  1. I saw in the chart of the countries with claims to the continent that there is an unclaimed section. I ponder as to whether that is because it remains unexplored. Edit: Going apartment hunting tomorrow and then to the Warped Tour on Saturday on Long Island. YAY!!!!!!!!! Double Edit: If you look on the map on the web page, you can see my hometown from back in the island days. Who can guess which town it is? MUHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!1
  2. Yeah, I found those at gamefaqs.com. Thats the site I use for all my cheating needs.
  3. So those images use sand as the medium? WOW!
  4. Now that you say that, I recall you saying something earlier about working in the cafe. Good luck. However, if you want to be a shoe-in, you should put me down as a reference. Actually, putting a "Darth Rob", "Mad78", and "SOCL" as references should definitely get you hired right on the spot.
  5. Yeah, I have a link to it in my above post. It shows which countries have a claim to which part of Antarctica.
  6. What kind of job are you looking into?
  7. Maybe he started out with Ron, then became an Auror (since George needed him earlier in life than later, after he gets married). My other question is whether or not they all had to go back to Hogwarts for their 7th year, or if, based on their actions, it was a sort of "honorary" 7th year.
  8. So its similar to Antarctica, where several countries lay claim to it.
  9. I have the Gamecube version of the game. Thus, Tofu's cheat about chopping arms off does not work (I assume that Nintendo felt it was too violent to include). I also do not have a choice of saber. I do have a choice of type of saber attack speed (fast, normal, slow). In that respect, I usually go for the fast or, on occasion, the normal. I don't like slow, powerful characters in games. I usually go for the faster or medium characters.
  10. I have so much to say about the Simpsons movie. It was the greatest thing ever. It contains a few spoilers, thus I am making it "invisible". Being the huge fan that I am, I would have killed anyone who leaked information about the plot of the movie to me. The writers and producers did a stupendous job in keeping details under wraps, and I am eternally thankful to them for that. As frustrating as it was, it made tonights viewing that much sweeter. So here, my friends, is my review of the greatest film of the year (and I mean it...move over Spidey): It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the Simpsons. I have been watching the show since the first seasons. I remember the first episode I watched was the one where Homer gets caught dancing with Princess Kashmire, and the photos are released throughout the town. I used to spend sleepovers as a child playing countless rounds of Simpsons Trivia with my friend and his brother. These days, I go out of my way to snag each DVD season on its release date, and then watch the entire season within a 2-day span. I am a huge Simpsons nerd, and am not ashamed of that fact. Hence, I was very, very excited for this movie. I remember when the South Park Movie hit the theatres. That movie made the show the success story it is today, and I always wondered why The Simpsons did not follow suit. It was a dream years in the making, which finally came true tonight. The movie was perfect. The storyline was classic Simpsons. Homer replacing his son with a pig, and placing the town in danger over free donuts was totally classic. I liked that many characters had short spots, like Cletus, Fat Tony, and even Mr. Teeny. The characters were in perfect form. Flanders was great (espicially with the hot cocoa), Mr. Burns was still evil, Ralph was still random ("I like men now"), and most importantly, Homer was...well Homer. The town's reaction to Homer's actions was extremely predictable, which is not a bad thing at all. It was refreshing to see the movie stay so true to the show. The people of Springfield are easily pushed to mob rule, and post-dome Springfield is great. I was really hoping to see Hank Scorpio make some kind of appearance in the film, but Al Brooks still took part as the head of the EPA, so the voice of Scorpio held me over. I laughed aloud the entire movie. The dialouge was great, and the jokes were plenty and funny. One of the best scenes, to me, was towards the end, when Homer and Bart are flying across Springfield Gorge on the motercycle. As they reach the other side, they pass a tree, which has a crushed ambulance in it. This is a connection to the episode in one of the early seasons, where Bart attempts to cross the Gorge on his skateboard. To prove how ridiculous the notion is, Homer attempts it. He misses, and falls down to the bottom. A helicopter later carries him up, and he is placed in an ambulace. The ambulance drives about five feet before it crashes into the tree directly in front of it, causing Homer to comically fall out of the ambulance and fall down the Gorge all over again. I do have but one complaint. However, it is not against the movie itself, but rather the marketing. I feel that the commercials gave away some really, really great scenes, in particular, when Homer does "Spider-Pig" with his pig. It was funny the first 10 times I saw it on commercials, but it got old. When I saw the move tonight, while the whole theatre errupted into laughter, I could barely bare a smile. Don't get me wrong, it was funny as hell. But it was played out WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY too much. Then the genious behind me says "HAHAHA! JUST LIKE THE COMMERCIAL!!!!!", and Im like "well I think anyone who has a TV could have told you that one." Otherwise, the movie was super great, any Simpson's fans wet dream.
  11. Ahhh, I don't think I saw that. I just assumed they would stay together, then I saw this interview. Needless to say, I will be purchasing that encyclopedia whenever she finishes it up (probably a few years down the road).
  12. Russia claims Antarctica I first heard of this last night on the Colbert Report. I was under the assumption that Greenland had a claim to the North Pole. It's crazy to hear of this.
  13. I have to say that my favorite ability in Jedi Outcast is the Force Grip. At first, I was all about lightning. Then I moved on to Drain. I never liked Rage. Then I started a map in the Jedi Arena (garbage facility) that had this huge hole, and I now have this fetish with gripping opponents and dropping them down the hole. Long live Force Grip!!! For others who have played, what are your favorite Force powers?
  14. The Full Tilt site that Mitth found seems to be a good bet (no pun intended). Im downloading the software now and will then test it out.
  15. That was very informative. I see my guess about Ron being an Auror was wrong, but this one makes more sense. Im sure he needed to be there to help his brother.
  16. I never realized that thing with the HQ. So whenever you move the HQ to a uncolonized system that has just one troop regiment, it will turn 100% loyal as if you built a facility of some kind there?
  17. Well, the way I see it is this (btw, if what I say was proved wrong, please let me know). The game starts immediatly after the Battle of Yavin. However, Mon Mothma is already in the game, at the HQ (wherever it is). Also, I think Mothma was involved with the Rebellion during the events of ANH. This leads me to assume that the Yavin moon was not the Rebel HQ, but just an above-average military base. Either that, or there were various Rebel cells that had just never met up yet. Maybe Leia's group on Yavin 4 had not had the opportunity or intention of joining forces with Mothma. Didn't Bel Ibis (sp) do something similar, where he led a rebel cell that was not aligned with Mothma (due to his suspicions of her intentions)?
  18. Nice one, Taco. I hadn't thought of that. In fact, I was quite curious as to the contents of this thread. For some reason, shopping and ugly girls did not register in my mind when paper bags were mentioned...
  19. I just had this stroke of genius. As a way of bringing the community together and what not, I suggest that we find a cool free online poker website, join up, and play each other and whatnot. I used to use one site called Doyles Room, or something like that, but it ended up removing the free poker section, so its all real gambling now (something I refuse to do, unless Im in Vegas). I used to play over MSN also, but it takes forever to load up, and is tough to get connected with friends. So I think I will go about and find a new site that offers free online poker in a decent format. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?
  20. But that would be the challenge. Tofu and Mad would have to start a random conversation engaging enough to keep others interested. Perhaps an online poker game then, or something to that effect. Ooh! That gives me an idea...
  21. Its from the movie, The Crow. Its a very, very good movie. I insist that you run to a video store and rent it!!! As for randomness... Riddle me this. How do you ruin the mood with your girl friend? Tell her that her smile looks like a TIE Interceptor...(I found this out first-hand tonight...)
  22. Most places around upstate New York do not even offer paper bags anymore. It used to be a choice: paper or plastic. Now plastic has replaced paper. I think the idea of cloth bags that you can buy and use is a good one. It would be like a car or a phone...something that a family needs. Everyone brings in their own bags, they would be much stronger than paper and plastic (and not break). Then when its dirty, you just throw the bags in with the wash. An absolutely brilliant idea, IMO.
  23. But its for the good of the forums SOCL. It will be the spam to end all spam.
  24. On-campus housing is my last resort. I am not too keen on living on campus and having to deal with relying on the cafeteria and eating out for meals. I enjoyed being able to cook in my last apartment. But I believe that I will be able to get one if it comes down to that, so I dont think I have to worry about being out on the street or anything. Im gonna go up Wednesday and hopefully I'll be able to find somebody looking for a roommate or something like that through one of the apartment rental companies. There's like four major ones, who own the majority of the apartments in town. I'll also be checking the paper out to see what the locals are offering. So hopefully I'll be successful Wednesday. I just hope I dont get stuck with one worse than last semesters, but I dont think that is possible...
  25. Heres an idea... Both Mad and Tofu create their own random topic. Then, after a set amount of time, the topic with the greater post counts wins. Heres the only rule I can come up with: Mad and Tofu cannot post on their own topic (thus giving their topics extra posts). This way its kind of more natural.
