  1. It's better off not being the official EAW forums. Think about the type of rational discussions we have here compared with those over at the LEC forums. It seems these are the most creative, serious forums at present, but that's only because they attact that kind of person at present. Official Petroglyph forums... now that I could handle. But for now unofficial is good. Are you sure about that? I was member 115, and I've been over a month. Also 170 divided by 2 is 85. Stating to see it. That would mean it couldn't have been doubled in the one month alone. Maybe you mean the amount of registered members joining compared to last month has doubled...
  2. Either that Death Star of yours is going very slowly or it's got a very long way to travel Little B... I've always thought 7th. That's the word from the official LEC site. But is the release date the same all over the world? Usually the US gets games a couple of days ealier than the UK does. I was wondering if this will be the same, or if it's one of those rare cases where it's released for everyone on the same day.
  3. Optimistic to think it could be an expansion, but I wouldn't mind a completely new game from Petroglyph either. Hard to say whether the game actually needs an expansion when it hasn't been released yet. Even harder when there is still half a year to go before release.
  4. This all depends whether Heroes (Ground based) are able to be assigned to any space vessel of your choice, or whether for space comabt they are pre programmed to a specific craft. IE: Han will always fly the Falcon in space, so there is just the Millenium F ship model always with the voice of Han. Hero abilities for special ships would be interesting in the battles though. What exactly the abilities would be I'm not sure, but it would be cool.
  5. Yeah, you're both right. My error. Damn my resolution settings. It cuts off that side of the screen so I didn't see it until I scrolled across now. Sorry.
  6. The laser fire is the wrong colour. I would expect green fire coming from the station if it's Imperial. If it's not Imperial, why are the other Rebel ships attacking it? As for the debris/mines, I would have thought Petroglyph would have modelled something uneven if they wanted it to be. True, good skins can make a real difference in appearance, but it seems odd they'd go to the effort of making perfectly equal shaped debris only then to disguise the fact it's not uneven. One idea I didn't consider, they could be escape pods...
  7. The amount of new people joining the forum does seem to have slowed down. It might just be the time of year (I expect during the summer less people will be online and instead on holiday). Perhaps we need to advertise the site a little more?
  8. It's a little old now (As Cain pointed out) but it hadn't yet been identified clearly. it's important because there are some issues it brought to my attention that I was unsure about. If anyone wishes to discuss anything brought up by it, this is the place. The original announcement can be found here: http://swempireatwar.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=444 I was interested in particular by the implications that a ground based Vader has the ability to enter craft on the surface. I could be reading too much into it here, but that's what it sounds like. I wouldn't mind seeing him behind the controls of an AT-AT that's for sure.
  9. I don't know about you, but it will be more depressing the closer we get to the date. That unbearable waiting where you know there are only 20 days left... I'm sure to be clicking on that link constantly at that point just to watch it tick down to 0.
  10. Skinning's just the basic, arty side, so many tutorials focus on the actual art side of the skinning, which is perhaps the more difficult side if you want to get it perfect. But still it's just creating a .jpg or .bmp or another art format that can be applied the the mesh/3d model. I'm not certain about modelling, because I've never got very far with it, but people I know use either the free Milkshape 3D, or the expensive set of tools 3D Studios Max. For a model just displaying in a modelling program, there should be some way of applying a skin to it, but without in depth knowledge of any model program really, I'm not so much of a help there. For a model in a game, there's usually some sort of pretty simple .txt coding that connects models to skins so I'd copy that and use it to link the model to my own skins.
  11. Nice little face. Almost like a transformer. Ok, first I noticed there's no fire coming from the station (No green stuff). Then I noticed the two pos down at the bottom near the X-wings. Are these mines? or station debris (In my opinion they're too well cut to be debris)? Station defenses? Any ideas?
  12. From what I can tell it was released on the 23rd July, so yes but not by long. If we already have a topic regarding this I'll delete this one, but I'm afraid I didn't see any. I must admit that until today's announcement on the Petroglyph site I hadn't seen it before. If anyone wishes to discuss anything that this review has brought to your attention or you just want to talk about, the discussion topic regarding it can be found here: http://swempireatwar.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=6294#6294 Darkmark.
  13. Well, let's see now. I have the alien at the end of the credits of the original Star Trek... so by that logic, that puts me... ... ??? But you're right, there is a similarity. Especially since Fosh now has a rebel logo as his avatar.
  14. Sorry about that, it's up there now
  15. Whills are Yoda's race right?
  16. GameDaily have recently released their review of Empire at War. Like with all reviews it reveals very little we didn't already know, but there are some bits of knowledge in there which may clarify some concerns or beliefs for anybody with the time to read it. In particular I noted: So stop by and have a look if you're interested. http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=595690
  17. They're unlikely to run when outnumbering you and and preventing you from running. In the case of heavy guarding of their INT, the best idea I can forsee is breaking your forces in two. True they become less powerful, but in order to guard the INT the imperials will have to remain as one group or face leaving it move vunerable. If they split from the INT and go after one group, you move in with the other. It's not ideal since that kind of player will leave some force guarding it no matter what, but as you said Saint...
  18. Following on from my taun taun remark... Wampas I suppose will be there. Ewoks maybe, and thier little ewok weaponry like catapaults and tree logs. Tusken Raiders. Not really animal, but it's difficult to draw the line between alien animal and alien. I'm just finding the likely ones though, there's bound to be other less well known ones for the non film worlds.
  19. It helps to know both sides in and out. If you know what your enemies options of counterattack are it becomes a lot easier to think up methods of avoiding them or predict their coming tactics.
  20. In all likelihood it is a cinematic, because the odds that there is a real trench run are stacked against it. Not that I wouldn't mind seeing a trench run if it's well made and works well, but in my opinion the chances of it being a cinematic are considerably more. The only problem I can see with it being a cinematic is the exploding star destroyer in the background. If we are to believe that we can attack the death star at any point who is to say whether there will be and Star Destroyers there to explode. It would look very odd if you attacked the DS with nothing around it only to see an exploding SD in the background.
  21. Ah yes, I considered copying those rules from Josh over. I like the stuff you've set up so far siddus. The avatar piece is particularly good, drawing together the old posts. It's all starting to look very good. A week should be fine for my announcement to be stickied, there's no point having it stickied for very long since it's only intended a brief report of what was happening. Edit: I just noticed Cain spelt the word 'feel' wrong in the description for the Welcome Office. It doesn't matter too much, it's just a typo. I hardly noticed it.
  22. Back to the topice, I'd like the ability to create my own heroes, but I really don't think they will have this element in EAW. They might possibly have some way of doing it in a scenario editor or another additonal program without replacing old ones. If they do I'll be happy to make do with that.
  23. Is it just me or does no one else care that Obi-Wan's neck is extremely long? I didn't realise he was part giraffe. Nice choice of pics by the way Fosh.
  24. The news forum is now changing for the better. In order to make information more easily accessible, it has been split into two new sections. For all the latest information from Petroglyph, EAW and information about the forums, Holonet news should provide this in an easily, informative way. For those new to the forum we have the Welcome office, where all the basic forum guidelines and general welcome for those new can be found without having to sift through the wealth of old news. We hope that this new system will be much more comprehensible and user friendly, and that you will find it much better than previously. Darkmark
  25. Been there before. Firewalls love to do that I noticed the purple AT-AT there Ghostly, but from the screenshot below it looks fine. I like it in purple though. Very bight and intimidating.
