Got to love those hard pitched battles! ! Sounds like a great game SM, can't wait to hear how it ends - oh, and good choice playing as the Alliance

Squinting, Karn tried to remember what had happened exactly. Though the reports on the Noghri had always been very vague, especially for someone in his position. "Hmm, well it all started with Vader "saving" the Noghri from their planet - which was orchestrated by the Emporer. Aparantelly, two warships battled above their planet, and the ship that lost crashed and released a toxic chemical over the planet - and Vader came to their rescue. In repayment, the Emporer asked for their sons services. As you know, they served the Empire as assassins as well as commandos. "Anyway, the gist of what I understand is that Leia found out about the treachery and told the Noghri. They recalled all their people that followed the Empire, and pledged their alliance to the New Republic - I think they saw Leia as their new saviour, and possibly to some extent feel that Darth Vader is still their saviour. Anyway, they now call her "Lady Vader", and to my knolledge obey her without question."

Karn got out his chair, and looked across at Alex with a baffled face. Nevertheless, he now had a new assignement - a very new assignment, Karn had never done anything to do with intellegence gathering or assessing. "So cade . . . ah, Sergeant - I guess we'll head off to the Reckless Wonderer and set up their. There's a moderately large cargo hold as well as passenger space onboard my vessel that currently isn't being used. We can turn that into our work area. "I guess now, we need to organise what equipment an personal we'll need to get this done."

Well, it's been a while since I played a game of Warlord's. Though with a week off from Uni, and nothing else really stopping me, Ii started up a game. Following my usual conventions I opposed a single Imperial opponent on a large map, with myself as the Alliance. The game was to mainly get a feel for the gama again and try out the update patch (the first, as the second wasn't out yet). Well, everything went rather slowly. We both built up large fleets with little if any skirmishes, except for the odd prob. Unfortunately, even with AI fix - nothing seems to have changed. In the end, both the AI and myself had reached the build limit and had two awesome fleets standing off at each other. With that, an all out assault would lead to both utter distruction and a really laggy battle. So, taking to the roots of the New Republic, I used some Rebel Alliance hit and fade tactics. Though, with a fleet of 3 Mediators and two DSDs - and as the Imperial fleet was spread between refinery ships, I was able to target individual vessles with ease and only retreat after serious threats arrived. This wasn't enough to wear them down though, they merely rebuilt. So I assemnled my fleet of 4 DSDs, 2 RSDs, 2 MC90s, 2 Republic SDs and 3 Mediators plus my support and jumped into attack. I sent my mediators to the front of the Imperial fleet to take the broad assault. Then two equal fleets of capitals above and bellow. My support vessels came in from the side as one big group once the firing started. I concentrated fire in fleet groups to take out key warships. First the two Allegiances, then any ISD mk IIIs and worked my way down. If a vessel of mine got to damaged, I jumped them out to stop them from being destroyed - where a fleet of Hajen's and repair driods went to work. In the end, I was forced to pull out when an Executor SSD pulled away from the enemy shipyards andjoined the battle. I ignored it until all except one ISD mk II was destroyed. My loses were a Mediator, a CC-9600 and two other corvettes. Now, I'm repairing and replacing my losses and about to destroy their SSD and take care of their base once and for all. I'm planning on having a push at the SSD, and damaging it to about %30 and then sending a fleet group to either take care of other ships or the Imperial base. Well, that's the plan.

OOC: Welcome aboard Rattler3 and Jess! ! IC: "On the contrary General, I never said that he did the wrong thing. In fact, I would have done the same thing if I were put in his shoes." Karn then turned to the Cadet and re-itereated the General's question. "So, who is this father the General's talking of?"

Whats your favorite Lightsaber Style?
Krytos replied to dude21's topic in Old Star Wars games nobody plays anymore -JI
I prefer to use the fast style (blue bar), it allows for good defence and quick attacks at your enemies weak spots. I find it suits the Jedi far more than a dark jedi however. If it's Jedi Academy that I'm playing, I use the standard style (yellow bar) with dual light sabers - it's hard to sue and takes a bit of practice, but is by far the best saber type you can use. A saber staff is the easiest to use, though leaves the user open to attack. And a normal lightsaber is the best in betweener. Personally, I never use the strong stance (red). It's powerful, though too slow and leaves the player open to attack. Considerring most opponents I've come up against use this style, the fast style works wounders against them -
Wow! Great site! Your portfolio is terrific! Green Eyes and Evolving caught my attention first off - great work La-Forge

OOC: I'm going to slow my posting here until things settle down. I know I've got exams coming up, Jess has exams coming up. I'll still post, but until we all get free time, it just makes the story very one sided - which I think I've been doing too much So, I'll lay off this for a while - though I'll keep my eye on it, and hopefully soonish (probably mid-november) we can all get back into the full swing of the story

"I'd like to think that any new species we'd meat were peaceful - though you can never garantee that. Remember when the Ssi-ruu were discovered? They were fighting the Bakurans, and the Rebel Alliance/New Republic and Empire went to their aid. "But, then again there's species like the Chiss, who have seemed to be relatively peaceful." Coughing, Karn quickly added onto his own sentence, "Thrawn." Karn gave a quick smirk to his own joke, and continued. "And then there are those in between - like the Noghri. They might have been fighting the Alliance - though that was only under Vader's orders, and that was because he tricked their speicies. "I guess we can only hope that if we meet another speciess from inside or outside our galaxy, that they're friendly."

Well it's official. I now want be able to comment on the DVDs until after my exams. The DVDs were bought as a present/bribe for me to do my work and go good in exams - so, until my final exam on the 11th of November they'll be danglying above my head

Yeah, it's a lot easier to mod then write the game from scratch. Though if Rebellion II isn't going to be a mod - don't try writing your own game engine, it almost always ends in tragedy (I know from personl experice, well actually my brothers experience). I'd say modding would be best. It would most probably be the easiest option, and I think from a prior thread it also avoided some legalalities Though I can't really remember. Imperium Galactica II would be ideal as it is more or less an updated version of Rebellion - it would allow ground combat, modifying ships etc. Pretty much everything that people have suggested in the other threads. Mind you I havn't played it for a long long time - and I'm not even sure where or if I still have it Oh well, that's my 2 cents

What is it?! 'tis a glowing orb! Very nice animation It's seamlessly smooth

Control youselves young Padawans. For you are travelling down the path of the SPAM side of the force. Once there, it is very hard to escape. So bewarey, for the SPAM side's powers are very seductive. Walk the path of the light, stay true and do not stray.

For every step Rantar took, his heart thumped louder and louder. It was a deafening beat that was plaguing his mind and thoughts. It was getting harder and harder to concentrate as he approached the door, every metre, every centimetre he took drew him closer to answers - to answer what had been happening to his world and why. Sweat beaded upon his forehead, his breath was shallow but sharp and his eyes began too loose focus. It had seemed an eternity since he had started down this long hallway, when in reality it had been less than two minutes. His eyes drew back into focus, and before him stood the ancient wooden door at the end of the hallway - with only a shimmer of light etching through its slightly open form. Rantar raised his arm, and stretched out his hand. He rested it gently against the wood, and felt the texture of the paint. With a heavy breath, he pushed open the door and stepped forward into the light . . .

Karn didn't jump right into answering this question. A Strike Cruiser could deal out a fair amount of damage, though was it enough to do any real damge to a MC80? A good captain and crew could concentrate their fire over a small area and open up a weak point on the shields allowing a stray bolt to pass through. Though, the ships hull armour would be able to protect against the type of firepower a Strike could muster for a long time. Even if the MC80 didn't have shields, the best the Strike could do is attempt to knock out the ship's bridge or shields - which was a long shot as well. Though the MC80 had its shields, and assuming the Strike could open up a few weak points in the shields, which would close after a few seconds, it would take a very long time to do any real damage to the Mon Cal cruiser. "No sir, the Strike cruiser didn't have enough time to do any real damage to the MC80." Karn wanted to push the point that the Strike Cruiser was just a distraction, and left unattented would have been able to deal with Karn's own frigate and the diplomats vessel easily. Though Karn had already over stepped his boundaries with the General - he would bring it up once the cadet had left. All he could do now was clench his fist tight enough to turn his knuckles white, though he carefully placed it out of the General's view.

Rantar took each step slowly and carefully as he crept through the dark hallways of the mansion. He had slowed his breathing, and kept low to the floor to avoid being seen. Though from the time he had broken into the mansion, by passed security (easy thanks to his years of service with Vathonir Security) and began searching he hadn't seen a single living creature. It was then, down the long stretch of the hall, light gapped through a crack in a door. Finally, answers. Rantar quikened his pace, though ever so slightly, he didn't want the person in there to hear him. Not yet anyway. Rantar was getting anxious, he could feel the urgancy just to run into that room, though he knew better - he couldn't afford to stuff this up. Not now, not while he's so close. Rantar pulled his blaster closer, and headed down the hall way towards his destiny.

They're fair enough comments, everyone has their own views after all. Here are my responses: It's a good idea, though the new build times are very good in my opinion. This means that smaller support vessels are built to fill in gaps due to their quicker production time, lower costs and unique purposes (like an anti-fighter platform). Earlier versions allowed players to build up massive fleets of Star Destroyers and varying cruisers relatively quickly. Which usually made for a short game. The newer version only allows these fast, early build ups with smaller support vessels - which results only in skirmishes between small fleets that would be hard pressed to do any real damage to shipyards. But then again, that's my opinion. You're not the only one, I think there maybe a few more that have the weird text. Though there's a fix, just download the files at this link - there's a file for improving AI and two for the text fixes (one for the Alliance and one for the Empire), just read the text above the link to know where to put them. Fixes thanks to Evil_Greven Don't forget, they're two different universes - one's Star Wars and the other HomeWorld, they can't really be compared. Personally I like the values for the hulls and shields of most ships - though some smalelr vessels and some larger ones could be stronger (I'm not sure if it's to do with the strength of the ship or if they just get hit easier, though my DSDs and sometimes my Republic SD seem to get damaged really quick even though they're meant to be really strong. The DSD should have stronger shields than and ISD mk II, though under some situations it seems to be weaker) I think Eville said somewhere that he isn't planning on putting in any of the YT series or "hero" ships. I'd like to have ships like that as NPC (non-player characters) randomly in the game, just to add some depth. It would be neat to have some civilian ships (a bit like the transports in privateer mode) just to fly through the map and then jump away - maybe even get into a fight if provocted? Well, those are my responces - if anyone disagrees, feel free to respond We might get a debate going like those between GAT and Scath!

Eville is the creator?!?!? Wow! All hail EvilleJedi and his glorious creations

I know Eville also has created a Warlords mod for Rebellion, which you can download in the TC area of the downloads here.

The greatest deficiency in Star Wars Games
Krytos replied to Stellar_Magic's topic in General Discussion
I have to agree with SM, I'd love to have at least one SW game that incorporates a lot of realistic elements - especially being able to shoot someone in the leg, which cause them to limp, destroy the weaponary an vehicles etc. It would add so much more depth to a game. The rest of the SW games need to at least have some of these realistic elements in them. Especially Stormtroopers, in nearly every game they're nothing more than cannon fodder, easy to kill and really stupid. And most SW FPSs where the main character can take a lot of damage, especially compared to minor characters. -
Karn stared at the General, he wasn't sure what the cadet had done though it was obvious where the General was going with this. Without needing to think about weaponary or anything else about the ships involved, Karn replied. "With out any other factors included, the MC-80 would defeat the Strike cruiser. However, a good captain or strat . . ." Before he got to finish, the General cut him off. Karn never liked repremanding anyone, unless they had done something seriously wrong. Nevertheless, Karn wasn't about to push this point - at least infront of the cadet. He didn't need to get on the bad side of his new CO.
