The game does have a lot in it. It's not just about raising an army to battle with. Not only do you have to spend time and resources making weapons and recruiting troops, but you also have to build farms to grow food. On top of that you have to gather materials such as wood, stone, and metals to build your castle, other buildings, and weapons. The way things have been going so far: by the time I have my castle's keep enclosed by walls and towers, Dracula attacks with his ladder men, which allow his knights, werewolves, etc to scale my walls with ease. He also brings catapults which punch holes in my walls, and gigantic bats which crash into the ground and seriously wound a good number of my troops. The good thing about playing as Arthur is that you can summon Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table...for a price of course. I haven't played as Siegfried yet, but he has Frost Giants under his command.

This week I got: Stronghold: Legends for the PC. This game is a RTS castle-building game with mythical elements in it, such as: dragons, wizards, werewolves, etc. You can play as either King Arthur, Vlad Dracula, or Siegfried. So far, this game has proven to be rather difficult, and I'm still trying to develop a strategy to beating my enemies.

I saw Superbad and I have to say it was the funniest movie this year. I also saw Halloween and walked into it fearing it would be a gorefest like House of a 1000 Corpses. I walked out of Halloween surprisingly happy. I liked how it explored more of Myers' background and what made him into a monster.

I'm currently reading Star Wars: Dark Lord - The Rise of Darth Vader. I'm a little more than half-way through it and it is turning out to be a very good read.

The Millenium Falcon even got some screen time in the PT, Episode III to be exact. Yes, I was surprised Han didn't appear in the PT, as it would seem everyone else did in some form or another. Oh, and Lando didn't appear either. I wonder who was piloting the Falcon in Episode III...

Can Vader absorb/deflect Force Lightning?
Sinister replied to Sinister's topic in General Discussion
I too believe that Vader does have some feeling in his artificial limbs. Maybe it is not quite as fine as the real thing. However, when Luke hacked off Vader's hand in ROTJ, Vader screamed in pain. I also think the idea that Vader was winded after his battle with Luke is a good explanation. That being combined with the fact that he had just lost a limb and the pain that goes with it, plus sounding like he was having more difficulty breathing could explain why he didn't/couldn't defend himself from the lightning. On the subject of The Rise of Darth Vader, you would think that the Emperor would give Vader better equipment. After all, he wanted Anakin because of his awesome Force potential. I guess Palpy had to keep him on a short leash though. -
I was thinking about this awhile back and wanted to see what some of the people on this board thought about it. There seems to be two camps when concerned with how Vader defended himself from Han Solo's laser blasts in ESB. One side claims he absorbed/deflected the blasts using the Force, while another claims that it was deflected due to the material his glove was composed of. The majority of people I've come across seem to believe it was a Force ability which defended Vader. This ability to deflect energy also appears in the PT, where both Yoda and Count Dooku deflect and/or absorb Force Lightning. This leads me to wonder if Vader can do the same. I'm sure everyone's immediate thought is that if Vader could then why didn't he defend himself against the Emperor's lightning at the end of ROTJ? That almost answered my question without any doubt, but then why didn't Yoda absorb/deflect the Emperor's lightning when he first walked into his office in ROTS? That blast knocked Yoda clear across the room. And even thought he absorbed/deflected some if it earlier, it looked as though Yoda was having trouble doing it. Is it possible that Vader to some extent to another can absorb/deflect Force Lightning? If he can, why didn't he when he turned on the Emperor? Here's some ideas I had: - He couldn't defend himself against the level the Emperor could dish out. - He didn't want to, and wanted to sacrifice himself out of guilt over his past sins. - The absorb/deflect ability is one that involves a hand/s, even a mechanical one like Vader's. Vader's remaining limb was not available as he used it to lift the Emperor. What do you all think?

Since GL is constantly going back and making changes to the OT, maybe he will one day use his editing and CGI technology to remove the Ewoks from ROTJ and replace them with Wookies. That wouldn't be easy, and a lot of the lines would have to be replaced. Luke, Han, and company would probably have to be CGI too in order for it to work in some parts. As for some things I do not like: - Hayden Christensen replacing Sebastian Shaw as the spirit of Anakin Skywalker in ROTJ. That makes absolutely no sense at all. I can just imagine the spirits of Yoda and Kenobi saying "Hey! How come you get to be young again and we're old?" - I like Count Dooku, but I don't like the name Dooku. It just sounds cheesey. I think they could have picked a cooler sounding name. On top of that, since Dooku is supposed to be a Sith, where are his Sith eyes? Truth be told, before AOTC came out I was hoping for a female Sith Lord. I think that would have been cooler. - Greedo shooting first. - Vader's washed out, pink looking lightsaber in ROTJ. There's parts where it looks really bad.

Concerning those of us who are not happy with the work GL has done in recent years, this video might help shed some light on a few things. (It plays after the advertisement.) http://www.ifilm.com/video/2474284

So what about the upcoming Star Wars TV series? Do you think it will be any good? It is supposed to be set in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
-
I agree. I much prefer the classic "Bring my shuttle." to the "Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." Gosh, Lucas has really wrecked the OT.
-
If they were going to remake the OT, it would probably be best to get unknown actors. That way they are not associated with anything else they may have worked on in the past. I was thinking that Michael Clarke Duncan could probably do Darth Vader's voice. I don't know about you all, but Hayden Christensen's portrayal of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader isn't anything how I pictured the Sith Lord in his younger years.

I forgot that I have that one too. Thanks for reminding me.

ROTJ: Luke fighting Vader with a blue lightsaber video
Sinister posted a topic in General Discussion
Has anyone seen this before? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJOGMQJeQjQ From what I understand, Lucas wanted Luke to have a blue lightsaber in ROTJ, but they had trouble making it show up in the Tatooine scenes. -
Things that make me want to scream: - Boba Fett's altered voice. The original voice was better and menacing. Just because he's Jango's clone doesn't mean he has to sound exactly like him. - Vader's pink lightsaber. Some parts on there it doesn't look bad, but there are others where it looks horrible. - Hayden Christensen replacing Sebastian Shaw as the ghost of Anakin Skywalker.
-
Just out of curiosity, does anyone else get annoyed with how ever since the PT has come out some people love to bash Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader? They especially seem to like to go after Vader, saying anyone from the PT, including a padawan could mop the floor with him in a fight. Yes, his lightsaber duels aren't as flashy, but the movies were made almost 30 years ago.
-
My favorite era was probably 91-97. It was during that time that I developed a deep love for the series. I watched the movies, bought some of the new action figures, and some of the comics too. The Special Editions weren't that bad either. When Lucas announced that he was making a Prequel Trilogy I was excited. The PT left much to be desired. There were a lot of things about it that I thought could have been better. I fail to see GL's logic in some of his decisions concerning the PT and trying to fit it with the OT. It seems like he could have made it more seamless so that they would fit together better. He went back to the OT, changed it up, added and subtracted, to make it fit the PT. It should have been the other way around. Don't get me wrong, I like the PT to an extent. But for all of its razzle-dazzle, it can't compare to the awesomeness of the OT (unedited version of course).

This game is Tyber Zaan's debut. He has never appeared in any Star Wars related material before. I am hoping they will release a 3rd expansion for EAW. I would like to see something set in the Clone Wars era.

In how much time do the events in each SW film occur?
Sinister replied to Sinister's topic in General Discussion
Thanks, but that is not what I mean by time. I meant time as in terms of how it related to the characters and story. For example, how long did it take Vader's fleet to reach Hoth after the probes made their discovery? Did it take them days or weeks to get there? Now take that to a larger scale. From the beginning of the movie to the end, how much time has passed? Days, weeks, months? -
Does anyone know or want to guess in how much time do the events in each Star Wars film occur? For example: In ESB, from the moment the Empire sends out probe droids to the moment Luke and Leia look out across the galaxy aboard a medical ship, how much time has passed? I'm not really sure about some of them because often in the movies some of the characters are traveling across the galaxy at light speed, but for all I know it could take hours or even days for them to reach their destination. So, - Phantom Meanace - Attack of the Clones - Revenge of the Sith - A New Hope - Empire Strikes Back - Return of the Jedi Anyone have some ideas?

Thanks.

As some of you may know, Empire at War and its expansion Forces of Corruption are both modifiable. I would like to add some new hero units for ground combat, but I have no experience what so ever with 3D modeling. Someone was suggesting that I could a program called Blender to pull it off, but I don't know if that is really what I would need. Could anyone maybe make some recommendations as to how I can accomplish this? I would also need some tutorials, as again I am completely new to this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I got Empire at War earlier last year, then I got the Forces of Corruption expansion when it came out. There are some things about it that I like, and others I do not. For example: Things I don't like: - You can have only so many ships on screen in space battle. - Heroes can't use their special abilities against other heroes. Example, Vader can't use Force Push against Luke Skywalker, but he can use it against a regular soldier. - No missions, such as diplomacy, sabotage, espionage, etc. Things I do like: - More action. - A 3rd faction is included with the expansion. Plus, the game can be modified to add more factions. Note: In the expansion, Luke Skywalker is available as a ground unit. The Super Star Destroyer is available too, as is more characters such as Grand Admiral Thrawn.
