  1. I think it's just because Stackpole and Alston are superb authors So I finally saw most of the books I was missing... At the bookstore... When I had no money on me. Always annoying...
  2. Just made a chamber box with extended primatives and cut out all of the other pieces... I kind of want to learn to texture stuff, now... Edit: The Toaster is now rendered and given lighting effects. Props to Mad for giving me large amounts of help. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a169/DarthTofu/NicerToaster.jpg Mad: Okay, where are you now? Me: Erm, it says something about the base code here... Mad: What? Your in the base code? We were just in lighting effects! How the hell did you get there? Me: I don't know! Mad: Okay, hit back a bunch of times you fool. Me: Well... You talk funny! So hah! Mad: Yes, we've established that. English is a secondary language for me. Me: ... Well you still talk funny. Mad: *Sigh* Where are you now? Me: Erm... it says something about would I like to take over Microsoft, now? Mad: The hell is wrong with you?!?
  3. ZOMG Double post!!!!1 Righto: I'm finally contributing something to this thread rather than just ogling. Here are my first 'creations' in 3Ds Max 9, made possible by FIRST Robotics, AutoDesk, and Mad's helpful skyping keeping me sane throughout the whole... erm, most of... some of the process. My first creation: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a169/DarthTofu/Imalittleteapot.jpg It's a teapot (Standard thing that's stored on the program) on top of a pillar that I made and turned into a single object through several deletions of faces and attachments. My second creation: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a169/DarthTofu/Toaster.jpg It's a rather crappy toaster that I made. Yes, I know that I managed to mess up the back end of it, but the cutting process is rather screwy involving vertexes that are connected. It's all rather inane (Not insane, inane) and screwy in my opinion- like having a really sharp knife to cut stuff with, but you have to grasp it using your elbow to cut. *Wanders off grumbling about how, if AutoDesk already makes Inventor, they can't just use the same interface for making 3D objects in Max* Edit:www.personal.utulsa.edu/~austin-hines/beach.mov That's entirely 3D. There are some ridiculously awesome 3D images on Facebook groups that people made...
  4. Santa? I already knew about the X-wing Santa, but I didn't know about the other two... Probably because I don't own Lego Star Wars.
  5. I personally liked Han's Ryn friend, but he was sent off come Balance Point (Piece of crap that it was) I personally liked the Dark Tide, Edge of Victory, and Behind Enemy Lines duologies. 'Course I haven't managed to secure the other half of the Behind Enemy Lines Duology, nor have I finished all of the novels (Damn this island for not having a diverse enough library!) but I did still like them... Favorite characters: Anakin Solo, Corran Horn, Ganner Rhysode, Wedge Antilles.
  6. Rather warm down here. Christmas was spent in shorts and a T-shirt. Heck, I went surfing on the 24th- didn't even need the wet suit I had on, really. The sickness stuff went through my part of the world, too, (It was something like 79 degrees outside on Christmas day and I wound up spending it in jeans and a sweat shirt) as well as my family.
  7. Much appreciated, Mad. Still haven't installed it yet (Doctor Who was still downloading and took up a lot of bandwidth that the program would have needed) but before the day is up I'll try to make a sphere or something to test my abilities... Heehee... It's finally here...
  8. *Picks up jaw off of the floor* here you go... I suppose I made a mistake in writing "Yuzhan Vong" as opposed to "Yuuzhan Vong," it's just that I pronounce the name in my head as if there were only one "u." At any rate, they spread through the New Republic and slaughtered something north of seven trillion sentient beings, I believe.
  9. We all exist in the force... Except for the Yuzhan Vong among us, like Tej.
  10. This seemed like the place to put this: I got fan-tab-ulous late Christmas gift today! The gift of 3Ds Max 9! (It just happens to be about three weeks late from when I was supposed to get it ) Anyway, it isn't installed yet (Getting my Sims-addicted mother an expansion pack for "The Sims II" was rather stupid of me in retrospect ) but I do in fact now have some of the most powerful commercial 3D animation software on the open market! *Does a funky dance* Now if my inner ear would stop telling me that sideways is down this day would be awesome...
  11. Nice photoshopping there, Mad I might replace my current sig with that...
  12. Everyone's opinions of the Yuzhan Vong. I personally thought that the Vong books were spectacular- nobody was safe. You were actually concerned when you read the books, and ever when you reread them you wonder who will survive, even if you already know who will and won't. Edit: Doh! I meant to say New Jedi Order. My bad...
  13. You have a good costume, but the bandana really ruins the effect- get something black with the skull and crossed bones mostief (sp?) if you want to look like a real (And by "real" I mean "Hollywood") swashbuckler! Edit: Maybe Lucas isn't all that big of a jackass...
  14. Mad, you're gonna be so plastered after New Years that it'll take you a full year to yank yourself off of the wall! What did you drive to haul all of that stuff away? Jeeze... I might come over to Switzerland for your party, mate. I still have *Glances at watch* hardly any time to do so!
  15. We do care, BS. We just don't show it in any way, shape, or form that you or any other life form from this planet can recognize. It helps that half of us aren't from Earth in the first place... *Wanders off to his TARDIS*
  16. My dad got a book full of stupid actions performed by stupid people for Christmas, including an issue McDonalds had with Russian customers who were offended when cashiers smiled at them, which resulted in employees walking about with megaphones, explaining to customers that they would by smiled at, and that it was not intended to be an insult.
  17. Family makes the holidays all the better, SOCL. There may be moments when you aren't particularly glad to be around them, but they make those times infinately better. That's my experiance, anyway. Holidays are far less fun with only half the family involved.
  18. *Sniffle* that's beautiful! Congrats to you and your friend, Rob- are you going to be the best man at the wedding?
  19. Happy holidays, folks! My whole family is home, so I will be having a good time with them all...
  20. Contact AI- that sounds like his area of expertise.
  21. Turtle's back! Yay! Old forum members returning- that's a good wish to have come true!
  22. Spectacular Mon Cal cruiser! I'm assuming you've been working on that one for the longest? Very nice looking stuff- the music really completes it.
  23. Spectacular job on that, whoever made it! It looked just like an old-timey movie...
  24. Minute 1) Eh, that's not so hot- I could do something like that with a bit of time! Minute 2) Okay, shading-wise I'm not that great, I couldn't quite make it that good. Minute 3) Holy crap! Stop it! You're using twelve colors of shading! I can't keep up! Slow down! ARGH! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!!!!1 Seriously, that was really impressive, though... I could make some of that, but I can't do multi-tone stuff. I have two shades of color: The base color and the 'shiny color,' which is almost always white and reserved for metals.
  25. My favorite character is Sandy. Yeehaw! How old did you say you were, Tex? I believe he's told us all that he remembers when the sand was all just a bunch of boulders. Besides, senile people are entitled to cling desperately to a long-lost childhood in the form of stupid syndicated characters who appear on all sorts of lunch boxes and desperately attempt to appeal to audiences of all ages. Besides-he's a Texan. Spongebob is considered an educational program.
