  1. OOC: Hey Jess - I've been trying to keep up with both sites, though my homework has been getting the better of me. I'm going to try and start there, though I wont be there much. Speaking of which - don't excpect to see me here to much for at least a week
  2. OOC: The longer the better in my opinion Tchar makes for a good read
  3. Perhaps people should only post once a day per RPG? That way it gives the other people an entire day to catch up. I find the time region problem extends to other areas of the forum as well, where you'd like to post - but by the time you read the thread or get time to post others have continued on and you get left behind.
  4. Smilling, Karn replied. "As soon as possible. We need those Imperials to try and solve some little problems the Empire have cooked up. I'm glad you accepted the mission, it should be a blue milk run - just picking up Imperials from downed escape pods. Though, don't underestimate them - they'll probably put up a fight if they get the chance." Ulic got up, and headed for the doorway - his face showed the signs of intense thought. As he exited the room, Karn called out to him for a quick tease. "Hey Ulic, be careful out there - if anything goes wrong, I wont hisitate to call the entire task force down to help. Well, actually, it'll be more like any ship I can convince to go AWOL. Which means it'll just be me . . . ah, don't get into any trouble down there." Ulic smilied as he exited the room, and Karn did as well. For the first time in quiet a long time, Karn was beginning to feel like his old self again.
  5. IC (Lieutenant Varn): With two troopers at his side with glow rods, Lieutenant Varn viewed his surroundings. His first responce was to laugh as there was obviously no Rancor or any other creature in the corridor. It was merely blackened by the lack of light and the scarring of weapon fire. His humourous mood was broken by a Stormtrooper calling to him and pointing to an opened vent. Varn moved off towards the vent, with the two troopers following fast behind him. The Lieutenant reached the vent after a slow stroll down the extents of the corridor. When he reached the spot under the vent, Varn realised that it was more than stray blaster fire - the vent cover had been blastered, judging from the angle, it was from right where he was standing, though a lower angle. "Blast," Varn muttered. "I need two search parties assembled now. They are to search this vent shaft - both directions." Varn turned excpecting to see the Stormtroopers around him already moving off, though they stayed put waiting for his final order. "NOW!" Varn yelled allowing his anger to feed through his words. The troopers broke apart into search groups and began following the vent shaft. Varn exited the dark corridor and moved to a communication post. I wont be the one to take the fall for this mistake.
  6. OOC: Sounds good Jess! If you want, I can work your Ewok character (that's if you're still using it) into helping Ulic find some Imperial's on planet. IC: "Looks like I'm not the only one looking for a job these days," Karn said with a grin. Ulic had just entered Karn's quarters and taken a seat when Karn began briefing him on his mission. "Though, we wont get time to talk about the old days. I need you for a pretty important mission. I need you to go down to the planet Hefi - with out any ties to the New Republic - and "rescue" some stranded Imperials on the planet. And in your good will, you can drop them off to the Republic fleet for their "debriefing". "I can authorise you the use of any equipment on board the task force, though no personal that are part of the New Republic. So anyone you take are either off duty or not part of the New Republic." Ulic's face was unreadable as he considered the offer Karn was giving him. If he chose not to accept, Karn didn't know if there was any other way of getting the Imperials into New Republic custody before they were apprehnded by the local authorities. He could only hope his old friend was up to the mission, and accept it.
  7. Hey all, Quick update before I head off to uni. I spent 5-10 minutes just changing a few things on the model like the-mask suggested. I think it looks a lot better, and it's still under 2000 polys I'm thinking about dropping a bit of the detail on the engines. They taper, which is hard to see especially in Rebellion, so I think I'll drop that to make the model a little more poly friendly Actual ship http://img24.exs.cx/img24/5176/majestic-heavy-cruiser06.jpg The Bridge http://img24.exs.cx/img24/5079/majestic-heavy-cruiser09.th.jpg Antenna things under the ship http://img24.exs.cx/img24/4287/majestic-heavy-cruiser08.th.jpg Gun thing on the wing tip http://img24.exs.cx/img24/1634/majestic-heavy-cruiser07.th.jpg The engines http://img24.exs.cx/img24/8601/majestic-heavy-cruiser10.th.jpg Well, that's it for now - I porbably will only get a chance to change the engines before I'm hard pressed by uni studies . . . agian, so textures are unfortunately going to be a while
  8. OOC: Woo! 100 I think I'll add an evil Imperial officer now IC: After the laughter settled down, the group collected themselves and tracked back to the corridor. Once they entered it, the dark corridor didn't seem so scary now, and they walked to the far end without any mishaps. There, the group spent several painstakingly long minutes searching for an exit. Sib was the one to find a small vent, high up on a wall. Without the lights it was difficult to find, though the crude welding to keep it shut was an obvious give away. The group gathered around the vent and began thinking of ways to get through. *** "Lieutenant Varn. We've brought in the heavy equipment like you ordered." This was the crackly voice a Stormtrooper whom Micale Varn didn't care to know his name. He had sent him off to get in contact with the orbiting Imperial fleet in order to bring down heavier weaponry to deal with what is believed to be a Rancor. Frankly, Varn didn't care for the excuses the squad leader had given him. On the unlikely chance there was a Rancor on Bespin city, a squad of Stormtrooper could deal with it accordingly. They would undoubtedly loose a few men - though with a few grenades and thermal detonators the Rancor wouldn't be a problem. Nevertheless, the squad had retreated and sending them in now would mean the entire squad would be meeting the creature at point blank and would undoubtedly get wiped out. Varn didn't mind loosing a few troopers, though an entire squad would look bad for him - something he didn't need. Varn's thoughts were rudely interrupted by the white figure in front of him restlessly moving. "Very well. Equip your soldiers accordingly and begin unsealing the door. Use the flechete cannons first to hold the creature back, and once your men our out of harms way - deploy the missile launchers. "I'm not sure how much it takes to kill a Rancor, though I believe four of your men with portable missile launchers should deal with the creature rather easily." The Stormtrooper moved off and began gearing up his squad. Troopers strapped on additional armour over arms, legs and in some instances completely changed their armour for the heavier duty armour given to those who deserve it. Four of the troopers moved away from the pack and found firing positions for their missile launchers, while and addition six moved to the door with their flechete cannons. The remained used their E-11 blasters. With a flash of light, the lead Stormtrooper began unweilding the door. *** A bright shower of sparks sailed down the door at the far end of the corridor. In an instant, Karn and the others had seen what was happening and now began acting. Afton's quick hands brought out her blaster, which removed the problem of the welded vent door, while the rest boosted Sib up, who helped the rest in the vent shaft. Squeezing down the shaft, Karn called to whoever was at the front of the group. "Watch out for booby traps - who ever set up the Rancor trick might have booby trapped this vent." No sooner had he said that, did the doors in the corridor fly open . . .
  9. Blue and white lights flickered across furry Kre’ Nel's face as she searched the databank on the Republic Task force. She and Karn had been looking for someone to send down to the planet on a special mission, and time was of the essence - yet, neither could find anyone on board the Task Force suited to the job. They were in the small briefing room aboard his ship, using the it to access the task force's computer network. Karn rubbed his poorly shaven face in frustration. He was about to give up when the Kre' Nel called him. "Sir, I think I've found something." Walking over to her computer, Karn started to read what she had found. A large smiled arced across his face as the name the Bothan had highlighted brought memeories of an old friend back. "Well, I don't belive it! What's that old pirate doing here? Kre' Nel - contact Ulic and get him over here ASAP. Tell him I've got a job right up his alley, tell him it'll remind him of Bespin - though this time the shoes on the other foot." Captain Kre'Nel headed off towards communications as Karn straightened his back. Turning to her as she left, Karn quickly got in a few words before she left the station. "Oh, and Biree - stop calling me sir." As she exited the room, and with a hint of laughter, she called from around the corner, "Yes sir."
  10. Karn bowed his head in memory of the terrible trajedy that occured at Alderaan. He had only been a teenager when it occured - though its memory haunted him about how evil some people can truely be. Raising his head, Karn contineud in a soft voice. "I don't think anyone or any culture could ever recover from such a thing." Raising his glass, Karn toasted those that died on that terrible day. "To all of those who lost their lives on Alderaan - may that type of terror and destruction never pass through this galaxy again."
  11. Shock and terror possessed Rantar as the figure on the chair drew into focus. At once Rantar felt betrayed and confused, and all the fight in him had in that instant been washed away. He stepped backwards, only to find his legs betray him as well. Falling backwards, Rantar quickly rolled to his feet and reached for his weapon. “You wont need that here Rantar, my old friend,â€
  12. Hmm . . . not really sure exactly what the moderators do. What I do know they basically stop any swearing for starters - that's a big no no. They try to stop spamming, though that really depends on the thread and what's being spammed about. Hmm, I think the other thing they stop is stupid posting - like arguments that are getting ugly, posts about nothing or stupid topics. They're pretty lenient and will give you a warning if you do something wrong. Just remember, this site is viewed by people of all ages - so make comments appropriate. It's a forum and not a chat room, so don't spam and try to let others comment (remember time zones ). Don't attack others, if they upset you reply in a calm manner telling them what they've done, but don't dwell on the problem. If someone keeps annoying you either over a thread or PM, don't take it into your own hands - contact a moderator. Yeah, that's about it
  13. OOC: Ok. I figured that you were very busy with something like the last year of high school or equivalent. Hmm, well I'll post later in the week when I get some more time - though I just realised a few things: 1) If we find this other faction, we've got no-one to play them. 2) In essence, there's no real enemy, as we play them we know what's going to happen - and I havn't seen ADarkJedi44 in this thread for a long time And 3) I had planned on getting back with BobandRupert's character - though after reading through the last few pages he's left this RPG So, I guess we can improvise and play multiple characters? ?
  14. I'd like some single player missions - maybe not campaign style, rather a choice of doing different battles. This way there'd be no impact on future games, you play either side and you still get to be part of the action. Some battles that I'd like to see: Escape from Hoth Battle of Endor Battle of Coruscant Battle of Bilbringi (against Thraw, and here he doesn't have to die ) Battle of Yavin (not with the Death Star - the one with Daalla) Something involving the Mon Remonda Battle of Mon Calamari (World Devestators, not Daala's sneak attack) Hmm, actually after readying the NJO a lot of Imp vs. Alliance battles avade me P.S. Congrats GAT on reaching 1000 posts
  15. That's cool, I mean it's very easy to mix-up a Star Destroyer just by reading over the initials. I mean look at them all: VSD, ISD, RSD, SSD, DSD, ASSD, ESSD, SSSD and there's probably more And most only have one letter different.
  16. Yeah, I definetely agree with you there Mask, the fins on the bridge are pretty hard to see. The things on the wings (Idon't know if they're guns or whar ) could use some work too. I made them without depth to try and get a lower poly count - because I'm not really sure of the poly count I should be aiming for. Judging by the models in Rebellion, low - though the download section has some that are pretty high. I guess I'll keep it under 2000. At least it has fewer polys than my K-Wing model Um, I think it was first from Cracken's Threat Dossier. Though, I've never seen a copy of CTD in Australia, so I spent a while trying to find official stats and a picture. I only got the picture earlier this year - so, I've had no-idea what it (as well as most of the CTD ships) look like. It's part of the "New" class of warships by the New Republic - it packs a nice punch as well as being quite strong. It's armed with 30 heavy turbolasers, 20 laser cannons, 20 ion cannons and 8 concussion missiles. It's faster than an ISD and has simluar hull armour and shielding to the ISD. Several sources said it could carry around 3-4 squadrons of fighters and others said no fighters, so I'm not sure about this Especialy considering the Defender class Carrier, which is the same length, speed, more shielding though has a lot of cargo and only 20 laser cannons has six fighter squadrons. Then again it could be cheaper, or . . . ah, I might as well just stick to what is known and which I think is better I really have to give this a shot All I need is time now - damn uni
  17. Thanks Darth_ramoth I need to find the time, and patience, to figure out texturing still I live in Upwey, Victoria - near . . . well, not much really. Very few people have heard of where I live Umm, it's near Ferntree Gully, Belgrave ah . . . . pretty much east of Melbourne, in the hills/sticks - ever heard of Puffying Billy? I live near in that area.
  18. IC: Karn stepped onto the bridge of his ship. The dull light arced across the metallic floor illuminating crude rivets and welds where over the years his ship had been repaired or modified. The Reckless Wanderer had moved into an escort position for the Alderaan so it could be used as a temporary base of operations for intelligence gathering. The bridge of his ship was eerily silent, with the exception of two technicians and a few droids, the bridge was empty of the usually commotion of crewmen doing their jobs. Finding his way to his chair on the bridge, Karn sat down heavily and allowed himself to slouch. He had sent Sergeant Brandei to gather any equipment necessary for their intelligence mission. Mean while, he'd been setting up his ship for the necessary modifications that the New Republic were going to perform, as well as setting up space for the other equipment and personal coming aboard. Karn was frustrated and tired. Organising his hip to have these modifications done without a shipyard present made things far more complicated. Worse, Karn was still searching the fleet for someone to go planet side and try and round up any Imperials that escaped the destruction of the Strike Cruiser. He couldn't send any Republic ships due to the political side of things - he needed someone independent that could go to the planet without the Hefians knowing what was going on and without getting the New Republic into trouble. Karn closed his eyes and began to drift off to a much-needed sleep. Though it was short lived as a Republic technician awoke him. “Sir, we’ve installed the new equipment and tested it all – it appears to be functioning perfectly.â€
  19. Well, I'm planning on trying to mod Rebellion some time soon. I'm pretty much just going to try and change the units to ship from post-BFC and pre-NJO. Anyway, here's my first low poly model of a Majestic class Heavy cruiser that I threw together today. I havn't done any real textures yet - and I wont get to until after my exams. Tell me what you think - any critism is welcome http://img27.exs.cx/img27/682/majestic-heavy-cruiser05.jpg http://img27.exs.cx/img27/1173/majestic-heavy-cruiser04.jpg http://img27.exs.cx/img27/7237/majestic-heavy-cruiser03.jpg http://img27.exs.cx/img27/9799/majestic-heavy-cruiser02.jpg It has a 1544 faces and is the lowest detail model I've ever done
  20. Actually, that's the Victory mk I Star Destroyer. Secondly, the other ships were only lending support. I'd assume that an ISD mk II under the same cercumstances would fair far better and be able to take out the ISD mk I and continue to engage those vessels that were supporting it before being destroyed. Nevertheless, even if those ships were fully engaged, the DSD should have been able to do more than scratch the ISD's shields. http://img2.exs.cx/img2/5788/ss00901.jpg I reloaded the game, and tried a second time - with simular results, except this time I didn't damage the shields rather the hull armour. The pic above shows the damage the ISD took, I'd show the damage of the DSD - though it's destroyed. This time I tried some other things to test it further. At a range greater than 10 km (I wasn't able to get closer ever without being destroyed in a few seconds when the rest of the Imperial units engaged) an average of 1 in 4 shots of the DSDs hit, and salvos of 4 shots was mainly what it fired - with long delays between salvos. http://img2.exs.cx/img2/9951/ss00888.jpg It's concussion missile launchers never fired (even though some Imperial warships was firing its own at my DSD at a range of 16 km), the first salvo of heavy turbolasers it fired appeared to be half of the forward facing weapons. Later when it tried to fire these weapons, there were only mussle flashes and nothing more. This was the largest salvo of weapon fire from the DSD, roughly 14 - 15 blasts. Something I did notice though, was the ion cannons fired at a rate simular to the turbolasers - eventhough there are far fewer ion cannons. http://img80.exs.cx/img80/7093/ss00886.jpg I reloaded again and attacked once more, this time though I retreated in a hope to bring the ISD out of the Imperial base so a second DSD could engage it one one one. At a range of 22 km, while I was retreating, the ISD could still hit the DSD with most of its weapons, more than 3/4 of its shots hit. When I turned to attack, not a single shot hit the ISD. Another test was when there wasn't an ISD present, this test only lasted a few minutes, though it was to test the strength of a DSD. It attacked a crusier shipyard while being engaged at long range by support vessels and some base structures. It started off as expected, with the DSD getting very little damage - though firing even fewer weapons at the shipyard than at the ISD. After about half a minute, the shields on the DSD began to drop at a steady rate, and I was forced to pull the DSD out once the shields reached around 75%. It was able to take out the crusier yard - though that was only after 7 E-Wing and 7 XJ-Wing squadrons did a torpedo run on the ship yard and left it in ruins. In summary, the DSD appears to be weaker than it should be (even the armour value at the bottom of the screen states that it's about 20,000 hitpoints weaker than an ISD which has the same hull armour), it doesn't fire all of it's weapons and it can barely hit anything anymore. In earlier versions, when the DSD didn't have shields, it faired better in combat and was able to take on an ISD mk I or mk II and cause significant damage - it's only lacking was it didn't have shields so it couldn't continue a pitched battle.
  21. Well, I just saw Aliens versus Predator the other day - and I've decided to put in the good movie catagorie. Still, I think it's a rent the video type of movie. It's extremely predictable and follows the formula of Alien 3 and Predator 2 - I would have liked it to be along the lines of either Alien or Aliens. Still, it's no-where near as bad as reviews I had read and heard. It has it's good points and it's bad. Something that I was glad about was that the movie didn't contridict (too much) the other movies in the series or games. I'll leave it at that so I don't spoil any of it for those who havn't seen it -after all, there are a few twists
  22. I was just playing a game when my DSD took on an ISD mk I. The ISD had some fire support from a pair of Eidolon and an Enforcer. Nevertheless, my DSD was destroyed in very quickly without doing much if any damage to the ISD's shields let alone hull. The DSD is meant to be a reival for an ISD mk II - with less firewpower, though better shielding, warhead launchers, faster and smaller ie. harder to hit. An ISD mk I therefore should have little chance of beating a DSD or ISD mk II. It seemed as if the DSD was substantially weaker than the ISD in both firepower and shielding as well as it could barely hit the target - at a range of 17km, less than half the shots hit. It also appeared as if several guns were firing though there was no actual energy bolts visible and only the weapons on the ship's nose were firing - no weapons beyond (a little later on the bridge heavy turbolaser fired). I looked at their hitpoints and the ISD has 20,000 more hit points - even though they have the same hull value (both are 7D, the ISD has a shield value of 3D and the DSD has 5D). There seems to be a simular problem with hitting targets with the Republic Star Destroyer - although it appears to fair better than the DSD and is cheaper.
  23. The light burned Rantar’s eyes, the same eyes that had spent an hour adjusting to the pitch black of night. The room was a small workroom, at the far end there was an expensive chair facing the other way pointing at a holodisplay. An old holo drama was playing, and who ever sat in the chair hadn’t noticed Rantar’s entry. He crept up to the chair, every step painful with anxiety racing through his body. Placing his had on the chair’s edge he spun it around to confront his journey’s end.
  24. There's actual single player? I thought it was soley multiplayer/skirmish P.S. I'm planning on getting the game as soon as exams are over
