  1. It's him! Its ToguroAni! He's back! *Does a happy dance* Woohoo! *Extremely excited and quick tone* Where ya been, mate? Huh? Huh? What were ya doin'? Did ya get me in thing? Huh? Huh? Didja? Didja? Huh? ... *Wanders away*
  2. Some of the books are superior to the films- for instance, Revenge of the Sith. The Classics, though... Those I think are great and aren't going to be improved terrifically by novelization- they rely on visual effects in a lot of places. Now the EU- that has some good, some bad, and some "WTF is wrong with you?" books. (Lack of continuity annoys me, as well as how it compounds when one author has a lack of continuity with another who had a lack of continuity with another... Such as Star by Star with Dark Journey with Destiny's Way so far as squadrons and Dovin Basals are concerned)
  3. Amazing... Woman dies from drinking water and here I thought dying of alochal would be bad!
  4. I'll give you the first two, but the third I won't give you any of. We are a product of, yes, our genetics, but also of our environment. The ability to fight with, say, a pair of blaster pistols, is an aquired trait. That is to say, it's something that you learned to do. The fact that the you in one scenario would learn to use blaster pistols rather than a rifle is immaterial when applied to a totally new scenario for growing up. Boba was young when his 'father' died, and as a result he learned relatively little from Jango. It's akin to how a sports star can have a child who goes on to persue a career in astrophysics- the fact that someone in your genetic line learned to do something does not give you a genetic disposition toward having the ability to do that. Granted, this is all assuming that Boba had none of Jango's memories inprinted in him, which he probably didn't seeing as it would be very odd raising yourself and talking to yourself, now wouldn't it?
  5. Baljos is a character anyone who wants to utalize can utalize, I suppose. Another good one I thought of is escaped slaves- they have the coral implants, meaning that they have to avoid the Yuuzhan Vong, but they are, in effect, free... I've got a kind of creative persona for myself: Krassus Ordo. A Mandalorian Protector who wears the distinctive Mandalorian Shock Trooper Armor of such Mandalorians as Boba Fett. Whichever planet I decide to place him on he can have gotten stuck on as a result of intelligance gathering for the Mandalorian cause, whether they particularly want it from him or not. I've done a fair amount of research through Wookiepeida on the Mandalores, and recognize that their seeing melee combat as the ultimate form of honerably battle would get a fair number of them killed were they too engage the Vong in, say, vibro-sword/blade-to-ampistaff combat. Krassus, being a bastard child of clan Ordo and an exhile, sees little reason to be honerable in combat, and as a result primarily fights with ranged weapons. His choice combat weapons are a pair of heavy Manadlorian blasters, though he also has a long-range sniper rifle in his now-ruined ship which he kept there in case it would become necessarry to use it. He has a fairly low rank so far as the Mandalorian caste system goes, but a fair level of combat experiance from a combination of asassination attempts and duels fought due to his bastard status in clan Ordo. Too corny, or okay? I kind of want a Mandalorian character just because Mandalorians are rather spiffy, but if other people think it's a dumb idea I'll swap out for something differant. I have large amounts of creativity, just a complete innability to channel it into good, rational ideas.
  6. I don't care for movies- you have to go through too many odd lines in them, and you can't stop for a moment to contemplate why something was said as it was. Granted, action flicks and commedy flicks are good because you don't have to pay too much attention to them, as are flicks with good, engaging plots, but the majority of them try to do what SOCL complained about Lucasbooks doing with the Vong- they take too many good things and mix them together, losing large chunks of goodness in the process. (Wow that was a long sentance) Last flick I saw was Casino Royale... Not bad, but dependant too much on a game of poker to liven up the plot.
  7. Acropolis, Colosseum, Easter Island Statues, Great Wall, Hagia Sophia, Pyramids of Giza, Taj Mahal. Hagia Sophia, the Acropolis, and the Colosseum just because their such amazing feats of engineering (And by the Greeks and Romans), Great Wall, Pyramids, and Easter Island Statues for the same reason, except that they are not quite as spiffy in my opinion. Taj Mahal because... Well, it's Taj Mahal. Like JH said- way too spiffy not to include.
  8. I noticed that "The Dark Times" didn't appear to be catching on, and so decided that I wanted to try a different, new idea. I apologize if it's been proposed before, but my expansive poking around hasn't revealed any traces of it, thus... How does this sound for an RPG? Set during the Yuuzhan Vong war you portray a character on a planet in Vong territory. You can choose to be a "new" Rebel Alliance character, inserted through Wedge Antilles, a member of the resistance taken from the local populace, a soldier who never got off the ground, a simple survivor with no interest in fighting, a Peace Brigade officer, or a Yuuzhan Vong. If anyone thinks of a neat idea for another genre of character they can feel free to offer it to me. Characters can be on the same planets, or even in the same cells, and can operate together or independently. If anyone would like to propose an overall plot arc (Beyond what the NJO already includes) that can also be incorporated into the RPG. This one wouldn't be quite so structured as Zoot Wars is, and would be more of a "Hey, the RPG section was updated! *Reads newest post* Alright, then! *writes up their own post*" Updates can be as short or long as necessarry, though I will stress that good spelling and grammar are always appreciated in posts. Who thinks that it's a good idea and wants in? State a character, species, planet or operation, and possibly home planet if you want to take part in it, by the way. If you have other ideas, such as, say, Elegos, who didn't really die, but was replaced with another Camaasi's skeleton be Shedao Shai just to screw with Corran, those will probably also be accepted. I don't mean to make too many rules in here, and I want to keep it free-flowing. Other than that, havvat it! ... Oh, and one other rule. *Glances up* Please, let's try to limit the number of Jedi. These things seem clogged with 'em when we include too many...
  9. What are you people, stupid? He's a seer! He knew about all of this back when oil was still living, breathing organisms!
  10. Ah, so that's the full story of Jahled... Or should I say- Thomas?!
  11. I still say it came from that vid I posted that made Boba Fett out to be similar to Steve Irwin... RIP, Steve.
  12. I'll bet he already has both...
  13. I don't remember it- It's a great vid, though! Is merging allowed?
  14. I'm currently hacking away at an update- I'm just popping out of bacta and realizing that I'm more mechanical than I'd prefer to be. All I've set so far as location goes is a moving ship with some technicians and a bacta center. I can be wherever I need to be and provide some filler. I'm felling "Creative," which typically means "Really hard obstable for the character to overcome/greusome death or two," so if I do post this it will be lacking considerably in terms of my usual humor... Not done yet, but if you'd like some filler I'd be glad to provide it. Quick question- anybody mind if I either A) Use their force-sensative character for something or B) (Failing A) create my own force-sensative-padaawan-style-character? I have some ideas about cool, slightly corny lines to use for when I kill myself off, and I'd like to make the arc of some of these ideas extend as far as possible.
  15. Don't be silly, Melbourne is a county in Florida near where I live. Hey, there's a good spot... Let's name all of the places in our differant areas with the same names so that we can all agree to meet at least one person at one of them, and then pretend like we did... Or not. (It's a joke, guys. I'm not being serious in any way shape or form. If you needed me to tell you that it's more a testament to your intellect than to mine)
  16. Here's something random: The FIRST Robotics program held their kickoff today, and my team now has the problem. Right now I'm going through my brain trying to figure out how to make a robot go from four feet tall to a maximum of ten. My current thoughts are a worm gear hooked to a set of verticle gear teeth. The only issue with this is that the absolute maximum new height would be eight feet, and it would actually have to be something smaller to account for a complete lack of room on the bot to put our control systems, as well as being stable enough to allow another bot of up to 120 lb.s to climb up on top of us... Oh, and after that we have to figure out how to make a manipulator (sp?) arm on that telescoping tower, as well as making our bot sturdy enough to take a hit or two, and precise enough to get a 13 inch circle over a 10 inch circle when that circle has the ability to move a maximum of a foot in any direction. Fun stuff!
  17. BEAK. 'Nuff said. I personally pronounce it sort of like "Cry Toes," as if the two words are merged into one... I'm sure wookiepedia has a phonetic spelling of it.
  18. *Salutes* Enjoy yourself, and don't eat the yellow snow.
  19. Ooo, dang.... Well, you said it was easy to get drunk in Switzerland... Dang- did you at least divide it evenly, or did you manage to chug the majority of it before your friends could? At least two liters of beer... >.<
  20. Didn't AI already make a topic like this? Ah, well- my real name is Christopher. I got sick of hearing "Chris!" called out in the halls and turning around to find that it was someone else. I briefly tried to go by the name of Topher. That didn't stick at all, and didn't work with anyone except for a friend with a few mental issues (Actual issues, I'm not making any of them up) who interpretted it as "Tofu." He was setting up his own 'army' (Basically a large, long-running joke in which he gives people silly names and positions) and stuck me with the name "TofuTarkin." I objected, both on the basis that Tarkin is a last name and that I was really a sith. It became "DarthTofu" and has been my screen name for everything ever since.
  21. Ding dong, Sadam is dead!
  22. I'm kinda glad that they killed Anakin, though I have mixed feelings about how they did it. I finally finished Star by Star, which is the second-worst book in the series so far as I've read. (Balance Point was also crap) The huge continuity errors within his own book annoyed the crap out of me, with everything from T-21 blasters that can apparently get through Vondum Crab Armor to Anakin's lightsaber being "Scarlet" at one point, to any and all Twileks knowing their way around anything and everything that's underground, to Luke turning three squadrons of fighters into two fifteen-fighter squadrons, and then sending two squadrons one way and a third another. That said, it was good to see another major character die. Things were softening up since the Dark Tide Duology, and unless you had read "I, Jedi" Elegos's death didn't hurt very much at all. Anakin and Borsk dieing, Coruscant being taken over- all of those things were designed to shock and to hurt slightly, and they did. The things that I think Troy Dennings managed to do right: A sense of hopelessness and despair, a sense of sadness as people died, and desperation. Things I think he did wrong: Any sense of continuity, basing the book on a Rambo movie for the most part, poor character interaction and speech, (Honestly, how hard is it to make "It is" into "It's" for more natural speech?!) and basing most of the book off of the "Young Jedi Knight" books.
  23. I thought that was real for half of the video! Top notch stuff, J!
  24. *Sighs* Eh, I'll open up audacity and record a bit... I have some semi-good voice acting skills, plus I have enough gunk in my throat that it sounds like I'm speaking German (No offense meant to Germans) when I say "Hello."
  25. You know you're in a good place when... Grown men are discussing cartoons, and some of them aren't looking back very far in their lives to remember watching them at all.
