Who Is your Favourite Jedi and why?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in General Discussion
And how do you know that. That doesn't seem to fit, since why would Qui-Gon order a clone army? -
Just be gald the AI doesn't use it agains you, though. Loosing your largest ship due to a superlaser would be rather irritating.

What new force power can you come up with?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in General Discussion
I think that in the original movies C-3PO was good for comic relief. The same for R2, and that only increased when they were together. In the prequals, well, they're jsut sad. Lucas is trying too hard to make them funny. I nearly lost my lunch at all the bad punns made in the battle between the Jedi and the Battle Droids. -
What are Evillejedi's sources for ship stats?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to pnakotus's topic in Warlords (Homeworld 2)
Trust me, the Executor is more than worth the RU you pay for it. I haven't experienced any weapon range problems because of the size, but the weapon recharge time is a bit long. There should be rotating batteries of turbolasers that fire, not just bursts. If you build the Executor, you don't really need any other ships. I have yet to have mine take any damage in battle. -
I've been looking for the original Han image that was suppose to be used for Rebellion, but was for some reason replaced with the piece of crap one we've got now. I've found the image, but it's too bloody small to be used for the larger images in the game. Does any one know where I can get this image of Han: http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RQD9Ai4VhewoF5WdVqRgb0H7rAa9q5qAVOGcNxX6dJQSO0YMKfzEuVe9LwE9FZuYCOLJTzlnDCX4ICdnx3!wJfhWDvWPdxqPw*WzRDU!6YI/han.jpg I like it a lot more than the one we've got. Also, I found an image of some other ship on the LA website that I guess the Rebellion was suppose to get, but never did. Any one know what this is: http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SQDlAuwWs2cLB8aw1W5WTCfF!oP63xNQtol5ebqG78i3aabrtpgccFdluZLpcpfUs0vVW2WIgnI0GokQW3zRbLCwkKB73Hh7kRMLmbk1od3!VcU*Zo*s3A/whatthe.jpg Any help would be much apreciated.

I made the pic in 256 colours. It's only when I load it into RebEd that it messes up. It doesn't end up looking too bad though.

Pre ANH Roleplay: The Start!!!
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to ElvisMiggell's topic in Role Playing - 1
The rebels were quick to respond to the Imperial's arrival, fighters accelerating to engage the oncomming fighters, the few picket ships and cruisers forming a haphazard defencive line between the Imperial fleet and the shipyards. Admiral Noreto's battlegroup had started to break away from the Vengeance and her charge, preparing to execute his part of the plan. Thrawn's three Victory II Star Destroyers were in the front of the group, thier smaller weapons easily picking off the few rebel fighters that came too close, while the three Imperial Star Destroyers held pace behind, holding thier fire. Ahead the rebel defence fleet grew closer, their commander having overcome his surprise and now moving towards the attacking ships. All was proceeding as planned. "Captain Chiraneau, begin a countdown starting at ten minutes. Signal to all ships that our opponent has been roused, and their reenforcements will arive in that amount of time." "Aye, sir. Should I also transmit to the Admiral?" "No, he has his own tasks to attend to." The battle was becoming more fierce around the Vengeance as more rebel fighters launched, a few breaking through the line and attacking the ISDs, only to be quickly vaporized. A bright red flash errupted on the bridge shielding, an enemy laser bolt hitting home, but being absorbed by the heavy shields. The battle true battle was under way. -
Who wants a Star Wars Strategy Game?

I guess as long as you had enough firepower to counter-balance the lack of troops, it would be an effective weapon. Loud htough . -
Who wants a Star Wars Strategy Game?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in Outside Interests
Well, a life size model wouldn't be too hard... for a construction team and an army of engineers, but it is possible. A working AT-AT is another story. -
BadSamaritan:I customized a lot of the ranks for characters. Note that Veers is a General, but Covell is a Major. The same with Pallaeon being a captain. Thrawn is the only Grand Admiral, but there are some others who have customized admiral ranks, such as Jerjerrod, who is now a Moff. I'll refine it later, I'm just testing it out (for 8000 days ). I want to be sure that all of the characters have authentic ranks. Only a few of my rebel characters are customized. I'm not sure if I'll replace the Admiral rank with General for them. I've never really understood why they have both. Krytos:There are two possibilities for this. First, I press Alt+Print Screen. There is some obscure difference between pressing it with/without Alt, but it seems to work for me. If that's not what it is, I've been running a third-party program in the background that is suppose to take screen shots. Try the first tactic, and if that doesn't work I can get you the program. EDIT:I've just done a test, and the Alt+Print Screen only works with the third-party program. Fortunately it's very small. Here is the link. Just ren the program in the background, pres Alt+Print Scree, minimize the game and open an imaging program and paste from the clipboard. Hope it works for you!. http://www.msnusers.com/EmpireoftheHand/Documents/uosu140.zip UPDATE:Just a small update. I've played the next 1000 days, but only two major events have occurred. First, Thrawn's fleet was attacked while blockading a rebel planet. Both fleets were heavily armed, but in the the Imperials won out, though the loss of almost 100 fighter squadrons and two ISD IIs will be felt. The second major event was the natural disaster that took place on Coruscant. Normally this would be no big deal, however, all of my major production was being done at Coruscant with 7 of each production facility type on the planet. I've been forced to spred my production out, which makes more sense tactically, though it hurts my production schedules.

"Can ‘Star Wars: Episode III’ be saved?"
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Trejiuvanat's topic in General Discussion
He went with the CG stuff because it is easier to do. Think of the effort to create all of those ships in the form of little models, then creating the capitol ships, then finding a way to make them all move together, do things that rae a little bit more fancy that fly across the screen, and put in the lasers and explosions. It would be damn near impossible. The same can be said for the clone battle. Remember on Hoth how there were very few soldiers? Well, that would be the same thing for the clone battle if he had not used CG. The AT-ATs were sort of animated, more so than any CG rendering I've seen so far. If we look at the CG redos from the special edition, it doesn't look too bad. I for one am glad he's made the change, but I hope the release on Sep. 21 isn't a big let down, and that the controversial changes don't ruin it. Ok, I'm now off topic. Please continue with original topic. -
Who Is your Favourite Jedi and why?

Maybe GL planns on contradicting the Database and have it so that Palpy was said master, and changed his idendtity to continue his planns for domination. Or, maybe he was just as they said, a Jedi master who was sucked in to Palpatines web, or Dooku's, and paid the ultimate price for it... or maybe he was Palpatines Master and was killed by his apprentice, since that's how the sith work. EDIT:There, fixed. gninrom siht cixelsid m'I. -
It's been almost four years since I las played a game of Rebellion, but I've since dusted off that lovely jew-case, inserted the disk, and enjoyed hte brief Imperial March before clicking play... and listening to it again. I started off eas, so I'm playing a standard game on a small galaxy, on easy. The first thousand or so days were frought with small fights with the rebels. They liked to immediately assault planets I'd taken, so I had to start building picket fleets. Perhaps I've gotten a bit ahead of myself here, though. First, I have made some changes using RebEd. I've replaced two characters, one for each side, with cards created by a fantastic artist from the old days. Can't recall his name, but when you see the pic of one of them, you may recognise his work. So, Boba Fett is now a character for the Empire, with excellent espionage and combat skills, though he lacks in the diplomacy and leadership (which doesn't matter, since he can't command). The rebels have been given Ben Kenobi. Sure, he's suppose to be dead, but two Jedi for the Rebels, one of whome can train Jedi before Luke goes to Degobah and later faces Vader, well, that makes it more challenging. Also, all ships have been halved in cost (except for the SSD and the Death Star, both of which have been tripled in cost), hyperspace travel time has been halved, and some of the rebel ships have been doubled in the firepower department (Mon Cals, Corellian Corvettes, Neb-B's, just to make it interesting). Back to the story. After about 1500 days the core worlds are pretty much stable, though the rebels still contol most of the Corellian secotor, and I haven't taken the time to assault Yavin. So I think I'm in the clear when... BAM the rebels attack three of my planets in quick succesion, with the same fleet (who's idea was it to lower hyperspace time?), and control three planets in the Seswenna sector. If not for the fleet above Imperial Centre, I would have lost the capitol. Taking back these three planet is not as easy as it was to gain them in the first place. They are now defended by substantial rebel fleets (they have a lot of planets I don't know about, so lots of resources), and I fighting off rebel sabotaging. So I do what any Imperial would do: I build a fleet specially for the elimination of massive rebel fleets. 2000 days later I have a fleet of 72 ships, mostly ISD IIs with a smattering of Lancer Frigates, VSD IIs, and two Interdictors. In short order I control the whole of the core worlds. I know I'm rushing through this, but a lot of it is pretty boring. So, I find out where Luke et al are hiding. Han goes first, the bounty hunters finding him on Ithor. After a few assassination attemps Han is unable to fight, and we take him in. Leia is stupid enough to try and free Han, but is captrued in the process. I'm not one to keep prisoners who I think are an escape risk, so I load her on a galleon, let the rebels destroy it and rescue the princess, then blockade hte planet and hit her until she can't fight back. Two down, two to go. Luke, as always, proves more of a problem. Thrawn, who is pretty much the only character I use actively, is a Jedi (and that's without editing! His chances according to RebEd ar e0, so this was reason enough to celebrate). While this is a good thing, any attempt to attack Luke and the mission is foiled. Enter the Death Commandos. After around 20 missions with 15 of the little guys, Luke is also dissabled and brought aboard. Through all of This the Alliance has been growing stronger, large fleets attacking everwhyere but being repelled by my planetary fleets (I have at least a small fleet on every planet, though most have no fighters). the biggest problem is their commanders. With the tactical power behind the Alliance, I'm in some big trouble with the size of their fleets. Again, I do what any wise Imperial would do: I wipe them out, all of them. Well, not all of them yet, but all of the big players, from Antilles to Lando, Dreyson to Talon, all dead. We're up to speed now, and the game is far from over. There are some massive fleets waiting to attack me at any time, and I still don't know where the hell Mon Mothma and here porta-command centre are. Updates forthcomming, as well as more interesting coverage of the continuing war. For now, screenshots! http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TAD1AuUX*7EoJhbGfEDK9XTTfZv!vtV7TNSfmPLH3m0XC69l!Mfuv89oONmQoW4X7c3c1HRXzf!h1q82MFs8XutRQRYOGdMLc!6vEyqWNy*aJHkAhV4FZQ/rebellion2.jpg As you can see, even if they get to a planet, they're in for a fight. Most of those fleets only have one or two ISD II's. They're mostly Carraks and Dreadnaughts. http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TAAAAOQXvrEoJhbGfEDK9SQ4a9TVKsdsn1bufVmsZm!0jVEdKGMFnk1KmY3CXNi8obEjs3cKvvtduI9wciytjRGNRTzlVILE9N5xL!1zm!ff0gxmpntYwg/rebellion1.jpg I've decided to hold all of my important people on Kessel. Veers has only failed once, when Solo escaped, though he was quickly captured again by Fett. That also gave me the chance to kill Antilles. Thrawn and his crew are on the right. http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TAD*AuYXQLIoJhbGfEDK9dAbnt8SqpAy1t8frMjoaAynCH8989id*fcRTLaINGe6mHA1kpEY3fsERwJsKCqkD1iS*6V7fOgYrz6igNdZQBp!Nd*yiRkdyA/rebellion3.jpg This is a shot of the status of the Rebel command list. Other than Garm, the trend contunues down pretty much the entire list.

I've since solved the prooblem by downloading a 3rd problem screenshot program. Just consider this topic closed until one of the moderators can do so officially.

This has been the case for both systems I've played Rebellion on, the first system being a Compaq 166MHz. Does any one else have this problem as well?

I know that to take a screen shot you press print screen and then paste the image in a photo program, but why are my screen shots always a mass of black and a few light coloured details?

A.I de la WTF
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Grand_Admiral_Pellaeon's topic in Warlords (Homeworld 2)
Most of the players sound interested in the mod when I mention it while looking for a game, but most of them have never heard of it before and don't know where to get it. I know Eville wants to keep it low-key until he's satisfied with the product, but maybe you should advertise a little bit more? -
Who Is your Favourite Jedi and why?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in General Discussion
The thing that sets Palpatine apart from the rest of the bad guys we see in movies is that he's got the power, ruthlessness and smarts, all rolled into one package. Vader was imposing and powerful, but he wasn't the smartest cookie. Heck, even Thrawn didn't have it all. Take away his troops and ships, and you've got a regular man. The Emperor could kill you no matter how the fight was sided. To answer the question, no one discovered him because he had a plan. He knew that if there was any visable change in the way he acted he would never be allowed to rise to the position of Chancellor, so he played it cool and twisted the cause of the good guys to his own purposes. He avoided being discovered by the Jedi by not using the Force, and suppressing his presence there (we''ve seen that done in the books), and used other Jedi to do his dirty work. By the time his plan was clear, it was too late. I'd like to learn more about his discovery of the holocron, how he grew so powerful in the force, and how he was turned to the dark side. -
What are Evillejedi's sources for ship stats?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to pnakotus's topic in Warlords (Homeworld 2)
It's true that the ISD I's are old (the Empire had a large number of them in ANH, so they must have been building for a while), but the difference between them and the ISD IIs isn't really that much, just a matter of heavy turrets and more armor. The Empire was still using ISD Is and VSDs at the Battle of Endor (the Visage was a VSD used for communications. The Chimaera was the designated command ship should the Executor be disabled or destroyed, so the ISD Is must be pretty good). I think Eville did a good job at balancing the ships out, both weapon and cost wise. There really isn't a huge differnece between the ISD classes, just a little bit more power and armor. -
Before you post, it is probably a good idea to check the date the last post was posted. This thread is over a year old .

When you go to establish the mission, be sure to have the units taht will perform the mission, as well as those that you want to use as a decoy selected. Once the mission screen comes up there is a second tab to the right of the mission tab, where you cn assign your decoyx. I wouldn't recommend using characters for decoys, unless you don't like them, because if the mission goes wrong, they will most likely die.

Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in General Discussion
The Emperor still had help, in the form of the Holocron, and then through the teachings of the Sith. Had Vader not been tutored by the Jedi and then turned, he wouldn't have had the same strenght. katarn wasn't self-trained, I think he had some training with Luke, but gave up the way of the Jedi. The game doesn't follow the plot line of the graphic novel exactley. -

Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in General Discussion
I don't think they would be as strong, and he would only be able to perform the most basic of force abilities, like moving things telekinetically (sp?), or maybe give people a mental push in the diraction he want. -
The make of your system has little or nothing to do with performance. What makes a system great is what is put into it. So, there is almost no way you could run the game at 1600x1200, all settings up high (shadows down, lighting down) and still get good performance. Why? Because you're using a 5700 which, as is well document, performs worse than the ATI Radeon 9800 (not pro or above). The fact that you have a P4 3.2 also makes your claim debateable since they perform lower than my processor, the AMD 2800+. This thread has basically become a place to bragg about your system, and isn't going anywhere. If you want to talk about such things, go into the Outside interests forum.
