  2. What I meant in my reply was no. In Generals you didn't have them to protect, you just used the buildings sometimes. I may have been mistaken in assuming you have played Generals.
  3. Yeah, but that was to make the statement that "we can and will do it" to validate the threat of the DS. The moon was to avoid paying employee benefits...
  4. The building of a Death Star and blowing up of the moon that housed the workers after it was done doesn't leave much room for interpretation, does it?
  5. Think ambient cities like the cluster of buildings in some maps in Generals.
  6. Hmmm, should have phrased my post more carefully. I am stating that we don't know whether or not ion canons will do any structural damage or only disable systems and/or shields.

  8. How they model the Ion cannons is anybody's guess however. They put the shield generators outside of the shields! (sorry, but I had to)

  11. I don't think anyone would disagree that that would be cool and more "realistic", but see my post above on the ramifications a system like that would have on our forces and computers. I would rather fight them one at a time and have bigger battles, than having a bunch of tiny battles going on all over the place because of population limits being lower to support concurrent battles.

  13. I think gameplay wise it would be better for all of us if the battles are fought one at a time to allow us to have larger battles. If they allowed concurent battles, they would have to be prepaired for the eventuality of all 80+ systems having battles going on at the same time in space and on ground. That would be a possible 160+ battles going on at once. Very unlikely, but that is how you design code well, you take the extremes to form the boundaries and then you have to make sure everything in between is handled.
  14. It may be just that we saw the final blow to an already crippled ISD.... makes me wonder if they have damage models for their ships. I hope they do, but..... We also thought for sure it would be through ep VI, so you never know.

  17. I would like to point out that we may have to deal with a civil war with all of the Grand Moffs showing up here... :S
  18. Erm, slipping away from topic there. "Stay on target!" 25. Can you explain how the two different types of shields for ground defense will interact with each other? Like can they overlap, do you have a choice as to where to put them, etc. ? 26. How can the rebels sabotage an instalation if you are pulled into a space battle the minute they show up in an enemy guarded system? 27. Is there a limit to how many simultaneous space and/or ground battles that can be occuring at once? (this question is designed to garner answer to this plus the question of whether or not we can have simultaneous battles at all)

  20. Duh, I just thought of something to ask that should have been obvious: 24. Are we able to use characters to perform diplomacy to affect a neutral or our own planet's faction standing to bring them into our side or more into our side? Also, DarthMaulUK could you let us know if any of our questions are obviously worded in a way that they wont be able to answer or some such?
  21. I will of course play as the rebels some to simulate spying activities into their tactics, etc. but I am Empire officially.
  22. Ah, ok. I agree that that is how it SHOULD be, but what I want to know is how WILL it be in EAW. I would think they would be showing off the scarriness of the DS by displaying the reaction to its presence.
  23. I think that the explosions seen for the planet and then the DS were lame. The engine should be capable of showing those well enough for a trialer.
  24. Yes, maybe. But I think that what he has currently shared with us has been at his discretion. He may have had someone at LEC say stop, but I doubt they even are aware of this forum or have time to peruse it over the chaos of the LEC forums. It could also be that they requested someone from Petroglyph deal with us when we were in the middle of our SSD frenzy. He did say then that he was planning on showing up here at least twice a week.
  25. Mandalor219, you may want to reword those two like so: 3.) What is the currently expected date of release for the demo? 4.) Are you going to be doing any external beta testing for EAW and if so, how will we apply? I really like some of the questions you brought up, Foshjedi2004. They made me think of this one: 23. Can we maneuver around in the galactic and/or space maps while a ground battle is occuring? (An enemy force shows up in space while ground battle goes on for example?)
