The problem with that list is that is assumes the SW universe follows the same ranking system as a RL Military. It is impossible to impose RL restrictions on SW things. The primary problem is that the list you linked to uses a series of source books (which are outdated. Almost 15 years old) as its references. Actually, he only uses one reference (bad practice no matter what you are doing), and that reference is for a RP game, which makes things up to coincide with gameplay. He picks apart the rank system used in the computer games, stating that the ranks of General, Colonal, and Major cannot be used in the Naval ranking system because they are army ranks. So? It's not our universe, they can do whatever the bloody hell they want with thier ranking system. He's also failed to take multiple official SW sources to create an accurate listing of a rankings system. He is under the belief that Commander is above Captain. If so, why is Commander Gherant (deck officer aboard the Executor) not superior to the Captain who takes over for Piett when he is promoted to Fleet Admiral? Indeed, why was he not promoted in place of Piett? Realy people, the SWTC is not the best place to get your information. It is riddled with problems and, considering the man who created it is suppose to be a professor, is ver unprofessional. He takes only one source and posts it as fact? In addition, he leaves out ranks such as Grand Admiral because it doesn't fit his ranking scheme! Nothing but an amateur trying to pass of fhis ideas as fact. EDITI've decided to include a rank list (for the navy at least), as well as officers seen in the movies who held that rank, or characters from the books.: Grand Admiral: Thrawn Fleet Admiral: Piett, Ozzel Admiral: Chirneau, Motti Vice-Admiral: Pallaeon Rear Admiral: Assumed rank, no support for this one Commodor: Same as above Captain: Piett, Pallaeon, Godherdt, Sarkli, Yorr (Pilot, Vader's personal shuttle), Bewil Commander: Praji, Merrejk, Gherant, Desanne Lieutenant-Commander: Ardan Lieutenant: Hebsly (fighter pilot), Endicott, Grond, Cecius Ensign: Assumed Rank I think the guy at SWTC got confused by the fact that there are Army officers aboard the Naval ships. Veers is a General, but he's not part of the navy. General and Colonal are not part of the Imperial Navy rankin system. He's also forgotten that more often than not, fighter corps (equiv. of Airforce) often times share ranks with one of the other military wings. In the case of Star Wars, it would make sense that the fighter corps would take ranks from both.

Who Is your Favourite Jedi and why?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in General Discussion
Well, not every female get together with a male. Some remane single, some choose another female. It is not, however, that odd. The SW books follow the "nuclear family" model. There aren't any single people. -

Yes, I've never quite understood why that happens, though I find it only occurs when I'm playing with a rediculousley high number of starting RUs and lots of RU injections and Lump Sums. -
Happy Birthday Trej. The big 19. Since I'm not too sure where you live, you could now be old enough for a host of things, which are of little importance compared to celebrating with us. My gift to you is my typing this post in a colour other than my usualy blue. If I could actually send you some thing, I would.

0.30? I thought we already had that version, or will there be an updated version? Timing it with the DVD release is smart. People will be itching to play something that resembles the original moves more than JK II, or some crappy prequel. EDIT:Never mind, I just remembered that we are using 0.30 BETA. I'm assuming that you mean the actuall v0.30 will be out then. -
Once you get to 2000 posts you can pick your rank. I'm sure General is available

The online community isn't very big, from what I've seen, but you can play the mod online. Though nothing has been said yet, bobandrupert and I are organizing a tournament for those who are interested, so hopefuly that will create more interest. I'm still working on it, and I start University next week, so I'll keep every one posted. On another note: Finally, some one else typing in colour! -
Who Is your Favourite Jedi and why?

Well, there is one female who didn't have a male attachment:Ysanne Isard. But then again, who would trust that icy woman. She'd turn agains you at the first sign of an advantage. EDIT:Since Barkoa bosted while I was typing, yes, most of the writers are male, but even the female writers follow the trend of males being dominant. That, and they tend to be poor writers... -

Yea, Luke was always weakened in some way in the books, so I get the impression that we've never really seen his full potential. I think that he would at least be on par with Vader power wise, and a far better swordsman. I'd like, just once, to see look portrayed fairly. (An impressive fleet, but no match for 40 ISD IIs, 20 VSD IIs, 10 Lancer Frigates, 2 Interdictor Cruisers, and the SSD Chimaera's Revenge. That is, of course, based on my current Rebellion game ) -

Hmmm, definitely not good. But hey, with a fleet above me, I'll blast those lizards into space dust. SNAPS HIS FINGERS AGAIN, THE HOLO-PROJECTOR THAT WAS TRANSMITTING HIS IMAGE DISENGAGES. I can't win them all . I guess since htis isn't an RP, we really should get back on topic... so... yeah... GO LUKE! -
What would you say to George Lucas if you could?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in General Discussion
Actually, he wrote the screenplays and scripts, in tandem with other writers, but the books, at least RotJ, were adapted from Lucas' writings by other authors. My copy of RotJ says James Kahn (both my original 80's edition, and the trilogy book), and ESB is written by Donald E. Glut. Only ANH is written by GL... maybe that's why it sucked so much? -

I find that playing without research makes the AI work better. Since I find doing all of the research monotonous, it also makes the game more enjoyable. -
Warlords 0.30 Patch 1 - Temporary Fixes
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Evil_Greven's topic in Warlords (Homeworld 2)
You probably should have contacted Eville before doing that, but I don't think he'll be too angry. -
The only rank that I've found that doesn't belong is General. The rest of the ranks are correct. I don't think that there is any difference between the Imperial Navy and Imperial Starfighter ranks. If you are an officer, you're the same rank as your equivilent in the opposite wing of the Navy.
-
Of any SW forums that use a ranking system, this is the only one that accurately displays the Imperial ranks, and places them in the correct order... though Warlord is surely below Grand Admiral .

The problem could be in SP2. While I have yet to experience any of the abundant problems in the Service pack, they are there. You may be best to check with Microsoft's website and see if they have any solutions for your problem. Probably the only way you'll get around it is to un-install SP2, which creates problems of its own.

Who Is your Favourite Jedi and why?
Grand_Admiral_Thrawn replied to Barkoa's topic in General Discussion
That's absolutely true, but there were more influential captains in the NJO series (holding positions as Captains in both Imperial and Republic fleets) than in any of the other books. Another interesting thing I've noticed, and that you've hinted at above, is that the major females never have the same "importance" as their male counter-parts. Leia is very close to being equal to Han, but without Han's piloting skills, there wouldn't be any one left in the universe (ok, a bit exadurated, but you know what I mean). Padme doesn't really do anything, where as Anakin, well, destroys the Republic. Daala fails at her attempt at vengeance agains the New Republic, where as Taarking destroys a planet and will forever remain infamouse. Heck, even Mara isn't as important as Luke, and she wen through an illness and a pregnancy. C-3P0 takes a back seat to R2... oh, I guess 3P0 is male, isn't he. The only female that is more important than her male counter part is Jaina. Fell just doesn't match up to her. To bring this full circle, the female jedi that Lucas creates just wouldn't be a interesting as the male jedi to the male viewers. There may be female fans who are interested, but, as they make up the minority, unfortunately they will never really get to see more of them in the movies. They'll have to read the books. -
Close, it ER, or Emergency Room. I never watched it when Clooney was on (maybe because I was only around 12 at the time), and now it just looks like a primetime soap opera. As for a description of Futurama and Family Guy: Futurama: Like the Simpsons, only set in the future (a very messed up future at that). It's funnier than the Simpsons, and doesn't have any of the repetative catch phrases either. Family Guy: This is the simpsons if Homer were fatter and dumber, Marge had fewer morals, Bart were fat and really dumb (more so than Homer!), Lisa is still smart, but she's your typical teenage girl, Santa's Little Helper (the dog) is a savvy, high-class mut who talks and enjoys drinking, and Maggy is a little psycotic baby who enjoys goading the dog (who can talk), attempting to kill his mother, and creating weapons.

In that case, I would suggest re-installing the mod, and if need be, the game, though I doubt the latter will be needed. -

The map is Nar Shadda. It's a good map if you're looking to take screen shots! There should be three files in the folder, a .events, .hod, and .ship files. -
They're a little pricy for me. They were good, but not $70.00 good.

If I play the game, I'll only ever play as Sauron's forces. Nothing can beat a Nahzgul(sp?)!

I don't know if it is just me, but the imperial lasers don't have the lighter core like the rebel lasers. This isn't really a big deal, but it would be visually more appealing if there were a white-green centre.
