  1. Really? So the AT-AP, ISP, Venator and Acclamator was it? Those four and nothing more? Aww... :/ Strange, in my emails to them, they seemed to hint at more they couldn't talk about.
  2. Ask about the AT-TE, UT-AT, AT-OT and AT-RT if possible. Those were my only questions, anyway. ;D
  3. Don't tell me it's been cancelled. Again. -__-
  4. Ah, I see.
  5. There will be a continuous update on the forum as the answers pile on, right? For those who can't make it?
  6. As always: Will there be AT-TE, UT-AT, AT-OT or AT-HEs in the game?
  7. I personally liked the Tarkin, due to its enormous ISD-esque command-tower.
  8. I believe the number of Imperial ships was doubled in-between ANH and ESB, according to some sources. The political fallout from Yavin probably meant the Empire needed to do a show of strength to prove its power. Can't remember if this was just ISDs or all kinds of warships, though.
  9. Actually, the films crews have always taken technical details and measurements seriously to be as consistent as possible. If the HO is shown to be consistently bigger than all other classes in the film, it's for a reason. Sadly, film crews do not participate in the making of factbooks (other than production diaries) and therefore we've been getting third-party input who hasn't been doing their homework. You may not care, and that's fine, but for us who do, there's a slight problem when the HO (or any other similar-looking ship) is presented as having the same size as all the "regular" Mon Cal cruisers. If this game will attempt to make it bigger, then I applaud them for that. And once again, Lucas does not care for factbooks unless he's specifically asked about anything. He doesn't approve every single thing that can be found in these things.
  10. Exactly. After a revision was done. Which is what is needed sometimes to deal with inconsistencies.
  11. That's the word, movie timeline. Lots of things happening in that time than on just the movie worlds.
  12. All of the movies planets, I reckon. Plus the more famous EU ones. Wayland's in, as well as Ryloth. Mon Calamari should be in as well, and Dantooine.
  13. English isn't my first language, so I don't understand what they mean by "platform edge" and "platform base". Is it something like this: http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a242/CptK/moncaldoor.jpg Thus warranting a compromise between lengths? Or an intermediate?
  14. Nice. I've seen other film-models being studied on the Tech Commentaries-site, but I forgot about the Home One-model. Hmm, instead of a compromise length, wouldn't it be better to follow the length by using the edge of the platform? (If this covers the exit from wall to wall, that is.) Or is it a case of "interior floor goes past the hangar-opening, while the exit floor doesn't cover the entire exit-length" so they had to compromise?
  15. So, we're gonna get a slightly revamped official site with new info? Maybe even unit-lists?
  16. Yep, the '8000m' came from WEG-sources primarily. Can't remember if anyone wrote it before that, but WEG-derived information definitely dominated the EU scene before the Millennium-shift. Not to say they didn't bring anything good to the SW universe (I love most of the vehicles they added), they just flubbed dimensions and weapons-capabilities for movie-vehicles and kept things minimalistic. More often than not, the latter was due to the RPG-conflicts they described being small-scale ones. Unfortunately, "small-scale" became the norm almost every time someone would describe, say, fleet-battles in a book. It became so bad, in recent times I've had to debate people who put their fingers in their ears every time someone mentions ships bigger than ISDs, yet smaller than Executors. And that the Executors are destroyers (which they can't be, due to difference in both size and weaponry). Furthermore, they're very eager to defend "old-school" EU and use 'SSD' for anything bigger than an ISD (as if a full size-spectrum of warships would occupy the same functions and belong to the same group.)
  17. If AOTC and ROTS is any indication, lightsabres protect their wielders by absorbing Force Lightning, at least.
  18. The only original statement provided by members of the film crew was that Vader's command ship was meant to be eleven times bigger than an ordinary destroyer. Since they had made them out to be "a mile long" each (1609m), this meant that it would be approx. 17699m long. With measurements done for ESB and ROTJ (most notably by Curtis Saxton), the size was determined to be between 17000m (the most conservative estimate) and 19000m (the most extreme). Turns out Lucasfilm liked 19000m the best when putting the size in the ITW:OT. With the film-measurements allowing for that number, the case was finally settled and even the slow-updating Official Site (run by Pablo Hidalgo, a former WEG-employee. Hmmm, no bias there, no Siree. ) changed its profile.
  19. First of all, its 1-6. Second of all, nothing in the films say anything about lengths and what you've just been writing. Third of all, things can change (and have changed) from book to book, and Lucas doesn't really care about all that (which is why he delegates these matters to other people). If we followed the books without checking other sources, we'd have that Vader was decapitated and killed right after Yavin (from Splinter of the Mind's Eye).
  20. The hidden fleet of Dreadnaught-class cruisers would be fun to find, but I doubt they've been included in the game. As for the OP, combining information from old and new sources have shown that the AT-AT, AT-ST, AT-PT, 74-Z speeder bikes, TX-130T fighter tank, HAVw A5 and A6 Juggernauts, Acclamator-class Assault Ships, Victory-class Star Destroyers and Dreadnaught-class cruisers were designs that participated in the Clone Wars. With the inclusion of Venator-class Star Destroyers and AT-AP walkers in EAW (as well as any other unit that isn't used by the Rebels), we have quite alot of designs still being used 20-30 years after first being seen. Since the SW universe appears technologically stagnant at this time (apart from superlaser-technology), it seems pretty reasonable that most weapons-systems would see use for far longer than is usual on present-day Earth. Take the Acclamator, for instance. What would really make it obsolete compared to an Imperator? They're two different designs for two different purposes. One is a military transport with heavy firepower that can land on planets and deploy a massive force. The other is a destroyer/cruiser/carrier hybrid that can only stay in space, but is more dedicated towards ship-to-ship combat. One doesn't have to be retired in the face of the other.
  21. Written words mean little if they're not well-researched. All those pages simply re-iterate WEG and other RPG sources, which did not do a good job at finding their numbers. Scaling has proven more successful than just guessing a number and putting it in a book, and coupled with quotes from film crew, they built a better case for the Executor-lenght, which led to it getting a written length more in tune with the films and the film-crew's intentions. Hopefully, one day the HO size will follow suit, if it hasn't done so in a source already.
  22. The interview will pmost likely not come before the chat tomorrow. They said they were working on it, but apparently they are more at work with the game itself (which is a good thing). You'll either have to avoid asking the same questions tomorrow or just ignore the interview to begin with and use the chat. .)
  23. Was Ackbar in command of it at the time of the battle? If not, it might just prove a secondary ship of that type. And guys, knock it off. An RPG source that contradicts the movies (ergo what we see on-screen) is wrong. It's as simple as that. The Executor was 8000m according to RPG books for decades, then they made it out to be 12000m as a "compromise" between the arguing factions. Now, finally even the OS has made it 19000m, like the ITW:OT did last year. This is all due to people scaling it in the actual film (as well as looking at the film when ISDs pass by it and seeing that it can't be just 5 times bigger) and proving their points to the people in charge. Nothing that can't be done for the Home One as well. Scaling shows its between 3000-3800m? Then that trumps book sources, which are the ones you're all quoting. If you're interested in having numbers in SW, go out and learn about scaling and measurements if you want to disprove the HO length.
  24. To be fair, a ship the size of the DS would still need a good few hits from two ISDs before actually keeling over, even if it had zero guns. And I wasn't saying Home One was a genuine class-name, only a provisional one for a group of distinct ships, like the Home One and the Independence. I'd still reckon the additional shielding on the Home One would give it a slight edge on a single ISD, if only to contribute to the depletion of the destroyer's ammunition.
  25. I remember the SD in ANH being called Devestator somewhere. Then there were some "battlecruisers" of undetermined class.
