  1. Ok, I know I could have done this in an edit, but I decided a new post was better. I think that no matter what you settings are, you should be able to build the Avenger, but for arguments sake, I set the restrictions to Super Caps, and the era to ROTJ. I have htree pics, the first of the HUD, showing where the avenger build icon is, the second is of some avengers I've built... the third really has nothing to do with this, but I really like the pic. BTW, Eville, this is by-far one of the best maps in the mod (second only to Coruscant Orbit). The lighting and fog is great! http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SgDfAh8XoXUSQpDuS8aI4oQWc8M3gJEY1umWk3oDjHKxWSHFMzPrXV4Go6k6QY3jicvWR68nqcV1k6b72tlGmc25*0IxUHtniEkckHd7NHkCWsMcmR*k2Q/avenger2.jpg http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SwDrAk4XLYUSQpDuS8aI4u!Hlhw!merdK6oKvoTO24!Xq!h6mn8SqPxU5sq4xYguzO9Z7Fw9*aRzLY2awY3D2nOmu9n!kVUU6GQZTAQ36qLY1D8b18F*7Q/avenger10.jpg http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RQDdAvIUA9vf3FuZtNlSMu4cSmlFtwJYV!XUVnYyu3QoPpIEl823SzJVtpuuOMS81NrAuX42DDyH7ZoYh788!cs*IsadHAhso3BMCNZzR64/VSD.jpg I hope this helps you out.
  2. Give me about five minutes and I'll get you a screen shot of the Avenger, and I'll tell you what settings I'm using.
  3. It's not a SW game, but the mod that I'm using is,. It's EvilleJedi's mods, and a great one it is. Most of the threads are about it in the forum (the Homeworld 2 forum that is). The mod is called Warlords, and you should definitely check it out!
  4. I'm a fan of Family Guy, and was relieved to hear that they are bringing it back (there haven't been new episodes in a year or so).
  5. The game does look nice, and I have been following it, but I'm more interested in the modding possibilities. Because it is based on the same graphics engine as C&C: Generals, any mods that find them selves struggling to find an audience (Imperial Assault, despite the fact that the mod will kick ass), can use the game to rejubinate thier efforts. I was never a big fan of the medieval-type warfare, so I'll probably play the actuall game for a month, then start looking for mods.
  6. I think that most SW fans, with the exception of Dinochick and a few others, are male, and while hormones have a lot to do with it, most men don't like femal heroes (heroins). I am almost ashamed to admit that I find it difficult to connect with the female charcters in the SW novels, and when an author makes it blatantly obviouse that they are trying to put the females in lead roles, I find myself getting annoyed. Maybe it's the imbalance of it all. I've always found Luke and Mara's relationship to be the most tolerable, because there is no impalance of power.
  7. Actually, the Bulwarks and TIE Avengers are included in this version if you have the patch. I got pwned by the computer when they sent 6 Bulwarks after me. I managed to take one out, but the rest were too tough. I don't have an image of the Avenger, since I didn't build them, but here are the Bulwarks http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0SQDlAtsVHR4nfZyqXJOcNhris3n*Eh8mMocKUcFVGhC3LHGP5bB9U*MqynP1hnl86yPqIIi8wBOIRCVYHKo1mBKdj8rKGSDFTAmHLK9Jr4!zdjqzEXojOg/ss00000.jpg
  8. The war was an excuse for Palpatine to take absolute power, or "emergency power" as he put it. It's very similar to what Hitler did. Take emergency power, says he'll give it back when the crisis is over, but just keeps it and declares himself Emperor.
  9. OOC: And here I though no one was posting here. Now I'm behind! IC: The Vengeance and her taskforce had moved into position around the shipyards, but were being engaged by the rebel fleets arriving from the poles. This was of little hinderance to the primary objective. The shipyards were not to be destroyed. "Captain Chiraneau, deploy all remaining fighters and order them to engage all enemy vessels. Also have hte Victory Star Destroyers form a defencive line with the Judicator and Tyrant above and below the central position on that line." The captain gave no argument, his only response a nod. the ships outside began moving into position, forming a perfect line that effecivley halted any movement. The rebel fleets, who had been pushing towards the Star Destroyers in an attempt to push them away from the shipyards began to turn. moving to put some ground between them and the wall of Star Destroyers. Thrawn reached down an pressed a sequence of keys on the command chair, a soft chime indicating that the message had been recieved from the other end. From the bayd of the Victory Star Destroyers above, the small shapes of utility tugs could be seen, too mall to be targets for the larger weapons of the capitol ships, and too far away for the rebel fighters to engage them. The tugs descended upon the three ship yards, four to each. Two maneuvered along the aft, attaching detachable hyper-frives, the other two moving into position at the front, anchoring tow cable to the superstructure and beginning to gain momentum. As the aft tugs joined those in the front, the shipyards began to accelerate away from the planet, making for open space. "Begin pulling the fleet away from the planet. Inform the Chimaera that she can withdraw her taskforce from the engagement at her leisure. There is nothing more to be done here." There was a brief flash from the retreating shipyards, and then only empty space. This would be a major setback for the rebels. With the newly build battle-station under the command of Grand Moff Tarkin, there would be little hope for the rebellion. Only a miracle could save them. "Have the fleet move away. They are to rendevous at Carida before proceeding to Bilbringi where our catch can be dealt with. The Judicator is to head for Coruscant. There is a formal function I am to attend there." OOC:A fitting end I think. Sure, we won, but you get to destroy the Death Star. The rebels can continue. Maybe they can find some good in this...
  10. Hehe, if you ever manage to get a hold of GL, let us know. I'm sure there are a few members who have some messages they'd like to give him.
  11. I think most people here only play Rebellion part-time, and using the single player campeign when they do. Playing on-line tends to be hecktic as most players prefer to end it quickley. I enjoy a drawn-out game that would take too long to play on the net.
  12. Well, they only have to fund the clone army since the droids are funded by the Trade Federation. Plus, the droids were the means to an end. Without their threat the clone army would never have been accepted by the senate or the Jedi Council. I think I already mentioned htis, but I doubt that you would have to pay up-front for the clone army. You'd want to be sure it was suitable for your needs. More likely Sidious hade it ordered, through Sypho-whatever, and then created the threat of the droids to force the Republic to pick up the tab.
  13. The game came to about $57.00 CDN, and when I go to pick it up on the 21st I get a nice Battlefront Scouttrooper actionfigure.
  14. Sadly the only game on there that I want is not "abandonware". I remember the good old days of playing Blake Stone, zapping aliens, blowing two feet of body mass away from the security guards chests... ah the memories. On he topic of games, today I purchaised Battlefront. In only 21 days it'll be mine, plus a free action-figure!
  15. I know that it is perhaps one of the geekiest things you can do, but I'm an avid re-enactor, and I'm wondering if there are any others here. If you're in europe, I guess the only thing you'd be re-enacting is the Napoleanic Wars, which tie in nicely with the most popular re-enactment here in Canada, the War of 1812. There are also some American Civil War re-enactments, though I'm not sure why (not that it's not important, but why would we do it in Canada?).
  16. I would imagine that if the game was designed to run in dos, it must be old enough that modern systems can run it no problem. I could be wrong though, since I don't have any dos games to test it out on. The closest thing I have is Red Alert, and it won't work despite the fact it was designed for Windows 95.
  17. With this new patch I've just started experiencing a glitch. I can play one game, but if I try to exit that game before victory, it freezes. Also, if I try to play a second game, it freezes while loading. It doesn't crash, just freezes.
  18. As yet there is very little to report, but I'll do my best to keep this interesting. Despite my best efforts, that being four GenCore II's, two ILM IIs, a KDY, 30 Dark Trooper Regements, General Veers and Boba Fett, Han Solo made good his escape around Day 9430. He and the rest of the rebel's woul-be leaders were being held on Kessel benieth the ever watchfull eye of a substantial fleet in orbit. A group of rebel agents slipped past the planetary defence flet, and the troops guarding the planet, and freed solo, though the agents responsible were killed (good-bye Page!). Unfortuately for me I controlled the etire sector, so Solo escaped into uncharted space. I had little time to dwell on this, however, as there were other problems. My systems in the core are all experiencing seismic trouble, that is, I'm loosing most of my resources to earth-quakes. To date the Empire has lost over 1500 MPs to these "natural" disasters. It is still my belief that the AI has access to some form of earth-quake machine, though I have no evidence to support my theory. The majority of my time is divided between subjuga... erm, negotiating the joining of neutral and rebel-held dydtems to the Empire, and assassinating rebel leaders. With agents scouring the galaxy for admiral, generals, and captains, there now remains only a handful of rebel agents left, most of whom are small players in the grand game. The whole of the core, as well as two rim sectors, are now loyal to the empire, each impregnable to all but the largest of Rebel fleets. The rebels are on the retreat, no longer attacking the core, and affecting only occasional raids on Imperial-held rim systems. Their primary ship production site have been crushed in a daring raid by a greatly outnumbered Imperial taskforce (8 ISD IIs agains a Bulwark, two Daunless Cruisers, four Mon Cals, and an assortment of smaller craft). Losses were heavy, but in the end, victory was mine. That's it for now. I'll update a little sooner next time.
  19. It's great that we have a constantly growing community. That's probably what keeps this site from dying. I can't think of any other community that has stayed around this long. Long live SWR.com!
  20. They probably have investments in whatever passes for a stock market. I don't think they could have such a grandiose temple, but not use money.
  21. I probably just updated my profile without filling in the custom avater line. I also did some extensive digging in the .dlls and didn't find anything. Really the only thing I want is the hand pic. I hate the one that is in the game...
  22. Well, if it's that simple, it would me greatly appreciated. I think my e-mail is listed in my profile.
  23. Well, it is possible that the afreement was that payment would be recieved upon inspection and agreement that the clone army was up-to-par with what they were buying. Since it would cost more than is humanly possible to imagine, you'd want to be sure you were getting what you payed for.
  24. From my experience, the images above cannot be found in any of the .dlls, though I could be wrong. I'll go take a look. On an unrelated note, what's up with some people's avaters not appearing?
  25. Well, since I have no idea how to do that, and I don't have the patience to find out, I'll just leave it be. It's not that bad anyhow.
