Well, normal service has been resumed...and layout.... but did any of you guys experiance the reason I got so mad; internet crashing and constant 'error reporting,' to MS? No problems now. Wierd whatever Evaders said caused the problem could shag my computer so harshly...

Yet more crap posted by Jahled in his titanic struggle to get to 2000 posts and become a Jedi Knight! Well over a year to get to a thousand; half the time I can't think of anything to say anyway....mutter...gibber....grunt....

WOO! Go on give us a hint!
-
Fair be Scathe, that should have occured to me but didn't! New suggestion folks: Let Scathe deal with his man!

Woo! One shut down and error report to post a reply. I'm up for that, but given the problems we have my friend with the subject matter; a game that's six years old, completely unsupported by Lucas Arts, and quite frankly completely slated by the gamming industry as a whole, how far do you reckon we're going to get attracting new blood/casual observers by charging them to participate in our community? Think about it dude! The last time a member of the Key Staff raised the issue of raising money was Stormfront, who completely failed to explain why. The owner didn't know why either when I asked him. So I figured Stormfront was requesting funds for completely non-site related interests, which seriously angered me, given out of loyalty to the site I was equiped with my credit card. He can respond now, given he ignored my simple requests of why I would be donating a day's wage to the site... I was not impressed.

Ok, this has now gone beyond a very bad joke. I have had this evening now beyond twelve Microsoft error reports and internet shut downs whilst on this site. I am fumming and getting mad. I am not getting shut downs strolling around on other sites. Only here. Kill this stupid banner crap now, newbies are going to have one look and go away, existing members such as me might just think this site isn't run very well and grow tired with all these pop ups shagging me as i'm trying to click here and there.... When i'm done with ten hours in central London on a bike, i'll edit my language score, but the intention is there, this banner shit is the worst thing I have ever seen here. Remove it. All it will do is piss people off and loose active contributers. Not clever. Badly executed.

Cool to hear Mask, but haven't you guys taken my and Scathe's efforts as a cue to attempt to contact Lucas Arts yourselves? I, as a complete computing-fool, have had the absolutely one-inch-of-the-ground-blip of success in being replied to by an employee of Lucas Arts who has now dried up. Couldn't/should't you guys join the crusade? As far as employees goes, I can't imagine the office space recieving our communication is that big! Enough thoughtfully worded communications from us requesting info on Rebellion is going to start them muttering to them selves about the sudden flux. I guess they must all drink at the same bar. This isn't Microsoft! They can agree on stuff like: -the game is six years old -completely unsupported, or similar to any other title -rotting away in cyber oblivion -perhaps it might be interesting to see what they can achieve unfinanced if we we give them access to the Source Code. Scathane has supplied his contact's email details, why not some of you moders contact him? I'm prepared to continue my efforts, but I think 'Jason,' has dried up. So I need ideas as to new avenues of approach. As I said, we have nothing to loose here chaps; get involved!

Don't think I can Wormie! I seriously hate unasked for stuff bouncing up on my computer when i'm on the web. I thought I was a member of a site above all this crap. Everytime I click on anything as well. I don't like it. If the site need's cash, explain why and take it from there.

Well I agree with SOCL on Hannibal, his stunning victory over the Romans at Cannae was truely amazing. He defeated 80,000 Romans with a numerically inferior army through brilliant tactics, that history has drawn upon at least untill the twentieth century. Scipio i'm not sure you should have included. Whilst he did defeat Hannibal at Zama, and in so doing so destroy the power of Carthage forever, the Romans had by that time learnt from their mistakes in the earlier battles of the Second Punic War. Anyhows, some would say Hannibal lost the battle because his 80 elephants got out of control, throwing Hannibal's cavalry into disorder. The Romans simply parted their ranks to allow the elephants to dash past before closing up and marching on the Cartrhaginians, and killing 20,000. I'm surprised you didn't include the Russian, Marshel Zhukov (1896-1974). In terms of how many he defeated, numerically he is unequaled in history. He basically destroyed the German war-effort on the Eastern Front, turning the tide of the Second World War in Europe. His first victory, however, was his victory over Japanese forces in Mongolia at Khalkin-Gol 1939. He destroyed an entire Japanese field army, about 50,000 men. This has been largely gone unknown in the west because eyes were focused on Poland at the time. Shortly after he demonstrated his genius during the High Command War Games and was made Chief of Staff. Then, despite being initially overwelmed by the German offensive in 1941 on Moscow, he succesfully defended the Soviet Capital, counterattacked at Stalingrad 1942, organized the relief of Lennigrad 1943, and led the Soviet forces at the Battle of Kursk, the largest tank battle of all time. He planned and executed Operation Bagration which resulted in the near-destruction of the German Army Group Centre 1944, and finally led his army to Berlin 1945. You also left out the American Admiral Arleigh Burke, who basically destroyed the Japanese war effort, Nelson who destroyed the French at Sea, and Wellington who led the armies of non-Nepolionic Europe to finally defeat the great French General. Anyway, I guess you've got to draw the line somewhere. But Marshel Georgi Zhukov's brilliance and contribution to allied victory over the Germans and Japanese cannot be overlooked or ignored. He must be included, despite the fact I voted for Hannibal. I'll ask Zoot to vote for the Russian!

Is it me suffering this whenever I click on anything, or is this happening to you guys as well? It's extremely irritating. To kill two birds with one stone, is it me or has everything gone red?
-
I must confess to being slightly partial to an ale or three when i've finnished rushing around in the day like a lunitic... oh, and usually a nice bottle of red with my supper. But I don't have to be drunk to be nice to people!

Han actually being captured by Bounty Hunters is one of the game's rarest events (we are aware of!) and results in him being taken before Jabba the Hutt. Luke, leia, and the Wookie will abandon whatever they are doing and rush of to rescue him. They will usually succeed. This leads to perhaps the game's rarest events; their rescue attempts failing and either Han or Han and company being delivered to Darth Vader. I've never seen this in the game, other than the DLLs and WAVE files with Resource Hacker, so don't even know if this situation actually made it to the final released product.

Ok, well not one to take a quite frankly polite and cool 'no,' for an answer; I responded thus: Hello, Please feel free to sabre me down dead if you whiry of my persistence! I shall obviously respect the fact you are a busy dude and I a mere padadork who spends to much time roaming around in game files, trying to enhance things! Are you able to direct me to someone at Lucas Arts who I may respectfully approach for further technical queries concerning Rebellion, or the corporate reasons for withholding the source-code? My thanks for your continued communication, it is refreshing to know that Lucas Arts is not as mechanical and soulless as some outfits out there! -Jahled (The manor in which Jason is responding is actually quite cool when you think about it, in that he's taking the time to address me...in human terms!) Notice how I skillfully lied about knowing advanced gibberish like tweeking with game files etc... Mask/Gank/dudes who know more about ZX Spectrums than I do... in the unlikely event this gets anywhere, you moder's are going to have to dive in pretty damn fast...
-
Ok, well in the time it took me to compose all of that, my emial recieved this: Hello, Unfortunately there are no plans to release the source code for this game. I wish I had better news for you, Jahled. Jason / LucasArts Wierd timing eh? Chins up! Any ideas?
-
Cool Scathe! This sounds potentially quite exciting... Anyways, I went back to my lead, Jason; and have tried again: Hi Jason! Just a look in to see if we got anywhere when you very kindly said you would pass my feedback on to the game's developer. I do appreciate it's an odd request to make, given Lucas Arts are a huge commercial outfit, and obviously would normally be amazed at such a request for source codes for one of it's titles; but on this occasion I would humbly ask that the game's age, unsupported status, and my; and my fellow die-hards at swrebellion.com, completely innocent reasons for asking Lucasarts for it. There's absolutely no commercial insentive, our sole reason is to unlock the final pieces of magic from the game we love, and then perhaps eventually put it to bed, having seriously got all the enjoyment we possibly could out of one of your titles. I'm one of those nerds who doesn't sleep properly unless I go to bed with that sound of a Star Destroyer resonating in my head! Thanks again for your continued correspondance. Thanks for the feedback. Jason / LucasArts P.S. When replying, remember to include all previous messages (no attachments please!). Also, please do not change the subject heading as this contains routing information. Changing the subject heading can delay any responses to you. -----Original Message----- From: Jahled [mailto:jahled@madasafish.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2003 1:16 PM To: LucasArts Technical Support Subject: Re: STAR WARS REBELLION (JS) Dear Jason, Thanks for replying dude! Just a quick question, are you guys planning any further development with the Rebellion game? Using a tool could Resource Hacker i've been able to see loads of stuff dormant in the game engine that didn't seem to make it to the final product. It's just a shame you guys just sort of left the game dead and unsupported, it could have been such a great titile. Just food for thought, but if I as the public can't have access to the game's source code, what's it doing other than rot into cyber oblivion! Seems a shame really, given some of us out here could do so much with it, and really love the game! No bad vibe intended in anything i've said!!! Jahled ----- Original Message ----- From: "LucasArts Technical Support" To: Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2003 7:00 PM Subject: RE: STAR WARS REBELLION (JS) Hello, Thank you for your message. I am sorry but this isn't available to the public, Jahled. Sorry about that. Jason / LucasArts Fingers crossed, Mask has said the source code is serious shit, and if we had it could unlock no end of possibilities, especially with all the ideas we've all been throwing around the forums here for the past couple of years. I am determined to really give this one a good shot, we've got absolutely nothing to loose! If lucas arts can come round to seeing we have absolutely no commercial interests, and are simply in this to expand the fun of the game; right guys? By the way, this thread isn't mine or Scathane's sole preserve! Get involved! If you don't fully grasp what I at least have been requesting from Lucas Arts, drop Mask a line. I'm sure he'll reply if he's not to busy, or post something public if he get's buried with emails. But communicate with Lucas Arts with RESPECT! Don't get frustrated when you are ignored, and get silly. Scathane and me have been fortunate to have had (reasonably) lucky brakes. Don't expect one instantly. If we POLITELY persist, we might get somewhere! It's on all our interests to get whatever positive feedback we can from the guys at Lucas Arts; remember when you communicate with them you are in a way doing so, on this thread, on behalf of us all. Don't get cocky! Oh, and spell check...like I forgot to!

The 'sock-incident,' is just one of a reasonably frequent string of oddities that seems to wander into my life. A couple of weeks ago I was out and about on my bike in central London delivering things, and a bloke drove by on a sofa! I kid you not, he had made a motorised-sofa. In my startled state I narrowly avoided going up the arse of a route-master bus, much to the amusement of the taxi driver behind me. Anyway, I also find worms on my doorstep from time to time when I leave the house in the morning, even a mouse once (it seemed to small to be rat), but I think that's my cat being affectionate. Anyway, Trej my man, you should check Herbie out, he was one of the pioneers of bringing a latin vibe to jazz, which might interest you.

Be it an extremely good one I certainly hadn't given any thought to...
-
You post away my friend, at least your posts express genuine interest in Star Wars and Rebellion...

Lord_La_Forge was having trouble sleeping...

Don't worry Wormie dude, there's always the parrots!

Don't work to hard brother!

I just got my automated reply this morning, Scathe! Blast. There must be a better route to direct our correspondance to at Lucas Arts, any ideas dude?

I could be wrong with the entire album, but you've certainly got 'New York is a Jungle Festival,' somewhere on the tapes.... I clearly remember recording it and the 'sock incident' with Zoot. To cut a long story short, Alex got home and asked me why a pair of my Quicksilver socks (which she regonized) were ontop of our neigbour's car. As per normal, a cetrtain cat, who I had been chasing while that track was recording had jumped out the way of one of badly aimed 'sock attacks,' which flew out of the window...

Ok, just a thought; but in the light of Evader's Homepage post, would it be in our interests to expand the scope (and appeal) of the site; for example to include other Star Wars games such as Galaxies, Jedi Knight, in greater depth, to attract more contributersand active members? Your thoughts, gentlemen.

This is spooky! Perhaps Emperor Elvis should moderate me...
