OOC: Tan I think it's best if you don't go after him.

It felt good to be back on land again. Sure the last battle could hardly be considered a victory, but it wasn't that bad a defeat. The Rebels had done quite a lot while in Orath. From stunning raids, to liberating Mon Calamari and capturing Imperial ships. The task force had taken terrible casulties, but they now had time to rest.

The casulties would be replaced, the ships repaired. The Imperials had been hurt also. The turbolaser emplacements had destroyed a ship or two and wrecked dozens of TIEs. While the Empire had been focusing on one particular Rebel group, the bulk of the Rebel forces had set up other bases.

As he sat in though, he noticed knocking on his door. He immediatly stood up and opened the door.

"Ah Merick, how nice of you to come."

Tan swore to herself, watching as more TIE's came out of nowhere.

Realising there was no way two X-wings could take on all of them, she and green 5 pulled back to the squadron, surrendering the freighter to the Imperials and whatever fate may be in store for him...

OOC: sorry guys, got a bit confusing there for a bit, hey?!

*OOC - Im confused now, with tan trying to save me, and me already being in the hanger bay. Ill just assume i was captured. Makes things more interesting for me.*

Dally stared the cammander in the face, and wondered what to do next. They had already caught him in one lie, so now he had to make another. This was not going to be fun.

"Listen, I aint no rebel. I was hired on to escort a convoy from this system to Corellia. Thats all i was told. I had no idea they were rebels. If I had that idea, I wouldnt have taken the job." he said, confidence in his voice. Inside, he was a nervous wreck. He was born and raised on his ship, and he never felt comfterable off of it. That, and those blasted stormtroopers had taken his smoke sticks.

He thought for a moment, and spoke again. "As for me firing on your ships, anything larger than a freightor gets me spooked. Especially when I drop out of hyperspace right on top of it like that." he said, and he crossed his arms. he hoped that he could talk his way out of all of this, and maybe get a job out of it. credits were credits, no matter who was doling them out.

I once knew a great man. Nothing got to him, and he always smiled. May he forever rest in peace, knowing fully well that his freinds shall remember him.

Once back on solid ground, Jess gladly recieved a promotion to Corporal. She put the v shapes golden patch on her shoulder and wore it proudly. The battle had been an interesting one, a loss to the Rebels, but she knew they could win it back next time.

She made sure that her X-wing was fully repaired and ready to go if there was the need.

She desided to put the battle behind her for now and celebrate her promotiion.

She meet Tan in the hall of the hotel that they where staying in and said,

"Lets go celebrate my promotion at the bar."

They walked to the bar and sat down. They ordered some drinks and then just sat there talking for a while....

The shadows are my friend, for in them I find comfort.

But when it comes to war, I'll be with you in a minute.

"Star Destroyer were designed to scare people, Captain." Admiral Noreto noted. "Your reaction to it, on the other hand, cost me a six TIEs and a sensor dome."

The freighter captain seemed not to react.

"That was unexpected, as was the aid that two X-Wings gave to you. Whether a Rebel or not, a smuggler or not, a civilian or a bounty hunter, you are in the hands of the Empire now. You will provide me with all information you have about Orath Base. My stormtroopers will thoroughly search your small ship, that is now property of the Empire. And you, my Intelligence Personel and I will have a long discussion about your current allegiance. After we're through with it, and if you survive it. We will discuss you're future, which will most likely end in Kessel or Akrit'tar."

Noreto smiled not, but saw in Dally a reaction to his threats.

"Of course if you cooperate and offer to make up for the damage you caused, I may reconsider."

Major Kirk Baumer glanced down at his chrono as he slipped inot the Hanger bay. Behind him, Lara pulled her blond hair up into a ponytail and finished zipping up the flight suit over a grey shirt. On the floor between them were the tattered remains of the their insignia's which they'd proudly displayed on their shoulders.

Kirk pulled his helmet on and drew his blaster, their instructions had been specific, and he was ready to carry them out, to the letter. Kirk nodded to Lara as she pulled on her helmet.

They quietly stepped through the doors into the tie bay, where an officer swiveled toward them, "Hey, who are..." The blue flash of a stun blast lit up the room and the man crumpled. Kirk stepped past him as a pair of techs dived for their blasters above on the ramp for the TIE Advanced. He fired twice stunning the first one which clattered over the edge and fell onto the floor bellow, his shoulder popping as it hit. Kirk grit his teeth hoping his bones hadn't broken.

The final mechanic lifted his blaster and fired, the brilliant red bolt hitting Lara in the chest. She dropped to the ground with a whimper as Kirk fired on the final mechanic. He slumped onto the gratting, stunned as Kirk pulled Lara to her feet. She winced but stayed standing, "Thanks."

Thrawn had given the mechanics 'new' blasters, which unbeknownst to them had been modified to fire much less powerful blasts. None of the stunned men had any inkling it was all a ruse as Kirk stepped across them and rushed up and onto the tie's hull.

He keyed the hatch and dropped inside as a crewman, neither Lara or he had seen rushed along the wall to a panel and slammed his hand upon it. A siren whirred as Kirk lifted his craft off the deck and angled for space. Seconds later a second tie advanced was in the air heading for the mag com field and space.

As he soared through the field Kirk could almost image Thrawn in his command chair snapping out orders. As the two ships flashed down from the hanger bay a rain of green turbolaser flashed at them from above. Against conventional wisdom Kirk and Lara angled up skimming their craft along the grey hull of the starship. A blast shot from the star destroyer's leading edge and slammed through Lara's shields boiling away a portion of her port solar panel.

Through their personal commlink Kirk heard Lara curse, "A little live fire? A little?" She slowed from the loss of power but kept going and Kirk slipped into wingman position. Kirk glanced back through his rear viewport to see the star destroyer's hulk eclisping the sun. The glint of grey metal below the craft revealed a flight of ties in their wake.

Kirk sighed as he glanced at the sesnors, Thrawn had decided to commit his only flight of TIE interceptors, "Uh oh...can they catch us?"

Lara's voice was sarcastic, "Just watch." With a flash of pseudomotion her fighter disappeared into hyperspace, Kirk wasn't far behind.

"Hello Evan" said Merick as he entered Rechtmann's cabin.

"So what brings you here?" asked Evan as he got them drinks

"Are you familiar with the name Baumer?"

"Isn't he the leader of Raptor Squadron? The Imperial Experimental Squadron. What about him?"

"He and his major have just defected."

Evan nearly droped his glass upon hearing the news.

"Why the hell did he defect?"

"it isn't yet sure. He and his Major arrived at Dantoine onboard 2 experimental Ties yesterday. The reason I am her is to tell you that you and your squadron are coming on board the Chrincle with me. He are going to pick up Baumer."

OOC: Um, those globes on the command towers have to be shield generators. Why? Because after they were destroyed by the A-Wing, Ackbar said "Thier shields are down". Why else? Because if they were sensor globes, they would have been protected by the shilds. If they were shiled generators they would NOT be protected. The generators would have to create a conical field that would not include them. WHY ELSE? Because every TIE fighter game, and X-Wing Alliance, all trademarked and copyrighted property of LucasArts games and there for of George Lucas, say they are. I know that in interviews with some Lucasfilm personell they were quoted as aying they were sensor domes, but I've yet to hear any concrete arguments that would suport that...

IC: Thrawn stared out the viewport as the two ships dissapeared into hyperspace. The flight of Interceptors was returning to the hold.

"Sir, shal we persue?"

"No, let them go."

Thrawn spun and walked off the command deck. Everything was proceeding as planned.

History is on the move, Captain. Those who cannot keep up with it will be left behind, to watch from a distance. And those who stand in our way will not watch at all.

OOC: The original official blueprints confirm them as being sensor domes.

IC: The whole bridge paralyzed when the two Hyperspace-capable TIEs had escaped into hyperspace, with a squadron of Interceptor behind them. Pellaeon looked dismay and the captain merely disappointed.

Admiral Noreto on the other hand smiled shortly then issued orders to start leaving the system. A few Carracks and some special team would be left to search the ruines of the Orath Base.

"Lieutenant I will be in my command room, tell the Admiral on the Vengeance that I will expecting a report of the events, and make a list of all possible destinations for the TIEs."

"Yes, sir."

Evan followed Merick, but he remained skeptical. Why would the Empire's grestest pilot want to defect? Surely something was up. They couldn't trust him, but they might as well give a chance. His squadron had killed so many Rebel pilots....Evan wanted nothing to do with him.

He sat the whole voyage in thought. The squadron's X-wings were prepared, that the Imperials would immediatly attack them wasn't out of the question. Or it could be espionage. There was no way these Imperials were actually going to join the Rebellion. Evan would keep his guard up. Suddenly, the ship came out of hyperspace in one of the lesser Rebel bases. Show time.

OOC: Sorry that was short, I didn't make it dantooine because if the Imps knew about dantooine (!!!!)

Dally twitched slightly, kessel was not a place he wanted to end up. But then, the captain had made mention of possibl getting out of all of this. Possibly a job? He sighed, and pondered this for a moment.

"Listen, i dont know nothing about any base here in Orath. I didnt even know this sytem existed until I took this job on. Like I told you, I was hired on to help escort a convoy to Corellia." he said, and he clasped his hands behind him.

"As for my ship, they can search it all they want. Short of maybe some brandy, they wont find any contraband. Ill even open up the hidden spots so you can search them. I took this job all legal like. But, if you want me to pay you back for the losses ou suffered, I could take jobs from you to. I really dont care." he said, and he pondered his situation carefully. He was more annoyed than anything else, he hated being in situations like these. But no matter how bad things seemed, they always worked out for him in the end.

OOC: Was gone for some time; officially I was at Mon Cal, overseeing the repairs of the defenses.

Also I think I agree with the SDs' thingies being sensor domes, but mostly I assume a compromise for them also serving the role of shield projectors for enhanced protection of the bridge. So, say, in case of the Executor, if the Bridge Deflector Screens (quote: Piett) were destroyed, only the normal shields that cover the rest of the ship were protecting the bridge. and if they are gone - Well, just my interpretation, trying to combine the two theories.

IC: The holoscreen flicked to life and a blurry yet distinctive shape appeared - a human woman in white senator's clothes with dignified features. Her voice was warped due to the scrambling - a security measure used for all long-range transmissions. "Advisor Ackbar", she said, "how have you been since your return?"

"Senator." Ackbar said, bowing slightly. He gestured at a young Calamari female next to him, only about half his size, looking curiously at the screen. "I was gone so long." he said. "I didn't even know I had a niece. Jesmin, say hello to Senator Mothma." The girl giggled and waved at the hologram, but remained silent. Mon Mothma smiled lightly.

"I realize your call is associated with more than asking for my well-being." he said, gesturing for his niece to leave the room. "We are working on the repairs of the defense forces, but the last imperial attack hurt us badly. we have been able to recover the medium cruiser's hull and our most skilled technicians are working on building a new ship out of her, and two more passenger liners have been converted into light warships, but we've not been able to replace our losses."

Mothma frowned and nodded. "I know. That is what I called you for. We need additional resources. Weapons, supplies, bacta, fuel. We cannot produce them, so..."

"So you want us to...liberate them from the Empire."

"Our target is a supply fleet that will meet with a patrol force soon. The coordinates and time will be given to you in a seperate transmission."

Ackbar shook his head. "Why do you contact me? My work here is not yet finished. Surely your tacticians will see--"

"The attack is already scheduled. I wanted you to join so we can demonstrate unity. The newly-gained Mon Calamari members fighting alongside our veterans. We were hoping you could spare one of your ships."

Ackbar considered. He typed his datapad and looked at another screen. After a moment he returned his attention to the Senator. "I will bring in Liberty. But I must be allowed to finish my work afterwards."

Mon Mothma nodded. "Thank you." She said, then her image faded.

OOC: Corrected the post, I now asked the Admiral at the Vengeance for a report. :P

IC: "I'm sure you will provide Imperial Intelligence with hours of amusing conversation, after that we will talk about your payment." Noreto signaled the stormtroopers to take him away.

Noreto doubted that this Dally was as innocent as he pretended, nor seemed he a complete Rebel. Noreto may have some uses for him, that may depend of the report he would receive from Thrawn.

Noreto left the hangar with one of the bottles of Churban Brandy that the Stormtroopers had uncovered.

Dally sighed heavily. He knew how these Intelligence types worked, her had been through it all before. He also knew this wasnt going to be pleasent. But on the other hand, they hadnt shot him yet. Which was always a good thing. But then again, he WAS being escorted by stormtroopers.

As they walked along the halls of the vessel, he shuddered slightly. The farther he got from his ship, the less comfterable he was. That, and the sterile enviroment of the Star Destroyer made him sick to his stomach. It was just to clean. He already missed the musty smell of his ship.

He sighed again,. and pushed the memory of his ship out of his mind, and prepared for the upcoming mind battle with the intelligence twerps. he had messed with the minds of their kind before, and he figured he could do it again. At least, he hoped he could.

The Chronicle slowly came in to dock on one of the moons of the unmaed M3465 system. A Lieutenant escorted Evan and Merick across the base to where Baumer and his Major were waiting. The two Gnerals entered the room. Baumer the two defectors were sitting at a table chatting silently.

"Commander Baumer. " said Merick as he shook hands with Baumer. "I am General Merick Ioor and this is Gneral Evan Rechtmann leader of Green Squadron. We are going to escort you to our HQ."

Baumer shook hands with Evan. Both stayed like that for a moment glaring at each other. Merick noticied that each one seemed to be squeezing the other one's hand harder and harder.

Merick indicated the Major.

"I do not think we have been presented."

The two pilots let go of each others hand.

"Oh, yes this is Major Lara Jules, my second in command," Kirk replied his voice shakey. He felt uncomfortable standing there, and that was because simply, he was now out fo uniform, wearing just a slick grey jumpsuit, which had no bearings on rank at all.

Still Kirk could tell this was a man worth respecting, an enemy, but a proficient one that believed in his cause and that what he was doing was right. To Kirk though, it came down to methods and beliefs, working with pirates, and smugglers, those people truly were scum, and these rose sharply against his most closely held lust for security and stability, which was what the empire had provided.

A slight smile crossed his lips, "I suppose you got my package?"

Merick's face somewhat seemed to pale, "What package would that be Commander?"

"You recieved a full design schematics of the V-38 along with its engines, I suppose Dodonna's off trying to use them somehow," Kirk grinned at the shooked expression of the rebels, "I knew you were using the Academy for intelligence, Jan certainly sticks out like a green thumb." Kirk smiled, yes that would give them something to consider.

Merick slowly leaned back in his chair, "What are you offering?"

"I'm offering our services as experienced starfighter pilots, and all the information I have on the Empire's current stategy...which isn't much, I'm just a small player after all."

Fel breathed heavy behind him.

For twenty years the two Jedi had walked and across the dense forests of Devaron. For days had they ran without rest, escaping from the wondered patrols of the Empire. Without any particular direction or purpose the two Jedi kept running, conversation had been more scarce than Imperial Patrols. The older Jedi would at times give instrunctions to Fel, or call for halt, occasionally he would mouth a warning.

On even fewer occasions had the Jedi used the Force other than strengthening their tired bodies.

Today was a special day, the usual silence had been broken by Trej's effort to whistle a song. The rhythm Fel could not recognize, and in time the song grew more and more annoying.

"Would you rather sing it than whistle it." Fel said, his voice came tired.

"I would, if I knew it, I know only the last verses, it is a rather old and long song.

He does not hate,

nor does he love.

No fear he knows,

From life his power flows.

Fear him not

Love him not

Honest ever is his word

The warrior with the sword.

Guardian of the Force,

for thee is my song. "

"An Alderaanian song?" Fel asked.

"Yes, a girl sang it to me, when I was elevated to Jedi Master on Coruscant, a present to me from Senator Organa." Trej remembered.

"Trej, what are we doing here?" Fel asked and stopped, for days had he not stopped.

"Waiting." Trej answered as he too slowed down.

"For what?"

Trej shrugged.

"How far are we from our fighters?" Fel asked.

"One or two kilometers; we've walked a rather long circle."

"Two weeks, to be right at the beginning?"

"No, two weeks for you to learn something new. Tomorrow we will leave the planet, and go to another place for another two weeks, for you to think over what you have learnt?"

"Learnt? You haven't taught anything!" Fel snorted accusingly.

"I never said I taught something, but you have learnt much." Trej answered and slowly walked away guiding the younger Jedi to their fighters.

Fel wondered at his words and followed him in their usual silence.

Two stormtroopers dragging a man entered the command room of the Chimaera. Admiral Noreto ordered the stormtroopers to leave the man on the chair and leave.

In the center of the room, a table had been set with two chair facing each other in the far ends of the table. Assorted dishes and a bottle of Churban Brandy eagerly waited for the two human to start their meal.

"I trust Lieutenant Crovius provided entertainment for these days?" Noreto asked.

The smuggler blinked stupidly, to weak to snap back at the Admiral he just extended his hand at the glass. Noreto served him a generous amount of brandy and then served himself.

Dally drank the liquor and seemed to gain some strength, and smiled weakly at Noreto. Only with a strong effort managed the smuggler to keep from falling into the Krevassan Bantha Steak in Boorian Sauce.

"I must inform you that the results of your interrogation were nonconclusive, interrogations managed to patch some of the reports we already had about you and your ship, but provided no proof of recent Rebel contacts. My Intelligence Chief suggested that you may have some extraordinary ability to hide certain facts from his probing, but to me you are nothing but a smuggler and a drunkard. Official protocol would ask me to send you to Coruscant, where Director Isard would figure out all the dark little secrets you may have, but I may have a different use for you at this stage."

Noreto put a piece of the meat in his mouth. "Are you not hungry, Captain?" Noreto asked politely and the smuggler blinked again as he focused on the plate served for him. Probably under the effect of some of the interrogation drugs, the smuggler only stared at the plate.

"In your file there is a report on a Rebel Contact in Mantooine, our Intel teams have confirmed that the Contact is still there, as soon as you leave the Chimaera you will head for Mantooine and link up to this contact and offer to sell them a particular bit of information, the information is valuable, and they will ask you to take it to a safer location, a strong Rebel base, you will do business as usual and report the location of the base, and a summary of their fleets. Do you understand?"

The smuggler nodded and his head sank again.

The Admiral took another bit of meat and swallowed it, before calling the stormtrooper commanders.

The white-armored soldiers entered the room and handed the Admiral with his rifle.

Noreto set the blaster on stun and shot at point-blank on the smuggler.

Drifiting in space, Dally woke up in the cockpit of his space ship. On a small create was the rest of his Krevassan Bantha Steak in Boorian Sauce and a bottle of Churban Brandy. On the floor his astromech replayed a holo with the briefing that Noreto had given him earlier.

Behind him a little droid tooted. "What are you complaining of? Did those Intel guys take you apart too?"

The droid shut down and Dally frowned. "Nah, let's hear that briefing again?"

The droid remained silent and replayed the briefing.

OOC: Sorry for putting that much talk in your mouth Dally, and inventing a droid for you, but I needed him for the story. Needless to say the droid has the valuable information, and also the special frequency to contact me later, plus a little something from Imperial Intelligence to ensure your cooperation

Commander Baumer was being interogated by intelligence teams and was of no great importance as of the moment. Meanwhile Evan had recieved no orders. The Rebellion was preparing an assault on a small Imperial fleet while it was being resupplied. Ackbar would lead the assault, from the bridge of the Liberty.

The objectives were simple, destroy and perhaps captures the Imperial ships and captures the entire supply convoy. Numerous Imperial ships would be there, but very few SDs. The Chronicle and Evan's X-wings were obviously to be involved. In adition, numberous other Rebel fighter squadrons and capitol ships were to take part.

The operation was not to far away. It had to be executed perfectly without any unessacary casulties. Evan's pilots had to be at tip top shape. That would not be a problem...

Evan had already called his pilots for a briefing. Soon enough they would all arrive. They would all be disappointed to be back working so hard. Nevertheless they would be ready for action. As Evan thought, the first pilots arrived.

"Ah Jess...." [/i]

Jess was in bed fast asleep when the call came, but she was up in a flash and ready to go. The briefing had been called and they where to make there way there in an hour sharp. She got dressed into her pilots suit and packed her bags ready to leave...

1 hour later:

Jess walked into the briefing room and saw Evan standing by the table.

She stood to attention then saluted.

"Nice to see you again sir," she said smiling.

"Its been a long time... to long if you ask me."

"What is our new assignment sir?" she asked still standing to attention....
