  1. Cool...when you finally give Rebellion shot you'll either love it or loathe it, that's the impression I get from the gamming industry as a whole. If you do like it one big plus for the game is the opportunity to entirely tailor the game's Star Wars universe to how you personally want it. It's that flexability which makes the aging game so appealing. The downloads (cards, models, heck...ideas) on this site enable you to do that, I guess.
  2. For starters I assume you've downloaded the Rebellion editor and opened it up on your hard drive. If not it's in the downloads section on this site. Simply download any cards into your RebEd folder in your program files. There you go, you can see why i'm not a teacher. Hay but seriously guys, it might be an idea to have a step by step tutorial somewhere on this site for new members who are a little unsure about proceedure. It's not a crime not to be a computer wizz-kid.
  3. I'm not having a dig, but just out of curiosity, do you actually play Rebellion? Anyway, call your fish Zonk and Zoot, it's easy to remember when you're pissed out of your mind.
  4. Following on what I was saying, I have my theories as to when these sounds might occur: Fett delivering Solo to vader- perhaps a second successful 'legendry bounty hunters' capture of Solo (he's already been before Jabba), Leia saying those lines- if she's imprisoned on the Death Star during rescue attempts (this one might not be so hard test out). SS-Officer: You said you were going to look into this, any joy?
  5. Found loads more WAVE files, check out ALSPRITE.DLL; Leia saying: 'Call this a rescue,' and 'Put that away before you get us all killed,' from the film but WHERE ande WHEN in the game.... 1339/1340/1341/1342/1343/1348, also Boba Fett delivering Solo to Vader : 1033. Any body come across these during a game?
  6. Sorry , and 1067 similar to 1066. Just curious. Any ideas guys ? (and girls)
  7. Say, I was just using Resource Hacker to go through the STRATEGY.DLL filder and I came across some images i've never come across in the game. Anyone out there seen them during game play, and if so when do they occur ? -1006 (a rebellion of some kind) -1066 (Bounty Hunter, Luke/Han/Leia/Chewie & Vader)
  8. My boss doesn't mind me spitting at the computer, but he says I spend to much time on the internet.
  9. No shit...hang on, Let me..ummm..just spit a few more times....my work colleages are giving me odd looks now....oh **** my boss is walking over... how am I going to explain this one. MASK ! Help!
  10. um...thanks dude, but your speaking to an idiot. Gob Extractor? What do I do, spit at my monitor? Please elaberate a little. Thanks.
  11. Don't get to excited. I was so bored last night that when an Alliance system realised the folly of their ways and declared neutrality, I kept playing back the event message and heared the words: 'Shit happens,' right at the end. Gosh, I must have been more bored than I imagined.
  12. Does anyone know where I can download music from the Jedi Knight game? I found a Sony website for the original Darkforces, but haven't had to much luck for the Jedi Knight game. Help.
  13. Yo! So when you play against the computer as the Alliance with an Alliance Death Star and you turn up in a tactical battle, the programming takes over and fires on one of your own ships..... interesting.... BUT... what about if you were playing against another HUMAN..... gosh, emmm... what would happen.... besides a game crash, do you think the Imperial player would be able to blast away at the rebel fleet with the rebel's own Death Star? I guess so, perhaps some things ( like the rebels having the thing their most morally oppossed to) just weren't meant to happen. As Ned Kelly said just before they hung him, ' Such is life..'
  14. Good grief, how did we get here from AI ship names...
  15. Sir, are you implying that Imperial Intelligence is so effective that they've infiltrated an Alliance Death Star and at the onset of a battle force our own Death Star to fire upon our own Alliance ships. Good lord man, the situation is more grave than I can imagine.... I'm going to retire immediatly and open a bar on Nar Shaddaa, the rebellion is obviously doomed...
  16. Yes..yes...yes...grumble...grumble...point taken, I know what you're saying, but hell; i've never ever ever had a game in three and a half years wear the (Imperial) AI has come close to having a fleet of 3 SSD and 16 ISD II.(And boy do I envy that game you had) That is exactly the nucleus of my original question. Every game i've ever had, either Imperial or Alliance, there comes that point where the AI simply wont match the fleet(s) you've built up against it, before the crunch time of gravity wells..... Maybe the game simply wasn't programed like a chess simulator. Sigh...
  17. Just had a little look in TEXTSTRA.DLL. The alliance will now no longer build Rebel Transports called 'Arrow.' Excellent.
  18. I wonder if Resource Hacker can get rid of these frustrating and agonizing events? Emmm......
  19. The game would crash i'd imagine for the simple reason the game wont have any programming for the tactical game mode to say'Death Star approaching' and 'sensors indicate we can launch an attack on the Death Star,' or even better that bit of dialogue that happens when one of your ships is unfortunate enough to turn up at Coruscant with a waiting Death Star protected by a Death Star Shield. The game wont have any programming for Imperial Fighters to do the trench run either, so the game would probably crash again. However, it would be pretty cool if someone out there can be bothered to prove i'm wrong.....
  20. Curiously, when I enabled the Empire to be able to build ISDII from game start my game kept on crashing as soon as I left the copit. I had to wait until Day 2. I've found though that even if if you do give the Empire insentives like Con Cost for ISD of 1/1 etc the AI still tends not to build large fleets like how you'ld want it to. I must confess to not plaing an entire game with such modified stats. That would be ridicolous. And as for gravity wells from the beginning - that would be hard. But i'm NOT going to give it go!
  21. How could you forget the Green cross Code Man. It took years for me to cross a road without expecting this tall bloke appearing out of nowhere and grabbing my sholder. But do you remember Alvin Stardust doing kid's road awareness...imagine if he had become Darth Vader. 'Star Wars the musical.... ' I get the impression Dave wants to be in Episode III pretty bad. Perhaps it's something to do with the duff deal he got out of the original films, unlike Alex Guiness whose grandchildren still get their school fees paid from his royalties...
  22. And I thought the ZX-81 was complicated....(In fact I still do) Hats off to UntimelyDemise. That State Department quote has to rank as one of the most brilliant statements of gibberish of have ever seen.
  23. Say ElvisMiggell dude, your profile says you live in London. Have you checked out Wedge Antilles and Captain Panaka in 'Holby City' on BBC1? They're both pretending to be surgeons. It's quite freaked out. I mean what next, Darth Vader turning up in the Queen Vic. on Eastenders, and retorting to Phil Mitchel "I find your lack of faith disturbing." Going back to both sides having each others' ship-types, I remember the joy I felt (as the Alliance) when my Star Destroyer, Freedom, came out of hyperspace- ship model and all- with it's routine of X-Wings, to face off the Imperial Victory-Cruiser. I had to pause the game for a while and play around with angles just to believe what I was seeing. That was the single most important thing I had wanted from Rebellion, access to any ship type in the tactical game. In one game the Alliance had a SSD, naturally called the 'Lusankya.' In another the Empire access to those zippy Corellion Gunships to wipe the board of Alliance starfighters before they got near my ISDs. Man, joy unfounded.
  24. Oh, RebSE...don't be freaked....I checked the forum last night after 'a few beers,' my fingers weren't in sink with my brain. Sorry.
  25. You'll find you can.....with the exception of characters. All of my recent games i've mixed ships to the empire and alliance (giving the Empire Nebulon Figates, alliance Strike cruisers, etc, just like in the books). I haven't tried troops, and I seem to remember RebEd says somewhere if you do it with fighters the game crashes. But you absolutely definitly can do it with ships. Try and see.. -Jahled.
