OK, I have the answer to the question via some testing. In the Gaming Stories forums, in one of my posts (last paragraph), a Victory Star Destroyer got its clock cleaned: Hyperdrive, shield & weapon recharge are all 0. Normal damage control for a Vic SD is 20, so I set the game to FAST and let it run for 100 days; results = no change. I set damage control to 1, reloaded the game, set the game to FAST and let it run for 100 days; results = no change. I set damage control to 100, reloaded the game, set the game to FAST and let it run for 100 days; results = Shields are halfway repaired. I set damage control to 500, reloaded the game, set the game to FAST and let it run for 100 days; results = the entire ship is 100% operational. Conclusion: the higher the damage control value the better. I hope that this will settle that question for now on

Current (Rebellion) game's you're playing.
DarthTex replied to Defender_16's topic in Gaming Stories
Well, Intelligence isn't quite up to snuff, yet. Both of the rebel escort carriers were fully loaded with a mix of X and Y-wings. Each rebel carrier arrived with a Corellian corvette, and chose to battle my ISD & fighters. Over the course of action I lost 3 Ties with the other 3 damaged. I quickly sent in reinforcements and exchanged out the damaged Ties. That was enough to handle the remaining rebel ships. Over in the Fakir sector at Delaya, I got my butt handed to me on a platter. A couple of Y-wings and a single X-wing, wiped out my Tie escort on a Victory Star Destroyer. Then the incompetent commander & his gunners, couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Shields were gone and systems taking damage when I call for the retreat. I go to get "immediate results", and by some miracle I'm victorious. Not a good victory as the hyperdrive is destroyed on my Vic, and I have no fighter replacements anywhere nearby. I think I'll just write him off already ... -

Well just for the heck of it, I started a "vanilla" Rebellion game (no RebEd changes), huge galaxy, hard and started out as the Empire. As usual I started out with only 8 systems in four Core sectors, while the rebels started with 24 systems in six Core sectors (the AI needs all of the help it can get). We each have two systems in the Sesswenna sector, so I immediately send out Jerjerrod to do diplomacy to get the rest of the Sesswenna sector to my side. I only have 1 TF in this sector so espionage droids are the first priority. Fortunate for me I chose espionage droids, as the first mission for two of the droids was the rebel system of Balmorra. To my ultimate surprise the rebel fleet was already massing for a strike on Coruscant! In all of my years I've never seen this happen at the beginning of a game (it's day 20); there are TEN rebel fleets enroute, consisting of 1 bulk cruiser, 2 escort carriers, 6 Corellian corvettes and 11 medium transports! The rebels have all of that by day 20!! But one must remember that the game is against the AI; the rebel fleet contains no fighters and only 8 of a possible 22 troops. Plus the AI has them arriving on a "staggered" schedule. I immediately moved my ISD from Coruscant to Balmorra blockading the system. I'll run off each of the rebel fleets as they arrive, but unfortunately there is another rebel system in the sector. I need to also blockade it to force the rebel fleet elements out of this sector. The only other surprise I've seen so far is the rebels already have 3 shipyards on Sluis Van. I've never seen more than 2 shipyards at the beginning of a game; another first. Has anyone ever encountered such surprises at the beginning of a game? Just curious -
No, he meant like this ... http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/3036/redneckspoilergx4.jpg

I think you mean "need" Def I've sat in a saddle longer than that, and it doesn't have anywhere near the nice cushions and high back, plus cup holders! [mumbles] whining young whipper-snappers [/mumbles off]

The thread of ridiculously priced novelities.

(** cough, cough **) Sweep away the dust next time Turtle It works fine for me; operator error on your end? -
Rob, check your calculator. $2,000 for 1 semester for 1 person; if you have a roomate (that's now 2 people), why wouldn't your rent be $1,000 for 1 semester for you? Since the landlord doesn't live on or near the premises, he'll never know you have a roomie

@Def: where would you put a spoiler? Anyway, below is an artificial eclipse over Europe as the Death Star approaches http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/9328/deathstarovereuropeel8.jpg (Actually it's a picture of the day-night terminator taken from the late space shuttle Columbia ... RIP)

First off Rob, don't call him ... wait 'til he calls you (make him sweat a bit ). Under NO conditions should you do repairs, unless you're ... appropriately compensated I would say on the lines of FREE rent, and the necessary safety equipment (all at his expense, of course). If it is asbestos, you don't want to mess with the stuff. You could get into BIG trouble (health wise and by the civil authorities). I'd be interested to hear what he wants and how he's going to try and screw you at the same time

Rob I'm surprised. I thought you knew that the sport of basketball was originally started by the mysterious Sasquatch. You can even see that some of the players have the "Bigfoot" gene, although it has been somewhat "watered down" over the centuries GO SPURS GO!! http://www.wittemuseum.org/images/Game%20Dinner/Auction%20Items/spurs%20big%20sign.jpg

I got it, but I'm not sure the non-local young whipper-snappers will

Everytime I go to the Post Office to see one, they said it just left! Something about finding its former master or something I've never heard of such devotion in a droid mailbox before

So following the same philosophy, you could justify the Bush troop surge in Iraq. In Rebellion, if a planet is in uprising and requires 6 garrisons to keep peace, in order to quite the uprising, you must first double the garrison requirement. Once 12 garrison units arrive, uprising is put down. You can then pull the troops out but must be careful to leave at least 6 garrison or risk slipping back into uprising. Of course, you must account for terrorist attacks or inadequate maintenance points (Congressional backlash against troop funding) which could slip those numbers below 6 garrisons. What to rethink this? Well hopefully one wouldn't be foolish enough to pull ALL of the extra troops out and leave just the minimum. Maybe just a couple at first. And luckily there are characters that do that mission thing call "diplomacy" which starts to bring civilian support to your side. Thus lowering the minimum required troops. As for those pesky nay-sayers in the Senate, maybe the Senate should be dissolved and .... oops! Having a little SW cinematic flashback there

Once Voyagers 1 & 2 get to interstellar space, they will be dead They don't have the necessary power to relay the information back. The longer it takes, the less power they have. Already several of the instruments are powered down, and only the minimum are left. To conserve power they need to turn off the very instruments that would tell them what they need to know. If they turn off the gryoscopes (to keep the high gain antenna aimed at Earth) to keep the instruments powered up, how do you get the info back to Earth (the antenna is pointing where now?)? It's a good PR campaign, but it's pretty well done its mission.

Hey Rob, a littel silver lining for you: Nintendo Plans to Boost Wii Production

Was the maintenance (<-- correct spelling ) cut for both sides, or just the Empire? -
Not very nice of you Apparently there's no logic behind this decision. Therefore I disregard it. Now, just as soon as they (those pesky scientists) perfect the fusion reactor and crack anti-matter production, I think we'll have plenty of power to move some interstellar probes along pretty fast

That's probably because it was way too difficult to do a German Boba Fett with a Kiwi accent

Huertolero's Crazy "Cheer-the_Mask" Thread
DarthTex replied to Huertolero's topic in Rebellion Reloaded
Kudos to the RR team. Your hard work is much appreciated. Cheers for The Mask for working on that installer thingie! @LLF: On the really cool troop finder screen: the faction icon is Imperial, the label is "Imperial Troops", but why do the troop icons look like they belong to the Rebel Alliance? -
You forgot to mention that looser of a landlord

Have a great birthday SOCL

If so, we'd all probably be exterminated by now for being stupid

Just make sure you don't get ripped off like poor Rob

Don't you mean this Rob: Man, that really sucks I've heard lots of bad stories and such. Luckily I only hit ebay once every blue moon or so. Ebay should make sellers put up a bond or cash deposit in order to sell things. At least that way if they try to rip you off, you can get some if not all of your money back. Good luck on your Wii Rob
