  4. Straight-faced at'Veg joined Arien for their night walk through the Palace corridors. The first two walks had helped at'Veg spot some places that were not under strong surveillance, opposed to their private quarters. "Your outburst in the dining table was not a healthy thing for our negotiations," at'Veg mentioned. Looking at river of lava flowing in the distance. "It was not, I admit that the arrival of the," she waited looking for the right name for the species, "Aklasp surprised me." "It was unexpected, but I do not think it was regrettable," the Arakanian commented. "Nor do I," Arien agreed. "It was very revealing. The Aklasp are not the underdogs of the Rapora, they have their won autnomy, their own diplomatic interests. a more humane interest in their species." "Arien?" "They are not here for the view, thye are here because they know the Vaathkree are arguiably the only species that can present a real threat to them. They have a political agenda of their own, and as of know their priority is to secure their own survival outisde the battlefield. They do not seem to be interested in the war for the same reasons as the Rapora." There was another phrase that Arien dared not even murmur, but at'Veg knew it was there. The hope that the Aklasp could be swayed from the Rapora's side. "Their presence also took the Rapora by surprise. They definitely did not welcome their intromission," at'Veg finished. They kept another few minutes in silence. "Have you reconsidered your approach to the Vaathkree?" "Not wholly. The Deal, for all its sacredness is not different from a Bargainer's code. Eklesh wants all three parties to offer the bbest they have, but he will also laugh iin the face of a party that makes him an useless offer." "What do we have to offer?" "Let us go to the Balcony," Arien ordered, the Balcony was a more exposed location. More Vaathkree dignitaries would waste their idle time watching their planet from a beautiful stone terrace. Only a minister o lower members from the planetary government were present at the time Arien and her nonhuman stormtrooper entered. "Their technology is very advanced, moreso than they are letting us know," Arien said lightly. At'Veg gave her a questioning look. We have seen of this world only what we were needed to. We saw some of their asteroid ships in orbit, and a regiment of their soldiers when we landed. We are here in their palace, but we have not seen their people. The population of the planet, which is carefully hidden underground. "Eklesh wants us to especulate what he needs. From an old treaty between the Galactic Republic and the Vaathkree homeworld, I know that was included in their first exchange program, and what the Republic offered for a full membership. Then Vaathkree withdrew just before the Clone Wars, in the high wave of Separatism. Either way, the Vaathkree had access to all of the Galactic Republic's technology long before the Empire was born. " "They were allied with the confederates?" "To some extent," Arien said. "Deatils on that, as everything related to the Clone Wars are sketchy. Whatever the Confederacy paid, it was most likely obsolete when the New Republic and the Vaathkree signed their membership." "What could the New Republic offer?" "Military protection, commercial exchange, and most of the usual stuff." "Nothing extraordinary." "One thing," Arien said. "I almost overlooked it. A Jedi was involved in the bargaining process, there must have been some additional bargaining with that one." "Who was the Jedi?" "One of Skywalker's best. 'Suncrusher' Durron." Arien said," I believe whatever he did here, was the reason behind their Force-dampening field." "There is one in place?" at'Veg asked and Arien serious look confirmed him. "Back to the mission, what will you offer the Vaathkree?" "We have already made it obvious that we cannot match technologic offer, and military ones are not likely. But I do what we could still offer them. Information." "Information on what?" "That," Arien looked as grim as the landscape behind her, "is the question, is it not?"
  5. What is the point of upping such old threads... let them rest at the bottom of the pages... There was a discussion about the Demo elsewhere...
  6. Probably... If you want to know who or what the Rapora are, you can either: Look at the in-site encylopedia for a short article about them. Or PM Stellar_Magic and have him answer all your questions.
  7. It's a sad day when members up a thread that hasn't been posted to since dec 2002. A sad way to raise post count.
  8. OOC: Threepio voice: "Oh my, I was not fast enough!" IC: I'll post later.
  9. The series aired right after Star Wars. Lucas lost the lawsuit. It's pretty hypocrital considering that Lucas "inspired" himself on Hidden Fortress for ANH's plot.
  10. Thier ships resembled X-Wings I think .
  11. 35 out of how many millions? Though I do not have a XBox, I do find that this whole things is rather ludicrious. It is just a power cord... Not a nuclear device... Those fires probably stared in the same houses that use the microwave oven to dry the cats...
  12. So Microsith can provide you with a new mind controlling power cord?
  13. The Rapora were created by Stellar_Magic for his own Star Wars fanfiction, he had modded the game to feature them in it, and they are also in the spotlight our little Online Roleplay. There is a brief article on them in the in-site Encyclopedia. Welcome to the Forum!
  14. Isn't that taken from the Original Star Trek series?
  15. Oops. Forgot that they'd appear authored under your current username.
  16. Could you give us a few examples please They should be in the Cards database. Search for *Conway as an author.
  17. Emperor promoted Thrawn before ESB, but he could not make it official. (There were already twelve at the time), so he had to wait until Thrawn disposed of Zaarin and promote him for his services. As for Thrawn in the Unknown Regions, he had already been "sent" there before Yavin, he wanted to go back and create his empire of the Hand all whilst Palpy kept sending troops in his direction, and came back when he was required to. (Corellia, Zaarin, etc). As for Dark Empire, I personally never liked that storyline. Cloned Emperor, Thrawn being nothing more than a puppet, world devastators, dark side Luke... They never made much sense to me, I never considered them part of my "personal canon". @GMConway, I hope you get better.
  18. Arien knew exactly what to expect from their quarters in the Palace. As soon as they set foot in them, the Colonel had dropped the equipment cases. The loud thud meant to annoy the ones who might be listening through supersenstitive equipment. In less than five minutes, the Colonel and his assistant had already spotted three of the more obvious devices. Yage paid no heed to them, she had instructed the colonel not to remove them. For every one they coudl actually find, there would be many more the could not. at'Veg had already began to reorganize the furniture in the room, in the event of a fight in their room. The massive stone furniture caused him a bit trouble, but the exercise felt good. It distracted him from the thought that kept possessing his mind. After a few hours in which the silent room mates completed particular procedures that had been fixed earlier, and occasionally commenting lightly on their impressions, Arien signaled with her left thumb to the door. The Colonel dismissed the sign. Only the Arkanian would go with her, evidently she had noticed at'Veg's turmoil. They took a walk outside. The gray-armored soldier clutched his weapon, it was the hallmark of a stormtrooper, no matter the time that he had now served as a naval officer, he still held the weapon with the same strength he had done almost a decade ago. The gray halls of the palace led them to a balcony wtih a spectacular view of the landscape. Off in the distance a large volcanic cone let some of it magma fly into the air. Natural fireworks. Below the balcony the rocky surface of the planet opened into large caves adorned only by light vegetation. "What did you notice in the reception?" "It might be simply unimportant, Commodore. But I cannot get it out of my head." "Speak." She said, even the slightest detail was useful. "The Rapora, they once spoke to each other in their language. Not more than a few phrases. But I recognized some words." "A language you have heard before?" She asked and his nod answered the question. "Did you here it out there? In the Unknown?" "No, Commodore. And that is what troubles me, their tongue is closely related to old Arkanian." "Old Arkanian?" Arien asked. This was somethingshe had not expected. "It was once called the language of the Lords. The Lords of the Sith." at'Veg said sharply. The memory of the Sith had cause much prejudice against Arkanian within the Galactic Republic and the New Republic, the Empire's apparent indifference to the Force had been more welcome, which is why at'Veg had decided to join the Remnant and not the GFFA. "Once upon a time, the Sith Lords ruled on Arkania. the strong and fierce became their assassin, the wise developed science for them, the rest were enslaved. The Lords who came from another planet brought their own tongue. The slaves and their seervants were forced to learn it, as no lord would ever speak slave tongue. The lords then were defeated, but the tongue remained. With the milennia it fusioned with slave tongue and formed modern Arkanian, but the words of the language of Lords can still be understood." "So you are suggesting, that the Rapora are related to the Sith Lords. That their relation to them suceeds the sith supremacy over Arkania, Iridonia and other worlds?" "Or predates it," at'Veg noted. "An intriguing find, it might be useful in the long run. It might be soemthing that Oreton might find interesting. Those bits of trivia is all he needs to be put on the right track." at'Veg nodded, the Rapora-Sith connection even if it might be a linguistical coincidence was worth noting to the Grand Admiral. At least getting his suspicions out relaxed him. Or as relaxed as a man with stormtrooper training can get. The comlink clicked in the Commodore's pocket. The Vaathkree were calling.
  19. Follow the link to get a Word Document about the Grand Admirals, I think it may be a transcript of the Insider Article, I just found them on the web and copy-pasted them on Word. http://rapidshare.de/files-en/606179/grandadmins.doc.html
  20. The Mandalorian had not an opportunity to answer. Ulan Shai jumped on the warrior with his blade ignited, in a split-second maneuver the Mandalorian avoid the weight of the warrior and with his blade flashing to life he parried the white Vong's blade. Holding the blade horizontally before him Ulan called upon the Force to send some loose piece of equipment flying through the room. The Mandalorian ducked and roled away from the metallic bulks which Ulan hovered down. "I sense no darkness in him," Ulan said, saluted his opponent and killed the radiant beam of light. "I have never met him before, and his control of the Force is rather clumsy, but there is no seed of evil in him." Han nodded at the Yuuzhan Vong who took a position at his side, and turned to the Mandalorian who had equally killed his blade and now handed the lightsaber to Solo. "Seryk", the Mandalorian answered. "I am a Mandalorian, as my grandfather was. I am also Jedi, as my Grandmother was. I have not gone through Skywalker's Jedi Academy, though I met him on Tatooine. I used to be involved with Karrde." "A colorful story, too eccetric to be forged." Solo said as he waved the lightsaber away. "I take the army coming down from the north, is the Mandalorian Grand Army. And Fett is their General?" Not wanting to argue about the command roles within the Mandalorian he simply nodded. "Now the big question is, what are you doing here? What side are you taking?" "The Mandalorian are here to redeem themselves, they are here to support the Galactic Alliance," Seryk answered. "For thousands of years, they have worked to reestablish their might. Even if they won't speak about it, they have kept their strength hidden out of fear of being attacked and scattered again." Han said nothing. Karrde had once commented on the shadowy origins of his lieutenant Shada D'Ukal, and Han could relate the Mandalorian situation remotely to the Mystrils on Emberlene. It suprised him, though the Boba Fett could have such an interesting history behind him. "When will your forces be arriving?" "Two hours, more or less, the terrain has been given some trouble to the hover tanks." "Good, that's almost what we have before the Rapora come down the mountains into the valley and then we'll have our party." Han frowned. "Seryk come with me, I'll have you tell me what your grand army is composed of." Han, Ulan and Seryk walked to the holographic table of Solo, where markers of all colors suggested the location of the defending armies. "Any word from the Imperials?" Solo asked as he saw a gap in his formations. "Very few of them have arrived, mostly troopers. Nothing from Imperial heavies." A Chiss reported. "Typically Oreton," Han murmured. *** Oreton frowned. The Rapora had begun to move faster, there was nothing holding them up anymore. "Are you certain on the veracity of this reports?" "They were taken by our shadow probes, I can have them take more, sir. But the Rapora are certainly speeding up thier advance." "They have lost whatever they had in the North, and they wish to overrun the Alliance at River Base as quick as possible." Oreton considered. "No more reports are necessary. Have the shadow probes return to Crystal Base, they will not be needed anymore. The battle for Ord Mantell will be sooner than expected." "Sir?" The soldier's speaker-filtered voice betrayed humanity. Oreton was happy to note that. "Unlike our first expectations the Rapora will treat the battle as decisive. They have noted that we have some new allies, that might make a worldwide campaign more tiresome and difficult. It is no longer Empire and Alliance, there are Jedi coming in from orbit and the ones that destroyed the Rapora force in the North, if the Rapora cannot win this battle they might consider a retreat. If they can, if our united forces cannot halt them at the River we will not stand a chance in any ground-based battle for a long time, and might as well evacuate." Oreton dictated. He had not doubt that with their growing list of allies this battle would be decisive in the short and long run. "Orders sir?" The soldier asked again. Confidence and eagerness fleeting through the modulated voice. *** His armor was heavy, but it was the best armor in the galaxy. He had experienced it, he had been shot multiple times without suffering any damage. But alone that armor did not make him feel safe. The vessel on which he traveled was tougher than his armor, it was the equivalent of his armor. Of his outer armor. The one made of heavy plastic and metal alloys. The one that could be equipped with a shield. His inner armor was much different. It had no color, no weight, but much power. His inner armor made him feel safe. In his inner armor he felt peace, it was a sentiment he liked. He knew that, unlike the stuff he had been taught the love for peace was in his blood. War was a necessary evil, if one wanted peace in the end. He had been taught that, and he agreed with that. He looked at the armored figure on his left. He probably was thinking the same, then orders came in. They had to obey them. Obedience, order were also things that he respected, that were expected from him. Fear and anger he disliked, during battle they were distractants, and they drove away the sentiment of peace. The battle would be soon. They had to prepare, they had to defeat the enemy if they wanted to have peace in the end.
  21. I shall move it to the pertaining topic, so that callitri can get his answer.
  22. Being in the same situation as M78 this day is no different to February 13th o February 15th.
  23. I knew it though I never fot it to work properly. It's the program used in my Uni, and due to either bad installer or some corrupted files it kept crashing often. So I didn't use it there. Having used Photoshop on my PC at home for some years, I didn't ever think about downloading it and trying it at home.
  24. Hi roleplayers, now that I finally can exert my moderator powers around here I will make sure that the Rapora are turned into mild Ewok like creatures, by editting Stellar's posts. (The same applies to the Aklasp) Seriously, I wanted to make some order here. I downed the old threads that had stickies in them and fixed the active Roleplay near the top of the page. Once a RP is completed or abandoned (if no one has posted in it for as much as two weeks) it will be downed. Not much of a change I know. But as a neurotic, compulsive, moderator I want to clear this section some.
  25. It is a bad thing, because of the way yo delivered it. ]I did not see you contributing much for Reloaded, you did what one Card? And when you were given work you just leave... Oh, that's a great way to support a mod. Why should that be? You have not given any other reason. Just because you want to mod it, does not mean all of us will want to mod it. The Rebellion community stand longer than most, it will outlive EaW. Intelligent people prefer imagination over flashy graphics, that might be the difference between us. But imperceptible. What's the point of checking a topic or another and not replying. Hiding behind the cover of an anynomous ID. That's a great way to make yourself credible. You did not only upset Jahled. And it is not a taboo subject, I have no problem talking about Reloaded and admitting that we had problems. It is the first comprehensive mod to that game and there was a lots of new stuff to discover, and much trial and error. We all have lives, and many of us are students so it will take a lot of time. There are other mods to other games out there that don't get as far as ours. We will complete it. I never have doubted that.
