  2. Anyone forget that Yoda died of old age within about 5 years (probably less) of the timeframe of this game?
  3. I wonder if it will be as simple as taking over one of those worlds for the Rebellion or even just blockading one, to destroy all progress made on and in-construction Death Star? That would suck big time.
  4. Something tells me that Luke becoming a Jedi is how Yoda will become available to the Rebellion. Oh, and since Luke can't become a Jedi in this game... I smell Yoda in an expansion... really... this guy been in a swamp very long time... Phew!
  5. I believe that Little B. said that that was something that they did for the demo and it could change. They have hinted at the ability to sabotage in construction ships. Nothing definate but I think that the demo will let us know if there is a campaign portion.

  7. True, but I would want to build up a huge army, go in and exterminate every last enemy unit, and seize the planet's resources for myself. Afterall, why waste a perfectly good planet that can benefit your forces? But then again, I would be playing as the Rebels, so I wouldn't be using the Death Star anyways. If it is the enemy's last planet, why waste the time.. the game will be over after you blow it up.

  10. You can't deny the beauty of finishing off a campaign by blowing up the enemy's last planet with a Death Star though.
  11. Anyone care to describe the new logo? I haven't seen it (I don't think). Was it on one of the trailers?
  12. Well, the real trick will be whether or not LoW will get the episode V and VI content put in before they release an expansion that does? Remember that they will want to milk the release as long as they can before putting out an expansion and for a mod group, delays are terminal.
  13. On this note, remember that Ben Kenobi didn't even know where Yoda was most likely. He helped Luke find him after he was "made lighter" for faster travel if you get my meaning. He was probably able to pop in to see Yoda as a force ghost would be able to find strong force users with ease. Heh, think about this: Vader gets out of the shower/oil bath, and Obi-Wan pops out of nowhere and shouts "Boo!". Vader curses and has to go take another shower/oil bath.

    The empire will have probe droids for sure, and the rebels have bothan units (don't know if they operate the same way as they were seen as regular fighting units). But a spy unit can not blockade an enemy planet, hence the aforementioned tactic. Would the gains due to forces you don't have to face as soon be as great as the expense of creating a blockader ship for each of your enemy's planets? This should be a good tactice to get you a precious few minutes head start in the arms race which could spell victory at the outset if you are pretty even in other terms of the conflict. As we all know about RTSs, it is all about the resources. It just so happens that in this game we get to work on accuiring them militarily rather than microdroidally (<-new word ).
  15. I imagine the final battle in my games to go thusly: My forces jump in from a central staging area. Everything I have will show up, and I do mean everything. Star Destroyers, cruisers, Acclimators, Dratted Broadsides if I don't boycott them completely and anything else I can have jump in without violating the dam pop cap . My forces will do absolutely nothing at first... they will pull into the best defensive formation I can manage. Their objective is to do nothing but defend the Death Star. That is correct, there will be no ground portion to the last battle in any of my games because there will be no ground .

    I wonder if this will work with only a single ship over the planet? If I have a small empty troop carrier (or whatever is the cheapest ship to build), what would keep me from building about 35 or so of them and sending them off to every planet on the map I don't own? If you do this... not only will you get a quick scan of all of the planets, you will blockade each and every planet the enemy owns with no space cover at all. Talk about an early resource crippling. How quickly can you put up a simple space gun or some defending structure that would force a space battle, instead of a defaulted blockade? This was a tactic I would use in rebellion sometimes when I had the assault transport researched (fastest ship in game, other than Millenium Falcon). The problem with Rebellion is that you can have fighters stationed on the planet without a shipyard... if we can do this, that would be a good counter to the tactic I mentioned previously.
  21. Not all of us. I could care less for the Venator or the Acclimator. I am interested only in the Original Trilogy era. Unfortunately, most of the content that I will be playing with in this game will be added in after the release by talented modders (LoW) I don't object to the Venator and company, but since it came at the exclusion of the Executor and/or others of its class and Tie-Interceptors (WTF?), I am not too happy with the ship list being filled from that end of the story-line. Anyhoo, my 2 cred.
  22. #3 has already been answered in the live developer chat. As a matter of fact, it was the only question of mine that got asked (or was able to be answered). The only swaying of a system to a side will be campaign events. Heros will be able to boost things on planets by their pressence, but not by doing missions ala Rebellion.
  23. Are you sure? The timeline is only a couple of years before ANH and the rebels already had the plans that he captured at the beginning of the movie.
  24. What part? Ships will not collide on purpose, and I think that they were specifically stated as not having collisions at all. Ships are not crewable, there would be no need for escape pods and units can not be placed on the ground map until the ground portion. Ships can not be captured. The only captures pertain to a certain hero's special ability to capture an AT-ST for example... on the ground map. Having a self destruct button is definately not in. Search through Delphi-PG's posts for confirmation.
  25. I think we are all on the same page as far as that goes. So the first issue is getting the models done and the textures. I wish I had some artistic talent at all, but I don't. So I will just have to stand on the sidelines rooting for the moddelers and skinners until we get the game or demo and I can start checking some data. I think if you look around a little bit on the web, you might be able to find some models based on Starcraft units that have already been made. It might be alot quicker to get permission from those creators to use them. Maybe not, but just a suggestion. I know MyZrael can't be the only moddeler on these forums! Someone step up!
