leadership will not be ignored by this Emperial commander.
  4. I wish they would stop saying this if it isn't true. And if it is true, how? The sequence of battle is one thing that still confuses me. If it is linear, how do reinforcements show up? If it is real time, could you drop troops on the ground before the enemy is taken out in space? And if that is possible, could you have orbital bombardments happening from both fleets on the ground? Too many issues with this part of the game. Delphi, could you shed some light on this question? I assume that the game is too far into developement for this to be changed from how it is currently implemented, so there should be some kind of answer available that is set in stone for release.
  5. I think one thing we are wondering about in relation to fighters and the capital ships is like tie fighters. Tie fighters did not have hyperdrives and neither did jedi starfighters, how will they travel with a fleet if they do not have a ship that they are being carried in?
  6. The little guys can have their pop cap limit, but that shouldn't hinder the higher end computers! And any multiplayer game would have to have a limit set to allow the lower-end computer involved to play. Single player should only matter on the computer it is being played on.
  7. I will primarily play as the Empire, but I will play through both sides of the single player campaign. I will play as rebels in multiplayer sometimes as well so as to know my enemy well.
  8. I do not want a pop cap that is like Battle for Middle Earth. Anyone ever remember the cut scenes when the game was in developement? Looked like you could have 1000+ units on your side at a time. Multiplayer it turned into more like 150 to 200 unit points. Very bad IMO, that is one area where everyone who has read the books or seen the movies would be expecting massive armies. I don't want to be limited to 5 cap ships and 3 fighter squadrons in a space battle or 3 AT-ATs and 5 troop formations on ground. This is my problem. If we have 20-30 planets on our side, how will we protect them if there is a pop cap that is small?
  9. 1. Does the Death Star have turbolaser/ion/engine/shield/etc hardpoints that can be targetted individually, and if so, can the Death Star fire conventionally (not Superlaser) at fighters and capital ships? 2. Can you describe how orbital bombardment will be handled? Do we direct fire down from capital ships based on their power, ISD massive (and/or frequent) with smaller ships providing weaker/less often barrages. What would prevent a sufficiently large orbiting fleet from being able to decimate the defending forces without the attacking ground forces having to be involved in the battle? 3. How is the transition of battle handled when multiple engagements occur in the galactic map at the same time? Example: the Rebels hold Tatooine and Kashyyk(sp?) and have a defending fleet as well as ground defense. If the Empire sends an attack force to each planet and they arrive simultaneously, how does the game handle the engagements? Do the space battles happen for one planet and then the other and then the Empire has to initiate the ground assault from the galactic map at will, or does the space battle happen for one planet and then immediately after, the ground battle happens and then the 2 battles for the other planet happen later? 4. How can the defending player utilize the planetary ion cannon during a space battle? Is it random, is it like a regular unit where you select the planet and you select the target for its attack like you would a ship, or is it like a special weapon you can use occationally like an ion cannon in Generals? 5. Do all of the fighters in a fleet have to have a coresponding carrier they are assigned to like in Rebellion, or can the fighters that have hyperdrives (i.e. x-wing) just be assigned to the fleet and be brought with the fleet (or sent somewhere by themselves for that matter) in a galactic map fleet move? 6. It was mentioned that the Death Star can be moved around the space map like a regular unit, although at a very slow speed. Is there a minimum distance that the Death Star can not move past in relation to a planet? Also, how do other obsticals come into play such as nebula, asteroids, capital ships, fighters, etc. with the Death Star? 7. Are collisions possible between the ships/fighters and the environment like with the planet, random asteroids (not referring to the damage inflicted when passing an asteroid field), each other, or the Death Star? 8. Do the ground units have special attacks, like the "maximum firepower" attack from the AT-AT? 9. During the galactic map mode in a 1 vs 1 campain game, can you choose a planet and go to the ground map level to build up the defenses, or do you select a planet and choose the defenses to build and they are placed automatically? 10. Is it possible for your transports to begin dropping troops on the planet before the space battle is over if you can keep them protected long enough for them to get within range to do so? And if this is possible, would the ground forces just be already dropped when you get to the ground battle, or can the space and the ground battle be happening at the same time with you switching back and forth between them to direct your troops? I figure 10 is a good stopping point for now, I will submit some more questions later if they are not already posted by someone else.
  10. Speaking of which, did Delphi post any on the LEC forums or did he just post here?
  11. No kidding. You would think with a feature as unique as a galactic multiplayer conflict, we would know more about how the transition from space battle to ground battle is handled as well as what happens if you have 2 fleets show up at two different enemy controlled planets at once. Things like this are such that it is too late in the game for them to not know the answer so why are these interviews still in the pre-alpha information phases?
  12. I think we did kind of get off track here. I don't think anyone has answered the main question. How will the rebellion be able to compete against the empire if the empire takes the resources that it should have been able to build a Death Star with and adds to its fleets instead? Either the Empire will not have enough resources to afford building the Death Star in the first place without sacrificing any fleet it would have built, or it will have extra resources built in so it can afford it. If the latter is the case, the Empire should be able to use those resources to beat the Rebellion every single time with extra fleets, troops, defenses, etc. What do you think?
  13. I certainly hope Petroglyph doesn't take it as such. I am wondering why they dont have mIRC though.
  14. Ooh, I usually see them from the top.
  15. A whate-whoey? Looked like the Interdictor to me.
  16. Having that option would be counterproductive in a game of this magnitude. Now if you could design custom ship configurations and reuse them, it might be a bit more useful, but this is not a ship design game. You should be using that time better to build even more ships, attack multiple planets, or simply build up the 15-30 planets under your control to impregnable fortresses.
  17. The only problem with that is that keeping Coruscant safe is probably an Empire win/lose condition. The Empire lost Corusant in EU and the rebels fled from Yavin 4 and Hoth so i think you can get a chance to retake them. Can't exactly retake Coruscant if it is blown up. The asteroids will be there, but it will be a resources only point, no population.
  18. The only problem with that is that keeping Coruscant safe is probably an Empire win/lose condition.
  19. yeah, that would have been the single best part of games like Rise of Nations is if you could play the world domination type "Risk" games, multiplayer. Now that would have been sweet.
  20. Problem with that is that I count 7 Tie Fighters 3 Tie Bombers and 3 Tie Scouts. Unless you can mix and match which I don't think counts.
  21. I refer back to my previous analogy: It could be that the Star Destroyers and equivalent Rebel ships are handled along the same lines as the Protoss Carriers in Starcraft. There is a set number of squadrons that the Cap ship can have docked, you have a build button on the control menu of the Cap ship when you select it to allow you to build any missing craft (or all of them when the Cap ship is first built). As squadrons are lost, you select the Cap ship and build replacements. Whether you can build the replacements (or originals if you have poor foresight) during battle is something that is important. If you build them only in Galactic mode it would not be as bad (still a bit wierd IMO). My other concern is that this will make building fighter squadrons a bit more manual than I would like, and it also means that you may not be able to station fighters on planets and space stations unless there is a specific fighter "hanger" upgrade for each. Delphi, could you please enlighten us as to the specifics? If he doesn't respond, we need to get this particular scenario answered in the chat, because it will affect the game tremendously.
  22. Meh, it is the thought that counts.
  23. Well, I think that the questions we ask should take into account the information provided by Delphi so far. I think some of the things that were culled in the original interview questions were answered or rendered in need of rewording given Delphi's involvment on the forums as of late.
  24. Woah, say what? I think the chat is actually happening tomorrow, not today.
  25. This is actually a good question that has not been answered completely, to my knowledge. I suspect that with the news that the bases on land are preset, this means that you will select what addon or upgrades to apply to it and you will assign garrisons all from the galactic map. This doesn't answer the question of how you set up defensive turrets, shields and the like, but hopefully I am wrong about the galactic map part. The whenever you want part is dependant on the answer to if you place defenses on the ground or in galactic mode though. This is a sequence I would like to see expounded upon in the chat.
