  1. The main problem is that with more than 2 players in the campaign map you will have a battle take place between 2 players and the rest have to watch due to the way the battles are handled. This will not be something that would go over very well in the long run and something the developers wouldn't waste time on. The only game I can think of that did something like this is Lords of the Realm II. And that is a good example of the sitting there and watching someone else fight situation I am referring to.
  2. I thought that the topic was about the demo, that should be released when it is stable enough to play. The limited range of demos should mean that there is less to go wrong with what is released. They don't make money directly off of the demo either so that part didn't make sense.
  3. Oh? Like what?
  4. Your b-day what? Weren't you born with it?
  5. I feel for the guy, though. He has got to be tired. I watched him for a while and he is still going going, nothing outlasts the .... heh, made you think of it
  6. I don't see anything different.. what is new that you are referring to?
  7. Campaign mode is 2 player only. the higher number of players for multiplay is only for the skirmiksh mode
  8. The wookies that will be working on it will be taken offsite so they are a moot point for that purpose. The ones that are left will probably fight against the Empire during any ground map.
  9. I understood it to be 1 space map and 1 ground map per system.
  10. Nah, I don't think you need to appologize, it is just that I have seen some big blowups when you get gender involved in the game discussion. I have been part of those blowups myself because I have a problem handing my ba$$s over to the type of females I described in my post. Gets a little heated as anyone who has had an argument with a female can attest to.
  11. The one GT because it owns the 6600s in SLI. The GT owns 6800GTs in SLI even so you'd get a card with maybe 3 or 4 times the performance of one 6600 and twice that at least of them in SLI. Anyone got the board and mula to SLI the 7800s? And would it be worth it?
  12. Thank you for the reply Delphi. Is there any way you could let us know whether or not LAN and Direct Connect (without Gamespy) are going to be options? As for the Mods, keep in mind, that the way this game is being developed, the main game is a mod on the engine, as it were. So if you and the others have the exact same mod files, then there should be no problem that wouldn't also arise in a LAN game. Time will tell, but I don't think that Petro has time to deal with things like that when they are testing their release version. At any rate, I would prefer them test what they are releasing and deal with mods later...
  13. I think the factions question is very important especially in the context of the campaign multiplayer portion, but its inclusion in #2 probably would have sabotaged an answer on the rest of #2 so best to give it its own question for later.
  14. Hmm, good question, but I still think that the 1vs1 mode should have direct connect to IP option. No need to have intermediate connection slowing that down.
  15. I think he is trying to get clarified his suspicion (sp?) on whether or not a bomber group would run out of torpedoes completely and not be able to fire any more until they go back to their carrier ship and reload. IMO this would not be the case given the type of game they are making.
  16. In that case it may have been updated for the AT-AT to be able to "Produce" them as its ability since the Star Destroyer now "Produces" Tie Fighters as its ability.
  17. As for the Ion shots, those come directly from Y-Wings. Go frame by frame and you will see what I mean. One shot comes from off-screen in the direction of a group of emerging Y-Wings, and then another shot comes directly from one of them.
  18. Hmm, would you be able to restrict that entire ship class from being available to the Rebels by destroying that planet? Or is it a moot point after they aquire it? This is vewy vewy intewesting.
  19. The Tie Defenders are the F/A 18 of the modern military. Excellent fighters, but suitable to bomb run as well. The Tie Advanced fills the role of space superiority more directly. But all this is off topic since none of these will be in the game.
  20. Heh, you don't tell a site admin what they can and can't do... he pwnes you. I think that he is right by the way. We have seen in the developer chat alone how quickly what seems to be a good question gets nulified by an incomplete or generalized response.
  21. There isn't. They are referring in this thread to the fact that there was proof that the DS would not be able to use the superlaser on capital ships. As for direct turbolaser attacks on and from the DS, looks unlikely, but no answer one way or the other has been offered.
  22. I personally don't have anything against women playing games as long as they don't start making noise about it like "Nyah! Haha, I am a girl and I play games, so what's up now!". When they get that attitude, I would prefer they leave immediately. It is even worse when they try to come in and take over like some posters on WoW complaining about how the character models (night elf and human) are too sexist and that Blizzard needs to hire female artists. (they have female artists and they draw the women that way too, by the way... anyhoo) I have never, not once in my 15-19 years playing computer games have had anything added to the experience by a female gamer that would not have been the same or better by a male gamer. The only things brought to the table that I have experience and what I have witnessed that are different than male gamers has been negative things. Not saying there should be no female gamers at all, the more the merrier except when they come in and try to change my experience, I say gtfo! (Get the Female Out) My girlfriend plays WoW with me and she gets irritated at the attitudes and actions of alot of female "gamers" like the situations I mentioned above. Not all female gamers are bad, like I said. But ones like my gf are the exception rather than the rule. Sad IMO, but it parrallels other areas too. Anyway, since this is the Bar, I guess topics like this are allowed, but if I were a moderator I would try to minimize potentially volatile topics like this as much as possible. Just a suggestion.
  23. Read any of this thread since you last posted? Yes. But I didn't acknowledge that you did remember, sorry. Anyway, I think that Yoda doesn't really fit with the way heros are going to be used in this game. He wouldn't pop out of hiding and take over the Rebellion and he probably wouldn't be running around engaging in battle, so no sense putting him in, when he can be used to hype an expansion... get my meaning?
  24. I certainly hope that Gamespy will not be the only way to connect to a game. The 1vs1 campaign mode begs for a direct connect to IP option. If any Petroglyph members read this thread, please share what you can about this aspect. Gamespy sucks, has sucked, will probably always suck... it will single-handedly drop peoples enjoyment playing this game by 20-50% by itself alone. And this is not an exageration. One of the big deals about this game is the 1v1 campaign mode in the Star Wars setting and if that is rendered a problemfest, not something people will bother recommending to their friends so they can play. Please, any info?
  25. If you have to hold those two planets, could you have the Death Star 99% completed and lose all of your time and resources in one swift stroke if the Rebels blockade one of those two planets?
