  1. Don't forget to partially blame the evil Micro$ith Corp
  2. Post or PM me your e-mail address & I'll send it to ya Anybody else?
  3. Young whipper-snappers! They've got plenty of "life" left in them Tofu What you haven't read is GL is transfusing his body with $ in place of blood, and he needs even more $. Greedy b@st@rd!
  4. I thought it was still in Beta testing? Although some posted comments and such about the game play, I'm not sure what "the plan" was to address the comments. I assumed new modified files would be supplied to answer user comments. What else is missing (besides voices, LLF is always looking for more voices )?
  5. Quite right , although I did mirror the image so it resembles the Star Wars galaxy map layout. @Evaders: I have created a ZIP file for this, what do I need to do to get this loaded into the Downloads section?
  6. You should meet the rest of the family
  7. A happy "belated" to Bud, and a regular happy birthday to Rob
  8. WOO! *** Triple Post *** Well, I believe the Galaxy (re)Configuration is complete ; and with a week to spare! (I checked the first post, April 16th, 2007). Here's what the in game screen looks like : http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/1778/modifiedgalaxy2ingamegawn5.jpg If you check closely between the "game sectors" I've added ghost gray +'s for other (non playable) systems. I was originally going to pull up the SW galaxy map and add where appropriate, but since my galaxy layout is somewhat "skewed" to fit the game, I just added them where they are reasonably "appropriate". I'll work on putting this all into a ZIP file for download if anyone's interested; maybe I can pass this along to E to put in the downloads. It'll just depend on if there's a demand for it
  9. *** Double Post *** OK, I have another update, mostly about the problem I mentioned earlier. I have a "work around" which doesn't "fix" the problem, but makes it a moot point for me. I scanned through my sector systems looking for two systems that had short descriptions; and I found my solution. I had to swap two sectors, then swap the two systems such that their descriptions were at the 7700 & 7701 locations in the ENCYTEXT.DLL file. Then, the next part was much trickier; I had to use my HEX editor (NOT ResourceHacker) to change the descriptions. The descriptions could NOT be longer that the original description. Luckily both of my new descriptions were shortened to fit the bill. So, all of the encyclopedia descriptions are now complete. Now one more little thing ... I'm trying to work on my background per J's idea. I just need to get my file and the galactic map sync'ed to pull this off easily, especially since finding time to work on this is hard to come by. I think your idea may work out quite well J. I just hope I can do it justice
  10. Keep up the good work Slocket. I know diddley-squat about today's new fangled programming languages, so I'll sit back watching for updates and posting moral support. Don't kill yourself trying to do all of this over a weekend, or in a week, month, etc. Good things come to those who wait (patiently )
  11. Spike (cable TV) has been showing them this weekend. I watched a bit of the end of RotS yesterday. Now the "good" episodes should play
  12. Appears to me I read it right the first time Tex, reread what I wrote, especially what I bolded and italicized text: I just assumed you threw me into the lot with the "other" evil conservatives
  13. Recruitment has a better chance of success based on the system's loyalty. It's not that you can't recruit from systems with less than 100% loyalty, it's just that you get the additional "failure" messages. Good luck
  14. Thanks E! All of this new computer stuff, new software and setup is hard for us ol' fogeys to pick up on
  15. Thanks for the praise X-Neo I've been working my tail off on this when I could find the spare time, so I guess it's time for an update. All of the sectors, and system positions are complete; planet ID's have been designated; sector and system labels entered; encyclopedia entries written and currently being input. Which brings me to a small problem I ran into and hopefully somebody out there (maybe an RR team member?) might be able to help. In the ENCYTEXT.DLL file, folder 7700 & 7701, the system description data is NOT setup like all of the others. Instead of just editing and "script compiling" when complete, these two entries are in HEX. I've tried editing the correct HEX and string data in the folder, then saving the file, BUT ... no matter what I type, as soon as I go to a different folder then return, the original data reappears. It appears like there is a write protect on these two folders, and I'm not sure how to proceed with this anymore. So, get into ResourceHacker and see for yourselves, any useful suggestions would be appreciated. Just a few more tweaks and this task will be complete. So far the following files have been changed to pull this off: SECTORSD.DAT SYSTEMSD.DAT TEXTSTRA.DLL STRATEGY.DLL ENCYTEXT.DLL The STRATEGY.DLL file is like 29 Meg's in size, so I'm thinking of supplying a README file and the necessary files to update it. The other files are small enough to provide directly. I'm really pushing to get this done before the end of the month (the 1 year anniversary since I started this thread). It's going to be close
  16. Are the PM's gone forever or still floating around in the ether? I had some good info in there, plus old PM's from GMC (RIP partner). My private e-mail says I've received two PM's but how do I access them? I don't even know who they're from
  17. Maybe they'll find your "lost mine" for you when they accidentally fall down the shaft
  18. Let me know how that works Krytos, especially since the PM system is gone EDIT: E's on top of things, I just need to get my eyes checked ... again!
  19. Darth Vader in the OT (before the prequels came out and destroyed his image) Darth Maul Ben Kenobi (Sir Alec ) "young" Master Obi-wan
  20. Happy Birthday Mad. Sounds like you had a good time
  21. Why does the mission take longer with people working together? I think the mission is accomplished faster due to the "better chance" as you put it. The "catch" is the character with the highest mission stat (i.e. diplomacy for diplomatic mission) get the stat increase and the other characters remain stagnant (no stat increase). Should multiple characters do multiple missions, the overall "chance" is somewhat lower, but everytime someone gets a positive response, that character gets a stat increase (making them better in the long run IMO).
  22. I don't think I accused you of being a racist, Tex, and it's quite unfortunate you saw that in what I wrote...Well, let's see ... Appears to me I read it right the first time
  23. J, your "European liberal" and my "Republican liberal" aren't equivalent. I'm glad you have no problem working with a gay guy, I have no personal grudges against gay people at all; it's their choice. Republicans aren't black/white stormtrooper types killing all those that are different. That's call fear-mongering, Tex. No SOCL, that's called baiting; hook, line & sinker Ah, the young liberal brainwashing propoganda. I'll put this to bed with one person: Condoleezza Rice (she's a double minority; female & black). I'd vote for her in a heartbeat over McCain. It's not the sex or race SOCL, it's the platform. And "conservative" works best in my opinion. Now who's being steoretyical . I have relatives in Kentucky. Say that to their face and you'd be shot! Small is relative; the US has less than 5% unemployment. The amount considered "lazy" (IMO) is larger than you think Eagle. Spoken like a true socialist. Where's the incentive for people to work harder? If I work 10 hours of overtime in a 40 hour work week (25% increase) and I only get 10% more pay just because I made more money, then I won't work OT anymore. If I want to give it away, then that should be my choice and not the government's. I work hard for my money. All those people who work their arse off in school or at work get penalized just because John Doe was too damn lazy to do his schoolwork, or got a college degree in basic basket weaving and doesn't make much money, I have to subsidize! Screw that. That's why Darwin was born. That's why some people become doctor's, surgeons, specialists, plus other careers. These people go to school for many years, rack up large school debts, so when they get a job it will pay them a lot of money. Setting a broken arm for somebody isn't different depending on the size of your bank account; a broken bone is a broken bone. If you want fairer treatment, then talk to the those in charge of setting the price, and the insurance companies that (IMO) scam everybody's money. Otherwise have your socialist gov't print up diplomas for everyone and pass them out, telling people what job they need to do whether they like it or not (kind of sounds like the ol' Soviet Union). This is why I usually skip these topics; the responses are way too long and take up way too much of my time
  24. Who, J?
  25. Thanks guys! It was a pretty nice day relaxing and NOT doing work @Rob: I have one of those, but it's an older model with four legs @Eagle: nice pic
