Evan had been destroyed. By one of the pilots with not nearly as much experiance. Sure he had vaped one, but how could he be destroyed? Angrily he waited and watched as the scenario began again. This time he would not be destroyed. He followed the same manuvers as the last time, and saw the X-wing manuver behind him. Anticipating it, he stopped dead.

The pilot was quite good, but the manuver surprised him/her. Putting his power back on, he put himself on the X-wings tail. The X-wing manuvered wildly, but Evan was no novice. He now had the advantage he needed. Soon enough, the X-wing exploded. Satisfied, Evan moved to find another target.

OOC: Heh kinda short, sorry not that much time. I couldn't let you be better than me and all on your first day here :o:P8O:D

Jess fired again this time the TIE exploded. She moved off looking for more targets.

When the next simulation came up, she was ready for some more.

She went about this one slightly different, but when a TIE did the some manuver as the last time she had to follow.

Everything was the same until the TIE did a manuver she had never seen done before.

What the heck, she thought and before she could react she was being hit from behind.

"What the..." that was all she could say before her X-wing was destroyed.

"Drat," she said slamming her hand on the joystick.

"I need a drink," she said getting up.

As she came back from the refreshments stand she walked over to Evan.

"Hows everyone going?" she asked.

"Your a pretty damn good pilot. Hey did you see that pilot who performed that neat move? I would like to learn that one for the future. It was fantastic...."

Evan settled down to go to sleep. His pilots were ready, but more drills would be required. The Imperials would run in fear from Green, Blue and Orange squadrons. Ever more TIEs would be painted on his X-wing. Evan smiled smugly to himself. Indeed, his X-wing was quite a work of art.

Suddenly an alarm went off. Immediatly reacting, he jumped up and ran for his fighter. It looked like it was time to add more TIEs to his X-wing. All around him the X-wing pilots joined him in the race. When Evan reached his fighter, half asleep, a sense of comfort came over him. Indeed, the cockpit was were he was most comfortable.

As the X-wing launched, Evan saw their was only a single ISD. Clearly it was just a probbing mission. Groups of TIEs had already been launched and were poking around. One came too close to the asteroids and was blown to pieces by the turbolasers. So the Imperials have found our base, let us impress them then.....

All around Tan pilots scrambled for their ships. The alarm had woken her and now, still drowsy, she was having a hard time finding her X-wing. Finally hauling herself into the cockpit she settled back into the chair and took a few deep breaths in an effort to wake up properly.

She felt the familiar surge in her stomach as the faithful X-Wing powered up beneath her, and took them both out of the hanger and into the black oblivion of space. She tapped her comlink,

"Green Leader, this is Green 8, awaiting orders."

Waiting for a reply she tried to fix her hair under the heavy helmet she was wearing. Chocolate coloured strands were sticking out all over the place, interfering with her vision. 'Can't have that,' she thought to herself.

Jess had been quite tired after the training and was dozing in her room when an alarm went off. It took her a second to become fully aware of what the alarm ment but when she did she was up and running in a flash. She run to her Z-95 but was stopped by a Lieutenant.

"You are now flying an X-wing in green squadron so go to hanger three."

With out a skipping a beat she was running down to hanger three.

She found the X-wing assigned to her and jumped in.

The X-wing was slightly different from her Z-95, it was larger and more heavy but she was ready to try it out.

She put on her helmet and was strapping in when her viewport started to close, "Prepare for take off," voice came over her commlink.

"Ready as I'll ever be," she said to herself.

When she was in free space she looked around and saw the ISD and the TIEs coming towards her.

"Just like the simulations," she said to herself.

Than she heard, "this is Green eight, awaiting orders," Good that means I don't have to make the call she thought...

"Okay Green, Blue and Orange squadrons break into flights and stay close together. The Imps aren't here to stay, they're just probing. Try to vape as many eyeballs as you can, but don't try anything too risky. No need to take any casulties."

Leading flight one, Evan saw a flight of TIEs reacting to the X-wings launch. Groups of TIEs were quickly forming up and attempting to attack the TIEs. Nevertheless, Evan had no doubt the Rebels would prevail. Leading his pilots through evasive manuvers, Evan brought flight one right at the TIEs.

The pilots dodged the TIEs' fire and moved to attack their rear. As the TIEs reacted, the X-wings came at them. It was no every man for himself. The more X-wing pilots were more experianced, and soon gained the uper hand. Evan dived upon a wildly manuvering TIE and fired. It evaded him for a few moments, but soon the eyeball was space dust. Time to find our next victims...

OOC: How I enjoy ruining Rebel feeble dreams.

Admiral Noreto smiled smugly as he watched the Rebel Starfighters scramble and immediately move towards the lone Star Destroyer Torturator.

Information provided by now-Vice-Admiral Thrawn and his own set of conclusions had brought them to the inequivocable conclusion of a Rebel Base located in the Orath Asteroid field.

Thrawn infalible talent of reading enemy minds, combined with the careful analysis of facts by Noreto had conjured up this miracle.

The Torturator under the incompetent command of Captain Nevra had completed a simple mission with success it had confirmed the location of the base, and it had shown Noreto on which of the major asteroids the base was. While a single Star Destroyer was a dreadful sight, the clumsy maneuvers and predictable tactics may have calmed the Rebels down.

But would they be prepared for group two?

"Vice-Admiral, is group Two in position?"

"Certainly sir."

"Good, Nevra has had enough time to complete his secondary objective." Which was to get himself killed.

Thrawn smiled and his holo faded.

Judicator and five other Star Destroyers plus a dozen smaller support craft had hypered into the Orath System to pound the base. Noreto regretted the lack of a planet that could help hold the Rebels in system more so did he regret that none of the Gravity Mass Generators were available. Despite the limitations of such devices, a Star Destroyer would be rendered almost shieldless and have to divert engine power to maintaing the generator on-line, Noreto wished he could have one to trap the Rebels.

"Captain, how proceeds the battle?"

"The Torturator is shieldless but armed, Judicator is using her to cover their fighters while they exit the hangar, Major Baumer among them. X-Wings and Z-95s have moved closer to the asteroid base, most likely to protect it while they evacuate."

From a nearby seat Pellaeon reported. "Two minutes until deadline."

Two minutes until Chimaera and its six Imperial Destroyers and thrity five support craft hyped to the Orath system and complete the destruction of one of their bases.

"Are the ballistic analyses of the asteroid field complete?"

"Yes sir, they have been given to the gunners. The first volley has been calculated."

"Good, is my flagship ready?"

The Captain snapped to full martial protocol.

"The Chimaera is at your command."

Good. Noreto looked at the chrono.

"Hyperspace now."

After a few more second the third battle group entered the system. From the Chimaeras torpedo laucnhers, warheads launched aimed not at the unprepared Rebels but at the bigger asteroids, creating clouds of microasteroids that closed one of the Rebels' exits. Trapped between the Star Destroyers and the dense asteroid field, the battle raged on.

The huge mass of Rebel fighters retreated into the asteroid field. Every moment brought the personel closer to safety. The Rebels had a huge amount of fightes and a group of capitol ships to protect the transport. Squadrons of TIEs move to pursue the Rebels, eager to open a safe path for their capitol ships. They attempted to enter the asteroid field, but the turbolasers and warhead launchers opened fire and destroyed entire groups of TIEs.

The TIEs retreated and waited for the capitol ships to blast a path through the asteroid field. A corvette strayed to close and was destroyed. The large Imperial ships destroyed asteroid after asteroid, but took some return fire. Some of the smaller capitol ships withdrew to recharge their shields. Moments later, the batteries were silenced. A large amount of asteroids had been destoryed and it appeared to be safe for the TIEs.

However, as the TIEs moved in, the last batteries opened fire after they had already entered. The Rebels had fortified the area well and a few turbolasers had survived the barrage. Already within the asteroid field, the TIEs were forced to act on their own and took many casulties in the process. After dealing with the asteroids, the TIEs moved against the Rebel fighters. The masses of Rebel fighters were ready and quickly pounced. Some of the Rebel capitol ships fired at the TIEs, scattering groups.

The Rebel fighters dived upon the unsuspecting TIEs, causing them to retreat and reform momentarily, but every moment counted. The TIEs were taking terrible casulties. Without fighter cover, the Imperial ships were vulnerable. The Imperial capitol ships had moved to block the Rebel's escape, but they were thin and stretched. The Rebels would be able to punch through.

Orath has served it's purpose, many sucessful raids and Mon Calamari had joined the Rebellion. While the Empire fixed its gaze on one sector, Rebel forces moved into many others and the main Rebel force here is intact.

Jess saw the battle unfold before her. there were ISDs comong out of no were.

"Green eight, this is green five, stick with me." called Jess into her commlink.

"Lets take the TIEs to the left."

As they moved in unison towards the TIEs they came head on with a squadron.

"Crap... sick with me eight don't let them split us," she called into her commlink. She fired at the TIEs and saw some vaperize into space rubble.

She fired again this time she hit the s-link and the after another well directed shot she hit it in the engine, seconds later it exploded.

"Green leader this is green five, I hit some. Ah there are more ISDs coming out of hyperspace every second what are our orders?" she spoke into her commlink...

Not knowing what else to do, Tan covered green 5, returning fire at the oncoming fighters. This was the first real battle she'd experienced in the heavier X-wing, and all her experience on the simulators wasn't nearly enough when it came to the real thing.

Gritting her teeth, she rounded on a TIE fighter that was strafing her left side with it's laser cannons. She pumped the joystick and watched as her shots hit home on the fighters right ion engine and it exploded in a ball of fire.

"Space dust!" she yelled, forgetting her comlink was on and broadcasting everything she said to the rest of the squadron.

"Green 8, this is green leader. Keep it down would you?"

Although his words were terse, there was a hint of laughter in his voice that softened his words.

"Green leader, this is green 8. Sorry sir." She grinned, embarassed, and returned her attention to the battle. Through her viewport she could see small groups of X-wings taking on the TIE's, mostly with success. She could also see green 5 on her right, and she made sure she stayed on her tail. She wasn't going to do this alone. They just needed to buy the others some time...

Jess looked out of her view port just in time to see green 8 vaporize a TIE.

"Nice shot green eight, now lets head back to the squad," she said into her commlink.

As she guided her X-wing back to the squadron they where met by some more TIEs. She manuvered as best she could without loosing green eight, though green eight did not qiute have the confidence required for such manuveres. Jess got a couple more hits away, some hit other missed, but only just.

Once back with the squad she slowed to there speed and continued with helping them.

She was near the edge of the squad when a squadron of TIEs came over. They where firing like there was no tomorrow. One hit her.

"Green leader this is green five, I am hit. I repeat. I am hit."

Merick's Chronicle slowly exited the Asteroid base using the mass of the base to shield itself from the ISDs.

"Status of the evacuation transports?"

"Out of the five transports one has been destroyed ans two heavily damaged." answered the communication officer.

"Tell the two remaining transports to use their tractor beams to assist the damaged ones. The hole fleet is to follow us. We are going to use the gravity of the sun to accelerate to Hyperspace. Tell the fighters to escort us. And to bring the ties with them so our gunners can have a bit of fun."

The rebel fleet charged towards the system's sun. A Carrack cruiser which tried to stop was promptly deactivated by the Ion Cannons of the Chronicle.

"And also tell the fighters to keep a few proton torpedoes incase."

Tan stayed on green 5's tail with some difficulty. She pulled some tight manuevers and thought she did pretty well considering this was her first real space fight.

"When we get back I'm going to put in some serious time on the simulator" she said aloud, to no one in particular, then was glad she'd turned her comlink off.

Rejoining the squadron, she flew in tight formation. A sudden flash in the corner of her eye caught her attention and she glanced quickly left to see green 5's fighter take a hit to the wing.

Trailing smoke, green 5 peeled away from the squadron, not wanting to weaken their defence and probably hoping to get behind one of the larger ships where hopefully she could land and repair her ship.

It took Tan a moment to decide what to do, but she quickly realised she couldn't leave green 5 to battle it out on her own. Grimacing, she pulled on the joystick and followed her into the fray...

The Rebel fighters quickly moved to rejoin the fleet. They still numbered a huge amount, and had inflicted great casulties upon the TIEs. The TIEs that pursued them faced the Rebel capitol ship's gunners and were soon sent reeling. Noticing a few smaller Imperial ships poking around and the ISDs on the way, Evan knew what to do.

The Rebel fleet was massed together, and had enough firepower to repel a few Imperial ships, but they needed starfighter support. Dividing into squadrons, the X-wings and Y-wings locked onto their targets. A wave of torpedoes from Green Squadrons concentrated at the engines sent an Imperial dreadnought hoplessly spinning.

It appeared the Rebels would escape, but the TIEs came back. Rather than engage them, Evan moved closer to the Rebel fleet and let them do the work. With their TIE force taking so many casulties, even the ISDs appeared reluctant to throw themselves at the Rebels with so many fighters. Nevertheless, they charged on, but it was too late....

The Chronicle and the rest of the fleet exited the Hyperspace around the Tacnom system.

"Status."

"Most of the fleet has amassed minor damage. Our fighter squadrons did a good escort job."

"Tell All the squadrons to dock. I want The squadron leaders in the holoroom for the debriefing. Once all the fighters have docked set a course for the HQ."

On these words Merick marched of the Bridge towards the Holoroom.

Dally sat in the cockpit of his old YT-1300, the Bad Samaritan, the bright lines of hyperspace rolling around his vessel in an unending swirl. His head bobbed slowly to the cadence of light music reverberating throughout the ship. Sudeenly, the music went from a slow rythem, to a hard, fast beating of notes on a variety of musical intruments. Dallys' head slammed back and forth with the music, his long hair flying about his head.

Suddenly, the music stopped, and he looked up. A small light on his console was flashing, and he sighed. "Always when the music gets good" he mumbled to himself, and he began to flip switches on his console. He had always hated having to leave hyperspace. It was the only place where the only worries he had were his music, running out of his choice of poison, or his rickety old ship falling apart.

Almost as an afterthough, he reached into one of the pockets of his tunic, and pulled out a small stick, and stuck it in his mouth. He leaned over to the side of his char, and a small flame jetted out of the console, lighting the end of the stick on fire. Everyone always complaine dabout this habit of his, and how it would kill him in the end. But he always brushed them off. Better he smoke himself to death, then try and fly while spiced up.

Suddenly, a small alarm began to chime, and he puffed on his stick. He reached up, and pulled back on a pair of levers. He ship rocketed out of hyperspace, and he almost dropped his stick with what he saw in front of him. It looked like a small fleet of Star Destroyers were in the process of mopping up the rebel base that had been stationed in the asteroid belt. And worse yet, he had dropped out on a suicide run for the bridge of one of them.

Almost on instinct, he flicked on his deflectors, and jammed his throttle to max speed. His old vessel rocketed forward, and he slapped another button on his console. The two hidden laser connons popped out of hiding, and he fired almost immediatly, trying to spray fire into the bridge before being force to pull up. As he passed by the two giant sheild generators on top of the command tower, he sprayed laser fire into one of them, hoping to do something to them. He blasted past the star destoryer, and headed towards the asteroib belt as fast as his small vessels engines could take him there.

He took a quick glance at his sensors, and noticed the tale end of the rebel fleet heading out of system at a fast pace. As he got closer to the asteroid belt, he saw them make the jump to hyperspace. "At least those poor fools made it out." he though to himself. He jerked his ship hard to starboard to avoid a TIE fighter that appeared out of nowhere, and continued back to his course towards the asteroid belt.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

"Admiral Noreto, the Rebels are withdrawing." Lieutenant Pellaeon informed from his position.

Noreto saw the small Gallofree Transports disappearing into hyperspace.

"We destroyed two of them, and one other one has heavy damage. The Strike Cruiser and few other transports are beyond reach, we lost multiple TIE Squadrons, but managed to deal some damage to the X-Wings." Pellaeon continued.

"Sir, there is a YT-1300 entering the area." The Captain informed. "It appeared above the Ironhand and did some damage to the Sensor domes (OOC: I don't believe them to be shield gens). TIEs from Ironhand are in pursuit."

"Capture him and bring him here. Have Carrack Cruiser Ignominous aid in the capture."

As the Rebels withdrew the Chimaera and it's commading Admiral took a particular interest in the Freighter that kept evading the TIEs. Eventually the faster agile TIEs succeded in rendering the Freighter shieldless.

"Open a channel," Noreto signaled.

"Corellian Freighter Bad Samaritan stand down or be destroyed."

"I will be killed anyway," a human voice answered.

"There is no reason for killing you, unless you provide us with one. Accompany your TIE Escort to the Chimaera where we will have a discussion or be destroyed." Noreto commanded.

Dally cursed to himself, putting together combinations of words that not even he thought he was capable of. He had just gotten himself out of trouble with the empire, and here he was getting himself back into it. A warning claxon blared, and he cursed again. His shields were gone, and now those blasted ties were dealing damage to his hull. And his ship could barely withstand the rigors of flight, let alone a laser blast.

He sighed, and throttled down his engines. He knew he couldnt get away now. At least he had taken some of the ties with him. He slapped his console, and the two laser cannons retracted back into their hiding spot. he slowly tuned towards one of the Star Destoyers, and opened up his comm system.

"Bad Samaritan to.... whatever star destoyer is in front of me. I give up. Im coming in all nice and peacefull like now." he said, and he leaned back into his chair. he reached into his pocket again, and put another stick into his mouth, and lit it using his console. This had been a long day already, and was looking to get even longer.

As he flew towards the Star destroyer, he planned out in his head what his story was going to be. He wasnt going to admit outright that he was working for the rebels, but he couldnt just deny it either. He could possibly pull off a story that he had been hired as an escort vessel for a convoy. Or maybe he was just passing through system, and got spooked. One way or the other, he knew he had to make his story good.

*OOC - Yes, those are shield generators, read any of the X-wing novels, or watch the battle over endor again, when the Executor gets trashed. And speaking of getting trashed, this little smuggler is off to the local cantina!*

Tan frowned, puzzled, out of her viewport as an old Corellian freighter popped out of hyperspace and began dealing some helpful damage to the Star Destroyer and some of the remaining TIE's.

"Green 5, you still with me?" she called into her comlink. The reply was positive, and it seemed her R2-unit had managed to repair most of the damage to her X-wing without her having to dock.

"Stick with me then, I'm following this freighter. I don't know who he is or where he comes from, but he seems to be on our side and we can always do with another ally."

Quickly informing green leader of their plans, the two X-wings peeled away from the rest of the squadron and swooped in to once again find themselves surrounded by TIE fighters.

Tan had to make use of all her skills and some new experience to evade their lasers. Locking on to one of the slower TIE's, she launched a photon torpedo and was rewarded with a feiry explosion of debris.

Relying on green 5 to cover her back, she opened a channel on her comlink in an effort to get in contact with the pilot of the mysterious freighter.

"Corellian freighter, this is green 5, X-wing pilot of rebel alliance. Repeat, this is the pilot of one of the X-wings covering your butt. Unless you want to end up as Imperial dog meat, I suggest you follow us."

OOC: Read this

IC:

Admiral Noreto entered the cargo bay where a long haired man stood silently amidst a group of Stormtroopers. Behind them a group of technicians started a search of the vehicle.

"A daring maneuver, Captain. To launch yourself into the battle, rather than flee with your Rebel friends."

The other man looked at him straight in the eyes.

"I am no Rebel."

Noreto raised an eyebrow. "No? But you must have a certain reason to come this far, captain. Before you answer, I will let you know that I have a datafile with information on the Bad Samaritan and her captain and the last encounters with the Empire. So, you were saying?"
