SLI generally isn't worth it for the price. If you spend that much money, just go and get the next higher single card. It will perform better than the SLI dual setup usually. (Of course, if you want to go all out and get the latest 8800 GTX .. and then SLI that baby... sinking $$$ down the drain)

Personally, I'm hoping to see Star Wars in ground combat... ala Supreme Commander If the SWTA/SWS team doesn't start on it, I hope Eville will. Yes, new models and such.. but hey, put VSDs in the atmosphere if it works.

JPG compression never has 20000 byte/pixel - that is just a rediculous amount

Nvidia's DirectX 10 card just rocks the socks off everything right now. We will have to wait until ATI releases its own to see how they compare. In terms of DirectX 9 cards, Nvidia's GeForce 7900 GS seem to compare well to the ATI's Radeon X1950. Recommendation: get the best one you can for the value. Neither brand has an advantage right now besides Nvidia's DirectX 10 card, because ATI hasn't had one on the market yet.

After all the rebates, it was $120. An excellant deal considering the on-label price was $250. eVGA also has a lifetime warranty and their contest to win back the cost of the card. The only thing I'm annoyed about was the MSI motherboard that was bundled with the CPU. Can't figure out how to change the CPU core voltage, otherwise I would seriously try and max it out to the near 2.8 Ghz they've gotten the E6400 to clock.

Dunno, I think the Trekkies have more conflict with fans of other scifi, esp Star Wars. I've heard a lot of complaints that SW isn't true scifi, isn't real, etc... but its a space opera and no: its not any more real than Star Trek Star Wars fans are a diverse lot, they like many things including Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Bablyon 5, etc, etc, etc.

Sorry, I'm a relative newbie to Star Trek. I'm not old enough to appreciate the work of Shatner as Kirk. I really liked Voyager and some of TNG.. mostly when involving the Borg or Q. Enterprise was off and on, though the last season I felt had good stuff. Too bad it was cancelled. I care very little for the utopian social messages that Star Trek tries to imply, esp when it is rather overt. I just want to escape into the scifi, I'd watch a family drama if I wanted such social commentary. Anyway, here's to the next Star Trek movie! Hope it won't be so bad as the latest ones. I thought First Contact was good, but the others.. bad bad.
