That is pretty sad. I remember seeing that parrot on TV before...

SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!! At least I collected decent games like Star Wars, Middle-Earth, and X-Files. None of that Magic or Pokemon (I think that was around at the time) or other pointless games.

I dunno. I still feel there would be no difference if the U.S. navy was prepared for Pearl Harbor or not. It is still an attack on American soil, and it was still unprovoked. If FDR did it, then I feel it was a needless waste of life.
-
I've heard the conspiracy theory about Pearl Harbor also. I don't know exactly if I believe it. I find it kind of hard to believe that the leader would allow such an attack to succeed. Like you said, if they attacked and we repulsed them by being prepared, I'm certain we would have still declared war. An attack is an attack, regardless of if it's a surprise or not.

Haven't heard of the Hulk or Daredevil before the movies came out?! Well, maybe I can understand the Daredevil. He wasn't as popular as some other heroes. But Hulk?! Come on man! He must have been referenced a zillion times in pop culture and what not! And my biggest gripe with the Daredevil was actually aimed more at the character of the Kingpin. In the comics, hes this huge, manipulating, bald white guy. In Daredevil, the Kingpin is transformed into some black boxer. The Kingpin was a great villain who was big in Daredevil and Punisher comics, and also crossed-over into others (I know he shook Spidey's web quite a few times). Needless to say, they took this awesome crime boss (he had no super powers, thus never went toe-to-toe with heroes...he was more of a behind-the-scenes guy who hired other to do his dirty work) and transformed into this buffed out guy who was capable of competing with Daredevil mano-a-mano. Didn't float in my book.

They are making "The Incredible Hulk". I think its sort of like Batman Begins, where it starts the story all over again, and disregards the previous film. Its a good idea.

Yes, Iron Man does look quite nice. I am excited for it. I was on imdb awhile ago, and looking up all the Marvel superhero movies that were coming out. You can see it for yourself here. I was looking forward for the Doctor Strange movie that was due out this year, but I never heard anything more about it. Then, I saw this at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. Apparently, Dr. Strange was made into an animated short film rather than live-action. I am a tad disappointed. But I see that the list on imdb has removed Captain America (which is sad), but added Thor (which is sweet). Ahhh...I love these comic book movies. Aside from the first Hulk and Daredevil, that is...

My professor is this paranoid/conspiracy theory type of guy, so he creates a new spin on U.S. history and whatnot. Anywho, from what he was saying, Congressmen have the power to go into the Congressional records and can edit things that they said, and they do not have to leave any note of what was edited, why, or when. Now THAT is power...being able to actually change history...

Yeah, this semester is going to be killing me. But now, in an odd way, I am kind of looking forward to doing this paper on the U.S. reaction to Yuri Gargarion's flight. The professor was telling me that my best sources of information will be Congressional records of what they were debating and what not in response to Gargarion's accomplishment. So rather than reading books, I'll be looking through old minutes of Congressional meetings, which seems kind of interesting. I was talking to someone in one of my other classes who is taking their senior seminar on Medieval Europe, and she was saying that that professor did not really give them a choice of topic to work on. They all had to go through old tax records from the 900-1100s in England. Yuck.

I'd actually prefer a hat to a t-shirt. Can never have too many hats...

Well, after talking with my Dad today, we have several confirmations. First off, the mountain that the book claims the mine is on is the mountain where our property is located. Secondly, my Dad informed me of a piece of the puzzle that I was unaware of. Apparently, the deed to the property mentions an abandoned lead mine, though no exact location is mentioned. Thus, a surveyor at one time knew about this mine. I was talking to my sister today, and we plan on finding the mine and then turning it into a tourist attraction. I told her that she could be the tour guide, and I'd be the guy who would hide in the caves and scare passing tourists.

Anakin (with red lightsaber) vs. Obi-wan video
Darth_Rob replied to Sinister's topic in General Discussion
Wow. That storyline is nuts. But like many things, it reminds me of the Star Wars CCG I used to play. One of the options to win was to turn Luke to the Dark Side (if you were the Imperial player) or to turn Vader back to the Light Side. If either one turned, the game was immediately over. It was a very popular victory condition, and was the theme of many decks. -
Yes you do, my friend. Yes you do.

Scrubs is a classic show. I gotta get them on DVD. But I also need Lost and Heroes first...

I don't recall if anyone remembers, or if I even mentioned it before, but my family owns several hundred acres of property up here in Oneonta, where I go to school. My grandfather made the initial land purchase and built the house up here in the 1950s, so my family has been coming here for many, many years, which is one of the reasons I chose to come up to this school. However, to make a long story short, the house my grandfather built has become rather...dilapidated over the years (seeing how it is far away from everyone and we are not here year round), so it can no longer function as a home. It is used more as a hunting lodge for my family. Anywho, the point of this thread is this. One of the neighbors down the road was telling my dad one day that back in the day there was a mine somewhere on our property. He claimed that it closed down a long time ago, but in the early 1920s or 30s, the local schools used to take kids to the abandoned mine as a school trip of sorts. However, we have never found evidence of it. Many of our vacation trips up here were spent walking through the woods, using metal detectors to attempt to find the entrance to the mine. My dad also spent several days (at different times) pouring through the towns public records and whatnot, but nothing produced results. Then last week, I was walking down Main Street, and I passed the Greater Oneonta Historical Society's headquarters. It was closed, but I wondered if they would know anything. So I e-mailed the organization, and just received word back from them tonight. The person who replied to my e-mail said he brought it up at a meeting, and one of the members recalls a mine. Apparently, there was a silver boom in the 1820s-1880s, and people came to Oneonta looking for a piece. But the mine went under due to unknown circumstances. He also showed me a link to a book that mentions the silver mine, and has a few pictures of the miners and stuff (praise FSM for amazon.com book page views). The book said the mine was somewhere on Franklin Mountain, which could very well be where our property is. I e-mailed my dad to confirm this belief. Needless to say, I am excited. I would love to find a system of caves running under our property, especially if they are the remains of an old abandoned mine. The guy who replied to my e-mail said that he also put my query in the Fall newsletter, so that many of the old cooks out here in town who belong to the society might hear about it and remember something. This is very exciting to me, and I just wanted to share my tale. I have always hoped to find confirmation of this story my Dad heard, and we are now a huge step closer to uncovering this mystery. I will definitly keep this updated as I find out more information. By the way, in case anyone is interested, here is the link to the page in the book, with a photo of the cave and some miners. Just click on the link that says "return to page 71".

It's from Hellboy

Seeing how most people use MSN, maybe I'll re-download it. I used it several years ago when my friends use to play poker over it, then it rotted away from not being used...

I dunno if its fun or not, seeing how I never played it, but I have made it a point in my life to never pay a monthly subscription to game online. I never played a MMORPG online, and I sure as heck am not going to pay to play a console game online. The Wii's online capabilities were proven with Mario Strikers. It was free and extremely easy to connect with other players. Super Smash Brothers is coming out in December, and will allow a 4-player online gameplay, and when the Wii version of Super Mario Kart hits the console, it will boast 16-player online races. All Im saying is that a console should not charge you to play their games online. You pay a several hundred dollars for the system, controllers, games, and accessories, and then the X-Box expects me to fork over even more cash on a monthly basis just to play it? Nuts to that.
-
The X-Box and Halo are all overrated. The fact that you have to pay Microsoft a monthly fee to play those games online is ridiculous.

You mean those two old, grumpy muppets aren't called "The Disgruntled Hecklers"?! I had no idea they had names. And such odd names at that. Upon further reflection, all the muppets had odd names...

Im sure that Lucas would defend that by saying that Yoda was crushed by the loss of all the Jedi, Anakin's conversion, Palpy's victory, and his personal exile to Dagobah. As for Palpy, the Dark Side ate away at his body and what not. But in all truthfullness, both Yoda and Palpy show a huge aging difference between RoS and the OT.

Im definitely going to need it. This is by far the most time-consuming class I have ever taken. My French Revolution class last semester sorta led up to this, by requiring a 15-page paper, but this current class requires a lot of work. Also, the professor e-mailed us last night asking us to write an additional paper up for Monday. So now I have to write 2 papers for Monday. I think I am going to drop my work schedule down to 3 days a week. I won't be able to get all this class work done if I keep up my current work schedule. No more money for Rob.

Yeah, he's been using that one for a few weeks now. He's due for a change.
