If you put them in a word processor (i.e. MS Word, etc) you can run the spell checker (and grammar checker if available) before you post. Just a thought . Since it's been awhile since the last installment, I'm assuming your RL mission is succeeding. Keep up the good work (on both accounts)
  2. In order to pay you Tofu, I'm going to need a detailed invoice and a tax ID number. And my bank only allows their checks to be cashed at one of their branch offices and not at "other" banks (to reduce service charges ). It's part of the price for banking with The First Planetary Bank of Alderaan. AdmiralToguroAni wrote: I'm sure Evaders (or somebody on the "staff" would know), but my guess is it's something like this: Posts Rank 0-9 Cadet 10+ Corporal 25+ Sergeant 50+ Lieutenant 125+ Captain 185+ Major 285+ Commander 400+ Lieutenant Colonel 500+ Colonel 700+ Commodore 900+ Fleet Admiral 1000+ Grand Admiral or whatever? I don't remember exactly when I was promoted through the lower ranks, but it should be fairly close. As for the upper ranks, I'm giving it a good guess based on those currently ranked above me and still posting.

  4. I just downloaded RebEd (again) without any problems at all, everything seems to be working fine when I just tried (I'm using IE6). I don't think the problem is on the site (and I didn't say it was "operator error" either )
  5. I like the first model, and the second model even more. Both are great!

  7. Merry Christmas SWR community!
  8. Read her "post" dinochick wrote: S-i-x, 6 DarthTofu wrote: It IS his belt and not cat fur (your mistake). And even if you were (but you aren't) correct, how did the santa on the far right get cat fur instead of a belt if the cat is on the left hand side of the picture? My eyes are perfectly fine (20/20), apparently you need to get a pair of glasses.
  9. Stupid Tofu, the "two" you see on the far left and the "two" you see on the far right, are actually ONE (he's laying on his back sticking his feet in the air, like he's doing aerobics). (*** sheesh, these younglings, what are they thinking ... or seeing for this matter ***)
  10. DarthTofu wrote: That's because "black" isn't the same color as "aqua".
  11. DarthTofu wrote (Outside Interests Forum: 9/11 topic): and previously: Clearly I need to move onto lower level math Who can find the additional (invisible) two Santas ... or ... is DarthTofu suffering from flu-induced dementia? Sound off. I go for the dementia. Oh, and it the spirit of DarthTofu: "Oh my God, what's ... that ... (gasp)... smell? NO! Don't ... (gasp) ... wipe with the stocking! ... (gasp)"
  12. Uhhh, ... question? DarthTofu wrote: Considering that they're "dead" (as you put it), what makes you think they will even login to check their PM, to know when to login? You should have a "post" on the Main Page (like Evaders does) so even visitors know when to "drop by" .
  13. PT Barnum said it way back when (was I a young whipper snapper then? I don't remember ) "There is a sucker born every minute". Come on people, use your brains . The number stuff is just coincidence (BTW: Bill Clinton has 11 letters! I can think up a bunch more if you really want). The Word stuff is a hoax. check it out: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/coincidence.asp Please use snopes.com to check urban legend stuff in the future. This is almost like getting those annoying e-mails about stuff and "please forward it to everybody you know".
  14. If you send your saved game, does the other computer need to have the same TC you originally started with? If not, what data exactly is "saved" for a game (especially if it's "raw" data independent. Raw data being the basic character card data, ship stats, etc.)?
  15. Darth_Rob wrote: I'm not sure about all of the details, but basically put your electronic device inside a grounded stainless steel "box" and all wiring should be in stainless steel conduit (grounded of course) or special cabling that has built in stainless steel sheathing (again, grounded). That (theoretically) will protect the device.
  16. DarthTofu wrote: Unfortunately radioactivity doesn't "burn up", even if the meteorite burns up it's still in the atomsphere as radioactive dust to travel the prevailing winds all over the place. Grand_Admiral_Thrawn wrote: The EMP wouldn't affect the entire planet directly, but (depending where) a large chunk of area. Supposedly the Soviets had a couple of nukes set to detonate in the atomsphere over the US (central plains and east & west coasts). That would have effectively put the entire US back into the 17th-19th century (except for shielded items). NO: cars (cars running at the time of detonation), power plants offline, water & sewage plants down, gas pumps don't work, no radio or telephone (including cell & satellite phones), no long term storage of perishable food items (imagine all the milk & meat at the local stores going "bad" within a day, especially if during the summer). Instant anarchy; mass hysteria! Not a pretty sight. They say that in the event of a thermonuclear war, the dead are the fortunate ones (i.e. they don't suffer anymore). Ok, I said my rant (that was depressing). I'm going to do something more positive, maybe even Christmassy ... (*** and wanders off ... ***)
  17. I took my CD on business trips to Switzerland (though overseas flights are sooooo long; and I had an extra battery for my laptop! ). Maybe he's (or she) is really into Rebellion? Lucas has the game in stock again (let me quickly check on that ... ... well, currently out of stock but shipping again in January). Just spend the $30+ and get a whole new setup if you like it that much. I'm almost tempted to buy one just to have a pristine backup (although I think my copy is substandard, i.e. the Empire never builds Death Stars when I play the Rebels, and if Han ever gets captured nobody ever comes to rescue him no matter what side I play ).
  18. Defender_16 wrote: A standard 200 kiloton warhead has a destructive radius of approximately 5 miles (8 km). So, depending on "how near" the warhead got to the 320m "rock" (and depending on its composition - rock? iron? whatever?), it could be totally vaporized, or create a mini-radioactive-meteor shower. The only problem with waiting until the last second, is the longer you wait, the closer it gets to Earth. The EMP from the blast would wipe out communications and any electronic device in a large area (an instant time displacing event guaranteed to put you back into the stone age). Of course letting it "hit" would be worse. This thing would need to be blown up far away from Earth, which is not quite in the range (or job description) of your average ICBM (mods would definitely be required).
  19. I was just "ribbing" you MAD . I've been to Switzerland and knew what you meant. I made the comment mostly for those who haven't "traveled the world"
  20. BadSamaritan wrote: BS, are a follower of the great flying spaghetti? Most of the followers believe they're descendents of pirates, and that pirates will rule! (now, back to our regulary scheduled topic) If you use the "Print Screen" key, you can use any graphics program to "paste" into. You can always load something from "floppy" (if enabled) are from a flash drive (if able). Worse comes to worst, do a "paste" in Microsoft Word, then copy it out so you can use it (the graphic) at a different computer (with a good graphics program). I can't vouch for the quality though .
  21. DarthTofu wrote: Although Texas is in the "south", it is a BIG state with many different weather zones. The "panhandle" gets mighty cold like the other "plains" states (close but not exactly the same as Minnesota ). South Central Texas (just south of the "hill country") is usually "cool" (40's & 50's degrees F), but those "Freeze blasts" from the Rockies or Canada sure bring "winter" to South Texas . I grew up in the "North" so what most people consider "cold", I consider "cool" . And what I consider "cold", most here would consider "Hell frozen over" .

  24. What does "torrenting" have to do with sick birds? Oh, you meant "illegal" not " ill eagle", like against the law. *** mumbling *** (Young whipper snappers can't spell now-a-days ). Anyway, some of the "educational versions" are full retail versions, but if you ever print anything, the borders of your "print" have a message stating this was printed using "educational software". Not very professional if trying to "use the software on the cheap" to try and get a professional job/project for $.
  25. I liked the one when AotC came out and the "nerds" when to the theater (The main character had "a" ticket and was wearing a Jango Fett helmet, and all of his buddies had "copies" of the admission ticket and were wearing Clone trooper helmets). PS Darth_Rob, getting close to 500 posts!!
