  1. That is one of the big problems. The AI tends to rely heavily on their fighters and picket craft, like the Corellian Corvettes and Gunships. PvP isn't completely lagless, but the lack of fighters (or low number) tends to balance the number of projectiles. Another way to improve performance is to avoid building missile ships.
  2. I think GL was just trying to make is sound mystical. "The one who will be really strong with the force" isn't as impressive as "will bring balance to".
  3. I agree with him on many points, mainly that GL can't really write or direct (THX anyone?), and also that a lot of the actors should have been cut before they were cast. I can't stand Hayden Christensen, and Portman is only there as a piece of eye candy, though there are far more tantelizing choices in the galaxy. On the other hand, I wasn't overly dissapointed with TPM and AotC. Sure TPM wasn't the best of the series, but i found it more interesting than ANH. These films weren't written for Sci-Fi fans, nor for action or SFX fans. They were written for the Star Wars dans out there. We wanted to see the rise of the Empire, and golly we got it!. It can't all be glits and glamour. This guy is obviousley not a hard-core fan, and has no apreciation for the mythose we've all come to love. I say that Episode III doesn't need saving, it just needs better actors, but it's too late for that.
  4. For mission success, it would depend on a number of factors that vary depending on the target, operative, environment etc. For example, if you are trying to get the last neutral planet in a sector controlled by the enemy, you chances of having any positive effect on the population of that planet on each mission report is smaller than if the sector were primarily neutral, or controled by you (I have experimented with this and find it to be mostly true). There are other factors like are there any enemy operatives working on the same planet (for all missions), is there a fleet in orbit (yours or your opponent's), obviousley the stats of the character must be taylored to fit the mission. As a side note, Welcome to the forums Scorpion_TTC and Cat0234!
  5. Actually, once you have the game started, as long as you have the full game installed (videos and all) you can take the CD out. Very usefull if you want to listen to your own music without copying it to your HD.
  6. Unless the game only supports upto a certain resolution (like Diablo II, which only went up to 800x600) I usually play in 1280x960, though with Jedi Knight II I play in 1600x1200.
  7. With my old configuration I ran Doom with all settings to high, but my resolution was only 1024x768. EDIT: I just put my new RAM in and I can now play Doom 3 with settings to Ultra High and the resolution to 1280x1024, though there are some spots where the FPS goes down considerably.
  8. I don't think you can even find something as old as a DX 7 graphics car anymore, though I know that some of the GeForce and low-end Radeon cards only support DirectX 8. I don't know if I'll buy HL 2. I've been looking at the shots for the new CS, and, well, it looks like the old one with slightly updated map textures. The lighting is still second-rate, and the buildings are still geometric (no curves, only angles, and quite visable ones at that). From what I'v seen, the graphics aren't even next-generation, thier below those of Far Cry. And on top of that, the huge delay in it release... It will have to be a very good game for me to buy it... I'll let my friends shell out the money and I'll buy it if I like it.
  9. I chagne it every time I get promoted so there really isn't much point in resizing it yet. I noticed that the forums don't do it automatically some times. It will do it if you refresh the page though.
  10. That is more than enogh. the 3200 is actually faster than you need. If wanted to save even more money go for the DDR333, though I'd go for the 400.
  11. I don't think so. Looking back on what was discussed in the Jedi council in Episode I, I't looks like the Jedi though balance would favour them. Maybe they were wrong?
  12. That is a great configuration. just make sure your RAM is PC3200. You can go one step down and get the same GHz out of your processor, but the 3200 is faster, and save you buying new RAM if you decide to get an even faster processor.
  13. Yup. I also went around and changed things for Covell (made him a Major), Jerjerrod now shows Moff when I put him as a commander, Solo, Calrissian and Antilles all show General when they are admirals. I also took out the ranks for Vader and replaced them with Lord.
  14. My system specs are pretty much the same (AMD Athlon 2800, not what your processor is [i've never heard of it]), and I get lag fighting one AI. It's because the models are in such great detail, your computer has to render it all. I don't know how every one else is having the epic battles (probably with very lowered settings), because I just don't see it happening. I'll assume you ment 1024 Mhz of RAM . I don't have XP Home on my PC, I've got the professional edition. Not much difference though.
  15. There seems to be a lot of entries like those. On a good note, I've just finished customizing the command ranks for all of my characters. Should be interesting to see .
  16. Doom 3 and other games tend to over-exadureate. I was running it on 1024x768 with full graphics on my 1700+, with 1Gig of RAM. In the end I find that your RAM and video card make the differnece. And remember that the numbers in the Athlon names don't indicate their GHz. There is no Athlon processor that performs above around 2.4 GHz, and that would be one of the 64-bit processors. AMDs run faster than Intels, so a 2800+ (which is about 2.08 GHz) runns at or above the speed of an Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz. That, and gaming companies are in cahoots with hardware companies.
  17. Vader brought balance to the Force. There were too many light-side Jedi, and thus the "Force Scale" was tipped too much to the light. He killed them all, leabing only Ben and Yoda against Palpatine and Vader. Balance.
  18. I'm going through the TEXTSTRA.dll with the resource hacker, seeing if I can change the names for the commands (I want it to be Captain, not commander). I came across the entry denoting "Incite Uprising", "Jedi Training", and "Death Star Sabotage". At the end are "Vacation" and "Sabbatical". Does any one know what these are for, if anything? (string 709)
  19. I recently got tired of looking at the Admiral rank insignia on Thrawn's nice Grand Admiral's uniform, so I made some minor changes to the images. I've done two versions, on with the code cylenders, and one without. Like I said, it's not a big change, but I think it looks better. First, with the code cylenders: http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0VQDtAggaVGltuLQdCuh9hdim3g1oR*hSlHm7f5PwzkeLajtTGMjRxSQuBHR3YKZF4DweskX2rOdJ1BfEgzgYOPyoLocgqc34ONvadWIA9FaHUuqpq*jjx8TvCYr0tbm7/Thrawn%20With%20BGj.jpg http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0VQAHA0ga1nhtuLQdCuh9hYVf4nb3l2hPKH06rmlE0wHNzQYDk1LHoIGwkezc*9vAJMJhVOlXlaxwWa!ya6LXUoK300NV4mZYj07yPeigN1s*MNhHU3WVxKEiU16tkq20/Thrawn%20on%20Bluej.jpg And without: http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0ZgAHA5wfYGhtuLQdCuh9hdim3g1oR*hSujY4zYFns9IHXLnnBenp1PyviaEwJKEAp4xDAW95n6vew!GhLiqp2HKY3h!bS2osFK*!T*lU9RKJEF1nc965q7NsoXaPTxmsKJYpd2N!sSk1alWeCf2jBg/Thrawn%20With%20BG%20no%20Cylendersj.jpg http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0ZgD**9wfInxtuLQdCuh9hYVf4nb3l2hPPPCwFvSxQIc49QzzRubYYqlMmgXvRKiuN1HnGdSge5yarZVIkTiM68xIDV8Eozm9fJhrddB6B9KLKQ2fJ45EuyvDz5NZ4R!a2Ud*F3uiHMhrWSShnK9GDQ/Thrawn%20on%20Blue%20no%20Cylendersj.jpg I included the imperial backgfround pics because when you generate them with RebEd, the BG gets all distored. You'll have to convert them to .bmp format (I think) for RebEd, but that's not too much trouble. Like I said, not a big to-do, but if you have any suggestions on ways to further improve it, just post. EDIT: Sorry about the lenght of the page (keeps going off screen to the right for me).EDIT EDIT:Fixed now. EDIT II: Now that I've actually used the card in-game, I've noticed that the yellow rank squares go funny. If any one knows the solution to this, I'd appreciate it. EDIT III: I've moved the Ranky insignia farther down and to the right. Now it is better placed on his uniform.
  20. I didn't think that there was any way to make the graphics better... that is, they were already so horrible that any change and it wouldn't have been Yoda Stories.
  21. There are some things that Future SHop knows lots about, like TVs and stereos, but when it comes to computers, you're better to trust a place that specializes. Either way, an Athlon that has lower GHz than a Pentium 4 will usually perform better. My processor can outperform a Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz, and mine is only 2.0 GHz.
  22. Oops, didn't mean to type Athelon, just goes more smoothely on the keyboard. I did take my 2100 RAM back (bought it at Future Shop, though I won't do that again, it costs way too much.) I'm currently running on 512 of the PC2100 until my RAM comes in tomorrow. I got a gig of PC 3200 for only $50 CDN more. (the 512 of PC2100 cost me $174, two sticks of 512 PC3200 is only $240). I would have gotten a 64-bit processor, just to be "future proof", but the performance difference isn't that big, and I don't want to spend more money on XP 64.
  23. I have no problems running it on XP without the compatibility stuff on. It doesn't really do anything, since most games that won't work on regular XP won't work with the compat stuff on either.
  24. In rebellion I don't like them that much, but in other games i love them. I don't know, I think they look cool.
  25. That's because you're suppose to oppress planets, not worry if they like you or not. Don't bring them over to your side, invade them and bring them over later.
