  1. No you wouldn't have to sacrifice another unit type. In RebSE you can tick both Alliance AND Empire. I ticked Infiltrators and didn't loose an Imperial unit. Haven't you enabled the Alliance to be able to build Star Destroyers and other Imperial Ship types? (you can have the Emancipator & Liberator like in the Dark Empire comics, if you have a little rerstraint and don't go over board). What freaked me about suddenly comming into possession of those infiltrator units was that as soon as I took control of the planet it appeared that any rebel special forces unit that would normally have been killed was suddenly in my possession. What I ment about being dubious about allowing the rebels access to Nogri is the gray area of the Alliance assassinating Imperial characters (a bit iffy...). Also the game might get freaked out and crash...
  2. Nice one dude. I've already got resource hacker and have figured it out enough to upload new ship models. Are you saying I can access the ship-names folder the game uses with it? I'm a bit slow with computer hoo-ha. My generation thought the ZX Spectrum and Jet Set Willy were the most awesom things around, and I still remeber being awed by Galaxion. I know it's sad.
  3. ....aghaaa.... still didn't work. Thanks anyway. I'd give someone a 1000 yard Darth Vader death stare if I were you......
  4. no....em...I don't think that's a very good idea, do you?
  5. Check this out. Using RebEd I enabled the side I was playing (the Empire) to be able to build Alliance Infiltrators, just to see if you could. Returning to the game I found they appeared on my troop menu. I continued with my game and subsequently forgot I had this option. Being the Empire I soon found myself subjugating a rebel world. Upon successfully invading it I suddenly found myself in possession of 14 Infilfiltrator units, no doubt trapped by my blocade on the world below. However, I suddenly got parranoid that the game would quickly crash and scrapped all of them bar the three I sent to a anogher system (before scapping them to). Pretty cool eh? I have no idea if you can get away with playing an entire game with enemy units without crashes though....
  6. Does any one know if there's a way to rename the choice of ships in the game files. I'm getting pretty bored of the same old names like Wind and Arrow for the rebellion, and Bear or Tiger for the Empire (not very exciting names are they). It would be pretty neat to rename them closer to the StarWars universe; for example: ISDs Avenger, Monarch, Stalker, Forger, Bellicose,Death's Head, and the odd SSD called the Executer r Lusankya. Get the picture?
  7. ...can't seem to open your links to the screenshots....curious to see what these platforms look like...
  8. Thanks, but i've done all that. I've even made Palpatine capable of training Jedi and made virtually all Imperial characters 100% Jedi probable.
  9. Try as I might, I just cant. Anyone got any tips? I've tried lowering production costs, leaving the Empire alone, playing 'turtle,' and gernerally playing like an idiot, but still find the Empire AI painfully stupid. Help! It's not as if i'm new to the game either, i've been playing since 1999.
  10. I find the computer is so crap at being the Empire I very rarely play as the Alliance. The last time I did though I lowered the Death Star's build stats to about 10/10 and beefed up it's holding capacity to 48/36. Need I say the Computer quickly obliged. If i remeber correctly in the same game I also gave a similar incentive with the SSD and ISD, and also played turtle until about day 800. While I got a Death Star and acouple of SSDs 'to frighten and demoralize me,'the AIs so crap it failed to bundle all this firepower in one fleet and I was still able to wipe the board with a rebel rag-tag fleet. I've experiemented with various ways of getting the Empire AI to play a good game and still have yet to get it to work. Some one said elsewhere I guess the AI's a rebel at heart.... A tip though to anyone who wants to have the AI to build a Death Star, do what I did above and it definetly will, but to be sure leave the Empire's worlds alone for a while and concentrate on the outer rim. To much popular support for the rebellion lowers the Empire's popularity and building capability.
