A switch is all you need. The router should assign you an IP, looks like it is doing that ... my guess is that it is: 192.168.0.3 That is a simple local network address and cannot be used for people to address your computer outside of your router

We've pumped a considerable amount of money into China. I don't think they'd risk changing the status quo when it comes to China-Taiwan-US relations.It would hurt their economy as well as our own. So long as Taiwan doesn't declare independence, mainland China saves face without actually having to acknowledge that they have no political influence there.

North Korea is a different situation entirely. We have allies in the surrouding countries, they don't want to see North Korea with a nuke. China can exert considerable pressure on the North Koreans. We've ruled out military operations... who would want to start something on the most heavily armed border in the world? Certainly not against a regime that's shown it has nuclear ambitions to put itself above the starvation of its own citizens. I think you overestimate their technology. So far they haven't had really sucessful missile tests. They are more likely to destroy themselves rather than restart the Korean war again. (And the fact that they are not in the portion of the world that supplies the majority of the world's oil... that makes it less detrimental to the world's interests.)

Really the series just shines, awesome writers and storyline. Chewie's death was planned.. and not by Salvatore. He was made to write it, and I think he gave Chewie a very noble death. His death symbolized that no character was invincible in NJO, something that plagues the Star Wars universe throughout the novels. There are too many superheros and not enough "real" characters.

Weren't the clones flash-trained? Basically all the informaton was implanted into them. And even Zahn acknowledges that not all the clones were the same as their original, to the point Fel's clones actively help out Luke and Mara. They wanted to protect their homes and their way of life rather than hep the Empire.

Unfortunately now that every movie has to have millions of dollars in special effects, it costs more to produce. And that means it costs to buy the rights to display the movie. Which means more costs for the customer to watch in the movie theater...

Darth Maul was just an on-screen average bad guy... he has a much deeper history in the novels. Too bad he never really had the depth as Darth Vader's character in the movies. Also Count Dooku (Darth Tyrannus) was used in the same way... while he actually had some good lines, much more of his background is developed from the books. If you just saw Episode 2 and Episode 3 only, you would figure he's just another average bad guy seduced by power. There is an interesting quote by Harrison Ford... he was expecting a much better resolution with Boba Fett. He was saying after reading the script of Return of the Jedi... he was expecting Boba Fett to turn out to be Luke's mother! That would have really been an interesting twist. Of course, Harrison Ford also wanted the Han Solo character to die in the movie.

Okay.. so we have 3 branches of the American Government Executive - the President, the Vice President, his Cabinet, etc. Legislative - the Congress, divided into the House of Representatives and the Senate Judicial - the Supreme Court and all lower courts Each as a check on the other, whether it be from Congressional oversight of the Executive, the President allowed to pardon, Judicial appointments, etc. The President is elected every 4 years. They can serve up to two terms. In the House of Representatives, representatives are elected every 2 years. While in the Sentate, senators are elected every 6 years. Supreme Court judges are appointed and serve a life term. The system is such that we have an election every even year. Whether it be from Congress now in 2006... or the President again in 2008. That's the basic summary, I hope others could go into further details. It is too early for the 2008 election for candidates to be announced. But generally the thought is that Hillary Clinton will run (even though she denies it at this point). Condolezza Rice has said she will not run, I'd believe her more than Clinton. My guess is that it will be a powerhouse like John McCain for the Republicans, someone that has been Bush's opponent and can win on his own Republican credentials.

I'm going to bring up Islamic extremism again. It is all what we do... so we shouldn't say anything as to not inflame the Islamic countries. But the central conflict remains... Islam vs Islam. There are death squads of Sunni's vs Shittes. There were wars such as Iraq vs Iran, ethnic cleansing, human rights violations through the roof. And where is the outrage? It is when united against the West .. through the cartoons and the papal speech... that the protests start. Why is it not directed at the people who will explode themselves in front of a mosque? Why is there no outrage against those who would pervert Islam? If this is truly a "religion of peace", why is there no peace in the middle east? And you can't say it is just the existance of Israel... that causes such things as chemical attacks from Iraq to Iran? Much like the theoretical resolution written in Orson Scott Card's Enderverse books, I believe that the Islamic world needs deal with its own people first. They must hit a low point in order to build back up to a civilization that is respected by the world.
