  1. The team behind it is run by and Englishman. Now I'm not being stereotypical or anything, but I do think that's a change for the better. Fosh will agree with me I'm sure. Maybe now they have the right guy for the job. Also the time they've had on it seems a lot less pushed. All through BFME construction I was worried it should be rushed... I haven't felt so much on that front this time around. (probably because it seems to be exactly the same engine. It's like BFME1 should have been had they had more time) I know what you mean about strategic depth Indum. I'm one of the first to say how unbalanced BFME1 was, but I'm willing to think that things can change. I'll wait until I see a good review before I get it to be sure, but I'm not going to look at it negatively until I have reason to.
  2. Lets go for some major characters who I believe won't cut the mustard: Uncle Owen. Can't see him going out into the universe to kick some ass. Same for Beru. Jabba the Hutt. Which side would he be on pray tell... and he's a slow character. How would fighting with him be possible? Wicket might get in, but can the same be said for Chief Chirpa and that Shaman guy Logray? Nien Nunb. The guy who pilots the MF with Lando in EP6. I must admit I always liked this guy. No idea why exactly... In the end it's hard to say without knowing how many heroes the game intends to include. Just because they're a hero in game doesn't mean they have to be powerful.
  3. Do I hear the sounds of people jumping on a bandwagon? Fair enough, that's a great achievement for the players, but let's not get carried away. Congrats to them, they're the ones who earnt it.
  4. I'm not so much as getting hyped up as covering my back should there be a multiplayer. I don't want all you guys in and 8 way brawl while I sit out on the sidelines because I was busy not speaking up because I thought it was SP only.
  5. Yes he is. I was going to save my welcome for when (or if) he posts, but what the hey. Hi, hello, welcome... etc...
  6. I believe the begnniing of WW1 is best summed up by these words from Blackadder. For those not familiar with the series, this was from the 4th series of the comedy set in the British trenches. Enjoy: Baldrick: No, the thing is: The way I see it, these days there's a war on, right? and, ages ago, there wasn't a war on, right? So, there must have been a moment when there not being a war on went away, right? and there being a war on came along. So, what I want to know is: How did we get from the one case of affairs to the other case of affairs? Edmund: Do you mean "How did the war start?" Baldrick: Yeah. George: The war started because of the vile Hun and his villainous empire-building. Edmund: George, the British Empire at present covers a quarter of the globe, while the German Empire consists of a small sausage factory in Tanganyika. I hardly think that we can be entirely absolved of blame on the imperialistic front. George: Oh, no, sir, absolutely not. (aside, to Baldrick) Mad as a bicycle! Baldrick: I heard that it started when a bloke called Archie Duke shot an ostrich 'cause he was hungry. Edmund: I think you mean it started when the Archduke of Austro-Hungary got shot. Baldrick: Nah, there was definitely an ostrich involved, sir. Edmund: Well, possibly. But the real reason for the whole thing was that it was too much effort *not* to have a war. George: By gum this is interesting; I always loved history - The Battle of Hastings, Henry VIII and his six knives, all that. Edmund: You see, Baldrick, in order to prevent war in Europe, two superblocs developed: us, the French and the Russians on one side, and the Germans and Austro-Hungary on the other. The idea was to have two vast opposing armies, each acting as the other's deterrent. That way there could never be a war. Baldrick: But this is a sort of a war, isn't it, sir? Edmund: Yes, that's right. You see, there was a tiny flaw in the plan. George: What was that, sir? Edmund: It was bollocks.
  7. Dark troopers are possible I suppose. They do tie in with Kyle's experiences in DF, who we know is in game. I wouldn't expect we'd see the same kind of changes for units based on planet terrain, simply because it doesn't warrant it (there are no units which appear vastly different on different worlds) and because it would require many models for one unit to be modelled. Just my opinion, I may be wrong. As for Ghostly's new name, it's gonna take a while to adapt to it, but it's pretty cool. Guess I'll have to call him Youki now...
  8. Look, I've seen a lot worse grammar than that on forums before. Like I said, it wasn't posed all that badly at all. Same, but it's probably going to be a while yet before we get anything back. We just have to sit back and wait patiently.
  9. My avatar is about 12. something Kb. I had to do a lot of colour changes to it to get it under 15k. Can't say for stellar magic, but I can't say it caught my attention as being large. Hard to tell really. Banners have a different limit imposed on them. I'm not sure what it is for them exactly. EDIT: banner limit is 150 kb. Stellar's avatar comes to 13.3 kb. Mine comes to 12.2 kb. Your current one comes to 575 kb. You can probably see now why I noticed it.
  10. You might want to watch out about that avatar. I'm certain Cain imposed a 15kb file size on avatars so it doesn't load exceedingly slowly for 56k users and the like. Now I don't know what the file size is, but with that amount of colour and detail I'd have to say it's above the 15kb limit. Something to think about...
  11. I must admit I don't usually turn the music off in a Star Wars game, as for the most part it fits well. The exception is Jedi Academy, but I do that for recording purposes.
  12. I've never been great with DOS, even less so now I'm not used to using it frequently. I seem to get: ping http://www.empire-at-war.de 154,145,131,120 / 137 ping http://www.empireatwar.pexgames.com 158,132,137,132 / 139 England, Kent. 4:03 pm GMT (I'm not certain of this because I think it's an hour off true GMT because of daylight saving. I'm usless with that kind of thing. I'm in England, I'm sure someone can work it out.) Hope that helps.
  13. Yeah, Pizza time. Mmmmm... black and mushroomy pizza... *eating sounds* Whoa... I feel dizzy... *Collapses*
  14. I can live with it how it is. Like I said somewhere else, Qu 60 as it was wasn't worded all too badly compared to some of them. Wouldn't have minded editing it though, makes me feel useful.
  15. I'm tired so this may not be wonderful, but you might consider rewording Qu 10 to: We've been told that the game will be very moddable and use data driven XML files. Could you perhaps give an example of an entry in these files? In addition to these XML files, how many other files would need to be edited to place a new unit ingame?
  16. I think what we're hearing from the comments so far is that the campaign gets some support, but is the inferior part off the game for many of us. Maybe it isn't the fact it's American history in particular like I thought, but there is something about it just doesn't inspire any desire to play other campaign levels in the full game.
  17. I never figured that. I just felt Yoda gave up easily. It was a draw and Yoda comes out saying "Into exile I must go". Why? It wasn't that unfair a battle. Go get Obi and then both kick his ass...
  18. I suppose I can be just as bad. Well, maybe not quite, but I could have had a bit more restraint over that Yoda vs Emperor thing I did... and that weird story of how Ep4 could have been I hope people don't consider me a troll for that. At the time they were vaguely relevant... they just evolved somehow...
  19. Welcome back to part three of tonight's fight. They're ready to get underway... let's watch. Round THREE. FIGHT!!! They're tired now, you can see how they struggle to even get close to one another. Yoda seems to be relying heavily on that cane of his... and Palaptine reaches into his cloak and takes out... no, not that... it's a lightsaber. Now that's got to be against the rules... But those jumps Yoda seems to be making just allow him to avoid the outlandish swings of the emperor with ease. He's flying off the ropes one side of the ring to fling off them the opposite side. Palps is no doubt confused. He's old and senile. he's probably not sure what's going on and it seems like the agility of his opponent is starting to drain his reserves of strength... But he refuses to give up. He hacks at Yoda... oh and it's close. He sabers Yoda's staff in two. But Yoda takes it in his stride... what's this. He's over the head and on to our Emperor's back where he's clinging on for dear life, with the emperor swinging his lightsaber wildly and frying the audience with lightning in attempts to shift him... but he refuses to be moved. And it's the killing blow from the Emperor straight through the stomach... his own. Yoda's dismounting and the Emperor rightly is confused by what's just transpired... he's going down... and he's out. Yoda is the CHAMPION!!! Now we would guess he should have earnt something for that, but we're disqualifying him for that blatant disregard of rules in the first round. He wins, but we aren't going to pay him. So that's it folks. Tune in next time to 'Celebrity Star Wars Battles' where we'll have the tense fight of C-3PO verses the Wookie. We can't wait for that one. Until then...
  20. I opened up a hornet's nest with that pic... Curse me and my love for picture publisher. How was I to know it would result in such unrestrained evil... (Still much better than Bush though)
  21. I know where I am. People already know. In all rights people should have stopped asking... But maybe that's just because people care for me... how nice... ...and deeply disturbing
  22. And we're back. Round two is about to get underway. With the shameless play of Yoad in the first round there's little to suggest he's going to hold back this time, the Emperor must get on his guard. Here we go. Round TWO. FIGHT!!! There's some slight movement from the corners, they're sizing each other up... waiting for the initial blow. And here it is. Yoda over the head of P, he spins only to get rapped about his kneecaps with the cane. Too close for Yoda, Emp P gets a blow to the face of Yoda and he stumbles. He's up like a flash and all over P with the speed of a small green ninja. Palps seems to be taking the damage in his stride now... and oh, it's another of those lightning attacks, and Yoda seems to have been caught off guard. That'll teach him for trying to be a kangaroo. He's up again...but there's the bell for the end of round 2. Palapatine seems to have pulled back from the brink and seems to be thinking more tactically. His aggression early seems to have been expected by the green puppet contender, but the jumping seems not to have helped him here. We're going for another break, but stay tuned for the third and final part of tonight's furious bout of the forces.
  23. I don't think 60 needs rewording that badly. If it turns out it wins (as it is winning currently) it will only need a little ajustment, if any. My only concern about question 60 is that it could be considered two questions in one, rewording may not make that so apparent, but it's something that might need to be considered.
  24. let's see. In the red corner representing the rebels and Jedi... the muppet with attitude. He's green, he's got a cane... give it up for the master... YODA! Aaaand in the red corner supporting the Imperial govenment and his own pride. He's evil, he's wrinkly and he pees in a cup. It's our one and only... EMPEROR PALPATINE!!! Round ONE. FIGHT!!! Oh, and the Emperor's gone for his classic trademark lightning to the face move, but Yoda blocks with his hands. Whoa, this guy must be tough to handle that punishment. The big P's on the defensive, and it's another burst of lightning, but the green fella just keeps catching it... and whoa, sends it hurtling back... Ooh that's gotta hurt... it looks like Palpatine's down... but wait, he's up again slowly... and OW.. it's a hit to the crotch with Yoda's stick. Below the belt little dude, below the belt... and there's the bell. It's over. The participants retire to their corners for what can only be described as a battle of the strongest and oldest. Return after the break when we'll bring you round 2 of this epic battle of the wrinklies... until then, don't change channel... back after this...
  25. In question 26 when you say 'grand strategy mode' do you mean the campaign? I was just wondering because it's not 100% clear from my perspective what part of the game you mean exactly. If it turns out we go with Question 26 I'd prefer that someone (perhaps myself or Mawku again) goes over it to clear that up.
