    OMG

The reason you were banned was that your actions and behavior on the forums went against everything we enforce. You failed to heed any of the mods who warned you, and it was the admins who finally banned you considering your own lack of compliance with moderator requests and your immaturity on the forums. You may be unbanned in the future if there is a joint belief among the 'powers that be' that you can handle yourself according to the standards we all abide on these forums. I wouldn't expect it at present though.
  3. I thought I'd just share this with anyone interested. It's basically a creation I've finished off for this week's creative writing module (EN600, to be handed in on Thursday). It's not been looked at by anyone else other than myself at present, but is basically to get the professor to know what we're each capable of. Since I haven't shared anything here yet I thought I'd just post it for anyone interested and erhaps to encourage others to post stuff. For all Star Wars fans, be aware, this ISN'T Star Wars related, this is just a piece of writing I constructed over the course of about 3 days. I know the sub-forum is Star Wars fiction, but I thought this was a better place to put this than the bar. I hope those who read it enjoy it, even though I doubt many of you will understand it fully. If you feel like giving feedback feel free. It always helps, even if it's entirely negative it's better than nothing. Oh, and if you're still doing those 'Stellar awards' Stellar Magic, you might as well put this up as an entry under short story below 5000 words. That is if you're still doing them. =============================================== I suppose it would be naive of me to believe that everyone experiences the same feelings with situation repeating itself over and over like a hereditary gene, but even under the knowledge that we’re all individual the fact still remains, we all feel, and it can’t be all that different. I’m sure we all could have been in each other’s shoes, living out each other’s lives in an identical, repeating, probabilistic equation, with the same feelings and emotions as each other. You would expect with this in mind, that you should potentially be able to understand every single of god’s creations, since if you’d have found yourself in their role with the same experiences, you’d do exactly the same atrocities. The only thing that would perhaps be a foul element to this belief is genetics. But it’s been philosophised so many times whether an individual can be born evil that to delve in deep is nothing but foolhardy. In such a situation there is every reason to expect to find yourself in a situation where you stand on the brink, with a chasm before you and salvation behind you. What you don’t expect is to greet that situation literally. It’s now that I should recount my means of getting here, but to be honest that’s a route I’d never really wish to venture. It serves a purpose to me, but even now I’m beginning to forget it. That’s what ultimately happens to all memories, they fade. I guess that’s what happened to my brother. I take a step back from the precipice and turn to face him. “I’m here. I’m surprised you would want to see me after what happened.â€
  4. I don't know. If the game had unit experience I hink they'd have announced it by now. Units I can see the LEC 'revealing' to the community, but major gameplay features I'm sure they would have said something about.
  5. *Comes out from behind the couch where he's hidden throughout the hadoken. Dances (because he can), then proclaims himself world emperor, since no offical is left there to stop him. All hail the Emperor!*
  6. I know, I saw this ages ago when I got Troops. I must admit the scale of the 3D enviroments, in particular the space and overview city scenes was excellent. In that respect I think it's on par with many professional films. I wouldn't expect another chapter any time soon though. It feels like I've been waiting ages for chapter 2.
  7. Before your time that term, eh? I would have thought so, since Luddites were a group of people during the industrial revolution who basically saw the new technology as a bad thing (It put them out of work I believe. It was some kind of employment thing) and would sabotage the equiptment. The term has changed to mean people who oppose any form of progression of technology etc.
  8. Also finished it, what there is of it. It's pretty good. I'll add it to the list of ones to watch.
  9. My brief 15 second concocted theory (meaning I thought it up in 15 seconds, not that it'll take only 15 seconds to read) goes as follows: We hear stormies being good shots from Ben, who analyses that their shots are too accurate to be sand people. This suggsts that usually stormies are crack shots despite their helmets possibly not having a great vison range. The rebels also seem to do very badly against them in ground combat. The Blockade runner, Hoth... They seem to have no problem taking them down. This might be that the rebels are useless fighters, but I'd bet on it just being strong, well trained Stormtroopers. Now consider, where do we see them fight like this... Well, I can think of one constant, it's Vader. Vader is on the Tantive when the stormies take on the Rebels and Cap'n Antilles. Vader is present on Hoth when the stormies take the base. Guess what, those troops that shot up the Lars homestead and attacked that sandcrawler were sent down by... Ok, maybe not Vader, but some Imperial officer made the decision, and that decision probably wasn't to send down all their rookies. Now where do we see stormies fight badly? On the Death Star for one, and I can say that their fighting vs Ewoks leaves something to be desired. The troops our heroes run into are hardly crack shots, but they show no signs of being experienced veterans. They're not special enough to accompany anyone special like Vader, and you can never say they were expecting rebels to charge out of nowhere at them and expect to be engaged. For the most part the stormies and Imperials on board are caught off guard completely. It is nice to think that because it was the Imperial's ultimate weapon they stuffed it full of their newbees to keep them safe . As for Endor, well they're Ewoks, and they outnumbered the stormies to begin with. I bet more Ewoks died that stormtroopers there. Oh, and Luke was probably just complaining for the sake of it about that helmet. Remember how he complained about that blast helmet to Obi-Wan when he was training with the saber. My guess is he just didn't like to mess up his hair, so he complained whenever he had to wear something hat-like on it. It doesn't mean the Stormtroopers have a bad helmet at all.
  10. I remember fighting against those as Wedge in rogue squadron one on the n64. Brings back a lot of memories. The model is damn cool by the way.
  11. They most likely can't shoot straight because it's probably very distracting seeing a whole holographic battleground in front of you. Or alternatively, they were maybe just rotating the view to get the perfect angle to shoot and got it stuck in some bizarre 270* angle. That'll teach them to read the user's manual.
  12. still reading it... when I have a chance what with actual studies, that is. Seems pretty cool so far.
  13. In an attempt to push this back on topic, do you think that the native neutral population will have their own npc heroes? Imagine: You're on Naboo and have a small gungan force to defend against the Imperials. You've lost a lot of troops in the ensuing battle, and now there's no-one left to stand in the way of the Imperial invasion except your neutral gungan allies... lead by General Tarpals. I think that would be pretty decent to play with, as long as they don't make the npc heroes stupidly hard to defeat, or have ridiculously stupid AI so they never retreat slightly when hurt.
  14. Is he allowed to do that? Surely if you're renting from him the internet access comes as part of that, exclusive of any 'sharing'.
  15. I agree with Mawku when he says the SSD will not be as big or as powerful if ingame. If it is, then the Rebels have little hope of destroying it. It would be cool to see it in all it's glory, but in order that 10 or more MC80s are needed to take one down while undefended by other craft it would have to have a massive resource cost. Even then, when on the field it would be almost unstoppable... They could always try to make them very vunerable to a specific unit/class, but the truth of the matter is that the larger ships like the SSDs have very few flaws in terms of what can take it down. Heroes are perhaps the only thing that comes to mind.
  16. Americans won't know him, like I said. They're probably only familiar with Monty Python... I bet most of them have never heard of Morcambe and Wise either. Classic stuff. Love the quote Fosh. Very fitting.
  17. True, but most of the EAW topics are covering ground we've looked at quite closely already. Don't forget forums can die. Not this one instantly, because even if we run out of topics we'll still be a cut above many current EAW forums, and supporting Petroglyph means we'll have other potential games to follow... not limited to EAW years from now when it's in it's departing days. Better make it a long sleep if you want to give us a chance of that. Thing is even then I wouldn't put it past you that you don't post in your sleep. It certainly would explain the high number of posts.
  18. Heard about it, never read it. From what I recall the author was very young considering the industry... I also recall I was quite envious... Apart from that, I know near on nothing about it.
  19. I don't see how the thread was hijacked. We were discussing the rationality behind a possible existence of dragons. This existence, as I have pointed out before, would be most likely as either lizard, bird or mammal. In looking at how a real dragon could have lived we were also looking at where they could have lived, their anatomy...etc
  20. I was thinking more cave paintings and such, but your version is fine as well Basically since lizards are essentially cold blooded, and have no thick hair or fur to prevent heat escaping, they lose a great deal of heat. The result of this is that they thrive in areas where they can lay in the sun (Crocodiles I know do this very frequntly) in order to maintain a constant warm body temperature. The problem I have is that volcanoes are a bit extreme heat wise, so they're unlikely to find it a suitable environment ...through lack of food to hunt, general excess of heat. For the north, cold climates would be the death of them (Unless as I have mentioned before they are mammal) since their ability to gain heat would be overwhelmed by the cold. Hybernation is possible, but to be honest if they stuggled to survive the summer the environment is obviously not suitable for them. The ideal location would be somewhere along the equator, somewhere where temperature fluctuation and the possibility of cold isn't so much of an issue.
  21. He's a classic English comedian, so it's unlikely many americans would have heard of him.
  22. Or each of the palnets he captured rebelled against him because he didn't leave enough of a garrison there... 200 limit sounds good in theory, but it's really just a number out of context. How much does one trooper squad take up? 1 unit, or the full 200? Guesses like a 200 limit are all fine and good, but until we know how much one unit 'costs' in terms of army space per planet, there isn't a great deal of good to be made out of speculation of the limits.
  23. It's one of those games like Halo. You know the gameplay could be so much better, yet for some reason the whole experience has a hold over you and you end up coming back. It has many, many faults... yet for some reason you do overlook them one in a while in favor of the atmosphere... I don't hate any games, but I do occasionally find ones that don't suit my taste. I don't hate them though, I just tend to ignore or avoid them in favor of ones I generally like. If people really need something, I wasn't too keen on Neverwinter Nights. I think it's one of the shortest played games I have, because the novelty wore off quite quickly. Again, I don't hate it, I just don't play it.
  24. Lizards are generally creatures that thrive in warm climates it's true, but the heat of a volcano is pretty emmense. A dormant one is a possibility, I can imagine lizards/mammals capable of living there with little problem. The heat of the planet core... well that's just stupidly so. If anything can live there at all, it hasn't got an anatomy at all similar to lizard, mammal... anything. I think even some evolved microscopic cells would have trouble reproducing there.
  25. I prefer the Rebel fighters, but the Imperial capital ships. If I had to go for only one I'd probably prefer to go for the star destroyers more... so capital ships. Still, it's a tough decision. For EAW I'm likely to create both fighters and capitals in great number. It's more about what I need at the time than anything else.
