  1. Well, there are two mods that solve that problem. one allows all ships to be purchaised, including capitol ships. This makes the game a lot harder, though, as fighter weapons were improved to allow them to counter capitol ships. the cap ships are quite exspensive, too. The Rhineland Battleship is 30,000,000 credits, and that's without shielding or weapons. The weapons are around 1,000,000 credits each, with room for about 12. The second mod is the one I mentioned above. It adds SW ships, and allows you to buy SW cap ships from what I understand. There are two problems with the mod, though. First is that the trade lanes were removed, so you have to use your cruise engines to get around. Second is that, until the next release, there are only four sectors. BTW, it is set in the New Republic era. I'll take some screens later and post them.
  2. It's hard to tell. I wont sit down and spend an evening playing rebellion, or any other game for that matter. I tend to play two or three games each night. I suppose a week would be a viable ammount of time for me to complete a satisfactory game.
  3. I've also noticed this. I've given up on the defenders and stick with the Interceptors. It could have something to do with maneuvering speed.
  4. Just remember, there are old 256 video cards out there too, so watch what you buy. The Radeon 9600 has a 256 meg version, but it doesn't perform as well as my 9800, which only has 128 meg. The only 256 that's worth your money is one of the next generation cards, like the X800 or 6800, but you'll never get one for $150.
  5. There are a lot of mods out there for the game, including one that replaces all of the Liberty (American) military hsips with Imperial ships, and allows you to buy X-Wings, TIE FIghters, TIE Interceptors, Jedi Starfighters, the Slave I, the Millenium Falcon, A-Wings, B-Wings, and much more. Checkout Lancers Reactor. I'll have to reinstall the game as I wasn't able to connect to multiplayer games. You'll have to get the Freelancer Mod Manager to use any of the mods, but it's simple enough to use. EDIT:There is a mod for Freelancer, called Free Worls, which replaces the Freelancer galaxy in MP with a SW one. It also replaces the ships/weapons with SW universe stuff. If we have enough people, we can start a server up that uses this mod. Could be fun!
  6. Wow, every one seems to have fast games. I tend to play prolonged games. None of mine have ever ended under 5000 days, mostly because I like to establish a securty wall around the core, establishing at least a strong foothold in every sectory.
  7. I would like to warn you about another piece of equipment, though. As much as I am a fan of ATI, there have been a lot of problems running games on thier cards as of late, and that includes the new X800 and X600. ATI customers have been suffering from a VPU recovery error that pops up every now and then (like every time you play for 30 min +). I found that not overclocking and allowing programs to take charge of settings has eliminated the problem, bu if I could trade in my new 9800 Pro (I recently broke my old one ) for a NVidia 6800, I would. EDIT:BTW, only five more days until Battlefront is released! Alas, my playing will be postponed due to a semenar on that day, but it will only heighten my enthusiasm when I get at it!
  8. History can be tricky some times because there may be conflicting accounts on events. For example, if you go to a school in the U.S, America won the War of 1812, however, pretty much anywhere else, Britain (and subsequently Canada) was the victor. I've also noticed that it is a subject that is declining in popularity, not with the studens, but with the governments and their establishing a curriculum. For me, it's not until my second year of University that I can get a more thorough look at history.
  9. Hmm, didn't know the new version of Firefox was out. Did it add more security features, or is just an aesthetic upgrade?
  10. Well, even though it is an open-source browser, and not really any more secure than IE, I use FireFox. The pop-up blocker is better than anything I can download.
  11. It's also important to point out that, while he does own and controle those companies, he has very little to do with most of their creations. Also, many of those movies were only tied to lucas through production, and were directed by others. He does have to be given credit for founding them, though. The Indiana Jones movies were directed by Spielberg, though Lucas did produce them. Also, you can't always base a person's future success on thier past successes. I have high hopes for Episode III, but if Lucas does a third trillogy based in the time of the EU, but doesn't follow the events of EU, he'll have a lot of angry fans out there.
  12. If he's a specialist on contradictions, he probably works via correspondence for the White House or Lucasfilm .
  13. How about he sailed from Palos, in southern Spain, on August 3, 1492 .
  14. Because I'm too lazy to register for them. I'll see if it keeps doing it, and if so, I'll have my friend take a look at it.
  15. Nor have I, but I tend to like the updated versions of movies rather than their older counterparts. I can't stand watching B&W movies, unless they are WWII based.
  16. Perhaps that is just the next evolutionary step for Russians, since they consume large quantities of Vodka .
  17. Well, I fixed the VPU recovery thing, but now my system will freeze up and sit at a black screen. I wonder why this problem is only now occuring.?
  18. While it would be nice to see them in there, I don't believe they were actually armed, and they serve no other purpose than to transport things around. They'd be about a useful as an 18 Wheeler in C&C Generals.
  19. Yes, there are many great things that he has created, but it seems to me that most people like the EU, which only builds off of what Lucas created. There's no doubt that what he's made is greate, I just tend to think of it as a foundation for a bigger picture.
  20. Not to bash Eville's work (because I love the mod), but if you're going to buy a game, make it Battlefront! I know that Warlords is what we've all been waiting for, but Homeworld2 is an old game, and it's not going to go anywhere, nor is anything new going to be done with it. So, I would suggest getting Battlefron, then, when Homeworld 2 drops to a reasonable price (which was probably four months ago) grab it too!
  21. While I thought the plot of the Riddick's tale was original and in some cases interesting, it didn't really catch my attention to the extent that it seems to have with others. Perhaps it is the fact that I don't like Diesel (whether he is leaded or un-leaded ) as an actor. just too little inflection in his voice that goes beyond the "tough-guy" who's cold and calculating.
  22. Well, if NIIIC has Jahled forward the spam he's been getting, the particular organ he's worried about loosing may not be so bad. Perhaps there is something in there about growing such a thing back
  23. Of course I do. If you take into account what GL has managed to pull off up until now, I bet he can do this as well... Well, whatever he pulled off with TPM, I think he should have put it back on.
  24. Is that in comparison to the new one, or is the new version of that film good as well?
  25. Will be? Is it not out in Europe yet? if not, it wasn't what I was expecting, but it made for a good action film. Apparently there was a lot cut out of it to maintain the PG-13 rating over here, so we'll have to wait for a diractor's cut to see what the movie was suppose to be. As for the Village, I wasn't impressed. It wasn't very original, and the last half of the movie was ruined by the revelation you come to in the middle (won't ruin the plot for anyone). It could have been much, much better.
