Close but no cigar Although graphically it looks like it works, there is an inherent error in the method A guy at the office sent this around

Just an update: I nailed down that hyperspace flux capacitor hickup in the thingy-ma-bob when the dohickey thing is cross connected. In other words, I fixed the variance within the calculations and believe I have a 100% hyperspace correct travel spreadsheet Now, I'm not going to be 100% sure as I'm not going to check ~20 thousand system combinations, but those I did have problems on have all worked out. If there's a way, maybe I can send this to Evaders to get posted in the downloads section? That's if anybody is interested, that is

Yeah! Did you know that James Arness (the marshall Matt Dillion from Gunsmoke) played the thing? I bet you didn't, but you know now Wait one horny toad moment, you're talking about the 1982 re-make with Kurt Russell and not the original made in 1951! that one was OK too

You young whipper-snappers out there! Can any of you lend a hand? There's got to be a couple of computer savy folks out there that should know about proxy servers and such If not, well ... nevermind Just a thought -

I didn't have any problem replacing the Corellian gunship models with the Golan III Defense Platform models. Everything worked fine for me -
Attention US/World Populace: Prepare To Run For Your Lives
DarthTex replied to Darth_Rob's topic in Outside Interests
That would have been some sight to see Dang, it's now confirmed, my hopes are crushed I understand what you're saying J. I think part of the problem is the way the word "liberal" is used at each location (London vs US). Over here, I believe that too many (political) people are more worried about making a "name" for themselves than really worrying about whatever topic they're harping on. Some times, correction, most of the time politics suck. And over here we get a LARGE dose of it every 4 years. Unfortunately, we (the US) don't have anyone person to rise about the "crap" and just speak on the issues (without lots of secret political manueverings). I'm just waiting for that one person that's NOT part of a political machine to run (more than likely as an independent), that really has a solid chance to win So, I'll sit back, watch the antelope play (or just the deer), watch the tumbleweeds roll on by, and stare at the sunset until it's time ... PS J gets to see otters everyday, SOCL gets to see Red Pandas everyday, I get to see deer everyday -
OK, I have just about finished messing around with the SYSTEMSD.DAT file, and had a wild idea hit me. With the data in hand, I created a spreadsheet to calculate the travel time from any system in the galaxy to anyother system. I've only spot checked several dozen of the possible thousands of combinations and it seems pretty dead on. I will say it's not fool proof as there are a couple of combinations that were +/- 1 day off. Since I don't have the exact formula used by Rebellion, but it seems pretty obvious I got that nailed, I think my problem has to do with rounding and precision (more than likely too much precision considering the age of the game ) I'll keep posting updates as they become available.

Yeah, what budious said. You have the maintanence to build whatever it is you need, but don't have the "parts" sitting around waiting to be assembled. You're building too many things concurrently for the supplies you have on hand. Get used to it, it's part of the game. Later in the game, when you're tired to building lots of stuff because you darn near control everything, the refined materials will start stacking up in huge numbers.

I use IE and don't have any problems at all. It's gotta be operator error

Tofu, you change your avatar almost as many times as a woman changes her mind ... almost. But by far, that is the most horrendous avatar you have ever used! All children, decent people and those who are still sane beware!! http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/8208/smugshotxs7.th.jpg Keep up the good work Def!!

Fighter totals: 8 total in combination or 4 per side?
DarthTex replied to Kesserendrel's topic in RebED Cards
You can make the fighter change (5 vs 3) in RebEd, but BEWARE!! RebEd warns you that more than likely the program will crash in the tactical battle phase (where you change over to the fleet & fighter onscreen combat), but it should work for immediate results pick. If you can't see your special hand picked fighters in the tactical battle, then why bother changing them in the first place I would suggest sticking to the 4 vs 4 format and if you want the Z-95, eliminate the A-wing (you said you wanted to keep the B-wing) Good Luck! -
No problem there Def. Thanks for the post; quite invigorating!

Good news for the Alliance players! (Maybe)
DarthTex replied to The_LandoStander's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys Hopefully budious or Paul will share their (maintenance) secrets with the rest of us? -
That would be labor intensive and quite expensive Rob. The gov't has other specialized programs to waste taxpayer money @Paul: I thought you might have pulled the ol' cherry bomb in the mailbox trick myself But you're correct: Grand Moff's are not thieves ... maybe extortionists, embezzlers, etc. but definitely NOT common thieves Imperial training is very impecible about those things

You can change it on the mine and refinery options of RebEd. OK, I'll bite: where? I've never seen it, and when I just now looked couldn't find it It's not the production rates, I've changed those before and it didn't change the maintenance points. Please let me know! PS: Post number 1000!! I'm a Grand Admiral now! Yee Haw!! -
Def, thank you for re-posting your stories (with a little constant nagging from me Sorry about that ). I vaguely remember these early parts, and they are just as exciting as reading them for the first time . Keep the installments coming!!

Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed .... dana nana nana nana, dana nana nana nana BATMAN!! I'll get to J (I hope), it's just a matter of time. I've been exploring the SECTORSD.DAT file lately with some small discoveries. Next is the SYSTEMSD.DAT file My google image search of "Imperial Commandos" turned up six SWR members! Jedi Igor, Trej, JediHunter (2x), Grand Moff Conway, adthrawn, and some guy named LordJerec (with a whoppin' 3 posts in early November 2006). Plus a couple of images of Rebellion including J's updated commando card (and myriads of somehow related "crap" ). -

50 pts per pair. Use the galaxy status to get the counts of each and build accordingly. Keep in mind that build times will sag if you do not have a stockpile of refined materials on hand. This is where raiding can play an important part in Rebellion, capturing a planet, sacking it, demolish structures and collect the refined materials, and abandon it can bolster your military build-up early in the game. Note of caution when using the galaxy status: this also includes mines and refineries under construction. So you will not get the maintenance until the mine/refinery is actually delivered to its destination @Budious: yes that option works, but it has a "negative impact" on neutral systems and drops support for your side on enemy systems. Of course if you just plan to wipe out every system in the sector (maybe even your own), then it doesn't matter. Otherwise have large garrisons and some diplomats standing by I've always wondered if the 50 maintenance points per mine/refinery pair is "hard coded" into the program, or is hiding away in one of the data files as something to be modified -

your first modem was a 14.4 with Windows 3.11 You don't realize how nice you had it at the time Before PC's there were mainframe's and 100 baud acoutical modems (that's a 0.1 modem where you had to manually dial your phone, then plug the receiver end of your phone into a modem that looked like the bottom end of a phone), and all of that just to get on Telnet Graphics didn't exist except for those creative fella's who could make "pictures" using the letters of the alphabetic and the special characters. According to your defintion, I'm a first generation player as well; therefore your demands for "bows to expertise" have fallen on deaf ears (one of the benefits of getting old, selective hearing ) But back to other points not entirely related to the subject: If there is global warming, why are Rob and Paul (up in the North Ease US) getting so much snow? Why did the Global Warming expedition to the North Pole cancel their trek when one of the scientists got frostbite? Seems like an oxymoron to me (And no Tofu, I wasn't mentioning anything about you this time). Is anybody worried that the Atlantic Ocean is getting wider by approximately 1 inch a year, the Sahara desert is getting wider, the Pacific Ocean is getting smaller, and that Hawaii will one day be off the coast of Pacific Russia? This is one crazy planet
