  1. (II think part of it might be based on the order in which the books are read. I read through the X-wing books before the Zahn books and liked the former far over the latter. You read Zahn first I assume, and thus had the opposite reaction because the former clashed with the latter. I propose an experiment: We conk twenty people over the head and stick them in locked rooms with copies of the X-wing books and copies of the Thrawn books. We make ten of them read X-wing first and ten read Thrawn first. Then we kill them to avoid being identified to the police. Who's with me! (I'm joking, officer. Honestly, I'm joking!)
  2. The resemblance is uncanny... I must dye my skin purple to make it even more uncanny! PS: You always wondered about my pic. And seeing as I posted it only a day or two ago you only wondered for a little while.
  3. I stuck myself on Nal Hutta strictly because that's where I personally want to be. The timeline can accelerate as becomes necesarry, and people's stories can even take place during differant time frames if need be. I personally chose Nal Hutta because of the wookiepedia article on it. Apparently the place gets turned into a very green planet. It gets some resistance supplies, and I figured it could be some Vong testing for planet shaping techniques intended for use on Coruscant. *shrugs* You can be wherever you want to be and whenever you want to be, though.
  4. I still love this from the "Coolest thing ever" vote... I figured I'd throw the link in so that this wasn't a stupid spam thread- tell us what you vote for and why... Only one vote per person, unfortunately... I'm still deciding, though I'm leaning toward Ganner's Last Stand...
  5. We'll agree to disagree, SOCL Corran actually does change, in my opinion. He comes in with stereotypical views of good and evil, and wrestles with them quite a bit as he tries to figure out if someone who runs about breaking laws designed to protect people can still be a good person. He ultimately does come to his decision (I'm not going to say what it is, and you might want to take out the most memorable death in the EU ever (after Chewie's), SOCL ) Throw in Wedge's budding relationship with Iella which he ultimately leaves to Aalston to complete, as well as Tycho and Winter... I thought he did a better job at it, personally. I also really liked how he set up for later books, like when he mentioned the Katana Fleet and brought in Karde. (Even though it's partially because he and Zahn are huge collaborators) Only thing that annoyed me too much was the Aalderanian (sp?) assault cruiser... The stupidity kinda hurt. And I was pretty shocked when Bror Jace died! Though I will still proclaim that I liked Alston's stuff better than Stackpole's in the X-wing series. NJO I'd say that the two tied with one another.
  6. Maybe it was because everyone building the new Death Star knew what they were doing as a result of having built the first one. Yeah, I know, retarded... Still, the originals were good movies. And I'll point out that rather substantial chunks of the Death Star were missing, including where I think any propulsion system would go. That would be rather complex and the like. *Shrugs* Oo, plus they don't have to spearhead the technology in this new Death Star. They already have it... It makes a certain degree of sense, though ultimately it would have been brighter if Lucas left the new Death Star out of ROTS.
  7. Oh yeah, I've read all of the X-wing books. The Rogue Squadron ones are very good in terms of plot and character development. The Wraith Squadron ones lack a bit in character development, but are far funnier. It actually hurts when one of the Wraiths dies, especially when- oh, wait, I won't ruin who dies for you. But they're great books. Only one I don't own is Wedge's Gambit (Or gamble, forget which). Starfighters of Adumar is still my all-time favorite. Hobby: Please tell me you're not putting us in women's clothing. Wedge: All right. I'm not putting us in women's clothing. *Five minutes later* Hobby: You lied to me. Wedge: Yeah, but it kind of should have been really obvious. Besides, the dress looks nice on you. Alston and Stackpole both wrote NJO books later on. Stackpole did the Dark Tide duology, Alston did the Enemy Lines duology. Both are quite good, with some rather amazing parts toward their ends. I really wish I hadn't ruined them by reading the Wookiepedia articles on the Yuuzhan Vong war before I read them...
  8. I'm fifteen, almost sixteen. Not that young, but certainly not that old. And yes, it is me. Put it on YTMND- maybe I'll become an internet sensation if someone puts "WTF" under it or something. I frightened Rob, though. That's just made my day.
  9. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Rebellion:_My_Brother%2C_My_Enemy So apparently we had a comic series we never knew about... That wasn't even related to the game. On a side note: Vote
  10. OOC: I got bored with waiting for other people to notice "Resistance Cells" in here, so I'm just going to start the RPG. If nobody else joins I have a fairly good plot planned out for my guy already, so I'll havot it alone... Because everyone else was too lazy to join. IC: I jumped to the side as another chunk of Nal Hutta smashed into the road before me. My black and silver armor absorbed the shock of a few stray pebbles without incident, but I really didn't feel like testing the material against those Plasma ejecta that were causing the destruction. The only safe place at the moment was the sewer or, relatively speaking, in one of the refugee ships making a break for it. I would have loved to take my third option, my own ship, but unfortunately it appeared that refugees has beaten me to my modified blastboat and appropriated anything useful by way of launch gear from it. A pile of bodies near it stood honor to my ship's defenses, but overwhelming numbers had taken those down as well as my sub-light engines and repulsors. The former would be difficult to replace, the latter simple enough. Assuming I survived. More ejecta rained down and I continued to run with no clear-cut destination. I had no intention of standing and fighting, or even fighting in the first place if I could help it. This was a powerful force, and one that the Mandalore was planning on goading along under a pretended alliance. A smile cracked my lips. Maybe I should be fighting them. The fact that I was an outcast from the society, one who traditionally broke honor codes and the like, sometimes just for what appeared to be the fun of it, my further the Mandalorian cause. Yet again: Assuming I wasn't killed. A massive crater the size of a small apartment erupted twenty meters in front of me as a coralskipper spiraled, out of control, into the street. The blast sent bodies and parts of bodies flying, eliminating any nearby traffic problems. I quietly thanked both the dead pilot and the one who'd shot him down as I felt I might owe them both something. Maybe a large something. At the lowest point of the crater, below its relative meniscus, was a minuscule access point to the sewers. Not large enough for a high degree of traffic, and certainly not large enough for half of the species trapped on this world to squeeze through, but at the moment it was a quick, unobstructed entrance to safety. The only issue was that the entirety of the crater still glowed red and white with heat, with the occasional mixture of Vong plasma along its length. I shrugged and jumped as far as I naturally was capable, aiming for the small hole in the center. My aim was fairly close, and when I was within a meter of the crater's surface I gave a quick, short blast of my jet pack's thrusters to carry me the necessary distance to slide smoothly into the hole. I landed with a splash in what, according to my helmet's HUD was slightly toxic sewage. The fact that a bit of stench came in through my helmet's filtered air intake indicated how bad the air quality was down here. I glanced above to where ships were being obliterated as they ran for safety and people were turned to steam in massive bursts of energy. Bad air wasn't as bad as it could have been. I turned from the scene and ran again, aimlessly down the sewer searching for any survivors I might find.
  11. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a169/DarthTofu/WTF.jpg When did they start making these? It's a pity I'd have mine taken away by security people in a heartbeat if I got one... Then there's the annoying factor of my preferring not to use a wallet if at all possible...
  12. I was ticked at Destiny's Way's errors with regards to consistency and science on some things (Corran Horn apparently commands Rogue Squadron, and the New Republic can control captured Dovin Basals... And silver apparently make tremendously strong alloys. Oh, yes, and there's an element called "bronzium," now.) but overall thought it had good political stuff- it's rather odd when you read it and compare it to U.S. and British Government systems... Now I'm on the Force Heretic trilogy... Haven't started yet, primarily because I have lots of homework and small amounts of self-control. to resist the urge to read a good book... Besides, I've been reading too many of those books lately. I actually had to stop myself from telling someone that I got the holo...
  13. OOC: I can try to get my post completed sometime within the next week or two. Right now I'm dealing with the joys of AP classes and ten page outlines due every week, as well as the bonus of being copy editor for over one hundred pieces of literature, some of which are quite long, each of which need to be critiqued and corrected come Wednesday... Not that I'm complaining, mind you. I'll just set myself up on Home Two and interrupt your training with Tex for my purposes. Just checking- you will be on the strike team entering Zoot's base, right Mitth? Or is it going to be strictly Conway's forces assaulting the base? BTW: I think your post got cut off at the end. Either that or you just gave it no sense of closure (Sorry if it's the second one- I'm still in critiquing mode.) Edit in reply to Conway: Bugger.... I was kind of hoping to do something there with a strike team. Ah, well. I guess I'll put it off 'till later...
  14. Why do I have a bad feeling I know who the winner will be? I've always thought of Switzerland as the Land of Chocolate, personally.
  15. I'll point out some EU incorporation with Yoda: Yoda is already ancient come TPM. Judging by te EU, it is fully possible to draw on the force to refresh, revitalize, etc. yourself. Luke does this in Dark Tide I: Onslaught to save Jacen, and is exhausted when he finishes using it to slay a measly three Yuuzhan Vong warriors... Before he goes on to slaughter them all with ease Thus Yoda, already old, might have a body that is failing him. The force revitalizes him, but he is taxing his own strength heavily even when he moves with the force supplementing it. Just an idea, and one based almost entirely off of one author's book...
  16. Wow this is an old thread... Krytos wasn't even at 1000 when it came up, and he's a slow poster.... I typically name my ships with Expanded Universe Names, though if I have a particularly Resilient ship that survives a long enough period of the campaign I'll name it The Indomitable or something like that. Other ships I use Latin to name- I actually named a group of Corvettes based off of a Latin Translation of My Country Tis of The (Te canno paaaaaatria, Candida Liiiiibera... Yeah, I'm a nerd. Used to have the whole thing memorized... ) In my early days when I just made one huge, invincible fleet, I named them in sentances, such as the This the is the a the really the friggin' the big and the fleet, occassionally followed by the period.
  17. Ah, U.S. Government... I'm taking AP, now... In a semester. *Smashes head against wall* Ten typed pages worth of outlines for the current chapter we're working on... The shortest one was eight typed pages... *Groan* By all rights I really shouldn't even be touching the internet right now, but I'm a procrastinator and it's not due 'till next Wednsday, thus...
  18. That's nothing! It's 85 degrees and sunny here! Oh, wait, that gets people at me... Sorry about reposts- I don't typically click the video links in this thread, so I don't really know what has and hasn't been posted. Edit: Good looking movie
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz0hoNdyE1s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J13Yn_JlM0&NR First one is okay, second one is pretty darned funny... And now for my homework that I've been putting off for way too long since I got home.
  20. Hmm, trying to remember that one... I played that game for a while some time ago and truly hated some of those missions with a passion- particularly the one where you rescue your uncle- that one took me a good month to beat try http://www.cheatcc.com if you want to beat it quicker (Haven't checked the section on XWA- It may or may not be helpful)
  21. I wrote up some stuff for a short series I wanted to do to parallel (sp?) Zoot Wars for when I got Max... Then I realized that Max has a really complicated interface... I should probably download a couple o' tutorials and get back to work on that... Damn you, AP classes!
  22. I'm going to assume from what everyone else has said that Mad had a fag to make his Vodka bottle jealous in that pic...
  23. My mom gets points for cheese cake...
  24. I have a prospective part-time job. Space Coast Kayaking Guided Nature Tours's owner bumped into me today while I was out paddling around. She mistook me for the child of a friend of hers, and small talk turned into me asking if they were hiring. I sent in my resume of kayaking experiance, and according to the owner I'll be the first person they call if some of the people in the buisness have to head out of State and they need somebody to cover while they're gone... Yippee.
  25. *Slams with defibralator-thing* CLEAR! *Slams again* "When Wedge said 'look at the size of that thing!' wasn't looking at the Death Star!"
