Still trying to find a copy of that book... Partially because I've heard that it's an excellent read, partially just because it reminds me that there are other atheists out there(I live in the Bible belt) but primarily because I enjoy completely shredding the arguments of creationists on the internet. @Tex: Make you pass for thirty? Technology hasn't advanced that far, yet! Seriously, how old are you? We all assume that you're ancient, but we've no way of knowing...

I noticed that when we make a new RPG in the RPG section, not many people notice, thus why I'm doing it in General Discussion rather than where it fits in. This would be a "Just for fun" one, and one that you can join in on and post in as you please. I want to bring back "The Dark Times" which was, unfortunately, lost in the forums crash. My character was Saith Rayse, and he kinda was going to mess with the whole continuancy of the expanded universe if he went in the entire method I went with him. We had some other, rather creative characters in there, including Krytos's distinguished clone (I never would have thought of that), Mitth as, well, himself (Not so creative when I think of it), Horn as that female twi'leck (sp?), and Daur/M-guy-who's-name-I-can't-remember as Master Jacob. This is set in the period during/right after order 66 is executed, and focuses upon the persecuted Jedi, the persecutors, and the people who help them. My guy created his own third faction (Because it's trendy to be differant!) and went off to the dark side where he waged a war on the new Empire in blatant, outright violence, wheras Daur and Krytos were trying to help turn me back. Characters can go in whichever directions you want them to. Would people be interested in joining/rejoining this RPG if it's created once more? You don't have to be the same character if you rejoin, and the old plot needn't be followed. All I ask is that anyone who submits uses spell check before submitting.

Yeah. As soon as I'm bored, I'll just out-right ban his IP address and get the whole nonsense over with. I am everywhere at once. You cannot escape me. Besides, I can contact Evaders if you do.

Almost seems like it. The "old man" appears to be in his mid-to-late thirties (In the book he's over 100... And nearly bald, I might add.) The main character looks rather silly, and they feature a dragon with feathers according to a friend of mine. All in all, I'd say it's almost like Disney was put in charge of messing with this one.

True dat. I saw some shots from the movie in a copy of it that I flipped through at Wal Mart- seriously bad job with regards to casting!

Loved it! Obviously digital in some spots, but still hilarious!

Bad as things are, and high as the death rate is, I think we still owe it to Iraq to try to see the citizens through this as best we can. If our nations were to pull out the result would be a massive civil war in which even more innocents died. America is responsible for this botched war, and we need to figure out a way to see them through it, though I've no way of knowing what that is... Ultimately this is a sad situation which we don't seem capable of finding a winning option in... -
That's why I swapped the name over to Dorks United. Pay attention, SOCL, gosh! Oh, and I changed the link... They wanted it to be a direct image, you folks want it to be a link. There's some sort of irony or something like it there.

I'm under attack! (Better, SOCL?) Curse you, Bollox! Edit: RETURN FIRE!

I knew there were Bond novels, but I have yet to find any. Of course, I haven't looked terrifically hard for any of them... My favourite movie was actually GoldenEye. I haven't seen quite as many, and maybe it's because I saw Connery after seeing the newer Bond flicks, but he never did it for me. I grew up with Brosnan, and while I hated the last few, he's still Bond to me.

I don't see why we have to have the electors. We've had nine 'faithless electors' over the years, I believe (IE people who do not vote as they were supposed to) and some of 'em influenced the election. I'm in favor of this simple system: 1) A Constitutional Amendment requires the Electors to vote as their State voted. 2) The State's electoral votes are divided based on percentage of votes. We can get this done in the same manner the Federal Government raised the drinking age to 21. (IE Bribe the States) Of course Constitutional ammendments almost never get through, and this one would probably not be seen as an important one due to the scarcity of faithless electors... Heh- every time I think of that word I remember what answer "A" on my government test was for what a faithless elector is- An Atheist. ... Almost marked that as the answer, too, just for the sake of arguing a valid point against the teacher... Edit: Be prepared for President Nader... -
HAHAHAHAHA! HAH! Rather amusing... I've been wondering about Big D, too.

... And then bring them back to life eventually. Some people added their own characters from their webcomics, others added themselves. I added both in one person. If I start getting my arse kicked I may bring in Tex with his gun.

Heh- "indignus" is the Lating word for 'unworthy.' Thus, the hotel indignus which is just for foreigners would be the hotel unworthy/ hotel of the unworthy... No, wait, that would be hotel indigni, though they wouldn't want to insult their own folks, so it might be dative of posession, making it hotel indigno... Even though it doesn't exist... I'm a Latin nerd, what can I say? They thing I entered is a scribble battle, Mad! Achording Eddache (Who writes the fabulous comic of Edd Egg which I stole the jet pack comic from) quality is not what is important, but the fact that lots of cartoon characters are engaging in violence. Yay for violence! ... Now to see what happens to my beautiful character molds once other people get ahold of them....

Erm, I'm not sure what you're talking about, Tex. That's the current way things run now. All but two of our States (I forget which two) operate on a 'winner-take-all' system. Thus, in the event that one candidate in a State gets 55.1 percent of the vote and the other 49.9, the guy with 55.1 wins every vote in that State. If that is, say, Florida, it can make or break an election as we saw in 2000. A couple of thousand votes gave Bush all 25 of Florida's electoral votes, letting him leap ahead of Gore, who won the popular vote. The electoral college has a number of arguments in place against it, such as the little-known fact that in the event of a tie the vote is turned over to the U.S. House of Representatives. Each State gets only one vote, and if the representatives from one State can not come to a unanimus conclusion on who to vote for, they will have no vote. While this does not happen often (I don't think it ever has, truth be told) it is still a risk. @Rob:You are WRONG, sir! The electoral college was not originally designed to keep crazies from being elected by popular opinion. It was originally created because the Framers felt that the country was too big for news to travel far enough fast enough for the people to make informed choices with regards to how they voted. Thus, the best and brightest were to be elected by the States to come and cast their votes for the President. Something of a fiasco occured when the system originally called for he who recieved the most votes to become President, and he who recieved the second most to become Vice President. The Framers did not expect parties to form, thus we had a President and a Vice President of opposing parties who agreed upon nothing in the office. It escelated further when there was a unanimus vote the candidates from the same party, one of whom intended to be President, the other Vice President. Due to the tie there was an ammendment made to the Constitution stating that the electoral college would now speciffy who they wanted to vote for as the President and who they wanted to vote for as Vice President. Not that the Vice Presidency was an important job at this time, however. His only official duties according to the Constitution were (and still are) to act as the President of the Senate and to determine Presidential Dissability along with the Cabinet. Other than that he sits at his desk and stares up at a rather twinkly chandelier that has been in the office ever since it distracted Roosevelt (I think) and he stated, "Move that damned thing into the Vice President's office! It will keep him awake at least!" [/"looky-at-me-I'm-taking-government-this-year" rant] -
I wonder if they did get sued? @Tofu: You lucky bastard! 3dsMax 9 free!!! Hopefully for free. Like the E-mail said, we only get five copies, and some of the folks in there are better at CAD work than me, even though I'm in my second year of it. Though on the up-side, Inventor ought to be for modeling objects to test them moreso than 3D max, right? Or does 3D max have physics software and the like?

Oh, so the Jehova's Witnesses got you to listen and converted you? What Rob is trying to say is this, I believe: He finds Science fascinating. He finds the large amounts of pain-in-the-ass, if-you-make-one-mistake-your-screwed equations and the like that go with it. For instance, I chemistry is currently one of my favourite subjects. I like some of the in-depth views on differant aspects of the world around me, and how they were discovered. I do not enjoy figuring out how many molecules 2.68 grams of hydrochloric acid contains. As in, at all. Mole conversions suck. [/rant about my test today]

The original system was designed with no regards to political parties as they did not exist at the time. I was saying what I did in reply to what Evaders had said regarding how he currently votes. While I am all for Nader, and I recognize that some people vote for him strictly for the purpous of making a statement, and to get out there and vote, but it still doesn't change the fact that Nader is, unfortunately, physically incapable of winning unless he adopts one of the two major parties as his own. ... I voted for him two years ago in a moch election sponcered by Channel One. But anyway, let's get on to a new topic about the world- the electoral college is litterally getting old... -
Ooo, a newbie! An opportunity to spam and say hello! Hello! You reflect my opinion of games- the old ones are better because they didn't try to compensate for a player's lack of willingness to play one level 22 times to beat it... Not that it was ever 22 times for me on any mission- typically 23. My first video game was also Wolfenstein 3D (A demo) My parents wouldn't let me play it soon after I played, primarily because it was 'so bloody and violent.' How little they knew...

My bio teacher last year was awesome. His tests were always with a hand-out and a scantron. You kept the handout and filled your answers in on the scantron. Then, after you turned it in, he spot-checked it and you got your grade right away. One day we had a test on evolution. The question read a lot like this: Evolution is a) A Law b) Not regarded as anything by most scientists c) A theory d) none of the above He asked, "Are there any Creationists in the room?" When nobody raised their hand, he said, "Alright, then. A and C are both correct answers. Anyone who says differant isn't particularly bright. Next question."

Unbreakable, right? I liked that movie a lot, but others seem to hate it... Then again, I'm a huge fan of that director...

According to my teacher the electoral college members are given a 'slate' that is either pure Democrat or pure Republican depending upon how the State voted... As I said, I really didn't grasp the concept quite as well as I could have... It's annoying and complicated.
