mod vt.,n. [very common] 1. Short for `modify' or `modification'. Very commonly used -- in fact the full terms are considered markers that one is being formal. The plural `mods' is used esp. with reference to bug fixes or minor design changes in hardware or software, most esp. with respect to patch sets or a diff. 2. Short for modulo but used _only_ for its techspeak sense. That's the definition. What it in the end 'does' is anything that the individual person 'modding' is capable of, or wants to do...

Do you think someone will make a Trek mod for EaW?
Darkmark replied to TSKNF's topic in EAW Mods General Workshop
And that would work. Dominion would of course be Dominion/Cardassian Alliance... The war in DS9 basically. One major problem Trak fans have with EAW modding is the use of ground units. Sure, New Worlds had some tanks etc I guess you could model, but I can imagine major problems replacing some of the EAW units with Star Trek ones. Think how many true military ground tanks/machines we see in all the series... what would replace the AT-AT? the AT-ST? Tie Crawler? Only the infantry seem feasable. Many... many away teams... -
I'm not 100% certain what X-fire is, so knowing me I'm not going to jump into it headfirst. Still, I'd be happy to join some games with you guys... and show how badly I play at my new game

It's like Alucard said. It's basically just individual customisation of the game to bring in elements that you would like to see. They can exist as one off mods, like adding a ship or station, or simply changing the specs of an existing one. These small changes are simply 'Addons'. Larger changes such as a complete overhaul of the game, replacing sides, units, interface, interactions & animations... this is a 'Total Conversion', commonly shortened to 'TC'. These are both extremes in the category of being game 'Mods'. I hope that makes sense.

I personally liked the idea of the Fed vs Klingon confict of the first 6 movies. If we look at the game as a whole the gameplay comes quite close in terms of sides, makes it easy to make replacements of the sides. The only problem with that is the number of heroes there can be... There's unlikely to be more than 2 factions, unless they're much smaller than the EAW ones. Somehow I can't see this happening easily, since to add in new factions sounds a lot harder than simply adding units and changing planet names. -
Ok, bought HL2. This mod may... or may not have been one thing that contributed to the buying of it. Goldeneye story + HL graphics... the combination of the two can be hardly bad...

I'd be interested to see how they use it. After all, a revolution Zelda and a revolution Mario game are both in the works... I wonder what unique uses the controller will have in games of that nature.

It's a possibility. I saw one guy talking about it on a forim a while back. He was split between doing one set during the first 6 films (Fed vs Klings), the Cardassian war from Ds9, or a Enterprise E + Fed vs Borg one. I think he dropped it due to lack of support though We may have one. It just depends how many people out there would want to play one should one be made. I like to think if you can't speak Klingon, then you've yet to become something detrimental to society. I can't. I like Star Trek, know my stuff usually, but I 'aint gonna get that obsessed about it. -
Got to get HL2 first... this gives me yet another reason to... Must get it... must... If only for the Goldeneye goodness...

With Luke on the rebel side, that logically means that he wouldn't support him or 'his' rebellion... which means he wouldn't be heartbroken should the Empire wipe out them out... all of them. Hence Imperial sympathies. The other bounty hunters didn't though from what I recall. They were just in it for the moolah... and one (I can't remebmber which) just got caught in the right place at the right time.

Well I'm over half, but I'm still only 2/3 of the way there. I must admit I always considered 30-50 as full adult. But what does age matter? From my experience the older (I don't mean this harshly, I do mean comparatively) gamer is more likely to provide a more balanced and reasonable argument than those still undergoing adolescence who fail to regularly. Also, I don't think many people care who they discuss topics with, whether old or young, as long as the content is worth discussing. Most people would probably be surprised just how many people above the age of 50 play games online and participate in communities like this. So welcome...and don't let the young 'uns get you down.

So maybe it wasn't an act of heartless violence. Maybe Tarkin only did it to get rid of Jar Jar... If so that means Tarkin was EVEN COOLER than I give him credit for.

Yeah, I could do without a pony. It can be fried along with Jar Jar for all I care...

Damn it, someone's on to my machinima ideas. The series I was working on will (If I can get it to continue) have an 80 year old (ish) clone... Now all of a sudden people start to think about years in terms of mathmatics and stumble upon my ideas... ...not good... not good at all (BTW, I always figured that they just made new ones and accepted people via the academy at the same time like Gen.Vader said)

It looks... original. Then again I have always been a loyal nintendo follower, so I have the utmost faith that it will work perfectly and comfortably for the user.

Hey... where'd my black, mushroomy piece of pizza go... I'm sure I had it when I blacked out from trying to eat it. Guess with 9 members left to get I've still got time to find it though. Here pizza, pizza, pizza...

Thumbs up to you, it really is looking cool. I'm sure it will be great when completed.

Jar Jar is the wrong time period... period. (although I should say full stop because I'm English, but then the nifty word play doesn't work) I have nothing personal against Jar Jar, but to be fair he never gave a lot to Star Wars. Give me the banter of two droids any day. They better be in there. I can't imagine what use they'd have (Well R2 might be slightly) but they should be there. Also how about Captain Antilles (Not Wedge. The Blockade Runner Captain). He's still alive at the start of the game remember...

We won't get the answers back instantly, so now's the time to sit back and wait patiently. Also sorry to dissapoint, but from the selection of questions voted for, you're unlikely to know from any answers Petroglyph may give whether 'Hapans and their Battle Dragons in the game'... whatever they are... I don't believe any of the questions were focused on learning about units.

I'm sorry, 181st squadron. Like I said, my info was a little distorted. So what's the bet the 181st will appear in some form? Like red squadron do possibly.

I always thought Fett had Empire sympathies. I'm pretty sure he had worked for the Imperials on many other occasions before the Han hunt in EP5... true it was mainly to do with the money, but I couldn't see him going to join the Rebels unless the sum was vast. Like I said elsewhere, I always considered him an Imperial sympathiser just as Kyle and Dash (and other mercs similar to them) were for the rebellion. Considering what the Jango story in EP2 gave us, I can understand entirely why Boba would be biased against the Jedi and their rebel cause.

Kasan Moor. Probably spelt it wrong. She was in the first Rogue Squadron game as a defector from the 131st (I think) squadron of tie interceptors. Apparently the 'best of the best'. This info is bound to be a little distorted since it's been years since I played RS last. I do recall them saying 'best of the best' in game though. Wouldn't have any qualms about seeing her in game for the Imps.

You are mistaken. I checked the JA single player and Luke only mentions one padawan's name before trailing off, and that isn't the name. If we have Kyle Katarn, it's possible but a long shot that we'll see the offshoots of his story with: Jan, Rahn, Jerec & Cohorts (Sariss, Boc, Yun, Maw, Pic, Gorc...) General Mohc. I would suggest Desann and Tavion as well, but to be honest I wouldn't care much for them in game.

I hadn't noticed that. It does raise the question about hired heroes. From what I recall the heroes for the rebels had green backgrounds very much in contrast to the imperial ones, so they aren't rebel, that's for sure. Greedo I had the same feeling we'd see as these bounbty hunter guys, but since he was working for Jabba in the films and these guys for Vader I figured there was more chance of them having a definate side... If they're hireable though, that does change matters. Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention Bossk... Doh.

I just wondered about the bounty hunters. I mean, we can expect Boba to side with the empire over the rebel scum, but what are other people's opinions of the others we see in EP5? I just figure since they sign up for the bounty on Han in EP5, that there's always the chance they are Imperial based heroes, but they don't really fit that perfectly. Neither do they really fit the rebel cause. I expect them to be in game, because as characters they're interesting and mildly important to the storyline, but how and who for I don't know. From what I recall, Zuckuss and 4LOM ended up with the rebels in the end, the IG-88s were all destroyed and seemed to work for themselves anyway, and Dengar seems an equal candidate for either side. So quite where they'd go, should they be in game, is a little of a mystery to me. Any ideas?
