  1. Hey Tofu, maybe you should spend less time at others' graduation ceremonies (per your own I think I hold the record for... thread), and hyping on Mad (in the WOOHOOO!!!! thread), when you could use that time more efficiently in a spelling class of your own!! I have no idea; what is a "gradation" party? 2? or did you mean "too" muc? like in "muck"? Oh, you meant "much" BEAK'd Does anyone see the irony in this? (the pot calling the kettle black )
  2. Hey Def, you just built the Galatica, or at least the SW version of it. Got a little BSG on the brain Now is this timeline the Empire won at Endor or not, because I'm hearing talk about the original DS still being around? OK, the most plausible explanation for the Empire: the rebels built the original DS at attack Imperial worlds and destroyed Aldeeran. The Imperial Navy tracked down the rebel DS to their hidden base on Yavin IV. A stalwart attack by Imperial forces destroyed (see alternate theory below) the DS, but with heavy losses (list some of those stationed on the DS, and added some capital ship names. Have several capital ships "renamed" to add plausability). Then the Empire has to build thier own DS to counter any other possible rebel DS. The Imperial DS is based on the rebel DS plans, but with major improvements due to superior Imperial engineering skills. If the original DS it still around, then it was captured by the Imperial forces, and is being occupied/repaired by the Imperial Navy due to sabotage and such from rebel forces during the Imperial attack.
  3. Hey GAT! Long time no ... type? Whatever; it's good to see you around again With all of the CGI special effects, almost any of Spidey's villians would be "neat to see". It's whether or not the plot/script will be good
  4. That's what happens when you eat too many beans when sitting by the campfire!
  5. Or, how about this ... [didn't really happen] Raging at Corran's choice Kyp opened himself more fully to the force than he ever had before. Reaching out he felt the life forms inside the two remaining asteroid bases and the flow of energy that had to be their reactors. Reaching out he closed his hand arround one of the reactors and the life signs inside the base were suddenly snuffed out. Opening his eyes he saw one of the asteroids explode excessively, vaporizing it. The large stockpile of ammunition and explosives on the base simultaneously detonated within milliseconds of the base reactor, exponentially increasing the destructive force. The explosive shockwave shattered all the asteroids in the vicinity, including the other Imperial base and all Tie craft returning from the battle. Multiple sized fragments of asteroid debris hurled at amazing speeds in all directions. Many fragments near hypervelocity shredded through the fleeing Rebel forces. Most of the older fighters took severe damage, while any that had previous battle damage simply ceased to exist. A larger piece of debris struck the Fastblast cracking the ship in two like a large egg. Atomsphere vented from the open sections of the interior, as power failed throughout the ship leaving a cold dead testament of the supposedly "victorious" rebels. The life of those on board started to fade as life support systems failed. Kyp was dazed at what just happened. One moment he was a hero of the Rebellion defeating Imperial tyranny; now he had inadvertantly killed most of his comrades. Corran was the first to speak, "Kyp what on the Emperor's black bones did you just do?". The previous rebel victory turned surreal. "Kyp, take your fighter and go. Never contact us again, ever. If we want your help ...". Corran couldn't finish his thought. "All hyperspace capable craft prepare to jump; everybody else ... hang loose until we can return with help. May the Force be with you." For he knew the chances of help arriving, or them surviving were close to null. The Rebel force jumped to hyperspace leaving the surviving pilots to slowly die in the depths of space. Kyp stayed behind not knowing what to do, or even where to go.[/dramatic parody] [/didn't really happen] I didn't cheat either; I just "toned down" the GGMW polish It was still a good post Def . I'm sure eventually the Rebs will get what's coming to them
  6. My? Don't you mean "May"? BEAK'd Actually, anything you post causes all rationally intelligent people to cringe Tofu, and all others to cry ... in agony
  7. OK, I have made a bit of progress. So I guess I could share what I have accomplished to date ... New sector names and locations ... http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/5686/modifiedgalaxysectorski2.th.jpg Sector importance ... http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/3431/modifiedgalaxyimportancpk3.th.jpg and finally, sectors per galaxy size ... http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/1449/modifiedgalaxygamesizeci9.th.jpg I'm not quite done tweaking the "importance" and "game size" info just yet, but for the most part it's practically done. My next task is to work on all of the system names (there's only 200 of them, and some will be recycled ).
  8. He may even take summer vacation in Texas. Oh wait, that's Verdex I have some good hideouts down here Mitth
  9. Yee Haw Rob! Well I sure am happy for ya. I guess I can unpack the chuckwagon and put the Peacemaker away I didn't really want to go to California anyway (there's way too many "blue" people out there).
  10. Oh, that show I only saw parts of a couple of episodes. Didn't really get into it at the time. 90210 and a Cosby kid wander around in the post apocalyptic era
  11. I would like to see the rebels bite off more than they can chew. Maybe this could be that time? Hopefully the extra Ties coming in can whittle down the rebel fighters en mass. OK, so maybe the Wraiths escape (or most of them). But if they lost more than they took, that would make me happy I just hate the way it's starting to look (GGMW: good guys must win ). Good post Def!
  12. In my opinion, rebel guerrilla forces suck (as you probably already know ). Also, depleting the your enemies resources (and hopefully yours in the future) doesn't really endear the populace to your cause. Your sabotage missions on mines/refineries just rack up unemployment figures, making the Empire the perfect benefactor. Stop that! Invade the systems and keep 7 (not the minimum 6) troops on each planet and start diplomacy. Some diplomats are better than others, and some planets are easier than others (regardless of the diplomat). Since you've invaded Coruscant, don't abandon it; that's just a sign of weakness and definitely shows you don't give a gnat's ass about the populace (that's why Imperial support keeps growing) When you take over a planet, plan on keeping it forever. Now, as for the Emperor and Darth Vader escaping ... the worst possible scenario Start mass producing Bothan spies and hit every Imperial system in the galaxy. If you're lucky you'll get a hit. If the Jedi can hide after the Great Purge, Palpy and Darth won't have a problem either. Good Luck .... (you'll need it now)
  13. All of these are from the Babylon 5 series: Narn Regime League of Non-Aligned Worlds Centauri Republic Earth Alliance Minbari Federation
  14. But Rob, you need more villians (you can never have too many villians ). Somehow then need to shoe-horn in The Rhino and The Vulture (two classic villians from way back in the day ) Too bad Kingpin and Doc Doom have already been "used" by previous superhero flicks Oh, and I forgot about Mysterio
  15. JH, what have you done to your avatar? Quite good!
  16. What's Jeremiah? Ever hear of "cross winds"? I sat in the cockpit of a Saudi prince's VIP 737 coming into Cairo during the "windy season". Quite interesting; on approach to the left runway, we were aiming directly for a 747 ready for takeoff on the right runway. The "cross winds" put us directly over the left runway when the pilot and co-pilot started cursing each other out about the landing. Apparently each had a different "approach" to landing in cross winds, and didn't inform the other of "their plans". I wasn't sure if we were going to land in one piece; either the plane was going to crash, or the pilot/co-pilot were going to come to blows and then we would crash Everything was OK after that
  17. As I'm buildilng up the Imperial Navy to battle rebel ships, I'm continually harassing their systems by sabotaging facilities, troops, fighters, defenses and spec forces. The rebel command structure and personnel are taking quite a beating also: Chewbacca & Mazer Rackus captured on Corsin. Princess Leia captured trying to run a blockade on Corsin. Page captured trying to rescue Princess Leia on Coruscant. Han Solo captured while recruiting on Charmath. Luke Skywalker captured doing diplomacy on Phraetiss. Roget Jiriss captured attempting to incite an uprising on Palanhi. Orrimaarko captured trying to rescue Roget Jiriss. Borsk Fey'lya assassinated on Ketaris. Vanden Willard assassinated doing diplomacy on Denab. Talon Karrde assassinated doing diplomacy on Sarka. Wedge Antilles assassinated doing research on Khomm. Adar Tallon injured doing research on Khomm. I know where everybody else is except for a lucky few. Where are you Mon Mothma? I have nice sector fleets coming together in the Sesswenna (2 ISD's, 1 Dreadnaught & 6 Lancers) and Dolomar (1 Vic SD, 1 Dreadnaught & 4 Lancers) sectors. The sector fleet in the Sluis sector is coming along slowly (1 Carrack, 1 Lancer & 2 Escort Carriers), and there are no ships available for Imperial systems in the Fakir sector (I'm not counting the "dead" Vic SD at Delaya). I have 1 Dreadnaught & a Galleon blockading Commenor. I have a Carrack blockading Phraetiss in the Farfin sector. The rebels haven't even tried to run me off, so I'm using my ships as "base of operations". I have 4 Noghri, 4 espionage droids & 8 commandos raiding throughout the Farfin sector, and only 2 espionage droids at Commenor . The largest rebel fleet to date tried to break my blockade at Corsin in the Sesswenna sector. I had an ISD plus 6 Lancers waiting for the 5 medium transports, 5 Corellian corvettes and 3 (loaded) escort carriers. I sacrificed 3 Tie Fighters and 3 Tie Interceptors to destroy 4 Y-wings, 5 X-wings and damage 5 other X-wings, before the rebel scum ran off. They have visited the rebel system Caprionril and are now enroute to Sluis Van. The rebels have 5 Corellian corvettes and a mix of A-wings & X-wings on station there. I tried a quick attack on their forces, but lost 8 Tie Bombers & 4 Tie Interceptors to their losing 6 X-wings, and damaging half of the remaining A-wings & X-wings. When my Carrack lost shields I withdrew. I need more fire power!! The rebels have the entire Farfin sector; most of the Fakir sector (1 Imperial & 1 neutral system); and 2 systems in each of the Sesswenna, Dolomar, & Sluis sectors; and 3 systems in the Corellian sector. I haven't even tried to explore the Outer Rim yet. I have all remaining systems in the Sesswenna & Sluis sectors; the majority of the Dolomar sector (1 Neutral & 2 rebel systems); and half the Corellian sector. I'm building up facilities in the Dolomar & Sluis sectors, and doing diplomacy in the Corellian sector. My only MAJOR shipyard is at Ghorman (Sesswenna sector) producing ISD's ... as many as possible I'm only on day 360, so I have a long way to go. But, slow is fun
  18. Excellent post Def. It seems you have a couple of good plot lines running
  19. I love that line, Tex. Did you save after each hundred days, or just at the beginning so as to go back to the same day for each test? To clarify: did each test start on, say, Day 40? Or was the first on 40, second on 140, etc.? Each version I tested started on the same day. After the 100 days, I did NOT save the game, just reloaded the same game aft running RebEd. After all of this testing, I reloaded the game and went back to my usual pummeling of rebel scum
  20. OOC: If you don't mind, I'd like an advance copy
  21. OOC: I thought Mitth was going to post about some more of his training, then I was going to follow up with the end of his training. But, it doesn't matter to me, other than these two (supposed) posts happen days before your post Paul. They could be done as a retrospective though Whatever, I'm game
  22. It left me feeling thirsty ... now where is my water bottle? Great job Krytos! I wish I could do stuff like that. But you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks ... we fall asleep before we can finish the new trick
  23. That looks good Def, especially for your NSO posts. Now all you have to do if find a nice volunteer to 3D model it with some textures, then we could all possibly use it in Rebellion
  24. Well, as for my Vic, to keep the game on the straight and narrow, I didn't save any changes. It was for experimental testing purposes only. I just wish I knew exactly which day it was fixed. Then I could extrapolate the real fix date (which is probably hundreds of days away). More than likely I'm going to scrap it as soon as I get another ship in that sector. It's basically an unarmed Golan platform blockading a rebel system (I'm surprised the AI has sent its mass rebel fleet to break the blockade?). It's just a raw number from some impromptu testing. Maybe if there was an admiral on board things would be different (do repairs go better when an admiral is barking orders at officers about their repair crews?). Although I doubt this "old dog" of a program can take too many other factors into account when determining things, I know my imagination definitely fills in lots of gaps in the programming (or lack thereof)
  25. Excellent post Def. This is new material right?
