  1. Good luck JI, I'm in my second year of Uni and most of the time it's a breeze - until I remember about the project due in the next day and stay up all night doing it As for text books . . . I only used them first semester, since then lecture notes all the way. Cheap and they tell you pretty much all you need (unless you've got a really lazy lecturer). But if you want textbooks, second hand is the only way to go when a book costs around $100 per subject . . . bloody rediculous. So I guess Amazon might work (never used it myself), other wise there should be some second hand bookshop around that sells the text books. Around my Uni there's a few as well as one run by the uni itself.
  2. Awesome, as usual SM. No complaints here, I like your writing style and your new universe you've added to Star Wars
  3. Hmm, it's kind of strange that lately people have been having problems with Rebellion and XP. I've got it installed on two computers, both running XP and they run fine, and neither have had anything special changed in Window's setup. Xaph, I hope you get it running, though just out curiosity what are some stats about your computer such as CPU, graphics card, drivers etc. - I'm beginning to wonder whether the problem lies elsewhere . . . Still, the Windows compatibility mode should help, and with any luck rectify the problem post haste.
  4. Hmm, I'll get onto feeding the Vong cruiser - he'll have a bear belly in no time Anywho, here's it with textures though non-bloated: http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/3242/matalok013hy.th.jpghttp://img374.imageshack.us/img374/7571/matalok034nx.th.jpg http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/9214/matalok048qj.th.jpghttp://img374.imageshack.us/img374/3677/matalok059yi.th.jpg http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/3532/matalok060ye.th.jpg http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/7105/matalok023gu.jpg I'll release this model soon and create a "fatter" version as well. And following the off-topic part, I started carrying a camera around as well to take photos of clouds (which generally come out bad if done poorly due to over exposure) . . . only ever took a few, and never of the best one's - like one that looked like a Corellian Corvette. Oh well . . .
  5. songs from Nine Inch Nails live which I saw last night - bloody unreal!!!!! !!!!!! Best concert ever
  6. Interesting name What's the song about
  7. I changed topics since your previous post had mentiond the numbers of MC-80b Cruisers in that book ass well. So I was just presenting an explanation on how so many cruisers of that type could be arround. The KDY Republic class cruiser and the Mon Cal Cruiser series are two very ship types. Mabey I'm just being confused by your wording. OK. Model looks fantastic! The textures look hashy from the RebEd view but it does that to any ship that I load. But that has to be one of the highest res models I've seen in Rebellion before. I'm gonna go crash my computer with a 400 ship fleet battle now. Next Request: A Yuuzhan Vong Matalok Cruiser. (I know, slave driver. ) Ok, some clarrifications (because Star Wars EU is filled with many, many holes). It appears as if the New Republic likes to re-use the same names over and over again . . . The Defender class Star Destroyer, the Defender class Star Fighter and the Defender class Assault Carrier for example. This model was of the Republic class Star Destroyer built by Rendeli Star Drive and introduced around 10-15 years after the Battle of Yavin ie. shortly before the Black Fleet Crisis. There is also a Republic class Cruiser built by KDY and also only introduced during the NJO series (seen in both Star by Star and Destiny's Way), though there aren't any official stats or images of it. However the ship's description in the novels lends itself towards being, capability wise, simular to an Mon Cal cruiser. Secondly, glad you liked the model - and good luck with crashing your computer
  8. Or he got it off the foreign covers at theforce.net... Jap covers look better than the standard US ones. Bingo! I'm in Australia for starters, and only speak english (though I can speak some words in Italian and Indonesian thanks to compolsary LOTE lessons at school). And it's generally pretty bad english. As for the pic, it's from theforce.net's book section, foreign cover and Japanese cover in particular. It's only a small crop because the original image was 12 something meg. Hmm, that rock idea has merit EDIT: Well, my group needed me to show off some modelling trials - as if I were learning something - for a project. So what better than a really, bloody ugly and weird looking thing to create from scratch. So model done, textures to come http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/3874/matalok017lm.th.jpghttp://img295.imageshack.us/img295/7805/matalok038zd.th.jpg http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/9323/matalok044zf.th.jpghttp://img295.imageshack.us/img295/3860/matalok057fj.th.jpg http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/2772/matalok027ku.jpg
  9. Well, I'm busy and most of my spare time will be going towards Reloaded so I'll sit this one out (though this is one of the ships on my "To do list" ) For those interested, here's an image of one hiding behind Leia's head. http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/5824/onslaught2ig.th.jpg
  10. First and foremost, the ship is ready: Here The Republic class Cruiser isn't the one from the Episode I (which has another name, can't remember it though). It's described as being 1 km long, and used extensively in battle during the NJO. There's a scene where one gets destroyed over Coruscant in Star by Star. Not much is known about it, apart from it's length and that it's KDY (if memory serves me right). Weaponary isn't known either, though you get the idea that it's a mass production verion of an MC80b - something in that order of firepower. Nothing special, though a good ship that could act as the backbone of a fleet.
  11. I've been watching RvB since the first season, and love it. Granted there's the occational boring episode, but the majority is exellent! Can't wait for Season 4! !
  12. From personal experience, I found Maya to have some better features than Max and, like wise, some worse. As for the Renderer though - for my entire class it was crap, for a whole semester and on multiple platforms - every render was litered with different artifacts from poor quality, jaggered raytraced shadows to model artifacts with flat sides on high poly or NURB spheres that simply shouldn't have been there. I seemed to have simular problems at home as well (so it wasn't the computers being used), as well as Maya had a tendancy to throw an error or crash for no reason (Yeah Max does the same, but 9 times out of 10 you can predict when it's going to happen). Here's an example of an image created in Maya by me, I've circled two of the trouble areas. One shows how the shadow projected onto the sphere's surface has several hard/straight edges even though casted by another sphere. The second shows a section of the sphere that is flat, and shouldn't be. There are other things in the scene (not including the blur effect which was disappointing - however, you could probably use the Mental Ray version instead) that are screwed as well, and these are annoying glitches that aren't at any fault of the model. Now with a plugin like Mental Ray (which is available for Max and comes with it intergrated in versions 6, 7 and or Renderman that might be different, though from what I could see the default renderer was pretty poor.
  13. OOC: Yeah, better to rap it up when it's good then when it's dead . . . oh wait I had ideas for this RPG - though it seems like our oponents have just disappeared all together Oh well, any way you want this to end?
  14. Hmm, I could have sworn those were Republic class Cruisers in Destiny's Way As for the Mc80 incedent, a lot of people found that weird and a while ago I went looking for some info on that and found a responce on theforce.net's forums This is the link to where I originally got it -they also bring up some very good points in their discussions (ok, not all of them ) so you might want to read through some of it . . . only some, because those guys never stop talking - that's page 187 of that particular topic : http://boards.theforce.net/Literature/b10003/11918689/p187 Update on the ship, almost finished - she's textured and ingame after fixing some really weird bugs that were probably brought on by my flu - now I get some weird stuff happening with the textures though, where they get huge blue splotches on them
  15. I've seen it too, though not on TV yet One of the best ads I've ever seen I love it
  16. Nice work Trej! ! http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/8210/fireworks2rt.gif Happy 5000th post
  17. I had a simular problem a few weeks ago where I tried to change my sig and it would take me to a blank page. Works now, I assumed that E99 worked his magic and fixed it . . .
  18. The Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia seems to have practically everything to date, both from the movies as well as the EU - just use their search function - you'll be sure to find what you're looknig for like the info on Bevel etc. That article on Star Wars and Religion reminded me of uni the other week, where some Christian group was holding a meeting called "What's with the Force?" and a whole lot of other crap like that. If I didn't have class I would have gone just for a good laugh
  19. Hey, N3C!!! Long time no see mate
  20. The Wreckless Wonderer's drives were at full power, pushing the craft through the vast emptiness of space and past her enemies. Karn's heart lept from its chest as a turbolaser blast shattered the armour on the starboard side of his ship. "Helm, roll the ship and get the damage side of the ship out of harm's way!" They were cutting it close. Surrounded by enemies, the only way out came when a near by Rebel task force had jumped in system. Now it was a race against time to reach that task force and safety. Though that was easier said than done, Karn's frigate was in extremely bad shape. With the battering the frigate had recieved, the shield generator had overloaded, the armour on the hull had been all but ripped apart and the ship was now pocketed with hull breaches and many dead. The fighters that had come to help the frigate earlier where now a shadow of their former self. Sweat continued to bead down his face as the ship continued to run for freedom. Kre'nel had barely moved in the last few minutes since they had begun their run for freedom. When the sensors on the sip worked, Karn could see that Ulic was flying his heart out in an attempt to keep his much smaller freighter in one peice. "Hang in their Ulic, two minutes until we're safe . . . two minutes." Karn felt sick at the words. 2 minutes! He didn't know if the ship would survive even half that
  21. OOC: I'm here, though I was waiting for the enemy to do something
  22. Just wondering who still plays KoC? I rarely get the time or remember to play it lately Which has resulted in me getting attacked a lot
  23. I've got no idea for this one either, perhaps one of the more senior and experienced members will know? Try PMing . . . hmm, who? Mask is models and general modding - so he might know. Other than that you can always try trial and error
  24. Cool, any pics yet? Well, I am trying to think of a better name than A-Wing mk III that follows along the lines of other untis in Star Wars - like the XJ X-Wing, Series 4 E-Wing etc. Though Super A is definetly the fighters nickname now As for the B-Wing . . . there are a few out there (and official). There's the B-Wing E/1 and E/2 - the E/2 which is a 2 seater version, with significantly stronger shields and hull, holds more torps and has more powerful lasers and is a little faster. Then there's the DeathRaven http://www.wizards.com/starwars/images/sotg_gallery/40147_GS.jpg Stronger shields again, faster than the E/2, quad assault lasers, 8 light ion cannons, 4 torp launchers with 10 shots each. However, this is a unique ship (ok, there are a few and they can be remade from the hulls of two E/2s) used by a rich merc, with contacts in the NR. Show and tell us more, you must
  25. I'd suggest violence as a last resort - it's prone to back firing after all. Jahled's got the right idea, if the guy is teasing a lot of people and the staff wont do anything about it, get in contact with your parents (and get the other people being teased to do the same) to deal with it. Ganging up on him, in my opinion, is a last resort because of a few things - 1) you stoop to a level of bullying yourself (not that he doesn't deserve it), 2) The bully will try to seak revenge by getting his own friends (assuming he has some) together and beating you up individually and 3) you can be the one getting in trouble even though he's the one being the bully because you dealt with it yourself. In my experiece, the only time when violence has stopped bullying is when you get so sick of it, you snap and beat the crap out of the bully. That will stop it, though people generally treat you different . . . especially if you do it a few times
