  1. Well, I was meant to get a newer version of illustrator last week - but that fell through. The newer versions had this some nifty stroke effects for paths to make them look more drawn .. so far I've just got a basic outline of a pencil, and was hoping to give it a better feel with a simple click If you still want it, and don;t need vector, I'll throw it into PS and rasterise it up.
  2. OOC: Very nice Tofu! You've raised the bar on RP writting quality since the days of Stella Magic. Crap .. now I've got to compete
  3. Well, first off - congrats on getting to that reading. That's an effort in itself. Unfortunately I don't remember the story itself - but I remember you talking about it, and how your sister (I think) got an autograph from one of the actors from The Cube. Second, I know sort of how you feel - I've had similar (albeit under different circumstances) experiences. Most of my experiences don't revolve around something as sensitive as autism, however do keep true to the limited research. Actually, by my standard that's quiet a bit of research Well, at least for the experiences I'm thinking of. For me, I get to pass it off as .. wow, I rock - here comes an ego trip! For you, well - don't see it as "I've taken the low road and gotten far" so much as "I looked into it, understood the content and was, most importantly, capable of portraying the correct content to my audience. Next time, I can and will do more." Because lets face it, that's what you've done. You've obtained your research through primarily second hand resources that, I guess could be considered third hand even. For those who don't know, first hand research is when you go out and do it yourself. Second hand is when you read someone else's research as a basis for your own or as a basis of a report. This is what pretty much everyone does, you will read facts that someone else has obtained. Third hand, I cannot be sure if that's a legit term but we've used it in uni a bit during business studies, is effectively going to the next step - where you research is based around someone else's research where that research is second hand to start with ... did I confuse you? Cool. So, Wikipedia articles and The Times articles would be second hand, they're not going to be doing research first hand - and seeing as you used them as research that makes them third hand. Now ... wait ... what the hell was I on about? ... oh yes. You did do research and you obviously was able to see deep enough into it to create a convincing portrayal. There's nothing too bad about that. Sure, in retrospect it would be nicer if you'd had first hand experience with the subject - but that isn't exactly possible for a high school student. While these less than compassionate words won't bring comfort. In the coming days, weeks maybe, you'll see that you didn't do anything wrong and what you're really longing for is self perfection and the want to do better. That it felt easy, too easy. And from experience, if this is what you feel - don't give in and take the easy path then, push yourself. Even if you'd get an A for doing mediocre work in your books, do more. There's nothing worse than looking back and realising that you've lost your peak, that you became lazy in academic life. (experience talking). I guess an analogy of your experience is - you wanted to be handed lemons to make lemonade (works better) but you were given the ingredients instead. With either you can go wrong, but you still managed to make some fine tasting lemonade that everyone liked. Now, I'd like a glass - $0.50 enough?
  4. Everyone likes birthdays! *Long and kinda boring
  5. Argh! What pricks! I heard Valve were being ****s with a lot of their games. I just though it was things like the gun price market for CS:S that no-one wanted and no-one seems to like. But that, that's just low - EA low
  6. I guess saying I've only ever seen snow twice in my life doesn't help ... Then again ... I guess it was just that one time as a kid when I was driven to the snow ... the stuff at my house was more of sleet
  7. Nice stuff J! ! Likewise Def, nice design. Can't think of another name though
  8. Half Life is a fabulous game - enjoy it! Second Life ... well, any game you have to pay for more than once is stupid in my opinion
  9. Ah, my first car was a series 2 RX-7 (The pic isn't of my car - but same colour and alloys). Fantastic car, great for cruising and taking on the windy roads around the hills I live in. Of course, it had a few down sides - it was a Japanese 2+2 seater ... so it sat two average heighted people comfortably - or my tallish mates some what less comfortably. The back seats ... well, lets put it this way: If a Five year old complains about leg room Engine was on its way out as well. Needed to have the engine and carbie rebuilt - it's not often you can say your 1.3 drinks almost as much fuel as a modern, albeit cheap, 5.7 litre V8 ... even if it's an old and worn rotary I miss that car - so much character, like not wanting to start when it was to cold ... or when it was to hot ... or back firing violently on hot days at petrol stations ... or being able to break into it with a stick ... or knowing just the right place to hold the choke to turn it over and then ever so slowly feed it back in ... or fish tailing during a U-turn when you barely touched the accelerator ... or having the rear end come out unexpectedly when rounding the corner ... or trying to kill you when it was wet ... or coming home with a story on how you escaped a crash when the car unexpectedly did something crazy like go side ways ... you get the jist

  12. I'm so sorry to hear this GMC My hopes and prayers go out to you and your family mate. Stay strong.
  13. A little effect from photoshop on one of those photos I posted. The history brush, after desaturating the image to grey scale. The art hisrtory brush is used to restore the image to an older form as selected in the history tab - so in this case, after making the image grey scale you can paint back the colour. So simple! And great for adding contrast and focus to an image. http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/2074/historybrush02ws6.th.jpg And a model: A Light Assault Vehicle (LAV) based transport for the New Republic (or if they don't want it, some other guy!). Capable of transporting ... maybe 8 people into battle (having looked into that yet ) on a repulsor chasis at 400 kph this can then back the soldiers up with a decent medium blaster cannon intended on saturating light to medium targets (think the 30mm cannon on a M2 Bradely ... or maybe the new Rheinmetall MLG 27) and engage heavier units with 4 retractible missile launchers. Umm, other made up stuff ... yeah. http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/5954/lav01es4.th.jpghttp://img99.imageshack.us/img99/9880/lav02tg5.th.jpg
  14. I'll try to make a pencil in illustrator tonight and/or tomorrow ... black and white good?
  15. G'day blah, from another Aussie. Welcome to the forums and enjoy Actually, I thought only the UK version was Supremacy? My version, as well as others I saw in stores, is labelled Rebellion ... Meh, Tomato - tomato I guess
  16. Just for those interested
  17. The armour clad soldiers slowly crept along the jungle floor. Once white armour painted in various shades of green, camouflaging them with the surrounding foliage. Slowly, the squad of soldiers reached the edge of the jungle giving them a concealed view into the remains of one of the main villages. Peering through electro-binoculars, Lt. Carnor surveyed the area. There was a large, open area before the town. Flat and barren, it lasted at least a kilometre before the first building of the town. A perfect kill zone. And a kill zone created by those who lived on the planet, wanting their little township to remain neat and tidy. Neat and tidy and a pain in the butt. A kilometre to cross, with no cover. Carnor cursed under her breath. They'd painstakingly taken two days to cross terrain that took a quarter of the time, all in the name of avoiding contact with the enemy. “Contacts? Anyone?â€
  18. All I can get is: Star Wars - but that makes no sense
  19. Haha, I always put down a fake company name on programs I install: "Krytos Interactive" I'll pass you onto to the employment department, just prepare a resume and portfolio and we'll organise an interview. Do you live near Victoria

    300

Well it is based on Frank Miller's 300, which was a graphic novel based on the events we're all talking about. So, historical fact will be thin I'd imagine, in place of Frank's personal view and graphical interpretation. So, don't go in expecting to see something of historical fact - go in thinking it's based on comic book, because it is
  21. You would think that, wouldn't you? But alas, time is up and no job. All pretty much wanted a year or so of employment, or simply didn't support work placement. I had a really close one with one game studio, where they were waiting on their contractor to approve it. But after waiting a week since the last response, I simply ran out of time So, thanks to my Uni which has done nothing to help with a job, I'm forced to par-take in a series of projects instead. sigh

I've seen the trailer, a while ago infact. I was happy to hear some NIN playing, and I rather like the filtering effect used in the movie. I'm a fan of Frank Miller's other work .. the little I've seen .. and am hopeful for the movie - but there's something about it that isn't getting me excited. Not sure why either.
  23. Thanks guys But I can't really take the credit seeing as I followed someone elses tute
  24. That is sick .... This one stinks bilk.. Supporting vigilantes?
  25. Go kitty go! Fabulous work, J
