  1. Well, I decided to check out what my system said: Computer: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ 380 MHz 1.00 GB of RAM 380 MHz! Can that be right! Well, I'm pretty sure it's because the CPU speed varies depending on load - that's what your/my CPU is running at while it was doing. And just to check, I played some Doom III for an hour or four to make sure my CPU was still putting out the power it was meant to, and it ran fine (on medium with anti-aliasing at 4x, 800x600 full graphics) So I wouldn't worry about it.
  2. That was an interesting read. It's a shame that some aspects of the game weren't used, such as these: and A shame these weren't used, the latter more than the former. Perhaps these ideas could be incorporated into Reloaded or something of the sort ? ?
  3. OOC: I guess this might be the last post in this thread, so I'll try to rap up Jess and Tan's adventure on the planet there on. If anyone else wants to continue on, I'll jump back in - though I'm going to concentrate on my other RPGs. IC: The shuttle was now out of the planets atmosphere. Karn could feel sweat on his forhead. The Imperial customs vessel would be in system any minute. With that thought, warning klaxons rang through the ship as the Imperial vessel dropped out of hyperspace. "Sir, there's an . . ." "I kinda noticed," Karn cut off his sensor's officer as he was still waiting for the shuttle to make it back. Fine, we've been running all day - now it's time to fight. "All personal - battle stations. This is not a drill." Karn called over the comm unit. He left Captian Kre'nel to fill in the blank, she began ordering personal around preparing for battle. The ship turned to face the Imperial custom's craft which was between them and the planet. It wasn't large or deadly - though it had enough weaponary to do some bad damage to his ship, something he was trying to avoid. Then things got worse - the Imperial craft changed it's direction towards the shuttle. "Emporer's black bones! They're going for the shuttle - Kre'nel plot an intercept course and load the forward torpedo launchers." Karn winced at loading the custom warhead launchers that he had added to the frigate - they had been known to be "problematic." The frigate's engines blaired to life and began pushing the 200 metre long vessel along an intercept path towards the Imperial ship. Captian Kre'nel spoke up. "Sir, we'll be able to fire on them before they can attack the shuttle - though I'm not sure if that will stop the pursuit." Karn doubted it as well, the normal weapons on the ship wouldn't get the Imperial's attention. Though a pair of torpedoes along with a barrage of energy weapons would. "Fire all weapons that bear on the target, including the warheads." After a few seconds, the weapons on the Reckless Wonderer awoke in a brilliant blaze of red fire. The high powered laser blasts, supported by a few turbolasers collided with the Imperial vessel. The enemy shrugged off the blasts and allowed its sheilds to absorb the damage - stopping almost all blasts from hitting the ship's hull. That was until the two blue plasma clouds errupted along its spine as the proton torpedoes detanated against its shields. Now they had the Imperials attention. Slowly it changed course and headed straight towards Karn's frigate. The sensors on his ship showed the shuttle continuing on its path towards them - it would still take a little while, they would have to battle this out. Red and Green energy bolts littered the space between the two warships. The Imperial vessel began moving away from the planet in an attempt to get ahead of the frigate and cover any jump points. Karn countered this move by heading towards the planet - putting himself between the Imperials and the shuttle. "Full broadside across the Imperials bridge, " Karn yelled. The frigates weapons all fired upon the ships bridge, causing the shields to swell in an effort to absorb all the shots. The Imperial vessel wasn't designed for combat, rather intercepting and boarding. Its shields were able to stop all the energy blasts, though just - this information would work out good for Karn. "The shuttle has just docked, sir." Captian Kre'nel called from the other side of the bridge. "Good, plot an exit vector." "The Imperial vessel is headed for the closest one, should I plot another course?" "No, they'll just go for the next as well. Follow them - it's time to deal with this Imperial pest." The Frigate accelerated to full speed and was heading along the same path as the Imperial. Karn's frigate was faster, though would have to pass the Imperials. Which meant they would try to block his path, not unless the Imperials couldn't move. "Dive the nose of the ship along the current axis for effective firing, roll 5 degrees and concentrate all fire over the enemies engines. Load the warhead launchers with heavy rockets." The frigate altered its vector slightly, pointing a little down from its original path and rolling a little. This allowed almost half the frigates weapons to bare down on the Imperial ship. The weapons from his frigate blazed over the Imperial's rear shields, and it became evident that it was beginning to struggle. Now, he thought. "Concentrate fire at the centre of the engine block and fire warheads!" The energy blasts converged onto a single point and began overloading the shields there. Within 5 seconds a hole in the shields opened allowing the energy blasts to flood through and start ripping apart the engine. The energy fire was followed by a pair of heavy rockets that expoded as they crashed into the ships engines, stopping the customs vessel dead in space. "Now, all available energy into engines and shields - anything that's left put into weapons to hold off the customs vessel. Captain, get us to safety." She noded and began ordering the ship's crew, as the frigate began accellerating towards the nav beacon. As they passed by the customs ship, they were hit by a huge barrage of fire that the ships shields couldn't completely stop. Several blasts got through and hit the frigate's hull, scortching it. Karn grit his teath hoping that they couldn't punch a hole through his ship before they could pass the Imperials. The frigate roared past the Imperial customs vessel, its shields quickly closing the holes that had opened, protecting the armor from any more damage. The frigate arrived at the nav point, still being fired apon at long range by the Imperial ship. The stars then became long stripes, which resolved into a blue swirl. With a sigh of relief throughout the ship, Karn congradualted the ships crew. He turned to Captian Kre'nel to ask their destination. "We're headed towards a near by Rebel fleet. We can drop off our passangers there hopefully." "Good, frankly - I'm sick of today!" The Reckless Wonderer continued travelling through hyperspace, towards its destination . . .
  4. With the sound of the Stormtroopers talking dying away in the distance, Karn removed his hands from his mouth - and then began laughing. "Nice cover Sib!" With that Karn laughed some more, though his laughter was cut short by a quick gab in the ribs by Sib. "What?" Karn replied, holding his stomach, still with a smile on his face. Finally bringing himself under control, Karn got back on track. "Ok, we can't walk out the front door - so we need to find a back door. Afton, you seem pretty good at that, unless our new companion has any inside information?"
  5. "Haha, good to hear!" Karn laughed with T'Char. He was releived that he wasn't working for the Empire. "I guess it's safe to say that you as much love for the Empire as I. Yeah, there's nothing like a Corellian ship though. Fast, robust, powerful and very modular." Karn pulled his drink to his lips and took another sip, letting the taste fill his mouth before he put the glass back down. As he put his glass down he noticed another familur face, this one more familur than T'Char's. Without thinking, Karn called out to Ulric. "Ulric you old ground pounder! Come over here and join us!"
  6. Karn, still in the stolen Stormtrooper armour, leaned over to Afton and whispered, "And here I thought we were came here to save him, not beat him up." Afton didn't respond to his comments, so Karn just shrugged. Karn couldn't really describe Ulric, his face was badly bruised and swollen, he had many areas on his body with dried blood - it was obvious that his interegation had involved beatings. After the lengthy battering Ulric got from Sib in Ryl, Karn cleared his throught to get there attention. "I hate to break up the re-union, but we're still in an Imperial prison. Anyone got any ideas on getting out of here?" Getting in had been easy, though they couldn't go out the way they came - especially with an extra prisoner. Before anyone could talk, in the distance the sound of Stormtroopers marching towards them could be heard. Afton was the first to react, pulling Karn into the cell and closing the door - fortunately not locking it. All four dropped to the floor as they waited for the Stormtroopers to pass. As the body of the Stormtroopers moved by, two voices lingered outside the cell room. Two Stormtroopers had just taken their break outside the room. Great! Karn began pondering whether they could fight there way out of this one. No, Sib was injurred and they had a fourth person who was badly beaten. Even if they took out the two Stormtroopers, there was a base full of them that would undoubtably get alerted. No, they needed another strategy to escape this one. . .
  7. Some of the hate towards the merc left him as he saw the human side in her return - even if it was for an instant. She moved off towards the cockpit again and didn't emerge for a long time. Rantar used this time preciously, he was able to free himself from his cufs and make sure his small vibroblad was well hidden up his under the binders, where he could get to it easily once he was taken to the mercs boss. He then damaged the binders so that he could get them off with little difficulty. He wasn't going to try and take the merc, she seemed more likely to be the one to kill him should hetry and escape. Resting back on the cell floor, with his hands back in the disbled binders - Rantar began to wait, he was waiting for the right time to strike. After a while, he drifted off to sleep, a sleep that was inturpted with a jolt as the ship slowly fell out of hyperspace. Looks like I'm home again
  8. The white armour-clad trooper walked behind Sib and Afton. Raising his E-11 blaster, the trooper yelled out to them. "Freeze Rebel scum." Slowly the two turned around and stared at the Storm trooper with the blaster pointed at them. Neither moved. With a laugh, Karn removed the Stormtrooper helmet and got two of the most evil glares he had ever gotten in his life. "Well, if it fooled you two, it'll fool Stormtroopers!" Karn continued with a grin on his face. "So, if we don't know where Ulric is - lets go ask. But first, Afton - can you give Sib some help with her blaster wound?" *** Karn marched his two prisoners to an Imperial command post several levels down from the surface city of Bespin. An officer was waiting with two of his own gaurds at an unmarked door. Hopefully this is the right one! Karn continued to move Sib and Afton upto the door, and didn't speak until the two were close enough for hand to hand combat if things got nasty. "Sir, I have two prisoners that say they belong with the same rebellious faction as the prisoner caught this morning." The officer arced an eyebrow, he was obviously sceptical of Karn. "Oh, and which prisoner would that be." "My commanding officer told me that it was the one taken off for intense interegation - I know no more about him." "And you CO, what is his name?" "His name was Sergeant Thants. My squad was jumped by these two, and after he ordered me to take these two for interegation a second wave of rebels attacked killing him and most of my unit, sir." Most of what Karn said was true, except it had been Sib, Afton and himself who had been attacked by Sergeant Thants' squad. The officer stared at Karn for a long time and then glanced at the two prisoners. He walked up and kicked Sib's bandaged wound, probably trying to see if was real. She fell to the ground and screemed in pain. The bandage was now stained with fresh blood that was seeping from the wound. "Very well, the other prisoner is down this hall." The officer looked at Afton, "You, help this pathetic creature to its cell." The trio continued down the hall away from the officer and towards Ulric. "You ok Sib?" Karn asked once he was sure no one was around.
  9. The Teaparty - Babylon
  10. Yep, I feel the same way . . . there's just something about him that doesn't sit right. I think so far, both the actors for Anakin in Episode I and II have been bad and I had hoped that Lucas would have hired a new actor for Episdoe III.
  11. Sorry for not posting earlier. I'm alright with computer graphics - I can do some 3D modelling (mainly high detail, hav'nt tried optimised game graphics) and use photoshop. So, any help needed there, I'll do what I can.
  12. Not to start a debate - but I think when the Star Wars stats were made, they tried to simplify different things in SW. Last I heard, those masive quad turrets on the side of the ship were the standard turbolaser like on the rest of the ISD - except being exposed they needed to be armoured which gave them the massive look, thoguh they also have a wider firing angle. Anyway, anyone who wants RPG stats, and can't find the source books - here's a link to an alright (though now old) RPG stat website with official stats (some, however weren't known and have been guested, though they do mention that. And the MC armour values - while official - I personally don't like, some are very high for a Mon Cal cruiser). Anyway, without futher ado: click here A little over board with the link, but I just found out you can put images in with the text for a link If there are any other RPG stats you want, for ships and fighters, PM me - I know a few more that aren't on the site
  13. OOC: Well, I don't think we know each other well - both in and out of the RPG. Though, like you said you know Rantar and they're kinda simular (that and I forgot which RPG I saw you on ). I guess we can introduce ourselves then, start from the beginning as we only know each other in passing. P.S. I live in Victoria - been to Tassy once though - damn nice country side, and lovely Cadberry factory ! IC: Karn smilled. T'char appeared to be searching his memory for when they had met before. "Can't place me? Well no real surprise - we've only met in passing. So, I guess this is a good time to get to know each other. The name's Karn, Karn Macen." Karn said sitting at the bar next to T'Char, at the moment the bar keeper arrived with his brandy. He took a refreshing sip, and put it back down. "Well, were to start? I work for the Rebellion - ah, just don't tell any Imperials. I'm a native Corellian, I own my own ship, a CC-5500 frigate the Reckless Wonderer. She's a bute - 200 metres long Corellian frigate, plenty of weapons and cargo space to do my other jobs . . . ah, I can't tell you about them just yet." Karn caught onto the fact that he was yet to really get to know T'Char, and already he had told him that he was a Rebel and hinted towards being a smuggler for the Alliance as well. Ah, I can always fight my way out of trouble. Karn waited for the Trandoshan to talk, hoping he wouldn't star with Yeah, I'm actually a bounty hunter worknig for the Empire . . . FREEZE! Though, somehow he doubted that. OOC: I'm guessing you're still a Trandoshan like in your other RPG?
  14. Karn thought hard about what Afton suggested. He had contimplated the same thing, though he didn't know much about Sib's boss. Being part of the Rebellion and a smuggler made him overlly cautious when it came to people he didn't know, especially when they were of high power and a shify background such as the Rebellion. He realised that he fitted his own description, and truth be told, he wouldn't trust himself. After all that had happened today, he wouldn't be surprised if there was an ambush waiting for him somewhere along the way. Against his better judgment, Karn aggreed. "Ok, Sib - once you've come around, contact your boss and tell him what we've done." No sooner had he said this did Sib start moving her left leg.
  15. IC: Karn stepped through the door way of the cantina, soaking up the atmosphere. It was dark inside, not an unpleasant darkness - rather a sothing one. The cantina was full of many beings of all different origins and of all different appearances. Karn walked to the bar. "Give me something Corellian - preferably brandy," Karn told the bar keep. It was the first time in months that he had been able to pull away from work within the Rebellion to get some rest. Looking along the bar he spotted a familur face - T'Char. He didn't know him well, though he had met him on occasion yet had never talked. Now seemed like the perfect time. Karn walked up to T'chat and took a seat next to him. "Hey, remember me? Karn." He said sticking out his hand . . . OOC: I agree, great idea!
  16. OOC: Sorry I havn't been able to post until now, uni kinda takes most of the day for me I was going to try let your character grow by figuring out she's from Vathonir (don't kno if you want this or not - I can edit it out though) and seeing if I could coach some sympathy from her? Well as doubtful as it seems I was gonig to try. From there I was going to start some action on planet until the Jedi could come and help - I was thinking about finding out about some consipiracy within the goverment/security force linked to the Vorei and the force attacking the planet Barkoa's on and then throwing a twist by creating my own rebellion and having a nice war on planet. Well, that's the plan for now IC: A long shiver ran down Rantar's spine. And for a moment he felt sick. He found a new hatred and a new reason to keep fighting. "How? HOW COULD YOU." For some reason it all fell into place - this merc that was hired to capture him was also the same person who planted the bomb, who killed almost twenty innicent lives. He wasn't sure how he knew this, only that it was true. "You're a Vathonirian, how could you attack your own planet? How could you kill your own people? Have you no heart? What could have made you do this!!!" Rantar was standing now, his cuffed arms pulling outwards to the limits of the binders - the pain was a relief from the hatred that was buring within. He could feel it now, from deep down in himself, coming to the surface and flooding into the world through his shouting voice. He waited now, eyes fixed towards the cockpit for the responce of the cold blooded killer. OOC: Oh, by the way - I posted on your "Hidden Agenda" thread, if you want it to keep going I'm willing ot help. At the moment I'm ready to get you and Jess off planet., just read the post I made
  17. "Ok, when Sib was on her comm I over heard her being told to take out the jamming beacon next. Though, there's still this Uric . . . Uilc . . ah, whatever his name is, to rescue from Imperial custody." Karn said while crouching down, hidden from sight incase of any Imperials that might be roaming the area. "The way I see it, is we have three choice: one, we take Sib and find some shelter somewhere and have a rest and maybe get some re-enforcements. Two, we go destroy the jamming beacon and let all the Imperials on Bespin know that they have Rebels running around the place. And three, we save Sib's friend first." Karn waited for Afton's responce - and hopefully Sib's, she appeared to be getting some movement back.
  18. These days, I stick to using 3D modelling programs - easier in some respects and you can simply copy them if you want more
  19. Out of all the series, I found the NJO to be one of my favourite - if not my over all favourite - due to its harshness. Too many other novels have the good guys always winning or walking away from a battle unscaved. In the first novel of NJO, a main character dies (I wont spoil who for those who havn't read it ). During the entire series, no character is sacred enough to not be effected and you don't know if a particular character will survive the actual novel let alone the series. Also, the way that the Vong were described was exellent - it wasn't overlly horific, though it didn't underplay their ruthlessness.
  20. I've had the same problem - it appears to be mainly with Mon Cal vessels, perhaps the shape Though, I've had it for a Neb-B and a refinery ship as well in version 0.30. When this occurs, I move my ships elivation up or down from the target - which generally causes them to hit. I've also had it happen for a single salvo for a Titan, nearly all shots missed the hull by less than 20 metres (judging by fighter length).
  21. The accident wasn't too bad - though he got a scar on his face. After Luke has his bacta bath in ESB, you can see a scar on his face - which was from his car accident. I don't remember all the details about the accident either or its impact on the movie - I remember that Lucas added a scene to allow for Hamill's accident (I'm pretty sure it was either the bacta scene or the incedent with the Wampa - but I'm not sure ). Personally, I hardly even notice it in other shots! Infact, other than when Luke is told that Vader is his father - I don't notice it at all. While on the topic of Wampas - here's something interesting from StarWars.com:
  22. The series of novels with the Yuuzhan Vong is called the New Jedi Order - its around 19 novels I think - as well as 1 or 2 e-books. Very good series, and worth the read
  23. Hey BS, I'm working up a quick avatar that I'll send to you later tonight. It's nothing special, though it could be something to work off. I'll edit this post when I'm done with it and put it with the post. EDIT: Ok, originally I was going to simply take the image from Rebellion used for smuggling losses - though for some reason screenshots don't work in rebellion. So, unless any one knows how to rip the image out of the game, I made another version of it at sunset. They didn't come out to great though. Now, the next problem - my local uploader is full, so how do you want to get them? I can easily send them to you - they're only around 1.2 kb. I was able to fit this on before the server was full though. http://members.iinet.net.au/~timmead/uploader/avatar-203.217.35.38-BadSam_avatar_2.jpg This is the first avatar that I did, there is another one in the same setting, just a little different looks wise and a totally differernt one with the ships flying away from a moon.
  24. "Hey you Imperial jack asses, over here." There was no doubt about it, that was Afton's signal. In the following the seconds, his mind blazed, as did his weapons. It didn't take long for the Stromtroopers to be overwelmed by the concentrated fire, soon they lay on the ground dead. "Karn come and fill up on weaponry. You will be needing it," Afton yelled out. Karn was now kneeling on the ground, with both of his blasters lay on the ground as he checked Sib. She wasn't moving, he quickly checked her pulse - a little faster than normal, though she was alive. A sense of relief washed over his body as it confirmed that she was only hit by the stun bolt earleir and not a stray blaster bolt during the battle. Standing up, Karn lifted Sib up supported her on his shoulder. Calling towards Afton, who was heading towards them, he called out. "She's alright - just stunned. Bring me the energy clips of an E-11 and what ever holdout blaster they were using while you're over there." Karn, with a pause, added. "Good plan Afton." The trio then quickly moved, with one being carried, into the back streets before any more Stormtroopers could could attack them.
  25. Yeah, midi-chlorians were stupid, though the explanation given about them was to a child attempting to come to terms with "the Force" - midi-chlorians could be significantly different to the children version of the explanation. It's like telling children about germs, you say that they're tinny little creatures that go into your body and do bad things to make you sick. Not far from the truth - though there are a lot of miss perceptions in it. So, I'd like to think that this is simular to Lucas' midi-chlorian comment in episdoe 1. Perhaps, midi-chlorians are like vornskrs and are attracted to the force - so the stronger you in the force, or the more control you have, the more of them you would have in your body living off the force energy? Oh well, just a theory
